[KERNEL][Z3] 78Kernel v3 - Xperia Z3 Android Development

Here is a kernel we would say pretty much stock built through the sources
Build kernel from clean sources
Add features ramdisk:
busybox auto-injection (/system/xbin)
init.d support - automatically creates init.d in (/system/etc)
twrp-sony-recovery-boot-script based (Thanks @nilezon /jackfagner github script)
TWRP recovery 3.0.2-0 Modified (vol up or down when White LED)
Removed SuperSU in TWRP recovery to root because this method will not work
Systemless root support
SElinux permissive
Debugging enabled by default
Disable debugging notification icon in the status bar
Kernel insecure (ro.secure=0)
Add features Zimage:
Build with Linaro 4.9.1
Fix all errors and compilation warnings
Add voltage CPU control
Fade in/out led notifications. Thanks to @v-yadli
Implement sysfs interface for vibrator intensity (set to 23 as default, change)
Enable toggle for CRC (stock Y, change)
RIC disabled
Add and set as default Auto SMP hotplug with some mods
Add controls for optional scheduler features. Set both, arch_power and gentle_fair_sleepers to disabled by default
Note that not all resource requests will be granted, this is a custom kernel built for my private use
But I'll be ready to the experience you have with some other kernel and / or feature that will bring improvements
* Required Bootloader Unlocked!
* Installation:

-Flash a Systemless SU: SuperSU-v2.78-SR1
Note:
- The first boot may take some time, and give the impression that you are in a bootloop. Just wait and it will boot up normally eventually.
* Restore DRM:
(v3 supports DRM key restoration method @tobias.waldvogel, thread) Recomended!
-Flash DK.ftf
or

78Kernel_v2 build from sources (23.5.B.0.303)
78Kernel_v3 build from sources (23.5.B.0.368)
*Add and set as default Auto SMP hotplug with some mods. IMPORTANT: Need to disable mpdecision in order to avoid conflicts
Open file /system/etc/set_governor.sh and delete line:
Code:
start mpdecision
*Add controls for optional scheduler features. Set both, arch_power and gentle_fair_sleepers to disabled by default
*Removed ANDROID_LOW_MEMORY_KILLER_CONSIDER_SWAP, Implemented in firmware .291 that causes swap zram problems full lag device

Working well on fragment ROM V4.0, thanks mate, will report if I come across any issues, but flawless so far.

Probably a problem of combining rom with the kernel
Try flash rom stock to see if the problem still persists

Make sure you are using SuperSU version recommended on the thread
SuperSU SR2 cause boot loop, SR3 should also be your problem

Actually, I will not do it.
The breeder of custom rom is responsible for verifying your rom and finding out why it does not work with my kernel
Sorry, my kernel is built for rom and custom rom based on non-highly modified stock, we do not know what's actually put inside of your constructions

78Kernel_v2
Sony has released firmware number 23.5.B.0.303
78Kernel v2 is built clean from this release and added all features of v1
Some of the differences is that in fw 291 has been added CONFIG_ANDROID_LOW_MEMORY_KILLER_CONSIDER_SWAP, (zram full) which for me is one of the causes of lags and or delays in multitasking, fw 303 behaves faster and responsive
Full list of changes can be checked on my github

I also have bootloops. The strange thing is that elite and stock kernel work without issues on Existenz. I know it's not your kernel fault, but could you help us suggesting what could be the problem? I was able to catch a kmsg http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/582b9a4d6983a/kmsg.txt
Thank you!

sorry,i have never used Advanced stock kernel before,,so can you tell me how to install this kernel, please?.my Device is on MM version and still locked boot

Good day @Gustavo RD78,
there is some possibility that you can add the app shortcuts and the quick settings tiles in a next update is that I saw it in Franco.kernel and this is only for the Nexus / pixel so it would be nice to have these functions in our Z3 , Thanks is a very good job and I tried to try the first version of your kernel 78kernel_v1 and I always enter a bootloops I hope now to try this version 2 and I will share my experiences

I was wondering if you can point me to a zip or ftf for the OS this kernel is based on, all I could find was the source code for the "Domoco" japan z3's, couldn't find anything else :\
If this really has fixed some performance issues, I WANT, my phone sometimes get's really slow from time to time and I have to restart system UI or restart completely (Like worse than a SD201)

[KERNEL] [ICS] [Stock WIFI restore] Stock ICS with init.d support+root+cwm! [25 May]

Latest Kernel mod -> Go Here
Based on 4.1.B.0.431 ICS 4.0.4 Kernel, features new CPU governors and autoroot.
Q. Who would benefit from this?
Those who want to stick to stock kernel for Official ICS (4.1.A.0.562), but would still want to get the benefits of init.d scripts, and native root access!
I personally feel ICS stock kernel is more battery friendly than Night-elf RC2 kernel.
Q. Features?
- init.d support (credits DooMLoRD for showing the way)
- ro.secure=0 (that is now adb has native root access!)
- clockworkmod 5.5 (credits Night-elf)
- no other changes to stock kernel
Download
boot_ICS_plus_v5.img
Changes: Previous features +
1. Switched to Doomlord's arc ics recovery (better features)
2. Important bug-fixes. (Please update!)
boot_ICS_plus_v4.img (updated 2012-05-19)
Changes: Previous features +
1. Perfect ADB connection in recovery.
2. Short vibrate on entering recovery added
boot_stock_ICS_initd_root_cwm_v3.img
Changes: Now restores stock WIFI modules (so you can directly flash from Night-elf kernel without losing WIFI!)
Those who are using v2 without problems do not need to update!
boot_stock_ICS_initd_root_cwm_v2.img
Changes: CWM 5.5, with ADB & USB mount (credits Night-elf)
Q. How to install?
Just as you install a custom kernel.
If no wifi, just delete "modules_version" and "modules_reversion" in "/system/lib/modules" and reboot
Steps:
1. Follow this guide to install official ICS + root
(Do not install CWM)
2. If you already have DooMLoRD/nAa CWM, go to /system/bin with any root explorer and delete recovery.tar and chargemon
3. Power down device and get into FASTBOOT MODE -> switch off device hold menu key & plugin usb. (LED notification turns BLUE)
4. check fastboot with "fastboot devices"
5. flash boot image
fastboot flash boot boot.img
6. Reboot with "fastboot reboot"
7. Enjoy!
Nice job!! Thanks!!

That would be nice too.
Most important is CWM recovery.
Don't want to add it manually after flashing rom..
Yeah would be nice to see recovery, cause system recovery doesn't allow to mount sdcard in recovery mode, moreover adb cannot see phone in system recovery.

NO, NO !! His ramdisk has installer for his WiFi modules!
Would have to modify his ramdisk anyway!
Night-elf kernel is good, but it is not from latest ICS sources, I feel battery drain is a little bit more than his GB kernel!!

Yep but that is no big deal. Make a diff patch for the new ramdisk (there shouldn't be much changes, and there is just a few files on the ramdisk...) + remove res/modules folder and launch entry from init.rc.

Good one, but no busybox ?
Why is it that every time i use NE's kernel i end up with no wifi when moving to another one? It's really annoying, ffs
Oh, and your kernel seems really fluid, had no issues on gaming, while i had on nightelf's and inteks'.
Because NE kernel has own wifi modules, which not working with other kernels.
Both this is not the NE kernel's topic.

[ROM][27.08.2012][CM10 based][OTA Support] FireWalkerX Pure 1.0.55

FireWalkerX Pure 1.0.55
------------------------------------
This rom is based on CM10 latest with my own optimizations
Feature List:
------------------
* Optimisations for better battery life
* OTA app for updates (Supports partial updates)
* BurningX Version 1.0 Kernel based on Siyah kernel (siyah and others based on it does not support OTA!)
* Gestures - 8 different gestures currently build in - see this thread
* Supports extweaks from version 1.0.33-hotfix
* Bluetooth Stereo supported
Download the file FWXPure-x.x.xx-NOGAPPS-signed.zip and gapps-jb-signed.zip and flash both
dont worry, if you forget to download the gapps zip, OTA will have it as an update.
Update: there is a minor glitch in the ast part, sometimes it will do the last patch, sometimes you have to do it by hand (its easy, your allready in recovery mode, just select
install zip, then zip from internal sdcard look inside OTA-Updater/download/firewalkerx-pure-1.0.40.zip fix is coming when i can figure out why it doesnt work on the last
when it works on gapps, there is no kernel update in gapps... strange...
adding features and mods that i find worth putting in
Pictures coming (for now, imagine CM10, since nothing has been changed on the UI yet)
Big thanks to:

im experimenting with the ]dorimanx kernel right now, so i might push that one out instead of the one included with a new update within a few days...
after some consideration, ive come to the conclusion that ill go for siyah instead...
it will be included in the next ota, tomorrow or friday...
I have postponed the use of siyah, and siyah based kernels, i need to figure out why applying OTA triggers samsungs 3e recovery instead of the cwm based recovery, which makes it imposible to apply OTA patch automatically...

I understand ! ! But i flashed latest syiah (4.1rc1) for now without problems.
Bettery seems good. If ota works we will see after you`ve posted a new update. Will try by ota!
Day 2 day usage works quite well on siyah. Only problem is the automated appliance of OTA which doesn't work because all siyah based kernels include samsungs own OTA updater which only accepts Samsung signed packages
After using your rom for more than a day now i have to say job well done sir.
Im a fan of Dorimanx kernel but something went wrong from version .63 onwards. its had the perfect balance between performence and battery life (for my personal usage of course), But, Since i gotta keep on flashing, i flashed GMs latest siyah and must say its running pretty well, sad bout the OTA packages have to be signed by Samsung, oh well, we cant have it all, can we?

Venezuela Xperia U Mod [ VeXU ]
This is a ROM i've recooked based on Sony's Stock 6.1.1.B.1.100 ROM (Lee480), debranded, trying to keep all really usefull tweaks, leaving apart a lot of placebo tweaks. Surely, there is still some placebo tweaks left that i've not cleaned, but it requires a lot of time of testing. Maybe you can help to make it better.
I've mixed this ROM for my Locked Bootloader Xperia U st25a
Unlocked Bootloader people, I had a report from tarmvred, he has able to install Transcendence Kernel with this rom. Just do not install AnDyX's governors with custom kernels.

Recommendations
Battery Saving: Do not install Facebook official app. Facebook official app is a hungry battery eater, it will keep Android OS process higher on your phone. If you need it, you must disable sync facebook contacts, chat, gps ubication & notifications. Additionally you must hibernate it with greenify app. If you want low consume notificacions from facebook change your email notification address in your facebook account, and set this email account in your phone. I had a gmail account only for facebook notifications.
Dialer: yes i know, sony's dialer is a piece of crap. I really use exDialer App instead.
A-GPS: Maybe FasterFix or FasterGPS may help you. My first time GPS use after a complete fresh ROM installation with google's location service (internet online) tooks 1 minute to give me coordinate data, without this apps.

Venezuela Xperia U Mod [ VeXU ]
This is a ROM i've recooked based on Stock 6.1.1.B.1.89 TIM ROM, debloated, trying to keep all really usefull tweaks, leaving apart a lot of placebo tweaks. Surely, there is still some placebo tweaks left that i've not cleaned, but it requires a lot of time of testing. Maybe you can help to make it better.
I've mixed this ROM for my Locked Bootloader Xperia U

first, the rom is very good for all things, for gaming, and normal uses. the aroma installer is very good and good selectable elements. the option for shutdown the led bar is awesome, and the posibiliti for use gobernorsis very good.
in conclusion i will try a few days for try and see tthe battery life ;p , for the rest is an awesome rom, good job guy
Dude you should make a version for Unlocked bootloader too. Your rom seems really nice . I was looking for a new stock-based rom but almost all xda-developers are working on custom-based roms

The selective tweaks makes the diference, not all tweaks you find on internet works in every device and on every Android OS version in the same way. I have found a tweak in some roms just doing the oposite, yes, lagging the phone, wasting battery, i'm talking about the sdcard speed up tweak which works for a few minutes but after a while your android os goes completely laggy.
Remember AnDyX's Governors are capped to 200mhz when the screen goes off, so yes this gives you a lot battery saving while you are not using it, but sometimes this generates delay on wake ups, and a big delay when some one calls you while there was a heavy process in background. Additionaly, sometimes makes audio clips when you turn off the screen or wakes up your phone. My favorite gov is lulzactiveq with CFQ but i don't realy use it, i've just test the govs for several days. It can fit on some people use.

i don't know what it takes to make it unlocked bootloader compatible. I think just removing recovery and not installing govs should work with any kernel but i'm unable to test it

Can someone please explain the 7th step i.e. "Install this CWM Recovery (modded gov to performance)". I am not familiar with this process. I am on unlocked boot loader. Usually what I do is-
1. Root with flashtool,
2. Install CWM with Recover X,
3. Go to CWM and flash the .zip file.
Is this rom going to work this way or what? If not then please explain the 7th step please. Again, I'm on unlocked boot loader.

You need a PC to make this step works. have you opened the zip file and realize that inside there's a .bat file?
these are the steps from atis112
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1948455
you just need to read "Install" & "how to use" procedures
Hi guys there is an error in the installation process for keyboard & led bar options, i have fixed it, is not a critical thing. Will be uploaded soon.

Wusup guys. Me again. This time with some crazy thing - CM12 for x10. I don't have device on hands so I can't even tell you if it''s booting. Don't expect that anything will work on this build. Just be happy if it boots and provide logcat anyhow. I barely compiled this thing dealing with tonns of errors..starting over again and again..so this pre-alpha's main aim is - to boot. Please test and report.
Download here
no mirrors please..
Extract & flash .ftf from zip. then flash rom (if recovery is working ) but better flash rom first using CWM 6 then flash provided ftf..just in case nothing will work. make sure you will be able to restore your x10 from hell state UB only.
This is RAW build..mostly based on Tof's work..with 3.0.8 kernel.. (Thanks bud )
Finally..hit thanks button and feed me a juicy burger if this will boot :fingers-crossed: :good:

flashed kernel. but cannot go to cwm. not even cwm lights.just showing feralab logo.
Wow Fera, you have excelled yourself here! I am so going to try this!!
Just tried flashing it and it only seems to flash the kernel (Flashtool flashes it really quickly, a couple of seconds, it would be much longer if it was the entire ROM flashing) Am I doing something wrong?

ok. cm12 kernel don't have recovery access..use any kernel with cwm6 to flash rom..then pull out battery and flash cm12 kernel to boot new rom.
Tried as you mentioned several times.
Downloaded rom file just provide ROM FILE WITHOUT ANY EXTENTION. just a file. When i rename it as zip, cwm says cannot open. When i rename as RAR, cwm cannot find file. Plz provide proper ROM.ZIP file if you can

It keeps redirecting to register and pay for download?
The free download is currently not available - Please try again later! Premium account users are not affected by this temporary limitation.
Ok I tried internet explore to download and it is now downloading. So it must of been my ad-blocker on chrome stopping it? It say's it will take approx 3 hour's. I'll try to reflash when it's finished.
Thank you
Tried to install this. Installed the rom first and then flashed the kernel. It gets stuck at the bootlogo. It doesn't spin like Kernel v27 does. I couldn't get logcat to connect to my phone so nog logs sadly
~Aeny
ROM and Kernel install without problems, however as above, the boot process hangs on the FeraLab logo. (waited over 10mins)
No dmesg available at this boot stage.
@FeraVolt maybe you should place /system on sd. Maybe you should check lx cm12 sources , they did the same. just an ext4 partition on sd must be made on user's side

Tried it today, if you install gapps the blur stops.
The rom is working quite well for what I was expecting.
It is a too laggy, process "com.android.phone" FC's and the notification bar freezes, you need to restart the phone. No reboots.
Wifi, bluetooth, gps, accelerometer, camera (8Mpx, video low), are all working.
This is a great first version of what could be a great rom for our old X10...
Thank you Fera!

I have experienced two screen down problem( i cant express the problem exactly. While watching videos suddenly lines starts to show up and screen becomes unresponsive.)
I chose xceed kernel. I think it is related to that. Now i switched to stock kernel lets see.
Variants
Is this ROM exclusive to only D855?
Thanks in advance,

Update Problem
Great work with the ROM, which flashed perfectly and offers much for the user. I installed the system and cruised around with it successfully for a while, then flashed the update. Unfortunately I got stuck in a bootloop with a dialog box saying "Home has stopped" and I had to pull the battery to restore a different ROM. I chose Fly kernel in Aroma, so I think I'll try to flash again with the stock kernel to see if it makes any difference. The good news is that V1.1 is great. Keep up the wonderful work!!!
UPDATE: Success!!! Flashed with stock kernel and the update to 1.2 flashed perfectly. I don't know if my original problem was related to the Fly kernel, but I'm quite happy with the stock kernel and a great ROM.
IAM traying to update 1.2 when I flashed 1.2 and reboot the phone now IAM getting Home has stopped I can't do any thing how to up date this one IAM in stock kernel I trayed full wipe and data but still getting this

sofrir this same problem when testing , and from what I can see
really it is related to Xceed kernel.
and for this reason I will remove it in the next version
leaving only the stock kernel and Flykernel

by what came to understand
you may have the wrong order to make the installation of the update v1.2
step by step would be the next !!
first install the version 1.1 powerg3 >> after installation restart the device
expect all system of files from rom load
put your data and start normally
then immediately re-enter the TWRP and pass via flash upgrading from v1.2
restart the machine and ready

I'm glad you managed to friend
remembering that when installing the powerg3 v1.1 you can not then immediately install the update v1.2
why give conflicts between files !!
right would primeriamente install the rom powerg3 v1.1
expects the systema and the files of the rom load and then immediately re-enters the TWRP and shall update v1.2.

Many thanks for your advice, which identified what I probably did wrong. I didn't IMMEDIATELY enter TWRP to flash the update after flashing v1.1. I fooled around too long customizing my installation of v1.1 before trying to flash v1.2. But all is well now, and keep up the great work!!!
