Hi all,
just bought G5, mainly for it's cam. What I would like to know, is there any way, modded, rooted (...) to get more options for video recording (like exposure or ISO) ? Or, when shooting timelapse, a way to setup image exposure, that would be amazing.
I know there's a way to get 60 fps in 1080, but can't find anything on this topic. Any suggestion appreciated!
Thanks

No manual control for video (yet?).
Regarding 60fps, I created a mod for rooted G5 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/themes/root-60fps-1080p-video-recording-photo-t3439025
If you are not rooted, you need to look for the V10 ported camera.

Thank you for the answer. Do you think hardware is that good, that maybe we'll see mod's one day?

My hobby is photography and I like doing panorama photos by stitching 5+ normal photos to one panorama. Without manual shutter speed or exposure lock on the camera, I can't do that...
My question is - Is there a way for this on Samsung Galaxy S2?
Sorry but photography on a smartphone camera? Really?
There is a panorama shooting mode in the camera app...

Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
AFAIK there is no option for manual shutter control. And for panorama, it's there in the camera settings.

Sorry if I'm being a "****", but I agree with him. Phones are not for this. If your hobby is really photography, you don't do it with a phone, unless you're a hipster, or you can't afford a good camera. Yes, when you need a quick pic, it's okay, but that's not the real thing :/
Also, ICS should have nice panorama feature, let's just wait for it.
Hello again
I have DSLR, but I'm not that much into photography to bring it everywhere with me...
Here is some samples with my old phones (first from Sony Ericsson K770 3,2MP, others from Samsung Omnia 5MP)
I try the panorama on Galaxy S2 (also other panorama programs), but they DON'T have AE lock, and stitching its not good (for example, try do panorama in dark room with one bright window...)
So, is there hope for some software developing on Android, maybe for ICS?
Hello again, just want to say that I found some kind of solution, if someone other than me is interested
Fast Burst Camera app (in beta for now) have some AE lock and I can take photos for panorama, thats GREAT, but the app can take max resolution of 800x600 ...
Also if there is other program... PLEASE let me know about it, I'm interested in paying for it
no need to pay, use fireworks mode,
stock cam app extends shutter speed to 1 second.
here's my sample

Hello again
I've found the perfect camera APP and its called Camera FV-5 !
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.camera.pro&feature=search_result
V1.1 supports AE-L (AutoExposure-Lock), but only for ICS devices. However, it's not working on custom ROM's, that's what the developer of the program say'd to me, when I ask him "why does AE-L not working with me". I'm ont Lite'ning V2.6 ROM (ICS 4.0.3 based).
The developer say'd that this future works only ot original ICS releases (for now), it has to do something with the camera driver/apk (I don't understand that much)
Could I flash from somewhere original ICS base on this ROM, the only thing I want is to work AE-L on my phone

I found out how to lock the focus (it's the last option in the Focus menu), but how do you lock the Aperture?
Also, I tried the Exposure Bracketing and took 7 shots, would anyone recommend a free software to make an HDR picture out of these?

good/expensive equipment might give you clearer pictures with higher pixels but it is also not wrong for anyone (including photographers) to use their smart phones for photography, as the matter of fact capturing photos at the right moment is the most important factor of all.
many of my photographer friends enjoy the photo taking capability with today's smart phones for several reasons: 1. it's very handy because people carry their phone on them all the time. 2. Easy-Quick to use 3.picture quality is good enough in most cases.
So I just ordered my G5. Wondered, does it have manual video settings like the V10? I know it has manual shooter controls for the camera, but I wasn't sure about the video camera. If not, anyone heard of/found a way to get the V10 camera on the G5 yet? I was reading a post in another place that someone made the V10 camera app work on G4, so I wondered if the G5 has that function and if not, has anyone made a working version.
No

I don't think so. In an article by phonearena about lg g5 vs lg g4 it says "both smartphones can record videos in resolutions up to 4K, and both don't have manual video controls."

No it doesn't as the previous poster said. The reason I believe that it doesn't is that the V10 is a flagship primarily focused on Video & Multimedia users. Hence the "V" in it's name.

Hey guys, I just ordered the phone today and it'll be arriving in not more than a month or so.
I'm curious if Camera quality really is different depending on the ROM because of the libs, framework or IDK, enlighten me.
Question is in the title anyway, thank you!
Google camera HDR+ app on nougat roms. Pretty good HDR pics and great in low light.
someone took the app from google phones and made it usable with phones with snapdragon 820
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-hdr-ported/
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-hdr-customization-raw-support/
Heyyo, eh camera quality is kinda subjective... For me? I do prefer Nougat ROMs with the modified google camera as mentioned before.
There is one downside to Nougat ROMs though and that's the camera flash... Sadly the way LeEco implemented the flash via I2C doesn't work well with current nougat ROMs thus it isn't perfectly synched with the camera. So for dark photos with flash? Marshmallow ROMs are still better in that condition. I rarely take photos with flash so I'm not too concerned but just gonna mention it so you know too

Here's a bunch of photos I took with the Google camera mod with HDR+ set to auto as it tends to work best on auto for a balanced shutter speed and quality.
https://goo.gl/photos/zsxYdUGLJGbkBRD28
So yeah, thus far Nougat with the modded google camera works darn good.
Here's the version of it I'm using
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120756004
Like I mentioned previously the only downside to Nougat camera quality is flash synchronization. It's not perfect as LeEco uses I2C and thus far the community developers sadly have not been able to mimic it in custom Nougat ROMs... Sadly LeEco will probably never release the source code for it...
If flash synchronization is extremely important to you? That would be the only reason I'd stick with a Marshmallow ROM.

The EUI versions still have a much superior focus but GCam has a incredible better quality on night photos. I swap betwen EUI and RR Nougat from time to time to test new versions for GCam.
Also on Nougat you can enable EIS on all cam apps

Do we have that on Official/Marshmallow based Custom ROMs? And do you have some apps that simulate [email protected] FPS?
AFAIK, no rom has 60 fps with 1080p, even the official MM roms.
In fact, I don't think you can record 60 fps in any resolution, even 720p and below. You do have slow-mo [email protected], looks a bit pixelated though.
P.S.: 4k and 1080p might have artefacts in official roms, noticed that when I got mine a week ago. It's a case of low video bitrate, if you bump up the bitrate (with 3rd party apps)- you can go all the way up to 100mb/s - there's no artefacts.

On the official MM roms, if you pointed the camera at the sky you could notice a lot of artefacts from the compression (low bitrate, around 20 mb/s). Bumping it up to 30 or 40 removed the artifacts
Hello everyone, I bought the pocophone, waiting for it to arrive, but one thing I saw on the spec sheet I didn't like so much was that 4k recording was 30fps - only. I then found this article from geeksultd.com saying that slo-mo also isn't an option, but that the head of POCO said they would implement it if they get enough interest from the community.
That's almost a "killer feature" for me, so Id like to know if something like GCam will work or if it has to be implemented as a low-level thing.
Essentially, my question is where do you sign up, Because it's always better to have it in the native app...
"The community" Is that here, or do you have to go on the official Xiaomi forums?
Lastly, I'm a noob here, so if I didn't post right, please tell me!

Hi, I notice that whenever I use my front camera, especially on messager. the quality is so low or blurry. Is anyone experiencing this?
Me too its even worse than my old oneplus 6 , I'm very disappointed
Same, I don't know why the GT 2 Pro has a really bad front cam. My old Xiaomi Mi 9T can do better do. The front cam of the GT 2 Pro has a very smudgy look which I don't know if it's because of the software or something else.
I recently got the phone and notice this too when taking pictures of items with lettering. It is not as sharp. My old Huawei P10 was better.

Free you can use open camera, it supports 4k on front camera and has camera2api support, and some gamma curves that helps a lot. But if you want amazing quality you can get mcpro24fps that supports 4k, 10bit color depth, HDR HGL profile recording, lots of gamma curves and gamuts, you can get front camera footage out of it that will make anyone think you using a professional camera if you know how to use them properly. Other option is motioncam pro that records full RAW DNG frames witch is crazy hi quality but very hard to use and extremely heavy to deal with. So my recommendation is mcpro24fps, and for photos gcam off course. If you don't use gcam in any android device you just crazy.
This video is from the front camera with mcpro24fps:
I can take a shot on full blow clear sky and sun tomorrow if you want to see the great dinamic range you can get

- Added settings option which pops up if you long click on app icon on your launcher
If the app is crashing enter the settings via long click on app icon and change the Device Interface for all lenses. E.g. to "Pixel 2 XL (Taimen)".

Yeah, try doing the same in the stock camera , you gonna look like a nuclear bomb exploded, I really never even bother opening the stock camera app, it makes me mad to see a good sensor wasted with this Realme software. Just the fact that front camera is capped at 1080 for no reason drives me crazy already.
I think the app is worth every penny. The developers are also amazing, just a while ago there was no support for 10bit HDR on the app for the gt2 pro, I asked about it on the official app telegram group and in one week they added support
