Flashmode would disconnect after a minute. Is it safe to flash? - Sony Xperia XA Ultra Questions & Answers

Last XA Ultra I had -- entered flash mode, then gave it the newest firmware to install. It disconnected halfway trough. Resulting in a hard brick. Got a new XA Ultra. How do I proceed so this doesn't happen again?
I do not recall if I first prepared the files for flashing and then plugged the phone, or plugged the phone then began flashing. Maybe that was the case?

Nevermind that, just went straight installing boot and recovery after BL unlock. Root succesful, no bricks, didn't need to flash any tfts.

To de safe plug the phone in flashmode only when asked. XA have an auto disconnect timeout when in flashmode. And don't forget to exclude all "ta" partitions in Flashtool.

Please Help, tried to Flash phone, Error phone Cannot Reboot.

Hey Guys, I hope you are having a good day. Mine is not a good one.
I wanted my experia st15i phone to be back on stock again so I can root it. I am running a .62 firmware. I have read on doomlords thread that .62 firmware cannot be rooted, so I decided to flash it back to the stock phone .368.
I followed all the step on the flashing on the phone.
-downloaded the flashtool for experia latest version. Followed the steps
- installed the necessary drivers -adb, flashtool drivers.
- then I followed the steps to flash the phone
This error came up (see Attachment) after that I haven't been able to turn on my phone since then. Even If I tried again, still comes up the same error.
BIG PROBLEM! My phone now cannot be turned on, it keeps getting back to flash mode whenever I connect it to the computer.
Please help!
I am sorry but I only follow steps throughtout the flashing method, I don't know if I had to unlock my bootloader before I flash it, or root it.
Please help, I am currently researching now If I can turn back my phone again.
flash to stock rom.. .42 firmware is good if you want to keep root..i saw the image from that are you flashing any kernel..?beacause you are in fastboot mode..but to flash ftf file you have to be in flashmode
Error with the flashtool, phone stop working
No, I am not flashing any kernels. I was in flash mode. I was never in fastboot mode.
Ok thanks for the heads up, I'll use .42 instead.
But still currently having this problem. I can't do anything because I can't turn on the phone. If I turn it on, the logo doesn't come up and the blinking light is on GREEN, so that means I am still in flashmode (even without the connection to the computer). If I connect the phone when the flashtool is there, its says on the log that it's on flashmode.
The Big Problem is, How can I turn it on back to normal mode. releasing the flash mode. If that really is the problem, when the error came up.
Second Question. Do you have to unlock the bootloader to perform the root or flashtool. I already have installed the adb drivers.
first there is no need of unlock bootloader to flash ftf file..just download ftf file then put in firmware folder..then open flashtool... click on flash and then click on flashmod then just select your ftf file and press ok..switch off your mobile..then press volume down button and coonect your mobile to pc using usb cable..flashtool will flash that firmware...
Thanks...
But, I have already followed all those steps you said. then that error comes up (refer to the thumbnail above). After that I haven't been able to turn on the phone.
When I try to turn on the phone, the logo screen won't show and the light that blinks above the phone is green. Meaning its kinda stuck on flashmode.
I am so scared right now, if I can't fix it.

[Q] Bricked stuck sony logo and only fastboot, no flashmode

trying to wipe cache and userdata, after restart i get only on stuck sony logo.
i cant get on flashmode to install a clean ftf with flashtool.
Only can get into fastboot.
now i could get unlocked bootloader and can flash partitions.
I tryed to extract a stock FTF, and got all .sin files. but when i try to flash kernel it says that is not a boot image.
with the system.sin i dont have problem flashing it. but cant flash its kernel.
I downloaded another custom boot.img from the forum and got to flash them but no one works with my stock system.sin and continues on stuck sony logo.
All this is done with fastboot.
I tryed to erase partitions cache, userdata and recovery. Also installed some custom recoverys from the forum and still on sony logo.
The far i got is with some boot.img to connect to pc, but never in flashmode because it alwais says NO debugging mode.
Any idea??
Could i generate a boot.img throw the kernel.sin from the stock firmware?? i tryed but never works, extracting it with flashtool, renaming it ...
Or could i generate a system.sin from a custom rom to install the boot.img from it and his data converte to .sin??
Hey there,
I am exactly in the same situation... any help ?
Can't find any kernel.sin which would be seen as a good boot image...
Thx

Is your bootloader unlocked? If yes, the procedure to revive it is quite simple. I have bricked my phone about a hundred times this past three weeks since I got it. But it was fairly easy to revive it since my bootloader was unlocked right at the start.

Great. I would like to ask you something. How do you connect the test point to GND? Do we need to solder it to the shielding using the paper clip?

I solded a small tire of pewter on one of the points and the other point holtind it, but it is not necesary to sold anyone. You just have to have the two points connected while connecting the usb cable (about 2 or 3 seconds)

Soft bricked F3211 (connot recover using flashtool)

So, I wanted to root my phone and unlock my bootloader. After unlocking bootloader I checked phone and everything was ok. I flashed twrp and boot.img then flashed supersu via twrp. After that, phone waited on sony logo like 20minutes so I turned it off and wiped. After doing that it was still on the xperia logo. I flashed kernel again and it started rebooting after sony logo. Now, I can use fastboot and flashmode. But flashtool gives me errors. First it said I need to enable usb debugging and now it says "Processing of loader.sin finished with errors.". I tried on another computer but I still get the same error. I can lock the bootloader btw. Should I try and try recovering via xperia companion?
I locked the bootloader and restored using pc companion. Everything is fine again. Never gonna try rooting this device again.
Hey there, could you please tell me how you relocked your Xperia XA Ultra?
Could really need some advise with putting back my password. Would you mind explaining how you did it?

M4 (E2303) stuck at Sony Logo - bootloader is not unlockable - Have NO recovery

Hi - have been searching these forums for days now but cant find a solution.
I am OK at flashing etc but am stuck now. Phone is stuck at Sony logo and won't go any further.
Phone is an Xperia M4 (E2303) and the bootloader is locked - have tried unlocking it but get 'Failed - command not allowed' so i'm guessing it is not unlockable!
I can't get into recovery (nothing happens when i try) and cant get into FlashMode either. I plug usb into phone while holding the volume down key. I CAN get into Fastboot mode which seems to work fine and is recognized ok by PC - drivers all installed ok.
Is there a way of flashing an FTF using Fastboot rather than Flashmode? or even installing any recovery. I have 32 and 64-bit Flashtool installed, i have FTF files and i have EMMA.
Can anyone help please? I would be very grateful - many thanks - ian
With bootloader locker you won't be able to flash anything. I had the same problem.
Desperately, my friend thought it was a good idea to put the phone on the refrigerator for a while.
Surprisingly, in the next day, I turned it on and the cold phone booted normaly and then I was able to set OEM unlock authorization on developer settings and unlocked the bootloader with sony unlock key.
Then I tried to flash a twrp, but I'm stuck back on boot loop again, and fridge didn't help this time.
Power OFF phone, then hold together for at least 30 sec in this order "volume down" + "volume up" + "power button". Then release 3 buttons and try to power on phone with power button. This procedure will revert your phone back to default settings.

Read this tread. It worked for me! Good luck!
Hi there,
Same problem as OP here.
I am trying to revive my wife ex-phone, model 2303 which has been forgotten for two years at least.
Stock rom
No root
Bootloader locked
Stuck at Sony Logo when starting up the phone.
Can boot in FastBoot (blue light) and is detected by PC
Can boot in FlashMode (green light) but PC doesn't detect anything. Nothing appears in Peripherals.
Any advices ?
What can be done in FastBoot mode with a locked bootloader ?

Also Xperia companion will install all needed drivers and could also recover device.

Thank your for your advices.
But in Flashmode the phone does not even appear in computer peripherals manager.
In FastBoot, Sony Emma does not detect phone neither.

Have you tried using an older version of flashtool ?
Hi, sorry for the late reply.
Which version of flashtool would you recommend ?
Would it change anything as the phone is not detected in device manager anyway ?

Xperia 1 Bootloop

Xperia 1 goes on boot loop after flashing the ROM.
What happened.
>Flashed Xperia 1 using new flasher.
>Device started and while setup went on boot loop with a message"Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and will not boot. Your device will be powered off in 5 seconds."
I tried to repair using Xperia Companion but it won't stay to the Flashmode. It goes on loop with the message.
Used original cable and things.
But the device goes to fastboot mode if I press volume up during plugging.
Flashtool and new flasher cannot since the device won't go to flashmode while volume down and plugging.
What can I do further? Please help.
Does the phone turn on again after it automatically turns off?
What region did you flash btw?
It turns on and off automatically in two of the cases.
1. Connected to the PC.
2. Connected to the charger.
But stays in Fastboot mode connected to PC.
I was getting bootlops after flashing rom (locked bootloader, wanted to change region), using both newflasher and flashtool. In my case the problem was i had to wipe/format reset when flashing with flashtool, otherwise got a bootloop.
Once phone is booting, force a shutdown with volume + and power at the same time, then hold volume - and connect to pc, then use flashtool.

Yes, I tried that way but the problem is it won't stay in Flashmode. It shows that warning and goes to bootloop.
I still can see the light turns green while doing so but cannot hold.
Same with me, recover using pc companion and use good cable..
The problem i have because using bad cable

My phone doesn't stay in flashmode.
It only stay without loop and message in Fastboot mode.
Else would have flashed already!!
Yes my phone always said my phone not trusted..
I tried using newflashe always failed.
But after chae the cable and recovery from pc companion now its work
I agree, it might be PC problem (drivers) or cable definitelly. Try diferent cable and diferent pc, go to someone with PC and try with his cable

Thank you but the thing doesn't work.
I tried on Windows 7 PC ;
Installed Xperia Companion and Xperia one driver and yet again it booted into fastbootmode but not flashmode.
I used USB C-C cable, and then another sony phone cable but it didn't work.
I even tried a short cable of a battery bank.
Thats strange. Can you write in details what you have flashed and what you have skipped? Did you done something with your trim area?
Hi @munjeni
I unluckily flashed new device J8110. It was a new firmware for device named Sphinx or something similar which isn't released yet.
It was to be j9110 actually. I then flashed the firmware through new flasher. I flashed everything. Then device booted and during setup steps it rebooted. Then I knew the device was different.
I tried flashing J 9110 but then the device started showing the mesaage.
Why don't you reflash trought fastboot? Boot an recovery image with fastboot:
fastboot boot recovery.img
you will need to unlock bootloader to be able to do that. Trought recovery and adb to recovery you can do many things e.g. flash an custom rom... etc, just for idea.
I have thought of it but loosing drm keys was reason.

Doesn't matter anyway as you need access to the phone to toggle OEM unlock before unlocking bootloader
So..
What should I be doing?

But do you have choice? Did you tried?
fastboot erase userdata
Usedata sometimes cause boot loop and message on screen about corruption. Another thing which I curently thinking about, is your battery charged? Maybe empty battery don't allow you to get into flash mode.

I'm not sure. It was more than 50% when I did everything.
Not sure now.
Will it charge in fastboot mode?
I don't own device to be able to tell you. Seems you are not only one who have problem with flashmode, here https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/xperia-z3v-general/bricked-sony-z3v-access-fastboot-t3510214 . Did you tried to erase userdata trought fastboot? I'm believing you will need to unlock bootloader first because you have no choice with locked bootloader because everything you try going to give you "command not allowed". Unlock bootloader, install an recovery, trought recovery you can reflash broken things, e.g. reguest from somebody with same device to give you raw partitions dump (excluding trim area, system, data, cache) and use DD command to reflash it on your phone, remember do not touch trim area, its on first partition! Good luck!

That link is 3 years old....
Without access to the phone there will be no access to the OEM unlock. Without that I don't think the bootloader can be unlocked.
It's hard to properly brick a sony phone with flashmode. With previous ones a different PC with different cables etc has worked
