Hey,
On CyanogenMod you can change that buttons change music volume not profile volume. Can I do it on stock? I have phone always on vibrations so with buttons I want to change music volume.

So if I ask about buttons. On CM there is else that long press on square button (next to home) switch last apps. Is it possible on stock?
You won't actually have those features on stock at all, but you can get skipping tracks via volume buttons using an app on Google Play. As for holding recents button to go to the last opened app, that would need CM. Our stock recent button uses menu when long pressed.

was wondering if there was a reg edit to change how much the volume increases/decreases on one press of the volume buttons... i think it changes three bars on one press of either button, any way of making it one bar per press of the buttons... three is too much, for me anyway...
cheers
Just press one of the volume buttons so that the volume dialog comes up and then use the screen to change the level. You can go up and down 1 bar at a time, rather than 3.
You can have up to 16 levels (instead of 6) with Volumex

Plus other great volume related features.
is there any way to get volume controls in the notification area of cm7? where the no service line used to be would be awesome. ive got the hard keys mod for menu/back on volume controls, so a quick and awesome soft volume control would be awesome.
thanks in advance!
Volumer++ in the market puts a link in the notification bar to volume controls.
I use it since I made my volume buttons Home/back.
Not exactly what you wanted, but maybe close enough.
Quick settings also has a volume option.
As I understand, does mooja mean to have volume control as softkey or button savior instead of menu/back/home
Me too, mooja.

I would love it if it was somehow configurable in CM7 whether you wanted the menu/back buttons or vol+/vol- in the notification bar, and the same for the hard keys. I used to have a Coby tablet and it had the same number of buttons as the nook, but the hard keys on the side were menu/home (the big button on front was "back"). The ROM for the Coby had the vol+/vol- keys in the notification bar, and I thought that worked out perfectly. That was much more convenient than the current setup in CM7 with the menu/back keys in the notification bar.
Hi everyone
I just changed the screen of my hd2 but when I put the cover the volume button doesn't work.. I can push it with a sharp object (screwdriver, toothpick) so in fact it's not broken but it's a bit boring tu up and down the volume..
I'm on android (ICS) and I want to know if there are any alternative "tweaks" to replace the "real" button ? Like on iPhone when your home button is broken you can download a tweak via cydia..
If someone can help me, it will be great
Thaaanks !
PS : Sorry for my english..
no one know ?
There are widgets and apps that you can use to change volume within Android, but if your device uses the volume buttons for CWM then you'll need the physical buttons working.
Well you should be able to go to your settings and volume options and adjust it that way, alternatively clicking on the clock on the bottom right corner should bring up a menu that volume is normally located.
@spunker88 Yes for cwm I use the physical buttons.. What's the names of the apps and widgets ?
@Bernie Nolan Thanks dude
But the main problem is when I'm doing a phone call I can't up/down the volume..
I use Volume widget, you can select which volume you want to adjust (music, ringer, etc) or have a widget with multiple volume toggles. Its pretty nice and free. During a call you would have to go back to the home screen to change volume.

Thank you I just downloaded an app on the market
I know there have been related topics of the volume rocker buttons only controlling media volume, but my question is spawned by something else that I was able to do a few days ago.
So I used to have a HTC amaze, the volume rockers controls the ringer/notifications. I liked that. I tend to change my notification/ringers often throughout the work day. But now I'm noticing on my SIII that the buttons only control media, which I understand is practical seeing as how ringers/notifications are thought of as a set it and forget it.
But the other day I was at the movies and was able to hit my volume rocker and it controlled my ringer volume and went all the way down to vibrate. And I did this from the home screen. I do it now, and it controls media. I know that you can hole the power button and you have quick access to vibrate, silence and sound and then when hitting the volume rockers you can adjust the sliders to control system, ringer and notification.
Any ideas on why I was able to control my ringer/notification volume via the rockers but now I cannot?
The volume settings are environment sensitive: if you're in a media app (includes all apps except dialler, ...) you get the media settings.
Homescreen should give you dialler. If not: are you using another launcher than stock?
You can set the other settings through the gear symbol in the on-screen volume display which pops up when pressing the volume rockers

Everything is stock on my phone. I've tried it within multiple different apps, and they all just allow for control of media volume, even the dialer.
I'm coming from a Note 3 which ran Cyanogenmod. Within the settings, there was an option that let me use the volume up and down buttons to rewind and fast forward songs without having to wake my phone up. This came in handy for obvious reasons when I was driving or commuting to school.
I don't see any options in the phone's settings that allow me to do this, but maybe I wasn't looking in the right places? I can't take my eyes off the road every time I want to change the song. I haven't rooted just yet, but I am planning to. I don't want to flash a custom rom because I don't want to lose LG's camera app. If there isn't an option in LG's settings, is there an Xposed mod that will allow the volume buttons to control music?
Gravitybox / Physical Button Music Control both work.
