hi guys,
i'm approching now to the world of mobile OS, and i don't understand something.
i hope someone can answer to my questions
in a computer i can install an OS , ubuntu, mac os, window, debian etc
in my mobile phone can i install just an OS without apps or something else (except for default apps)?
for example can i instal just Android 4.0.4 ??
if yes, where i can find it?
and if yes, wich default apps have Android 4.0.4?
I do not think it is possible. The OS comes with hardware drivers..
If possible then anybody will able to upgrade their OS in latest android JB.
I recently got the Geeksphome Keon Firefox OS developer preview phone. Although it is a good phone I'm sure it would be better if it could run android and Firefox OS is still in beta. Is there anyone who knows how to accomplish this? This is what I've worked out so far:
*firefox OS is based on the same kernel as android
*it uses ADB and android fastboot, so they are definitely similar
*thriugh eclipse sdk, one can install an app on ff os but it can't run.
So they definitely aren't too different. Also if you download a build for the Keon it uses the same kind if structure as an android ROM. And there's a .android secure folder in the SD card. So I don't think it should be too hard if anyone knows how to port/can port for me, that'd be great!
i had the same question seems that some spanish guys did that. They dual booted a Geeksphone Keon with Firefox OS and Android 4.0.4.

I was very surprised not to already see this thread considering all the recent changes to the Chromebooks/ChromeOS and I have to ask!!!
Does anybody know how to get Magisk working on a Chromebook? I have the Acer Chromebook R11 (CB5-132T) It flips into a tablet as well, 32 GB HD, 4 GB ram.. got it on sale for $150 at BestBuy last week ... already loaded Crouton, ADB / fastboot, etc .. I really want to be able to root this thing with Magisk, or atleast SuperSU.
Thank you guys!

hi guys good night
i am looking for a clean copy of remix os for pc. the last version was the only stable version that worked well with me .
i've tried the hacked version and it would crashed constantly and the start menu would never open . also , i did try the pheonix os and that also crashed alot .
can anyone assist me ?
Try this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/remix/remix-os/v3-0-203-remix-os-pc-project-rsc-t3459790
I recommend using the 32bit version, it has better compatibility.
Hi I just update dev version to 70 now I can see the new Linux settings after I activated crostini but terminal does not appear ...how to proceed to get it please? Thanks
Interesting, I thought Crostini would only be rolled out for CBs with Kernel 4.xx's - Acer CB R11 has Kernel 3.18
Sorry can't help, don't have this machine...

You'd be better off using crouton & chromebrew, until they get their act together with crostini - crouton is well finessed, integrated & stable., & does the same as crostini, plus you already have Android embedded if you want further functionality...
A favour: can you check if the webcam works from within Android in your Acer CB R11?
After thé last update ...linux apps finally are OK...
I am happy with crouton, better control than relying on Google closed code.
You did not answer my query if webcam works from within Android apps.

M'y acer chromebook R11 is now at end of life no more update from google ...what is the best choice ? Stay like that , switch to Linux , may be chrome.is flex ?
I have an Acer R11.
With the OS's own browser, I only look at reliable sites (forums, news sites).
Everything else has Chrome installed from the Play Store.
I tried Lacros, but the browser didn't update. I'll try again in a few months.
I want to use the R11 like this for a few more years.
Thanks for your experiences about lacros ...so this browser should replace chromium but if its no more update as you related...I don't change anything but the idea is good but I readed unstable..
Basically, the R11 is as good as new. I don't feel it is slow, the display is very good, the touch is perfect.
With Chrome installed from the Play Store, you can watch anything.
For even more security, you can install Proton VPN (free, unlimited).
So as long as it works I'm using R11!
I just install lacros today and all is working fine without loosing anything ....hope it will get update often now...so lacros replaced chrome browser

I think the update button should be here: Help/About
I couldn't see any update till I switched to lacros briwser...strange but maybe the cycle is longer...
Thanks, then I'll wait a few more weeks/months, maybe then it will be updated.
OK thanks but if its no more update I don't see the interest to have switch to lacros ...hope this project is not stopped....do you have the same.lacros version than me?
I don't want to turn it back on yet. When I checked it was something like 104 beta.
I also hope that the project continues.
I'm asking me if switching to chromeos flex would be better or not ...updating but no playstore....I tried chromeos flex under another windows PC and its very fluid.... Could somebody confirm that under chromeos flex Linux app are available?
