Hi Guys,
Need some help, I wanted to bring my G5 back to stock, I had it running CM but had 2 many bugs for me so I followed some guides and I got so far but now my G5 is stuck on the download mode screen, I cannot boot into recovery or anything it always ends up on this screen, I tried downloading LgUp and Lg flashtool and downloading the correct KDZ files and no matter what i try it fails, LG Flash tool comes up with error (S) Failed to load. and when i can get lgup to recognize the phone it gets to 10% and fails, Ive tried so many guides, differnet KDZ's, USB ports and uninstalls and reinstalls. Any ideas?? Back using my G4 on CM for now!
Any ideas?
Thanks!

i had some issues with correct drivers. take autoprimes 10c or whatever his last was and reinstall lg up as the test dll file for 10i messes lg up quite a lot.
so I'd suggest cleaning your pc off everything related. and try following autoprime's refurbish process. as long as your device gets recognized it shouldn't be hard bricked.
You can try to use LG Bridge with V10i.
Follow the guide in this link:

I have got same problem. The phone is detected as firmware v10i so you must use dll modify trick from other post in kdz uprade section (there is proper dll file for upgrade to v10i). When you change dll from v10i firmware you choose upgrade (it is important to check option upgrade not refurbished, refurbished you can to after downgrade firmware to v10e) and I choose v10e then you can paste old dll and then you can choose option refurbished now. For me I have the same problem and it was related with dll files in pc and lgup and this procedure help me solve the problem.

Hi,
I was just wondering if you were able to revive your G5? I am in a similar situation. I was running ZV6 on my LS992 and decided to restore it to stock ZV6 but now it's dead, not even the display works(which is very weird). Following is the status of my phone, any help would be greatly appreciated:
1. Device has no display(it was working absolutely fine before I restored it to stock ZV6 firmware)
2. Device was not rooted and was running stock ZV6 before restoration attempt.
3. Even though there is no display, phone when connected to USB shows up as COM port, so I am assuming it is stuck in boot loop and even though I can't see, it goes straight to download mode.
4. LG UP Tool will no longer recognize the phone and detects it as Unknown and won't let me continue past the screen to flash.
5. LG Flash Tool, I think I am missing the LS992 DLL. I tried using DLL from UP tool which doesn't seems to work. H850 DLL doesn't work either.
I have read through the forum and information is mixed and nothing leads to anything helpful.
Flash Tool version: 2.0.1.6
Error: Failed (s)
I have all current drivers, LG Bridge and LAB framework installed.
I am honestly at the point where I want to buy Octopus box and get done with this. Lol.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

When you try turning it on, is there any sound or vibration?

None. Display is blank but to test, I separated battery and the moment I plug the battery back, it gets detected as com.

Hello! I had this issue a while ago as well, I downloaded the LG Bridge program and used the software update tab to repair this problem! I had then caused the problem a second time and discovered that clicking "Software update" no longer had any effect on my device. I solved that problem by choosing "Update error recovery" it took a few trys plugging my phone in to have it recognize the phone but I later discovered that was my own fault.

Thanks for replying. I tried that but doesn't seem to work. Could you describe a little more in details on what happened? What baffles me most is no display. I also tried LG mobile support tool, it detects the phone and says software is up to date. When I try to use "Upgrade Recovery" option, it asks me for IMEI which I don't have. I tried a different IMEI for another LS992 and it keeps asking for model and serial no.
Any ideas guys? Still stuck with this thing. Do you think buying a fast charging cable type c- type c will help? I have a aftermarket A to C cable and I am really curious if that could be the reason.
Thanks!

It's worth a shot, if you do buy official charger for this phone. Think I seen it on amazon for like $20 or something.

Yeah man! It's awesome. They have a very well organized and updated repository for firmware files too. Most of the operation is simple and pretty straight forward. I was so done with LG Flash Tool and all that garbage. Lol. This purchase of ? box out of frustration is probably one of my best decisions. Lol. If your looking to unlock H830, it's not yet supported. I think T-Mobile is the only one without direct unlock including H811. I simply love Verizon for this reason. Lol.
Let me know if you have any questions. I might sell this box to you since my goal is now established. Haha.

Cool thanks for the info. You can make pretty much make all your money back and then some. By repairing for people on ebay and other sites. You should keep it for that reason and future brick phones of yours.
I agree LG flash tool being garbage. I've seen others hard brick with that program. Some of even the soft bricks can be a pain in the butt to fix.
Yeah I might be interested if you still end up selling it. I just gotta save a few pay checks up first. Do you have a decent feedback account with ebay or Amazon?

I have made this tutorial due to me not finding any other tutorials on fixing the problem presented in this guide. Dear admins if there is another guide on how to fix this problem please feel free to do what you must to this thread. Thank You
First of all is if you have the security error problem on your phone I can assure you that it is NOT bricked and can be fixed.
Also I am not and will not be accountable if this guide does not fix your phone. I also will not and should not be held accountable if this guide is to further damage anything of your phone.
PROCEED WITH CAUTION; Please Pre-Read this guide and understand it before proceeding.
Okay so I will guide you through on how to fix the security error problem most people have on their LG devices. I had encountered this problem on my friends LG MS769 (Optimus L9 – MetroPCS). This guide should work for mostly any LG phone.
This happened to me when I was flashing a custom recovery for the phone. I had successfully rooted the phone using a guide located at:
androidforums.com/optimus-l9-all-things-root/759935-how-root-metropcs-l9-lgms769.html
By following the above guide you will be able to successfully root and install SuperSU on you LG MS769. But keep in mind that even though it will root the phone is will NOT, I don’t know how to emphasis this as much, it will NOT: Unlock the BootLoader, Flash a custom recovery, or let you install a Custom Rom.
But let us come back the topic at hand. Okay so to fix this problem we will need the following.
LG Mobile Support Tool -- B2CAppSetup.exe -- Attached
A reliable Internet Connection
A computer with Windows XP/Vista/7/8 – (Untested on Windows 8)
TIME and PATIENCE --- We will be downloading a file about 500MB give or take some.
Okay let us begin in our endeavors of fixing our problems.
First use the below download link to download the LG Mobile Support Tool
After downloading that place it on your desktop and run it as administrator
After you run B2CAppSetup.exe it should automatically open the Mobile Support Tool, if not there should be a new .exe created on the desktop called LGMobile Support Tool just double click and open that.
Let the program update and install any necessary files that it requires. (It should automatically start to update and install, it should just prompt you with a UAC window)
Once you see the program open, click on the Install USB Driver button on the top left-hand side
Then a new window will come up asking for you for the phones carrier and the phones model number.
Once you are successfully done installing the drivers, we can proceed to the restoration process of the phone
Okay now we need to put the phone in S/W Upgrade Mode.
a.Remove phone battery, if it does not have a removable battery make sure phone is off
b.While holding down the VOLUME (DOWN or UP or BOTH) BUTTON(S) insert the microUsb in the phone while also having the USB side connected to the computer already. (To enter S/W mode it varies phone to phone which volume buttons must be pressed, try all three options)
Once the phone is in S/W Upgrade Mode the computer will start to install the drivers and the LG Mobile Support Tool will automatically detect it and start the restore process
a.Keep in mind that this process takes its time and should more than likely complete successfully giving you a working phone
b.NOTE: I have read some people calming that the process gets stuck at 4% and does not go on. If it does happen to get stuck at any percentage let it stay there for a while and see if it does go on, if not I would recommend retrying once on the same computer and if it still does not work I would give a second recommendation to try on another computer. Other than that I would suggest you contact you phone carrier or LG.
If all goes well you should have a fully functioning factory restored LG phone. Congratulations!!!!
Hope this guide was of help and I wish you best of luck in your further endeavors. :good:

Security Error corrected!
Thanks for this info! I was able to update the SW from the LG Support Tool program but I had to switch to another computer to do it, and after several tries it finally took.
For this LG-P769 I had to hold the volume up button with the battery out and it went into the SW update mode on the phones screen. The update stopped after 33% update and I had to disconnect and install the battery, start the phone and let the Security Error extinguish, then plugged the USB cord back in and click the retry button of the tool, then it updates. Yes!
Note, wait until the phone reboots to the normal operating screen even though the tool says its done. This tool approx. 2 more minutes.
The phone is no longer rooted but it kept all the original apps except "Superus".
Not working for me, any help?
I have an LG-LS970, and I've made it to the point where the recovery software was downloaded and extracted, but something is causing an error and not letting the process finish. I assume this is the faulty ROM on the phone, since my phone is bricked from rooting and deleting Google Play apps (I was stupid and thought they weren't important to have). Any ideas?
If you had the recovery software installed you could of installed the gaps. Zip files through it.

Please help i've been at this for 2 days
I moved a boot.img file to my Metropcs LG optimus L9 lgms769 and now I am stuck at the security error. I rooted the phone but did not have the bootloader unlocked. I have tried the update tool and it stops at 4%, when I can get it to work. I haven't either understood the other methods mention or something, idk. Anyway, I would really like to get my phone working. Can someone please give me a good way to do this. I have the V10E_00.kdz file already. Thankyou
I already have the latest version but need to repair
Thanks for the instructions! I followed the steps and everything basically works but once the phone is in software upgrade mode, the LG tool just says "Your device has the latest software available from the LG Mobile Support Tool" and it doesn't install anything.
What happened is I rooted my phone and removed one too many system apps, now it won't boot up anymore. How can I get this tool to reinstall the same software I already have? Do I need to wipe it completely? Please help me out, I'm afraid I'll make it worse if I try anything else.

Is it working? My phone is in S/W Upgrade mode, but I don't see any upload bar anywhere
Background:
I originally had CWM and custom rom install on my phone. I decided to install a new rom, but the installation failled and Aroma installer kicked me out of recovery. I have no way re-entering recovery, so I used Smart Flasher and the correct ROM to flash the phone back. And now I'm stuck at Security Error.
hello guys
sorry for my bad English.
i have a LG P760 for about 6 months, bought it second hand from a friend. the phone had troubles from the beginning with starting up. every time when you started the phone, it couldn't get any furder than the lg logo, so i had to take out the battery, and start the phone again, this happened several times before the lg started.
last time i had this problem, it took me forever, placed the battery like 30 times in and out, so i did a factory reset, but while resetting, the phone died, and i wasn't able to get it back on.. not even with the special key combinations. so i searched around the net for a solution and found one. but when i tried and connected the phone to the pc with a usb cabel holding the up button, i got errors of coprocessor and omap4430, so i installed them both, and tried again. so now the omap4430 keeps connecting and disconnecting, so i can't connect my lg to the pc..
plz help me..

pc:
windows 7 ultimate 64-bit
AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2GHz

Ok. This can probably be fixed with a recovery update. Make sure you have the latest lg mobile support tool installed on your pc. Then, power your phone off. I should say that after doing this, it WILL wipe EVERYTHING off your phone... so back up your contacts somehow. So, once youve got the support thing on your pc, open that up. Now plug the usb end of your charging cable to your pc. While holding the UP volume button on your l9, plug in the phone end. Don't do anything until the software upgrade screen pops up on your phone. Then let go of VOL +. Your pc should be installing drivers now, wait till those are done if any. Once the lg support tool says your phone is connected, there should be a drop down in the top right. Click that and click the recovery update option. (I think thats what its called, you should figure it out) then let it work its magic and once your phone reboots you should be set. What this did is wiped the phone COMPLETELY, and reinstalls the OS. Good luck!

Good luck!

first of all, thanks for the reply! but i think you miss understood the problem here. since the phone died, it does not respond on anything.. could it be that the phone fully bricked? when i open lg mobile support tool, and plug it into usb, with the up botton to get in to SW mode like you say, the phone keeps connecting and disconnecting.. on lg support tool, there is nothing happening.. just connecting and disconnecting like 10-12 times...
You might want to look into what installing fastboot drivers imply, if I recall correctly they include drivers for the omap4430 device, once you can get into fastboot and hopefully have your device show up there in your PC screen, you might be able to push a custom recovery or try to reboot the phone via commands.
Its one of those issues you need to be there to try and fix, sorry if I'm not helping much.

Put phone in download mode: Turn phone off, push and hold volume up and plug USB cable into phone
Open device manager (Windows Start>control panel>device manager)
Select Port connection for phone (COM and LPT>LGE Android Net for VZW USB Serial Port)
Change the port to COM41 (Right click on the specified port, select properties, left click port setting tab. Click advanced. Change COM Port Number to COM41. Click OK. Click OK.
If you don't see the phone, click View in Device Manager, then click Show Hidden.
Start LGFlashtool. Specify the dll and tot to flash by checking "Select manual mode." Left click the "..." button and select the dll. Left click the "Add" button and select the tot. Click OK to close the file selection window.
Click the yellow arrow and wait patiently. Loading the firmware takes a few.

When FlashTool shows Ready, disconnect the phone for ~5 secs. Upon reconnecting the phone, FlashTool will automatically run. This will take a few moments, so go get a cup of coffee. When the phone shows a blue screen with a bid red 3, you're good to go. Disconnect the phone and pull the battery briefly. Restart the phone and redo the setup. Shutdown Flashtool to prevent any accidents when rerooting.

OG RAZR XT912 got 4.4 before S4
I am an experienced Android hacker, and still got a bit lost with the tutorial. While I appreciate the excellent work here, you might consider editing/adding the information to help clarify the following:
1. The TOT file at http://www.mediafire.com/download/6i..._Stock_TOT.zip, https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B7379qhBA5bnVWQwLU9GNkk3ZGs&usp=sharing, and http://fs1.androidfilesharing.com/d123f6f2cfa13038 are all identical - and we only need one or the other. Please identify the other TOT links as mirrors to the same file, so people aren't downloading all of them unnecessarily (especially as they each are so very large).
2. There is already a MegaLock.dll file installed in the LGFlashTool folder once the application is installed. When you say add .dll files to the LGFlashTool folder, please clarify if MegaLock.dll needs to be overwritten by the other file with the same name (found in Setup_LGFlashTool_1.8.1.1023.zip), or otherwise. It might also help to clarify specifically which dll files are moving to the LGFlashTool folder, and from where. I ended up overwriting the default MegaLock.dll with the one you provided before I started the process...
3. Ports won't often show in Device Manager unless you go to View and then Show Hidden Devices in the Device Manager application.
4. After clicking the yellow arrow, unplugging and plugging the phone back in did nothing to start the process. Nor did plugging it back in while holding volume up (like in your 2nd step). I had to unplug, power the phone on, and then when the red Verizon screen appeared I plugged back in. This triggered the start of the Flash process. An easy way to tell you're in the right spot during the process: the red Verizon screen will disappear and a Firmware Updating screen will pop up to show you progress on the phone. When done, the phone will power cycle automatically...then, after a few other brief items, the red "3" on the blue screen will appear.
WARNING: Don't forget to close the LGFlashTool on your PC when you're done. Because...if you have anything else to do during the same session (such as rooting the phone), when you power cycle the phone while it's still plugged into your PC, LGFlashTool will take over and proceed to flash your phone again!!
Thanks again for your hard work. The tutorial was indeed helpful.

I'm trying this and I am stuck. Got all files downloaded, installed lg tool and got to the point of restarting the phone into download mode. No problem there. Issue is I can't find the COM ports in the device manager. Running Windows 8.1 pro, don't see a section for the COM ports. I do see CDC EM, CDC Serial and LGE Android Phone, but when I right click, there is no PORT option to change....
I know I am getting close if I can just figure how to change the port on the device manager.
Any help?

Quick question, apologies if it's idiotic -- basically I (stupidly, it turns out) tried to change my VZW boot animation. No dice. But now I can't get the old one back to working again, which is buggin me out.
QUESTION: Would reflashing to stock in the manner described in this thread completely restore the phone, including that boot animation? I'm just crazy enough about this to actually do it, if it'd work.
Thanks A TON for any info.

LG G3 flies faster than a G6

There seems to be two problems. But fixing one will fix the other. So I'll go there first.
I can no longer get LGUP to recognize my phone. Fix this and I can reflash LGH962AT-ROOT and start over. My computer recognizes my phone and I can transfer files between them.
It is really hard to get into recovery, but I have through LGUP. My recent attempts shows the dead droid with the red triangle. I think I may have killed recovery and that may be why I can't use LGUP.
My phone otherwise mostly healthy. :good: I can't get Xposed to install and work. I had it working before my last reset. I accidentally killed my Contacts and Dialer. I can't Flashify/FlashFire LGContacts. 20/20 hindsight - I forgot to TB before messing with the Dialer/Contacts.
I am 100% willing to lose everything and start from scratch. If someone could help me get LGUP to work again I will be so grateful.
At least I didn't soft or hard brick it. . . . . . this time. (See my signature)
Can somebody help me to reconnect to LGUP? I have researched and found nothing that worked. (unless I did it wrong)
I'm begging and pleading here.

Seriously guys. I need help. I'll even pay for the help.
I give you my fix cause i had the issue to. 2 things. Lg up and drivers.
1. Download uninstaller from iobit
2. Uninstall lgup and its dll (use batch uninstall to uninstall at the same time)
3.once uninstalled you see an option called powerful scan. Click it and then delete all them files it picks up.
4. Install lgup and its dll file
5. Reinstall the drivers with the phone pluged in
6. Run lgup and it should work. If you need the files. The lgup tool plus dll and drivers i dont mind helping out. I really hope this helps
It almost worked. LGUP couldn't find my phone as usual. Then as I was about to give up, when it asked about Port and Version. As soon as I clicked to continue, it errored. I will try again in an hour. From scratch from your instructions.

LG Bridge installed some of the programs I removed. The Google crap. The phone/contacts was not reinstalled.
Also, LG Bridge has no choice between refurbish or upgrade. LGUP does, but it doesn't recognize my phone. Now if I could get it to, then I could fix it myself.
 I got LG Phone and LG Contacts back. I did a Factory Data Reset and I got those two critical apps back. Unfortunately, I am still on Marshmallow, that doesn't have root, yet.
I still can't access LGUP. (Yes, going through the whole uninstall - install routine)
Is there another method of rooting / flashing LGH962AT-00-V10b- . . . -ROOT besides LGUP?
*EDIT 1* LG Bridge will let me restore from a backup. *.lbf / *.idx / *.brinfo Does anyone have a a H962 rooted Lollipop file I can use?
*EDIT 2* If I Enable OEM unlock in Developer Settings and remove the battery for a minute. Replace battery and do not touch the power button. Hold the Volume Up button and attach the computer cable and boot into Download Mode. Then open LG Bridge and click on software update. When it says I'm up to date, start LGUP I get . . . Model Unknown / COM6. (I did't do a uninstall - install of LGUP)
I'm getting closer. Tomorrow I'll do a full uninstall - install routine of the LGUP. Maybe I'll get lucky.

Well thats good you got it working. Sucks to be on mm tho.
MM is not bad, I dont miss root as much as I did before I had the LTE bands needed :good:
 :highfive: I got ROOT!!!! again.
For others here is what I did.
First, LGUP has an update. I downloaded it.
Linky-LGUPnew.zip Normal setup. Move the Common folder to the LGUP folder.
The Mobile Driver stayed the same.
I was on Marshmallow. But H962 doesn't have a rooted MM version. So I used my original rooted TOT. (LGH962AT-00-V10b . . . ) First I Chose UPGRADE in LGUP. I crashed my phone. I did it again but REFURBISH. I backed up everything via LG Bridge first. It worked! I got root, but I must restore my stuff.
LG Bridge did not restore anything for me. I stupidly forgot to also LG Backup via the phone app. It probably failed because I went from Marshmallow to Lollipop. It is worth it to me to BLOCK ALL %&^&#^% ADVERTISING.
DIE ADVERTISEMENTS DIE
So, I have no problem reinstalling everything from scratch. If you do, backup you backup's backup. I do have Titanium Backup of most of my apps/files. I "assume" they will work.
Now I have to patiently wait unit H962 has a rooted Marshmallow. Click thanks if this helped you.

Does the LGH962AT use Tungkick's Rooting method?
If so, you could probably do an "Upgrade" while your phone is in Download Mode when rooting with the TOT file. That fixed a lot of issues I had on my phone and I didn't lose my important files, which by the way, I have to transfer to my SD Card.

Got it! Glad you were able to solve your issue.
Hello everyone, first post here but I've been lurking in the last couple days.
So basically a couple days back my v30 H930 entered for no reason a bootloop that had some weird graphical glitches on top of the LG logo. First thing I did was factory reset it (didn't really care about my files since I back up really often). That didn't stop the weird bootloop so I started looking online.
What I found was LG Bridge, so being it an LG software I went with full trust with the option "Update error recovery" while in download mode. Watched it download the update and install and everything seemed to be going well. After LG Bridge finished tho, the phone was bootlooping again with the "Erasing" screen appearing a couple seconds and then showing "your device has failed a routine safety check and will not boot" again and again.
So after this I enter download mode again to give LG Bridge a second try, thinking that something went wrong the first time around. Worst mistake of my life: around 50% my phone restarted itself, just to show "LGE Crash Handler: UEFI Crash".
As far as I see online this is basically a dead phone screen, now i can't enter any other mode, it just boots up to this.
Is my only choice to find a repair shop? Is this even fixable?

Hello everyone, first post here but I've been lurking in the last couple days.

Some pictures would be nice.
You should've used LG up from here.
Connect the Phone to a PC and see if you get the sound that you usually get when connecting a device. Then in device manager see what the device is shown as. (Maybe as 9008 something?)

Thought that using official LG software would have been safer at first, even tho I did read a lot about LG UP.
Here's the pic of the crash screen. My PC recognizes the phone but not as "Qualcomm 9008" but as "LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port" which I guess is bad news.
Saw on ebay an unbricking service that could do it remotely with Octoplus, you think that might work?
Thanks for your time ahead!

LGUP is LG official software.
LGUP is a program developed by LG Electronics. The LGUP tool allows you to flash the kdz/tot/bin format LG Stock firmware onto your LG android devices.

If you are merely flashing (installing, updating) the KDZ image (firmware) made for your variant, you can use "regular" LGUP. It's sort of generic software that works for all LG Androids. You supply the firmware you wish to flash, so you have to choose correctly. If it's not correct, it won't install and you'll get an error message that it failed, but no changes will be made to the phone.
Whereas LG Bridge needs an internet connection and downloads the "correct" firmware for you.
However, LG Bridge will sometimes tell you that you have the most recent firmware, when you don't -- even if you are full stock on native firmware.
Also, LG Bridge relies upon IMEI + current firmware information --- which can prevent you from updating if you have cross flashed to another variant via Dev Patched LGUP.
LGUP lets you flash firmware manually, which bypasses any LG Bridge limitations.
Where we differentiate is here in this forum we prefer to use Dev Patched LGUP which adds more functions. You have the regular options, plus more choices.
These allow you to cross flash to firmware of other variants, or flash specific partitions while omitting others. This will allow you to flash firmware that would normally "fail" in regular LGUP, but which we wish to flash anyway -- like converting a Sprint LS998 to US998 to get fastboot flash commands for bootloader unlock. Or flashing EU H930 software, while keeping US998 modem (LTE bands).
Dev Patched LGUP is LGUP on steroids.

Thanks a lot for the answer, my bad in thinking that LG UP wasn't an official software, I actually downloaded it + a stock ROM right after LG bridge failed the first time around.
Asked directly to the service if it's fixable, really appreciate the positive answer so far, didn't know how much I need this phone in my life.
