Just got a new phone and rooted it. Then later was prompted that there was a firmware update for the phone. After, installing it, it gave a quick message saying something like the update failed. Then it booted into Android recovery system. Now whatever I do, I can't get out of this tab. I tried the "wipe out/factory reset" option as well but when I restarted the phone it still booted into the Android recovery tab. Anyone got a solution for this? :crying:
Try posting and searching in XDA section for your phone model .

First of all, I would like to say hello, since I'm new on this forum!
So, to begin with, my problem is the following: I'm trying to install the CyanogenMod on my vodafone 858 smart. I followed the instructions on this forum:
-rooted my phone
-installed ROM Manager + Clockwork recovery
-in ROM Manager I selected Install ROM from SD card -> checked to make a backup, to wipe data and cache and to wipe dalvik cache
-phone rebooted into recovery mode -> could't see anything but the small hourglass
-waited for more then an hour, nothing changed, hourglass was still there
-took out battery, reinserted it, started phone and everything worked properly, but I still have 2.2 version of Android
-I tried to install CyanogenMod again, this time switching off my phone, and rebooting into recovery mode manually
-after rebooting into recovery mode, a message appeared, saying it is unpacking 1/2 (the process bar not moving anything not even after an hour) and below it states that the 'update has failed'
Could anyone please help me with this issue, I'd really like to upgrade my phone, but I can't seem to manage.
ps.: sorry if this has been asked, I couldn't find a similar thread.
Thank you!
HELP! My phone stuck on boot screen (or boot loop) can someone upload their backup of vodafone 858 phone (or system.img) file???
PLZ HELP My phone dont work...
[Q] Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies..."
Originally my phone stopped working hours ago, applications were forced closed and i decided to force-shutdown my s2. Then i realised i could only enter recovery & download mode. I remembered setting my clock faster for -in game tokens per day- and i thought that was the problem. BUT i couldn't boot my phone. Saw videos on clockwork MOD and i tried with OBIN, but unexpectedly, it failed. As it failed, i couldn't do anything else so i removed USB and tried REBOOTING my phone. However, "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again" came up. I can't enter recovery mode now but only download mode. I've installed Kies on my computer but to no avail. Kies gave me error when i attempted to restore the mods settings using "Firmware upgrade and initialisation" and error was in korean so i did not understand. People stated that there are other ways using stock kernel but i can't obtain my stock kernel of my device as i couldn't even boot it up, let alone going into my phone's setting to check the stock kernel.
Any help? It seemed that i should've done a recovery instead of toying with OBIN and resulting in this. ANY WAYS TO UNDO THE FAILED OBIN MOD? Please, i would rather lose all my data without backup than to never ever start my phone again. Please reply ASAP! I want to restore EVERYTHING, INCLUDING THE FAILED OBIN AND MY MESSING OF THE TIME IN MY PHONE. It doesn't matter if i have to wipe out all my data.
Problem: I think I deleted my OS.
Here's what happened, i rooted my Samsung Note 10.1 using the clockwork mode with the super SU, then it went fine, I installed apps I got on net, then (after 4 months) i got a glitch wherein I cant copy/paste words, so I decided to reset to factory setting, then done. I thought of other way to root my tablet. I went to setting where it says Encrypt device, I started encrypting then interrupted it, when it rebooted it says that encryption interruped and I need to rest to factory setting then try to encrypt again, and asks to press the reset device, and I did. What happened is it keeps going back to encryption failure message and I keep on pressing reset device till it will only turn on with the SAMSUNG NOTE 10.1 Logo (the startup logo), then I tried installing clockwork mode again, and select wipe factory reset, and wipe cache partition and almsot all wiping option, so obviously i wiped my OS. I tried installing the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich following this guide on youtube Guide - How To_ Install Official Android Ice-cream Sandwich (cant post the link). When I followed it all it always failed in the end, and on my tablet it says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again", and I cant connect to Kies and PC to do the firmware emergency recovery. Now I'm stuck in there and kind of thinks that I'm lost and totally broke my tablet. But still I can be in download mode.
Any brilliant answers guys. Thanks much in advance.
Back Up
Is a fast connection needed while installing the OS via Odin since it says Firmware Update Started?
And can anyone send me a links to download a functioning Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich OS, please.
Hello! I had an older Hellybean ROM installed (the latest that wasn't an Android 4.3 build) I was leaving it on the counter to charge. When I picked it back up, it was turned off. I turned it back on and it went to recovery mode. Restarted it and it still went to recovery. Over and over again, I tried. So, I tried to do a factory reset but, nothing happened. Cache wipe worked fine, though. Then, I went to "mounts and storage" to wipe there. It said it couldn't mount /data or/datadata or anything. Download mode worked fine so, I used Odin to flash to stock. Now, I just get the Vibrant startup screen before the phone turns off by itself. I can get to download mode but, I can't get into recovery. Please help. I hope the Vibrant isn't too out of date for help. Thanks so much!
The situation is interesting. One can go to dig what was happening, but it will be easier to return it via Odin3 to "shop" state, and then put Android 4.3 or whatever you want there. I can write a personal message link (in Russian, but very clear), where you jump all the files and restore the phone.
If anything, send me a private message.
Hi everyone!
Im using a Hisense U-980 with android 4.2.1. When i installed the latest system update i immediately had issues with my certificates and the phone was unable to read the SD card anymore, so i tried to do a system recovery. When i booted the phone into recovery mode and selected the 'recovery' option it just showed a pic of an android laying down with a red X on the chest with the words 'NO COMMAND' waited about 2 min later and it booted into normal mode again. I have no idea what this update did or whether its even a real update or not but it screwed up a lot of things and there seems to be no way to get back the previous andorid version. Any tips or suggestions on what i can do to get system recovery working again or am i screwed?
Thanks!
