If you have stock recovery and on rooted or non rooted stock rom, you will be able to update to Lollipop.

most probably u need the stock package as the OTA will check each and every file and will patch them so an unmodified stock is needed...
Hey Guys!!
I have a Motorola Moto E (XT1022) device which I have rooted and have xposed framework installed. Since the Lollipop update is just around the corner, I was wondering what would the steps be to be able to download it and update the device. This may be a problem for many other users too. So please tell how to do this and what all do we have to do (like unroot, flashing etc.).
THANK YOU!!!

You can go back to stock and locked bootloader and wait to OTA, or you can stay with your current rom and wait untill someone uploads a flasheable zip of 5.0
U need to reflash stock in order to update ur phone... U can find reflashing guidelines in development thread... Happy Flashing ?

So I have to uninstall the xposed framework, then full unroot via SuperSu and then flash stock firmware?
from what i've heard are ... no root, no edited apks, no disabled apks, full stock without removing anything was installed first
i think better flash stock firmware first beside uninstalling any apks which can edit your system, to prevent any leftover from those apk

you just have to revert back to your stock rom..nothing more i guess..whn the ota arrives it will automatically break your root..so just try to get back to your stock rom asap..those who are expcting soaks to arrive..lyk me al d bst
The thing is after we update it to lollipop. the xposed framework wont work in Lollipop cause the runtime were using is ART. and root may still be in test.
To take OTA Update
Restore unrooted stock rom backup(if you have) or Go to stock rom, uninstall Xposed framework and it's modules, uninstall su app(may be not necessary)
Then flash stock recovery and take ota update. That's how I updated from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4.
Don't flash the stock rom!!

Hey harsh I went through same problem when moto e got updated to 4.4.4. I had rooted 4.4.3 stock rom on my phone on which I removed all the bloatwares. I decided to reflash stock rom on it... And when I did it I got OTA but it refused to install because the bootloader won't lock again. Then I waited for somebody to upload 4.4.4 stock rom on XDA (which usually come after a week or so after OTA) and I flashed that rom. And It went Smoothly... So just wait for people to upload Lollipop ? roms!! Good luck
Have anyone know when will soak test come out ??

have patience my boy:angel:....the wait is about end very soon, and i mean it //
You need to revert to stock recovery and ROM. It is not essential for you to use the "oem lock" command to relock your bootloader as it will enable you to obtain root after the update. Cheers
Don't bother with re flashing your ROM and backup and restore just wait for a while you will sure get an flashable lollipop right after its on air...

Hey guys, i am on the stock rom. I just unlocked the bootloader , rooted the phone. What steps exactly do i need to follow to get the ota update ? As far as i know, i need to be on the stock recovery. How do i know which recovery i am on ? I have the stock recovery image. I guess, i dont need to flash the stock rom again as i didn't flash any custom rom. I need to unroot, and then flash stock recovery to get the ota, right ?? Do i need to lock the bootloader ? Please give me a detailed answer, i have been looking for an answer for so long but haven't found one.
Thanks. Appreciate any help

U said u have simply rooted yr cell, so u havent flashed any custom recovery. So u are having stock recovery.
Now simply unroot yr device and wait for ota.
It doesn't matter if yr bootloader is locked or unlocked, its fine even if u have unlocked bootloader.

with a deodexed rom it makes it much easier for removing of apps for instance i was able to get rid of nearly all the htc apps, twitter and facebook... when i originally tried to do it with rom toolbox before it would only uninstall the updates and still leave the original app... also with this it should conceivably be easier to start porting roms to our phone...

I dont know truth be told.. there are some differences between the at&t model and the eu model... so i wouldn't advise trying it but.. i do know that some people who have the eu model have flash the at&t rom successfully... as always I can't take any responsibility for any problems occur from flashing it..

#2, can just flash Jasmine directly. I haven't read SkyDragon's OP, so whatever it says, I haven't flashed SkyDragon but it's probably set up the same way as Jasmine.
great thanks! what's the best way to keep my apps?
LG stock ROMs for our phone have an LG Backup service in Settings / Backup & Reset. It works great and is even faster than Titanium Backup. When I run stock, I don't even use Titanium Backup any more but TB is still a lifesaver for non-stock.

Check this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/general/backup-lollipop-5-1-soak-test-t3144162
It's really simple, and as you already have TWRP, you don't need anything extra. But still, make a backup of your current rom.
