Hi All,
I've got a gtab with a custom tnt rom,I would like to get gtab work with android >= 4.4 , I found some work done by borkata at tabletroms.com ..and he said that he attempted to get android 4.4 work on gtab but issue was in the kernel. and he doesn't have this device to try himself...
Point is that rom might be ready because Borkata is still developing some rom for adam notion ink (device very similar to gtab except the ram which is 1gb on adam instead of 512mb on gtab). I'm available to use my spare time to get it work, but I need some expert who can help me to explain what steps I need to do.... I've got computer science experience and I've already read some guide around here....What basically I need is a mentor who can assist me on this process.....
My first question is: Since we already have a kernel for gtablet, could I use it instead of that in the adam rom and try to flash it?
If not, how can I download the latest kernel and generate one for gtable? if so, any good guide around?
Same question for the rom, can I download the AOSP and create one for gtablet? if so, any good guide around?
Finally, for any issue over this work, would someone be available to help me to troubleshooting?
Thanks

Used SuperOneClick which says it has worked however none of the Root checkers say it is and the Super user apps can't update their binaries, anyone know how to properly root these tablets?
I too have purchased this tablet from ALDI, I am very happy with it. Would love to be able to root it... you know what I mean

I have successfully rooted it following the instructions from http://whrl.pl/RdvMXo
However I had to do some things a little different, (after reading the guide you'll understand my next bit)
after I clicked the restore data and it doing the restore it's meant to reboot the tablet although mine didn't so after trying this several times I rebooted it manually to which it actually worked.
My only anger towards this tablet is that it was advertised as 1.2GHz CPU when in fact it's 1GHz.
Champion! Worked for me, Only took 10min.
Now that the device is rooted, what would you suggest next?
Im not well versed on the apps, roms or other things to run on a tablet. So any ideas would be great.
My phone is rooted with Clockwork Mod and a custom rom, is this possible with the tablet?
And once again, thanks for the help
Fred

See now I haven't done anything ROM wise with my tablet as of yet because there are no ROMs that I can find for our little chinese made no name brand tablet, I'll be keeping my ears and eyes open for any ROMs I can find or ones that people have tested, I'm just not keen to test one of them myself and brick my tablet.
Hi, I need someone's help in testing a new version of my Online Nandroid script. It has built-in support for MTK based devices such as yours. If anyone would like to try the beta, please send me a PM.
Hi,
I'm sure that's a dumb question, but I had to ask it.
I have a Gen8 tablet, and would like three things:
Backup the whole ROM in order to put it back later on
Use that ROM in order to build another one for the same device
Use that ROM (look&feel, apps and so on) to build another one for another device
I've seen that some firmwares (with root) are available for this tablet, and would like to understand how they were built.
Did the developers start from aosp + archos "modified" kernel, or did they start from the existing ROM (aos files from Archos)? Or even a mix of all that?
I installed the SDE yesterday, and have yet to make a complete backup.
Thanks.
Its hard to say where to start after asking these questions. You should read a lot before doing it. Roms based on Cyanogenmod like Buzcuit's one are easy to backup. If you base a new rom on the existing one you will get the bugs of the main rom (Bizcuit's for example) and the bugs of the new rom.
Thanks for your reply.
I don't know if I'll try a new ROM for such an old device, but do you know how these ROMs were made?
I've seen there how to build a new kernel for the tablet, but not a complete system (I often build android-x86, but never tried aosp).
This is rooted stock firmware. Its made by Archos. You should read a bit more about it. I am not a developer and I have pretty basic knowledge and I havent tried myself. Biz and the others can help you much more then me. But ya, u have to read pretty much to start.
Ok, thanks.
I have posted it on another thread but no luck so I will post a new thread. I have tf201. Its an awesome device (aside from the week wifi signal) and I have been happily draining its battery for the last 2.5 years. However the time has come to move to a custom rom. Asus abandoned the device for no reason and things are starting to slow down and its just sad. So I am thinking of taking the big step for rooting and going to a custom Rom in order to restore the glory of this awesome device. I searched and I have concluded that perhaps the best solution is the SlimKat rom but here things get tricky. Most of the guides I have seen mention that though its a TF300 rom it is compatible with TF201 but the process only mentions guidelines for TF300 users.
So I need help and I am sure there are a couple of people out there in the same need. I am on a stock version of 4.1.1 with a 10.4.2.18 kernel. Can anyone provide a full process for doing the upgrade. And I mean a full process like rooting, installing twrp , upgrading kernel and etc. I know most people post links saying go there and you will find what u need but when a thread is 100 pages its like searching a needle in a haystack and I really don't want to brick my device doing something, someone suggested and 10 pages later it was discovered that he was wrong and I missed it.
I know its a lot of asking but for someone who is fairly knowledgeable with android with the device I am sure that devoting a little time for people who just started experimenting with android development will do a lot of good for setting some good foundation for them to go on and one day give back to the community.
Thank you in advance.

I am in the exact same position as you.
Lets hope someone can help!!!
Hello,
I was in the same position as you. And I decided to unlock and install a new rom. I did that on July. In concrete in have installed the CROMBi-kk ROM the link in the developers section is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2773812
To unlock is very easy. Just download the Asus app and install it in Android and follow the steps.
I Followed this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2041627
In this link I did the unlock and the installation of Adroid SDK (this driver for the PC for recognizing the device when you start in bootloader mode).
After installing the driver I follow the post #4 in the CROMBi-kk thread to flash and install the new rom.
Sorry for my English. I don’t know I have explained it ok.
Hi everyone, i have a huge issue with my desie x. I have been interested about android and I have decided to install one of the mods the modders are making in this category which is "android development ". So I did follow the tutirial, but I have ended with a "Rom" I don't even know what does that mean but anyway it is very very slow and buggy and I have absolutely no idea how to get back to the original android I need any other good android version that will speed up my phone . I remember that I have used clockwork mod and that's all I can remember. If anyone could write me a step by step tutorial in bullet pointsaabout changing it back ASAP so ny phone runs fast I would be very grateful.

Without any details no one can help you out! Check what rom have you installed .. Go to About Phone..
Next check out other ROMs available here.. Vimiro and Mysensedx5 are good if you want Sense 5 roms. or go for slimrom if you want an aosp android.. Do check out the bugs first though.
Greetings everyone
I have this awesome tablet for my young son who loves to watch YouTube kids
The current FW which is an OFW will not permit the DL of YouTube kids I think due to compatibility issues etc.
I ask anyone to advise on how to load a CFW or something to allow me to run YTK and other items. Obviously I would need android 5 or higher.
Where could I find step by step instructions to do this? I am not sure of the detailed ways so I am needing patience from you.
I would appreciate all the help, so will my son
Thank you
Have you tried rooting it? What model is your tablet - 10.1?

Try the 7.1.2 Nougat Rom
I prefer Nougat without gapps and overclock the CPU to 1400 MHz.
https://www.google.nl/amp/s/forum.x...elopment/rom-android-7-0-nougat-t3471350/amp/
Good luck
I have the 10.1 GT-P 7510 I had XDA root it for me through their 1 click root system because I didn't want to take the chance on messing anything up because you read so much online about people bricking devices trying to root them. I also have kind of the same question, I have an old version of Netflix on mine that runs perfect but would like to go to a newer version, and I would also like to install kodi or xbmc on this tablet so I can take it with me on trips and be able to watch movies. after extensive searching I was able to find out that supposedly kodi 14.2 helix will work on this tablet, but trying to find it is essentially impossible, and when you do find the file it always seems to be broken in some way and wont work, supposedly there is a program called SBMC which is a fork of kodi for this device, but can't find that one anywhere. so my question is this because I am so new to this rooting thing. My tablet is already rooted with Super SU and I would like to know where I could look to get instructions how to install the nougat 7.1 rom or even a different rom to be able to go to some newer apps at this point I have been a little timid about doing too much because at least Netflix is working, and the xda tech told me not to factory reset it update it and a few other things, and a few other things because then it won't be rooted. any help in this will be very much appreciated and please feel free to move this post if it is in the wrong area and I apologize it is my first time posting. I will say this though it was well worth the 40.00 to have xda root it for me because it can be a bigger process than people think depending on the device the guys are awesome.

I also have a 10.1 GT-P 7510(wifi) 32g. The P7500 and the P7510 are basically the same and use the same firmware. I've had mine rooted for a long time. I use Kingoroot because it's easily replaced with Supersu. As far as ROMs go I've had only difficulties. What I can tell you is that for myself this has been a little difficult up til possibly just recently. There are many ROMs available here at XDA, most of them were unstable. The 7.1 Nougat, https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-10-1/development/rom-android-7-0-nougat-t3471350, looks promising but I haven't got CWM recovery to flash the zip without giving me a "No File_Contexts warning. If I could get a tar.md5 ROM I would use Odin3 in a heartbeat. Version 1.85 is the one I use most and thats just to undo the softbricks, by flashing in the original firmware. If you live in the US its this, https://www.androidlegend.com/update-samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-wi-fi-p7510-with-ics-4-0-4-uelpl/. Run that through Odin if you ever get stuck in bootloop crash the tab, pretty much anything but a hardbrick. The 8.0 Rom I'm waiting for the developers to complete.
