Is it true that leeco phones will not receive android 7 ?
Sent from my Le X820 using Tapatalk
Why?
Do you have any source for this? How do you know?
NOT TRUE - http://www.droid-life.com/2017/01/06/leeco-expect-software-updates-soon-address-user-pain-points/
yes, but he does not speak of nougat
I was just reading that you won't be able to receive any updates with international stock rom installed.
Is that really true? I can't find any option in settings to search or install any updates.
I am kind of happy with the international stock rom. No Chinese apps installed, no bloatware (so far found) and google play store is working.
Thanks!

What do you mean under international stock rom? Could you be more specific?
There are so called "webshop" roms, which are - as you can see in the name - modified by the online stores. Those roms are based on Indian version of eui , installed lots of bloatwares, multilanguages are contained. These are not official roms, not gonna be updated.
You should consider installing offical chinese/indian rom, which is gonna be updated for sure.

A user can always update the shop rom with the latest official rom via recovery. The easiest way to do it.

I am not really sure if I am running a Shop ROM. Just bought the phone from Gearbest.
I just thought that the Indian Version is the international version with multilanguage. I have LeEco Store installed and 3-4 other apps. But it really seams to be a Shop ROM because of the missing update option.

Can you explain what to do?
Just download the latest Indian version than rename it to update.zip and put it in the root folder and after that Power + Vol + and thats it?
I just dont want to lose German language on the phone. It is for my mother so usability is the most important, you know.
Thank you guys in advance!

Guess you are right. But you won't get OTA updates, if you use webshop rom. I didn't get neither.

Very simple. Yes.
I have Deutsch in my latest official Chinese 20s.
So does it mean that I can flash/update eather Indian or Chinese ROM just over the shop ROM without losing any data and language?
Sounds too easy for me
Yes, its easy like that i upgraded from shop rom to 21S Chinese - and I was wondering that german is better supported in 21S Chinese then in the germanized shoprom version ... only bad thing was - i lost the google play store.

And to get back Google Play Store you have to download it in LeEco store or just install the Indian version instead of the Chinese, right?
... or use this one -> https://xiaomininja.com/2016/07/15/...l-google-play-services-on-miui-8-video-guide/
I installed the cookie version 92 2 works fine. After wipe wipe data, flash with twrp and is done. Try. The zip file is called
X820_TWRP_ADVANCED_V3.1.1_CUOCO92. ZIP
yes but i heard leeco engineering work on android 7
Heyyo, yeah that international EUI ROM is modified and won't get OTA hence the check for updates is missing.
For my x829 I couldn't upgrade to Indian or Chinese EUI directly via the recovery and update.zip. It would give an error message about file errors. Only way for me to flash other ROMs was to use TWRP via temp boot via fastboot and then flash other ROMs.
I ended up not liking even newer EUI versions so now I use custom ROMs as they have a better setup with the more like Stock Android experience with the quick settings in the notification drawer.
It's still hard to tell if LeEco will be able to follow through with Nougat for their phones due to all the financial issues they have... But meh, tbh I'm not worried given how darn good community ROMs are and how they don't have the odd quirks that EUI have.
Albeit, it would be nice if they at least put out kernel sources for Nougat (or I guess Android O which will be out sooner than later) which could improve community ROMs a bit

It was said by January. Still they didn't released an update :crying:
Last update i got was on 14th October 2016. When ever i send a mail asking about the next update they respond like we will inform in a week or two. But they never did. By the end of march they said that they are working on android 7 but it will take more time. They said expected release will be july last week. I mailed again now. No responses from them.
I like the EUI very much. I don't want to install some custom rom. But same time, this thing have lot of bugs and many futures need modification.
I am getting the LeTV LeEco Le Max 2 X829 US version soon. There are versions of TWRP/ROMs posted for the other LeTV LeEco Le Max 2 variants, so I am not 100% sure that they are compatible.
In particular for the x829 I would like:
-Link to working TWRP recovery
-Link to Proper SuperUser Zip
-AOKP based ROM (Lineage, CM...)
I found this TWRP link, but I do not know for 100% that is is compatible.
https://dl.twrp.me/x2/
Read the forum. All roms works on any max 2.

Every ROM from X820, X821, X822... work in X829 and same with the recoveries.
To get root you can flash latest SuperSU flashable zip or you can flash Magisk (with this you can run some apps that doesn't work with root).
Lineage and CM are now the same (Lineage) and they aren't based on AOKP (Android Open Kang Project), they are similar to AOSP (Android Open Source Project) but with some additions.
I hope this will help you, regards

Do you have the X829? What ROM do you have running? What version of TWRP? At the very least, is that the correct TWRP?
https://dl.twrp.me/x2/
A lot of the comments I read on the ROM threads was "should work with the X829". That's why I'm asking.
My biggest concern is bricking it, or even IMEI getting wiped. On my Elephone P8000, the stock rom has an internal IMEI writer tool. The X829 doesn't look to be as straight forward to restore IMEI. As long as I can full backup ROM/nvram, and safely store it somewhere I should be ok. Just trying to cover all my basis
Any rom will work. I have x829 and used this guide and links for twrp. Tried most of custom roms and none as as stable imo as the Indian official rom. I use nova launcher on every phone anyhow so always looks same anyhow. I get around 5 hours sot and play games quite a lot.
Finger sensor is a bit poor but if I use the fingerprint calibration it seems to be much better.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/protocol-backup-stock-rom-flash-stock-t3517151
I rooted 2 x829 4/64gb phones using 3.1.0 so your link is correct
For super su I used the latest version zip (2.79) download from their website http://www.supersu.com/download
For roms I ended up going back to stock us 16s because it's by far the most stable in my case atleast. Using xposed and some modules to get customizations.
I'll add that x829 folks shouldn't even bother trying other ROMS at the moment, if WiFi calling is important. I've tried a few of the most popular ones on my x820, and none of the other ROMs seem to work properly for this feature, even though it shows up as an option in some.
Root it, get rid of the LeBloat, put a different launcher on it and call it a day.

Randy, I want to follow your advise with my new x829. Not having any luck identifying how to root this phone staying on stock EUI with stock recovery. Do I need TWRP recovery for root only? I haven't touched the bootloader. Thanks much!

There's no point in staying with stock recovery. You'll never see an OTA update with the x829 ROM anyway.
Install TWRP and root with SU through that. If you ever change your mind down the road and want to install something else, at least you'll be ready for it.

Done. EUI isn't the end of the world, with a descent launcher it's not bad. I was able to flash xposed and got gravity box for better nav bar control (long press home to sleep + keep lit when screen is on) and xhangouts for dark/color themes.
Amazing phone for the $. Not just the internal specs, processor, RAM, fp sensor, gyro, etc, but a solid external build as well.

Heyyo, can you please elaborate a little more?
Model? X820 x821 x822 or x829?
EUI ROM version? 5.8.016s? 19s? Other?
My x829 came with that vendor modified le_x2_na 5.8.016s and it was garbage with freezing issues and weak performance.
Every other ROM worked better be it EUI ROM or custom ROM.

it's the x820 model, 5.8.01S stock rom. i have never installed a custom rom before and i'm interested in installing oreo 8.1 in hope i'd get the best out of the phone, but i don't know if i want to risk it since i'm new to this stuff and i don't want to break it. the quick charge also seems to not work and it kinda charge the same with quickcharge on/off , other than this the phone is fluid and works alright

5.8.01s? That's really darn old yeah... ok since yours is x820 it's easy to upgrade to the latest EUI ROM.
http://g3.letv.cn/259/29/16/scloud-...1S-5.9.028S.zip?b=123456&platid=5&splatid=500
It does have ads that LeEco put in it though... I'd recommend going into launcher settings and disabling the ads if they annoy you a lot.
Otherwise? 5.9.026s is pretty good too but doesn't have ads.
https://goo.gl/3ZjpLD
just rename to update.zip and place in the root of your storage.
Reboot to recovery (settings > system update > ... menu button > Reboot to recovery)
Update from file
Otherwise for custom ROMs? I'd highly recommend sticking to Nougat as Oreo is beta support on the Le Max 2.... for Nougat ROMs? XenonHD I'd say has the best performance. KuranKaname did a great job with optimizations.
SlimRoms is a mix of optimizations and battery life so that's another option.
Stability wise though? OmniROM 7.1 is fantastic for that and is the only official ROM for the Le Max 2 on nougat with SafetyNet certification.
My bench mark ON RR version 6.0 that is oreo 8.1
177274, on Antutu version 7

Hello everyone!
I put myself in a problem here, my mum wanted a new phone and I suggest led Lenovo Z5 as her best option.
I put my money into my alipocket and I was about to buy it when I noticed that there isn't any official international ver of it.
I wouldn't mind the Chinese room if it means I get updates, but I don't know if I can actually install Google play on it..I can't see any info on Zmui
Also if I bought the Chinese ver, will I be able to flash a official international stock rom on it and receive OTA update?
Or will the same idea work if I bought the rooted ver they offer?
about z5
i am a chinese and i bought a Z5 about 3 weeks ago.
The most attractive part of the phone is the 1080P LED screen after using a AMOLED for a long time (worried about my eyesight)
I've never used a ZUI before (i've MI 3 && OP3T). Before buying the phone, my friend tell me about the bad impact of ZUI to his Z2 (AnTuTu Tester remark is lower a lot than a aosp and some roms ) which means the optimization of ZUI may be bad.
After getting the phone, the ZUI annoy me ... Though the ZUI 3.9Ver is based on 8.1 with GAPPS in it, the settings is too poor and the gesture is not well enough. Although with a 6G size RAM, it killed app even you lock it (the utilization is low means most of ram is useless ....). I dislike the ZUI default launcher(ZUI launcher) and replace it with Pixel launcher.
About Root: the phone do not support root or you Warranty is go, but you still have way to root it
About OTA: the rom support OTA if it is not rooted
hmmm last i cannot find any rom like los to flash (that's really shame)
I am really satisfied with the screen ( it must be the best in screen in this price )
Hi
I just bought the phone and it will arrive next week.
I have been really attracted by the looks.
I think I can leave with ZUI.
But tell me how is the performance of the camera both in good but also low light conditions?
Hi i'm from Spain and i love the desing of this phone levono z5 but i want to know if it comes with ZUI i could change it to android, is this posible?

Hi, i am assuming you dont like ZUI and want to change to stock android,
Well the phone is still new to the market, i have not seen any developer working on a rom yet, as of now there are no other options then using the stock operating system.
FYI, i am using Zuk z2 pro with custom rom from mokeedev which is also stock android. I got my Lenovo Z5 last week, there is lot of chinese bloatware in there, so i havent switched yet, i am also waiting for a different android operating system. hope this helps.
I bought one from DX.com
You can switch the language to English, but there will be a few Chinese elements (eg. on the keyboard)
These can be easily fixed by installing a 3rd party keyboard, for example.
Mine didn't come with any Google apps but I was able to install the Google Play Store from this APK:

It supports project treble. Some users flashed the stock rom through that. But I think official engineers never try hard in bug fix.
Thanks everyone about the information! If only Lenovo used Stock android like Umidigi Z2! It would have been excellent to use
But is Lenovo z5 going to have a Android P update? If so then wouldn't that optime the phone in the future?
Or is it possible to wait for a working stock android rom for Lenovo z5 ?
Another thing, my mum loves the super bright screen on Lenovo and it's big, she says she wants a lot of her apps running in the background and she needs USB C
I don't trust Umidigi phones, Oppo A5 is over priced with no fingerprint sensor and low ram, vivo phones don't have USB C and xiaomi phones are just darn ugly.
is there any twrp in our lenovo z5?

Lenovo Z5 ROM problem
:crying:Good afternoon, I bought a lenovo z5 arrived yesterday, when I called it I noticed that there was no software of the ZUI, ie, it has a rom that is not for this phone, does not match the notifications with the notch, has navigation bar etc. nothing matches, what do I do? Does anyone know where I can download the appropriate ROM for it?
i bought it at geekbuying
I'm in the same exact situation as Paulacfmsimoes, bought the z5 from geekbuying and it came preinstalled with a butchered frankestein version of the stock rom. Its bootloader is unlocked as well. I'm desperately trying to find a way to install the normal stock rom version, so if anyone has an idea, please help!
Please HELP!!!
I Deleted some important system files on the phone and now it does not torn on.
i did managed to install the TWRP recovery so if one of you guys hes this phone and you can upload me a system backup with TWRP you will save my ass!!
i bought this phone to my girlfriends birthday and now its dead
pleaseee replay and help me
This would be the absolute perfect time for one of you guys to help us out. (both us idiots that bought the phone from geekbuying with that beaten down custom rom and cohavio as well). I anyone with ZUI 3.9 that has the chinese and english version of the rom could make a back-up, that would be awesome!

A moderator on the Xiaomi Forum just confirmed that you have a fake ROM. It seems that some resellers are flashing these fake global ROMs in order to sell them as Global.
Well, AFAIC i definitely would like to try this 'fake' ROM. Mine may be very real but also very much in chinese/english only. I wouldnt mind for myself, but my mother not so much. I'm pretty sure this is basically a reseller's modified CN ROM in order to sell as global with added languages.

I received my mi pad 4 with this 'fake' global rom.
I've been using it all day and it's pretty good. It's miui but with integrated Google play out of the box.
If it is just the CN version with Google play services pre-installed then I'll stick with it for now. I don't have the ability to check if there are nefarious modifications made to this rom, but I know I'm taking a risk on it. Also I'm pretty sure there will be no over the air updates for it which is a bummer.
If there was a xiaomi.eu rom available I would flash that straight away.
The official CN image: does this include English at least?
In my opinion, I don't use this unknow chinese mod rom because she maybe contain malware.
Just use official MIUI rom or custom rom made by a good dev like in XDA.
