I got my first Samsung Galaxy S III 4G today and found this site online.
I always had Apple phones, so I was very keen to modify this new phone with a custom ROM after reading about them online and how good Android is better than Apple.
After much reading through the forums (tbo its all a little confusing) I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1959605 which as i understand it, in order to have a custom ROM you first must ROOT your phone.
So I followed the instructions to the letter and after everything was finished my phone booted up and now it says "No Service"
I searched some more and found a thread that says type *#06# into the phone to find the IMEI and mine says null/null.
Can't make or receive any calls/texts now and am scared my brand new phone is worthless ...
I am with Telstra Mobile Australia, and I've tried to search for a replacement image? like something to make my phone go back to how it was before, but I can't find anything.
Really sad now, and I'm dead meat when this gets found out if I've broken my new phone. If I take the phone back to the store, will I be in trouble? Like they will say too bad, now you have to pay a two year contract for a broken phone?
If someone can help me please I would be so grateful.
Thx.

Maybe your efs folder got corrupted.
It's annoying but it's solvable.
Check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918601&highlight=no+imei
Is it the same issue as you have?
Actually, I think if only the IMEI has changed I don't think it's the efs folder.
I think some more experienced users can help you.
Good luck
Solved!
This place rocks!
Found the answer to my problem searching the forum. Only took me a few days to find it
Thx to those who attempted to help me, muhcly appreciated

Can u explain what u did to fix it? Or leave link to the solution.. Thanks
Sure no problem.
The thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946915
But if you have the same issue (to save you reading the whole thing) you need this: http://d-h.st/Fhb Param_Bin_I9305.zip - 612.14 KB
which you load with Odin3.
# Make sure you have Samsung Kies or the Samsung USB Driver installed on your PC.
# Download and Extract: Odin3 3.04.zip - 457.11 KB to your PC if you don't already have it.
# Download and Extract: Param_Bin_I9305.zip - 612.14 KB to your PC.
# With your Phone Switched Off, press and hold: 'VOL DN' + 'HOME' + 'POWER' to enter Download Mode.
# Connect your phone to your PC via USB Cable and start Odin.
# Check your phone is connected by seeing if a COM Port in a Blue box is present under ID:COM.
# Press the 'PDA' Button and select the 'Param_Bin_I9305.tar.md5' file you extracted from the Zip Archive earlier.
# Press the 'PDA' Button and wait for it to finish flashing. If successful, you will see a Green Box with 'PASS!'.
# Wait for your phone to reboot then go to your Dialer and press: *#06#. You should now see your IMEI and your Data Connection will be back.

Hi,
I just tried the rooting method using Kingroot, but the phone got soft-bricked and stays in endless loop after the vodafone logo.
I already booted into stock recovery and did a factory reset, but the problem subsists, so i am desperate for a STOCK rom (kingroot must have messed up some files ... )
I have a V895N-2GVDPT1 (Vodafone Portugal)
-- EDIT --
I have found the KERNEL SOURCE under the "Open Source Code" here: http://www.vodafone.com/content/index/about/what/devices/smartprime6.html !!!
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
How You use that source code for reinstall the system?

Hi,
sorry to read that, actually I got this phone from a friend who lost mine (here in Czech Republic) and I did root it, but I saw that many people had problem after rooting so I un-rooted and at the moment it's working properly... I think there is also this "Purify" maybe it did mess with the rom uninstalling things or who knows what...
I hope you find the way to restore the software...

Useful information for anyone that cant get the phone to go to QDL mode
I tried the unbrck method above and could not get it to work as windows did not detect any com port.
after some mucking around i found if you cant get into QDL mode as needed you have to:
Open your phone. (have to unscrew phone)
Remove battery.
Connect usb cable.
Short the test point next to the sim card holder to ground.
Insert battery.
Windows detects phone.
Remove short from test point.
Proceed with unbrick
Hope this helps

If you try to root with KingRoot, works. But follow the next steps:
-reboot your phone into recovery mod using POWER BUTTON + VOLUME UP BUTTON
-next select english using POWER BUTTON
-next select "WRITE PROTECT SWICH" and select "set write protect off"
-now reboot your phone and start the KingRoot and Root.
-Now your device is rooted.
I need a stock ROM so badly. I removed some system apps I don't use but now I can't update.

1st custom ROM for VF-895N: http://www.needrom.com/download/vodafone-smart-prime-6-vf-895n-debloatedclean-stock/
i hard brick my phone yesterday. trying to flash bootloader with flashfire. (the lazy way) thats what i get. anyways could not turn on n6p, tried charging it for a couple of hours, try holding power button for 30 seconds, try power + volume . tried holding all buttons. nothing work.. read some threads saying its done. look for new phone or send to get repair. then i found tenfar thread. long story short. i used some of tenfar info and rwj5279955.. so big thanks to these two users
here is what i did to get my N6p to turn back on.. brick by bootloader.. this is my first how to .. bear with me. please.
you will need the following https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By19rrbnQfVUVFZEVUZqQzY1RWs/view?usp=sharing
Qualcomm drivers
QFIL software
3 files, patch0, prog_emmc_firehose, rawprogram0 .. for this to work
1. install qualcomm drivers, Connect phone to pc, open Device Manager. if you see under com port Qualcomm USB loader or something along those lines. your good, go to step 2. if not disconnect phone hold power button for 10 seconds, wait for 5 seconds connect phone to pc. check if in com ports you see Qualcomm drives. if you can not get qualcom drivers on com port. just stop. its not going to work..
2. extract the three files. in a folder somewhere easy to remember.
3. install the QFIL software, . once install run QFIL.
4. in QFIL software
if qualcomm driver are found it will say on top of QFIL software Qualcom USB loader 9008
Select Build Type: click Meta Build
Select Build :: patch0 ... if for some reason patch0 doesnt work try rawprogram0
Select Programmer:: pro_emmc_firehose
hit download ...if the blue bar get to half way mark your golden. its going to always fail. the trick is to get the blue bar at least half ways. then you disconnect phone, hold power button, it should turn on.. then you ADB what ever you need to do.
for those that get the fail right away.. while phone connected to pc, hold power button until drivers disappear from device manager.. then disconnect phone, wait for 5 seconds, hold power button, for 10 second,.. wait for 5 seconds .. then connect phone back to pc, wait for device manager to see drivers.. then hit the download button . do this part over and over again ..until it works..
sorry for this horrible guide.. it work for me.. hope it works for you..

Hello thank you so much for your guide, currently trying to unbrick my nexus 6P stuck in 9008 port, could you provide a link for your version of Qfil please? as I'm struggling to find your 2.0.0.2 version I either get 1.0.0 or 2.0.0.3 and they're not working
Update: I've found the version! However when I quick Meta build and attempt to locate XML there's nothing I can select? sorry if this is really simple just never done before thank you

Thank you so much! I messed up my 6P when I tried to flash a bootloader image via Flashfire. I hadn't been in a brick this bas since the good old days of Gingerbread and ROM Manager! For anyone else having similar issues, I got my dead 6P to be recognized as QHSUSB_bulk eventually in Windows 7. I then edited the rawprogram0.xml file (from OP's link) in a text editor. I removed the entries for all the other partitions I didn't want to overwrite (like system and vendor and userdata), leaving only the sbl1 (secondary bootloader, the part of the firmware that actually boots into the system/recovery/bootloader when the device is first powered on) partition entry - because that's what Flashfire said it had flashed the entire bootloader image to. Doing a bit of research, I found that our bootloader image is actually just many different small partitions all grouped together into a single image file. I couldn't figure out how to unpack the bootloader image, so I downloaded a full firmware OTA zip from Google, and lo and behold, there was a "bootloader.sbl1.img" (along with other small partitions) file in the OTA zip. I changed the sbl1.img entry in the rawprogram0.xml file so that it correlated with the filename "bootloader.sbl1.img", I moved the image file into the same folder as the rawprogram0.xml, and then I was able to restore my device to it's previous functionality using the "flat build" download configuration in QFil, though the whole process did take me like 3 hours. Lesson learned - screw using Flashfire for bootloader images.
ERROR: Could not access "C:\temp\vendor.img" with access mode 'rb'
When I'm finally lucky, rebooting, replugging the phone, it looks like it might flash...
...then I see this.
I've given all permissions to all users for full control, on the file, I've run time program as administrator, I don't know what else to do. If it can't open the file, I can't flash my phone. I'm not a Windows administrator so I don't really know what to do to get this to work and I can't find any hints on the forums.
Hello.
I was trying to install a treble rom on my p20 lite and suddenly after flashing i needed to flash stock recovery to make the stock wipes.
I did.
The rom started but with no keyboard. I couldnt pass google part to get to the rom menu.
Ok.
I decided to flash it again.
I did. But this time, the rom never started and i was with stock erecovery, so couldnt flash again.
I went to flash twrp but FRP is LOCKed. Bootloader unlocked, obviously. And bc of that i cant flash ANYTHING.
Tried to flash system, twrp, anything. I cant. Says FRP lock.
Tried to lock bootloader and relock again: I cant. It says it needs to unlock FRP before.
Tried DC PHOENIX, didn't work on my p20.
Scrolled all google and xda for help, nothing.
Tried erecovery stock rom installation. It downloads the files but never installs, i've spent 5 hours waiting for it to go off the 0%. Nothing happens.
Already made erecovery wipe data/cache. Nothing.
Can someone please help me?
Hi there
Can you tell what's your build number if you already knew before this happened?
Also, right now your only hope is your Stock Recovery so let's focus on that:
Please try to download and install the official ROM via the eRecovery a couple of times and connect it to the best Wifi you have.
Do you have bootloader "unlocked" or "locked" right now?
FRP is locked so no changes possible yup.
If you have your bootloader "locked" not "relocked" you have warranty and you can send it to a customer repair center and they can solve it for you.
With the methods we know it's pretty much impossible, altough try this via fastboot command line:
fastboot erase config
then
fastboot reboot
If this does not do it then try with DC-Unlocker software via this link https://www.dc-unlocker.com/huawei-android-phone-frp-unlock
Sorry for insisting,
Best of hopes,
AS

Hey, thanks for the answer.
My build number (ane-lx3 c605 b149)
I tried for like 10 times already to install the firmware from erecovery but it refuses to leave the 0% when installing... Ive waited more than 5 hours already.
When trying these fastboot command lines, i got this: https://imgur.com/a/hrSB8iK

Bc i can't find it in the list of phone model in the software also tried with similar and doesnt work.
My bootloader is unlocked, i guess warranty wont solve my problem bc of that :crying:

Although it has not been tested, there is no reason it shouldn't work. The worse that could happen is you're stuck in the same situation.
Firehose exists for g6 now? Would this allow me to safely pry at LG's bootloader without permanent bricks? Would love to take it into my own hands but couldn't afford the risks before. I'm using a Canadian H873

Yep. Have at it. But, like always, I don't recommend purposely bricking.
I should mention that you don't need to use the xml stuff.
In QFIL in one of the top menus, there's a partition option, where it reads the gpt from the phone and you can select them and flash individual files. So you can flash directly bootloader
or whatever you need from your proper kdz source.
Lot's of people have wrecked there partition table trying to unbrick. That is why I included them.

Did you try it yet?
I'm also trying to fix a dead Canadian H873 (Videotron Carrier). Had tried my hand in the past at creating the patch.xml and rawprog0.xml (one method had me peek at the gpt files using an excel/libreoffice spreadheet) but failed for various reason also not having a proper programmer file didn't help any.
For those that encounter issues with either the programmer file failing or getting sahara fail FHLoader, something like cannot find system file try this:
1. Make sure to reboot phone and hit download to phone in QFIL right away. On my device sahara seemed to be timing out quickly.
2. For the second error using the QFIL included with QPST 2.7.474 fixed it.
Sadly i tried to refresh the phone using the backup files i was given with it but now it doesn't get detected. Holding power button the phone vibrates and nothing else happens. Tread lightly.
So good news the programmer file works (tried it on a H873 Videotron variant), bad news do it right the first time or else.
Time to start searching for a way to force it back into edl.

To clarify i used a backup of the files i had on hand for the device and not the files provided by OP.
Hi everyone, I have just bricked my G6, hard brick I think ( does not charge, cant get into download mode, cant hard reset either, only show Qualcomm qloader 9008"). This happened after I tried cross flashing it from LS993 to H872 ( I now know that a NO NO ). Can someone here help me on how to get it back to life ? I ve read quite a lot of different topics but the more I research the more confused I am. Some say I need to restore to stock firmware, but there is no stock firmware for LS993... Any help would be greatly appreciated and I hope you have a very great day
Read my method, download the files, read it again, and follow the steps.

I did but I am still so confused. Can you please tell me which firmware should I download and the firehose to use too. I think I understood most of the post here, except those 2 things: kdz and firehose.
