Speakers sound quality is not equal? - Sony Xperia X Questions & Answers

Hi,
Just noticed, that speakers sound quality is not equal. The main (above) speaker sound have a lot more low frequencies, than the second (below) speaker does.

Does it have a Stereo Mic?

Does the S2 have a stereo mic, and does anyone know how well it handles loud music when video recording.
I currently have the HD2 and have always been impressed with how the mic handles very loud music, no distortion, and good bass on playback through av amp. I have no idea if the HD2 mic is stereo though.
According the Phonearena review it does (not final hardware mind you).

There was one review (can't remember it though sorry, so I can not link you to it) that clearly said the Mic sensitivity on the SGSII was much improved over the SGS.
Recording at concerts or parties was greatly improved in the sound recorded.
Any update on this? Anyone with an SGS2 who can shed some light on the sound during video recording? How well does it really handle loud environments?

Headphone vs Headset Volume/Sound Quality Differences

Hello all,
Just a curiosity I noticed. When using the included headphones with the in-line mic, the sound quality is really very good and the volumes far higher. However, when I try to use my Sennheiser HD 202-II headphones, I notice that the sound volume decreases greatly. For instance, what used to be loud at 12/30 with the headset, doesn't get loud until 22/30. I know it's a small annoyance, but the sound quality seems to suffer as well. Or maybe it's just the fact that I'm coming from a Zune HD whose quality spoiled me completely?
Anyway, was wondering if this could be alleviated by buying a pair of headphones with an in-line microphone. Can anyone recommend any? This Sony set is definitely intriguing (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294) but there aren't any reviews yet.
Thanks for any suggestions.
It's more likely due to differences in impedance and sensitivity - I have no problem with earbuds that do not have an inline mic.
For headphones with low sensitivity, consider an external headphone amp like one of the FiiO amps.
Thanks, didn't realize the included earbuds had an in-line mic. I bought a pair of Klipsch s4's that improve the sound a great deal. I don't think I'd ever need a mic, the one built into the player seems to pick up very well.

[Q] Lumia 920 Mics

Hi, I have three questions.
1. On the Nokia Lumia 920 datasheet it's there saying "Audio: 3 distortion free high amplitude mics" but I can only find two of them. One on the down side and one at the top. Where is the third?
2. The output audio from video is Mono, are any news or tweaks that can change that to stereo? I would be great! Maybe some update. I thought that would be present in Portico update...
3. Also the output audio from video is unbalanced, the bass is very strong and the treble and midrange are very weak. Update coming maybe?
I just think the WP8 is more like a standard basic OS right now and with more time maybe they can tweak it to every single features that the phones have like Lumia 920.
Please let me know what you think
cheers

do not know but 1080p video is still in MONO :crying:
Im sorry, I dont know where the third mic would be, but the point of having multiple mics is not for stereo sound, but for active noise cancellation. I suppose that when recording video, noise cancelation isnt needed, but that is the reason for multiple mics.
I personally thought that the sound from the mics sounded quite good, at least in comparison to other phone recording.

I know that the point of having multiple mics is not for stereo but like the 808 PureView I thought that would record in stereo on the movies...
And the sound from mics are good but seems the levels recorded are too low for the standard sensivity that we hear...
Hopefully they send a patch to fix that :S
The 808 supports stereo Audio recording, the 920 does not - by specification so I guess it won't change anytime soon if at all. They would have designed it another way if they intended to Support it. It's possible that the Placement of the Mics simply does not lend itself well to recording balanced Stereo Sound.
Well I don't know really about that but I have experienced that the upper mic turns into the main mic to pick up the voice when you have hands-free call...

[Q] External Microphone in Headset Jack?

There are some external stereo microphones for IOS that plug into the headphone jack rather than the dock connector. For instance, the IK Multimedia iRig MIC Cast.
They claim that they work on Android as well.
Well, they may work, but do they provide better sound quality than the internal phone microphone, turning it into a decent digital recorder for music, for example? (with the right software, of course).
My question isn't really whether those microphones are better quality than the internal microphones, as I assume they are. But does the headphone jack on Android phones (mine is the Galaxy S4) really provide the input capability for better quality sound, including in stereo?
Of course that jack can transfer sound in both directions, headset and microphone, as it is a phone. For output, the phone provides quality stereo music output to headphones, as modern phones are also music players. However, the microphones on phone stereo headsets are generally low quality monaural microphones only suitable for phone calls, usually not better than the internal microphone, might be worse.
So the question is--is the input function of that jack capable of providing quality stereo input, if one has a quality stereo microphone attached? (No matter how good quality the microphone is, if that jack really cannot transmit that quality sound, but reduces it to a very low resolution and frequency-reduced monaural sound, no point at all in attaching such a microphone.
Anyone know about the input capabilities of the headphone jacks on Android phones. (If it varies from phone to phone, then how about mine, the Galaxy S4?)
Thanks in advance for your input.
Anyone?
Excellent line of thought. Where are the audiophiles? This may be a better option than an expensive Rode mic.

Earphone speaker (device upper speaker)

Hello,
Has anyone experienced any issues with the upper earphone speaker, the sound is bad compared to any other mobile phones.
I have manually tested receiver with the *#808#(Oxygen's built in testing app) and it sounds just OK, but when calling someone, the person on the other side sounds just BAD.
I wonder if this is a network, oxygen OS issue or did I just get a bad upper speaker?
I don't know if this is related but I also have issues with both the mic and the speaker. When I call people they sound quite tinny, and to them there's a slight echo when I speak along with a tinny sound too.
I've seen on the Oneplus forums that's there might be a fix for this and it has to do with the noise cancellation feature, but no one seems 100% sure as to how to fix. There are two fixes going round with mixed results for everyone.
EDIT: Typo & formatting
definitely bad quality ear piece speakers.
We can increase the volume by editing mixer_paths.xml but that highlights the quality problem even more...
I guess we are slowly starting to realize why oneplus is selling phones at amazing price.
the nickname of this phone should be "jerky" and not onyx.
