Tried handcent with no luck. Still can't send or receive MMS.
I have an s3 and also have this issue - anyone find a solution?
Google a little bit. Sounds like this is a known issue for T-Mobile on many different devices. :-(

Really? I never had the problem while texting

Unfortunately this is an issue, but I don't know if the blame can be placed on TMobile, as the stock messaging app will allow me to send an MMS over WIFI. The reason being is that MMS is sent using the carrier's data connection. With the stock app, while using wifi, it disconnects from the wifi connection just long enough to send the MMS. However, when using a third party, it does not register and therefor isn't sent until you disconnect from the wifi or resend through the stock app.
Works for me bro. But then again, my data is always on...

This is a pretty crap issue.
I have no damn signal in my house (even though I really should), so Wifi Calling is a godsend (even though it likes to randomly turn off).
But I've got five MMS pending download because of a group text, and I can't reply. I would have to go up the street to get them.
I'm on Verizon and have the same problem. Only solution to sending and receiving is to clear data, but have to do that every time i send or receive an MMS on stock. tried Go SMS and Handcent, and get the same issues.

This worked for me at work and at home. Just need to do this for every wifi access point you use. I found this on Rootzwiki.
Long press on your Wifi connection
Press "Modify Network"
Scroll down to IP Settings and change that from "DHCP" to "Static"
Scroll down to DNS and enter the following information:
DNS 1 - 8.8.4.4
DNS 2 - 8.8.8.8
Press Save
REBOOT YOUR PHONE! This is important.
I would love to be able to send SMS through my WiFi because I get crap signal in my room.... is there a WiFi calling app for att?

Is anyone else having issues receiving MMS? I get sms just fine, but I am not receiving any MMS. Or if I do receive MMS it is a day after it was sent.

This may not be the same but I've noticed that when I get MMS I will get the notification sound and vibration but nothing will show up in the notification center until a little later(a minute or two).

probably going to need more information, like, are you rooted, did you freeze / delete any bloat? etc.
I am rooted and froze some things. I defrosted the vzw messaging app and that seems to have fixed it.

This isn't an issue. What is happening is your phone is getting the message, so it notifies you, and then it downloads it, therefore taking time, and once its downloaded it notifies you again. My S3 was the same, and I believe my basic phones before were like that too, just the way it works.
Make sure you're not on wifi. Verizon phones can't send or receive MMS over wifi, only on the mobile network.

While at home and on WiFi my phone has no problems sending pictures over to my girlfriend's phone..
Also I have the VZW Messaging app frozen, along with everything else with Verizon in its name so don't think that's the issue either.

I currently have a phone and VPN connection as described above. It connects and works great. The issue I am having, and have searched xda and google for the answer, is that when the VPN is connected everything works fine, except MMS. The APN is correct, per T-Mobile's website. I can send and receive MMS without the VPN connected. The moment I connect to the VPN my MMS in and out fail. I have read on Cisco's website that android has something blocking MMS when connected to VPN.
So, my question is: Is there any way to remove this block or reroute only MMS traffic outside of the VPN? I do have Android Firewall installed, so iptables is usable to do this.
No one has anything for this?

The only "solution" I found, but did not feel it was the true answer, was just a workaround. I noticed that when I am hooked to wifi as well MMS fail to send and to receive. I just have to turn it off and wait for the message than turn it back on. Sucks I know, but it works.

That's a bummer! My biggest problem is receiving messages. I don't get any notification that it's trying to receive a message so I don't even know one is trying to come in.

I do get these messages, but I am using a third party MMS/SMS client (ChompSMS) that tells me when it is trying to receive something.

I may have found a solution but I still need to do more testing. When looking through the settings of some messaging apps I've noticed some give you a "MMS Behavior" option. In Textra it says:
Code:
Try 'System' if legacy MMS isn't work (for example with Project Fi, VPNs, WiFi MMS, etc).
So I set it to System and so far it seems to be working fine while being connected to my VPN. If I change back to "Legacy" or to a different default messaging app without that option it seems like they stop coming through again.
So far I've only tested this with pictures messages and haven't had a chance to try group texts yet. ChompSMS has the option in there but I've only tested it with Textra. I'm using a Galaxy S7 on Verizon so I'm not sure if that affects anything either.
Well, I tested it in ChompSMS, but no luck.

I would bet this is because the MMS server only allows the carrier IP Range. If it's blocking over Wifi as well that would prove that it's not just VPN that is causing it. I would imagine you could receive MMS from anywhere if you have a way of getting your mobile/carrier IP address. (Some sort of proxy(?))

I haven't used these in a while, but when I did they both worked over wifi. Textra and 8SMS. See if installing either one helps, if not uninstall.
But beware, if your provider doesn't support MMS over wifi you won't be able to use it, here is the warning from 8sms on MMS settings:
MMS over Wifi
If your cellular network (ie. Sprint) supports mms over wifi, you can enable Settings » MMS Settings » MMS over Wifi.
If your cellular network does not support mms over wifi (or you are not sure), then DO NOT enable MMS over Wifi or mms will stop working.

I had issues with having my VPN active and not getting SMS/MMS messages while connected. Went looking for an answer and found that there wasn't any one single solution for it so I thought I'd post what worked for me. FWIW I'm on T-Mobile USA with Android 6.0.1.
Within my VPN configuration I went to the 'Allowed Apps' tab and excluded my SMS/MMS programs and processes. Namely I made sure Textra, Messenger, and MmsService were all excluded from the VPN and this resolved my issue. After disconnecting and reconnecting the VPN my text messages are sent and received without issue.
Was a pain in the butt for me as I have tasker setup to bring my VPN to life whenever it's not connected to my home wifi network. Took me a day or two to notice that text messages weren't going anywhere while the VPN was active. Oddly enough being on my home wifi network along with wifi calling being active has never caused an issue with SMS/MMS not working, but having a VPN active did.
I have switched to the Nexus 6P and am running rooted stock 7.1.1 (beta). Still with T-Mobile. I still have issues with MMS on wifi and on VPN, but no issue with SMS. It is strange. Maybe it is time to ask T-Mobile.

So i have had the vivo 5 for a couple weeks now. I dont like the app drawer did zenui and thats great. My next headache is the mms while on wifi at home. If i text anyone a pic or a group message while i am on wifi it does not automatically switch back to data instead it fails. I have to actually turn off wifi wait for it to send and then turn back on my wifi. Is there a setting i am missing or is this a bug in the messenger app? Can it be fixed in the short term till developers build custom roms for it?
Otherwise i love the phone. I have another question but will post it in a separate thread.
Mms working fine for me, might be my 3rd party texting app (textra). Try messenger or another 3rd party sms app, might fix the problem.
I downloaded textra. It did not work until I turned on T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling fix. This feature turned off my Wi-Fi while I sent and received mms and turned it right back on after. So awesome. So is there a catch with this app? Will I get lots of ads or what not?
I just got a Vivo 5 and i don't see that issue and i am on T-Mobile as well, is it possible some other installed app is causing the issue?
I'm also using Textra because of this issue.
I haven been noticing that I been missing a lot of calls and getting delayed text messages once in a while I am currently running on the t-mobile network here in the US. I have a one plus 6t as well and I tested it and I receive my calls with no one mention that my phone has went to voicemail. I have even performed a hard rest to see if maybe it was an app or a setting and still continues. Anyone else experiencing the same thing? Call log shows no missed calls and asked several people to text me with the time they sent out the text and it's delayed at times for over 30 minutes thanks in advance
I've had an issue similar, no one could call me until I call them first, Just went straight to voicemail everytime someone tried to call me.. I think it has something to do with the Wi-Fi switch because I turned off the Wi-Fi and turned it back on and it corrected itself. I could still receive msgs but where delayed until then.

Hi mate,
I had similar issues (at least with delayed text's) when locked. It was a battery saving issue, just make the Messages always run without power-saving option enabled.
Had issues with calls when Call over WiFi was enabled (enabled by default), disabled it and now works flawless (even with VoLTE).
Yea, been having this issue since I replaced my S9+ with the Mate 20 Pro.
My MintMobile SIM registers as T-mobile on the Mate 20 Pro. Most of the calls I don't receive and my wife says it goes to voice mail after first ring.
Where in the settings I can make adjustments to help eliminate this issue? Thanks!

I'm having the same issue on MintSim in the US. Messages seem fine but sometimes calls seem to go straight to voicemail. There is no calls over wifi setting on my phone as far as I can tell (and no volte) so I would be interested if there is a fix for this as well. I never had the issue with my P20 Pro but it's happened several times with the Mate 20 Pro.
I'm tempted to manually input the MintSim APN settings but since the signal is very strong with the default T-Mobile settings I'm not sure how that could help.
I'm using the MintMobile Ultra APN settings. If I default to the T mobile settings, mms don't work.

This only happens to T-Mobile and most likely related to WIFI calling, incoming calls goes to voicemail right away for me sometimes (both Note 8 and Mate 20 pro), but my wife on AT&T never had this issue

Strange. With the default T-Mobile settings mms works for me and my signal app shows a stronger signal than with the Ultra settings.
Which signal app are you referring to? For me, I usually have to turn wifi off for mms to come in or sent out. It doesn't work when the wifi is On, with either the T-mobile or Ultra APNs.

Hi everyone,
Did anyone find a solution to the problem? I still have an issue with text messages and calls. I'm wondering if I should get a new phone....
Actually I just found one. I believe it has to do with Wi-Fi calling being on. Normally this option is supposed to be usable under settings and mobile networks, but since I'm using T-mobile I find the option completely off the phone or so it seems. I downloaded quick shortcut maker from the Google play store. Once opened I just typed in the top search bar Wi-Fi. From there you'll see 3 icons, a phone, settings, and wifi. Select the settings icon, scroll all the way down. Now you should see 2 entries that read Wi-Fi Calling, select the first one, the click on the middle button that says try. Wifi calling should be enabled, just switch it off and that should be it. Attached some screen shots of the process so it shouldn't be difficult. I was going crazy when people said they tried calling so many times but not one I receive or messages that are delayed for up to 30 minutes. I hope this solution helps anyone in this situation
Wi-Fi calling on my Mate 20 Pro is grayed out. So that cannot be the case for me.
Yea, my wife gets very upset when she calls me. Out of 10 calls, just one will come through. She will leave a voice mail, and hours later I will get the notification.
Sent from my LYA-L09 using Tapatalk
You selected the first one? When trying the second wifi calling option in shortcut maker the wifi calling was greyed out and the slider didn't work at all
Same issue
I've been fighting with my Mate 20 Pro since the day I got it. I'm on T Mobile. Some calls go to voicemail, some calls make it through. It's hit and miss. I haven't been able to find a common denominator. There's also a cellular data issue with the phone. When streaming video, the connection will suddenly drop out. The phone shows good signal, but it loses data. Turning the cellular data off and back on again fixes this issue. I think the data issue may still be related to the Visual Voicemail issue that T Mobile has with these phones. I was able to get Visual Voicemail to work (mostly) but I think the data is still affected by the Visual Voicemail issue , albeit to a much lesser extent than then it was before. I've been in contact with T Mobile and they have no solution to this issue. They did a sim card swap for me, but the issue persists.
Same sort of problem here. I'm on a KPN business contract, have been for many years. Never a call problem with the mate 9 and 10 but if people call me on the m20pro they don't hear the dial tone so they usually hang up thinking my phone is switched off or something. This really sucks!
I loved the m10pro especially but the m20pro is not my friend due to the calling issue and the really crap LG screen.
I've posted this issue on T-Mobiles Forum in hopes of getting them to take notice. Here is the link.
