Vivax Point x45 - Persistent virus - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a Vivax Point x45 mobile phone and it somehow got infected with a very aggresive virus which I can't get rid of.
The phone is unusable since the phone keeps opening ads, spam and is constantly trying to install new apps.
What I noticed so far is that the two main viruses are Time Service and Firewall Service.
Once I connect to the internet those viruses install porn apps like 'hot video' and 'hot girls' and such and they keep opening it.
I have tried factory reset through mobile phone and through recovery mode (VOL- and Power button) but the viruses are there even after recovery mode.
I've read about Titanium backup and such methods of removing the virus, but I literally can't do anything on the phone since it won't let me open any app longer than 2 seconds. I can't root it, I can't install any other app myself and I can't access internet with it. I would reflash the firmware but I can't find it anywhere on the internet since it's a ****ty vivax model.
Help please.
Thanks.

Factory reset. Don't connect to WiFi. Download antivirus apk on your PC and drag it to your phone. Install the app. Check and clean the virus. Good luck. Must be an oldboot virus that installs itself every time you connect to WiFi. A custom ROM would also fix the issue. But like you said. Its a unknown brand.

The virus works even when not connected to the internet. So I do factory reset and turn on the phone, it's there.
I can't operate on it since it keeps spamming ads and opening apps. It's unusable in this state.

Its a system level virus. A factory reset won't help. It needs to have its system reinstalled. Problem is, the phone itself is an unknown make and brand and has no support on XDA. Its important to buy a phone which does so that when issue like this occurs. There a high probable chance that your phone can get fixed. I'm wondering if your phone has a safe mode?

Safe mode is infected too.
I just managed to root somehow through PC and installed busybox and root explorer and removed several files starting with a "." from system/xbin and system/app so there were no files starting with "." left.
There was another one in /bin folder named ".gap" but even after chattr -iaA it couldn't be removed.
Then I factory reset the phone but the **** installed itself all over again.
App names:
Time Service
Firewall Service
hot video
netflash (smtnh like that)
file names were
.gap
.gap.a
.gatgp.a (smthn like that)
The app is also constantly trying to instal com.android.provision and fake Viber and Whatsapp apps.

Do you have cameraupdate.apk and providerCertificate.apk if so remove these too and all the Files with the dots. I.e what you have suggested above. Then reboot to recovery. And wipe cache and reboot.

Seems like you have a monkey/time service virus which are very common

Titanium backup restore missing.

So I tired another Rom and I didn't like it so I went and tired another Rom and for some reason its not showing all of my apk's backed up. It show maybe like 25% of them. I checked the folder and everything is there but it won't show it the restore section. How do I fix this. Thanks ahead.

When you installed titanium, did you go into preferences and choose the correct backup folder? I always have to choose the one on my external sd card because by default titanium uses a folder on my internal card. Just a thought.

Theres also a 'verify backups' in batch mode, at the very top.

+1
So I have the folder in the correct location. I tired a new Rom and redid my back ups on that Rom. Then I didn't like that Rom so I changed it and when I went to go try to restore my apps it's not showing up in the restore section. The apk's are there. As you can see at the very top in the verify sections in the photos I posted. Did anyone have this problem? I'm not sure how to fix this.

Write to the dev, anytime I have had an issue he's written back with help very quickly. I'm not sure how to help.

Have you tried the 'problems' button within the app? There is a lot of stuff in there that might help.

Thanks for ur help. I've tried everything nothing seems to fix it. I'm bummed out.

Well, I wouldn't definitely write to the dev then. I think this same thing happened to me a couple years ago, if I remember right I basically had to start over. Have you tried installing the apps from the market and then restoring its data? Or maybe restoring one at a time?

I've had that happen to me, I think I fixed it by messing with filter settings.

Does it say filter settings or is it called something else? I'm not finding it.

Probably you missed checking the "Normal apps (apk)" option
In order for the backup to properly be restored after OS upgrade/update, you would need to have the apk files. The apk files are backed up by Titanium Backup as apk.gz files ONLY if the Menu -> Preferences -> Normal apps (apk) is checked before you back up the apps. Otherwise, it would only backup the app properties and data and not the apk files.
So this is how it works:
Scenario 1: Menu -> Preferences -> Normal apps (apk) is checked
With Titanium Backup, you can restore the APP + DATA.
Scenario 2: Menu -> Preferences -> Normal apps (apk) is unchecked
With Titanium Backup, you can restore only the DATA, but you can do so only after you install the app either from playstore or manually (in case if you have the .apk file).
Hope this helps.

Google play store issue

Hello,
Well my friend has a Galaxy S3 GT-I9300(stock non-rooted rom). Now the problem is, since a while every time she opens Google Play it closes again without giving any warning or something. I have already tried deleting the data /cache of the app. Tried to install it again through an apk file of version 4.1.6. Also tried to reset app preferences in application manager. All with no results, the only solution I could think of now is to try a factory reset. She rather doesn't do that so does anyone here maybe have a solution for this problem?
Thanks in advance

Tell her to take it to a local Samsung support store. Or just reset it completely, it only takes about 10 minutes right?
True about the reset she just doesn't want to reinstall all her apps again. I'll just tell her to go to a support store then. Thanks for the response

Might help if you delete the account from settings, then delete playstore data and launch it and type account info again.
Don't factory reset!
I think I know this
Just try this : go to settings and app manager..and the all apps tab in that..
Scroll to the bottom...you'll see 1 thing is disabled.. Don't remember the exact name(sorry) .. But something related to installer..
Click on it and enable It
It should work.
Try it..

Thanks for your help!
I think I did everything right... it took a min. I am not very phone or computer savvy. I looked through disk digger but none of my vacation pics were there. So sad! Can I try anything else? I have another question..now when I connect my phone to my pc, it is not showing it is even connected? Do I need to do something? Thanks again!!
Meanwhile, while you are doing this, try to store anything to phone. If anything you write now overwrites the disk where earlier data was stored, it won't be recovered back.

Google Play store snooping through the phone

So yesterday I had a notification on my phone that said "Towelroot - remove this program immediately"
Since this program was downloaded and installed without the knowledge of the Google Play store, how does it know that my phone has the program in it. And it's not really an active program. It's a use it once type program, to my understanding.
So, does this mean that Google is snooping though my phone looking at everything I have installed and reporting it back to the mothership? Where else is it snooping?
And mostly, how can I prevent this.
If your phone is already rooted, why do you still have towel root there...you can uninstall it..it won't affect root status

at some point...looks like you accepted the prompt to allow Google to verify apps for harmful behaviour. ..that's why it's giving you that warning

Ahhhhhh..... Just a few days ago I think I put a check in the box that said verify apps.

What's causing pop adds on my phone?

I deleted some apps that I recently installed but I'm still seeing adds on my phone. It's not just in browsers but in places like gallery when I'm viewing my photos. The weird thing is I started to notice this when I installed adaway. But I uninstalled this and other apps but it didn't help. It takes up the whole screen and i have to click no thanks to install whatever its saying to install. Any way to find out what's causing this?

Run an anti malware program. These ads could be part of an app you installed. Even if you in installed them the ads stay embedded. I use Malwarebytes
