Need help reverting to stock. - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Hi, I was trying to revert back to the stock AT&T 6.0 rom using the RUU. I have "Android Revolution HD 53.1" currently installed which is Android 6.0 and Sense 7.0. It is unlocked and S-on, so I re-locked the phone using the fastboot method. After that the fastboot screen had "***RE-LOCKED*** and ***SECURITY WARNING***" on it. The phone would not reboot normally anymore, it would only go to the fastboot/hboot screen. I tried using the RUU anyway, and while it would detect the phone during the setup stages, as soon as it started the update and the phone switched to the htc screen, it would stop and give "error 171 - lost communication with the device."
So I've unlocked it again and it's working fine again. How can I revert it to the stock rom without making it S-off? Thanks!
Oh and if it matters, on the fastboot/hboot screen, it does show an OS version. It just has "OS-"
Edit: Looked at my previous posts as it's been a while since I've came here. Saw that I made a post last year with a similar problem and that switching USB ports on my computer fixed it. Well, switching USB ports fixed this problem too.

FYI, this is normal and expected. Relocking the bootloader renders the phone unable to boot, as it expects RUU to be run immediately thereafter.

HTC Amaze Soft Brick: Wind Mobile

Hi guys,
I had Speed Rom 8.0 installed and wanted to bring it back to OTA Wind ICS Ruu. I downloaded:
•RUU_Ruby_Globalive_WWE_1.46.1500.3_Radio_1.10.550L .01v2DC_30.69.550L.10_release_229312_signed.exe
I read that I had to lock the bootloader to run the RUU exe but it failed giving me error [140] Incorrect bootloader!
Afterwards I tried other RUU (tmobile, telus) and nothing has worked so far. However I must have messed up along the way and now I am in a boot loop!
I can still get into fastboot/bootloader. Currently I have the bootloader unlocked again. I'm S-ON

You need to lock your boot loader, a ruu won't flash without it locked.

Locking it is no problem, however after the phones goes into a boot loop and I can only access fastboot/bootloader.
My problem is that I'm not sure which Wind Mobile RUU I need to use. Everyone I tried gives me the "wrong bootloader" version error.
Issue is that SpeedRom 8.0 is Tmobile Based and not Wind based.
Do I have execute "Mainver Error Fix" prior to running flashing the RUU?

You have the same issue as I did; installing a T-mobile ROM will generally screw up the bootloader and other system level software. By doing that when you try to go to stock it will complain about not being able to update.
The solution is to get S-off and then force updates. Once you have S-off then the RUU exe will force the install and everything will be OK.

[Q] Issue with unlocking bootloader after firmware update.

Hey everyone, I'm having an issue unlocking my bootloader after updating the firmware.
When preparing to install the newest version of Android Revolution HD I thought it'd be a good time to update my firmware before switching to the KitKat based ROM. I used the firmware and instructions from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823
All went well until I tried to unlock the bootloader. I can complete all the steps through sending the Unlock_code.bin to the phone, which is successfully sent via fastboot, but I never get the notice on the phone to unlock. Nothing happens.
I believe my best course of action is to flash an RUU but I can't find any that are 4.06.1540.2 or higher at the moment and with S-ON and a locked bootloader, I can't load anything earlier.
If anyone has any insights I'd be most gracious, I'm currently without a phone and have to lug around a Galaxy Tab 3 for mobile connectivity.

More info
I'll also note that I've tried two different computers, three different cables, and I've probably tried at least 20 different Unlock_code.bins.
I'm really at a loss here, I can flash both 4.06.1540.2 and 4.06.1540.3 to the device from Mike's firmware link; the device has no problems communicating via fastboot. It's just not asking me if I want to unlock after a successful code transfer.

HTC One M8 issue

Hello all,
So here's why I'm posting:
I'm having an issue with my M8 phone. The phone was working great until I tried to install a new third-party TWRP. I don't know if it was miscommunication or what, but in the process of installing it (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ocvavpttfo...ersion_Fix.img), the phone started having issues.
The initial issue was that the phone would get stuck during boot up. The phone was at the current 2.22 build # but in order to make it at least usable again, I flashed an RUU (1.57 build #) and that seemed to fix everything. But then when I went back from stock recovery to my original TWRP, and flashed a recent backup, the phone froze again during boot up. This process worked many times and as recently as yesterday, but now since trying to install that third-party TWRP, it doesn't. I've tried various things but nothing is working. I know that since I can still reach HBOOT and TWRP that there is hope, but I'm at my wits end as to what to do.
I should also mention that I was using the ViperOne M8 ROM (2.1.0). My phone is unlocked/rooted & S-OFF. There were no issues with it again until I tried to install that new TWRP.
I really love my phone, and hope someone on here can help me. After re-RUUing my phone, I'm going to leave it at 1.57 build # and stock recovery (1.12 #) (and USB Debugging on) until I hear from someone. Basically, I just want my phone to be normal again so I can upgrade back to build # 2.22, flash my custom TWRP recovery, and then flash my most recent backup which included the most recent ViperOne M8 update.

[Q] bricked phone after trying to go back to stock

Okay, so I seriously messed up my phone hardcore.
CURRENTLY: My phone would turn on to a htc logo screen. If I turn the screen off then on again, the stock version lock screen would show up. But if I unlock the screen, the white htc boot logo would show up.
- I flashed a rom through adb sideload (Guru_Reset_M7_4.19.401.11-TeHashX.zip)
- still showing that htc logo screen when unlocked
I went from using a Lollipop 5.0 unofficial build, somehow my s-off became s-on, without realizing I flashed some other roms, which got my phone not being able to detect my sim card...
Somehow I was able to adb sideload a cm11 rom and get it working again, but my sim couldn't be detected... SO I decided to be stupid and go back to stock to see if anything changed.
But I messed up badly, I messed around with almost everything.
Firmware, adb sideloading, hboot, ruu, to try to go back to stock.
Now I'm just stuck I have no idea what to do.
I'm only able to access bootloader and (twrp) recovery.
I just want to go back to stock. OR just be able to work my phone again.

I messed up installing a ROM and now I need help

Hello everyone,
I have a rooted, unlocked, s-on htc m8 with TWRP recovery, which I seem to have messed up pretty badly.
I was trying to follow a guide to convert my phone to GPe. Being a complete noob I stupidly overlooked the step:
"Connect your HTC One to your computer using a USB cable and copy the ROM file to your phone’s SD card root folder."
Actually I don't even know which file that would be since the zip-file I downloaded had a boot.img file but nothing with a .rom extension. Anyway I missed this step and flashed the boot.img file to my phone using fastboot
"Fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot"
The phone got stuck in a boot loop hanging at the HTC splash. I managed to get to recovery and, after reading xda-university.com/as-a-user/how-to-recover-from-a-bootloop page I did a factory reset wiping the data cache and dalvik. Now if I try to boot it regularly it doesn't even get to the splash I just get a black screen. I can still get into the bootloader by holding power + vol up and then vol down once it reboots.
I could really use some help on this, I'm way out of my depth and the phone was a present from my gf . All I want now is to get the thing back to being a working phone.
Thanks in advance,

So you have access to fastboot? Good, run this command "fastboot getvar all", remove the serial number and imei, and post the results. Good news? Running the proper RUU will fix this and only take about 15 minutes.

Is it just a question of downloading the stock RUU (presumably from htc) and running it while connected via fastboot USB.

Hey, just download and run this from a PC... It'll update your AT&T device (I'm assuming) to Marshmallow Unlocked/Dev Ed http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8/news/
Edit: BTW, make sure the phone is connected to the PC in fastboot mode
That worked perfectly!
Thanks so much for getting me out of trouble, and as a bonus updated to Marshmallow.
