Hello, I would like to know if it's possible root the Xperia X without unlock the bootloader... I need restore my Titanium backups from my old phone, but I don't want lose my warranty..
Thank you very much, best regards.
Not yet.
You can relock BL after rooting, but doing so wipes your TA partition, which contain DRM keys of your phone.

1) Give it a try. Should work on all xperia devices.
2) Yes you can. Since xperia go got official jb update and you don't have to unlock your bootloader to install jb, there is no problem. You can backup keys with both ics and jb
3) If you unlock your bootloader you will void your warranty in any case. Backup ta partition will not make you loose bravia engine when after unlocking your bootloader you want to relock it. Won't save your warranty this mod

Thanks for your reply you have cleared all my doubts but another question if i restore the ta partition and relock bootloader i have my warranty back correct?
It doesn't matter afaik restoring ta partition to get back your warranty (maybe I am wrong though). What really does matter is relocking the bootloader.

You can be right(I'm the noob XD) but i have read if you not backup the ta partition your warranty is void. So relocking the bootloader is insuficient, you have to relock bootloader and restore the ta partition .
The tool creator said:"Backup TA can backup and restore the TA partition of the device. When you create a backup before unlocking for the first time, then you will be able to restore to full factory state (including a locked bootloader). This means all DRM keys intact, Bravia Engine working in Album and last but not least your warranty when needed":good:

I already read this thread mate, that's because I told you that I could be wrong.
Ok then, there is no reason for not trusting the tool creator. Just root and use this tool. Save and put keys in a safe folder and enjoy

You're welcome mate, it's a pleasure. For any further help let me know.
Hi All,
Great community! Great Device! I just a Xperia Z Ultra and I am loving it! Upgraded from a Samsung Skyrocket.
Question. From what I've read it is possible to modify the system partition while maintaining locked bootloader. I would like to enable SDXC card write access without having a rooted phone.
I found this thread that talks about modifying "/system/etc/permissions/platform.xml" to enable access to the SDXC
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2617921
Seems like it should work for the Xperia Z Ultra.
Is there anyway I can make this change offline without rooting my phone? Perhaps making a backup SEUS, editing and then restoring a modified version with flashtool?
I suppose I could downgrade, root, backup TA, upgrade, flash recovery, root, modify system and then relock.
Any advice on a better way. Does this sound like a reasonable plan?
Thanks!
-Mark
I would do it the last way,
Downgrade
Root
Backup TA
Upgrade
Unlock BL
Backup TA again (make sure to name it so you know it's the unlocked version)*
Flash recovery
Flash superSU update
Modify system
Relock.
* This will allow you to re-unlock the BL without the data wipe that happens if you use flashtool/adb to unlock the BL
In xperia z2, is any security system against root like the knoxx of samsung? Which has a counter and void the warranty?
If not, the root void the warranty?
And the last question. There is already the root for version 4.4 with unlocked bootloader?

No need, xperia security is among the hardest to crack, not happened at all since 2011 and only 1 person ever did in 2011
It can be rooted eaisly but as said security isnt a problem with root or modding or bootloader unlock.
Root and bootloader unlock voids warrenty but you can reinstate your warrenty by backing up your TA before unlocking bootloader
You can unroot and restore your TA later
Xperias can be restored to a 100% factory state, there are no flash counters or anything of that sorts
Any questions... Just ask

What is TA? And how i can backup it?
Sorry, I'm a newbie in this area ...
I searched for index topics, but i don't found ... There is here a simple tutorial on how to root the z2? And installing TWRP mode or clockwork (I think that's how you write it).

1. TA partition contains drm keys and other unique numbers to your device (these existing upholds your warrenty and upholds some xperia features such as X-Reality and PS4 remote play)
This link you can use this tool to backup TA but you need to root first
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
2. Root via root tools (general section or development sections) (this depends on firmware version blah.bla.314 firmware or before is rootable with locked bootloader
3. Cwm or twrp requires a unlocked bootloader however if you have root you can install [NUT]'s dual recovery
I've had my z2 for two days now and previously flashed my HTC one XL so I'm not super new but still pretty green with it all. Will it matter being an Australian phone for the root etc? I don't plan on flashing a rom at the moment I'm pretty happy with the stock firmware
Cheers
Hey all
New to the Z5C and just wondering what the go is with the TA keys?
I know with the Z3C (Previous phone) you had to backup the TA keys or you lost them forever, is this the same with the Z5?
If I were to unlock the bootloader would I loose the DRM keys forever like the previous models, or can they be recovered by re flashing a firmware file?
Thanks

You will lose your drm keys. There is tool which you can take backup from your drm keys. now there is also possibility to restore drm keys (emulate them) like on previous models.
This
http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672
Also kernels like androplus kernel and xpower rom contains drm restore by default
If phone needs repairing under warranty i think you need ta-backup
Not that I ever bothered with backing them up but yes it's the same with the Z5C too. Once you unlock the bootloader it'll wipe the TA partition too along withDRM keys so better back it up if you want to hold on to your warranty and whatever Sony proprietary features on the stock ROM. And if you happen to lose the DRM keys do not try to flash someone else's on to yours otherwise it'll be an epic brick.
Also if you do happen to lose your DRM keys you can still enable the sony features with custom Roms/kernel available.

Can anyone tell us if reflashing the stock rom over a custom rom will reinstate the LOCKED BOOTLOADER and the DRM KEYS!
Your help is always appreciated, Thanks in advance.
Will not reinstall them. After unlocking of bootloader DRM keys are gone forever. The only way to keep DRM keys is before unlocking of bootloader to make backup of TA partition.

Every thread i have been on, require us to root the device first!
So does that mean we cant backup TA Partition for DRM KEYS? As for root bootloader should be unlocked for this device.
With Lollipop phone can be rooted without unlocking of boot loader. Then you can make backup of TA partition. After backup phone can be upgraded to Marshmallow, then bootloader can be unlocked and phone rooted. In fact my phone also is rooted, I don't need DRM keys and don't make backup of TA partition. Why you need backup of DRM keys?

Thanks for such a fast response.
The reason is because i really want to root my device. But people over net sometimes complain for issues at camera(quality reduction and non functionality) after unlocking bootloader. I dont even know if these are really related. I just wanted to be ready if anything happens.
Please tell having a TA BACKUP for DRM, is that necessary or not. And TA BACKUP from my lollipop will work at my marshmallow as well ryt!
My phone is rooted and don't find any quality problem with camera or something else .
