Micro sd card as internal - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

Hello guys,I need help to put my 128go sd card as inernal, how can i do this on this phone ?
Thanks

Not possible, Xiaomi seems to have removed the Combined Storage function of Marshmallow...

Not True, Flash a custom ROM like lineage, as it just became an offical device, and then it will allow combined storage. Just note the class of your sd card matters, and if its not a quick card, it may serverly slow down your phone. Just look up how to install lineage.

It is possible to use adoptable storage on stock miui without root. Xiaomi only hide this option.
My woman use redmi 3s,and stock rom. I made it and works perfectly. Only one bug, that phone wrong see free memory in control panel. How o did it?
Google for example phrase
sm partition mixed

MM update using SD as system memory

As we all know vanilla marshmallow provides the feature to use a micro SD card AS system memory. But since i havent Found it on the mm beta update i was wondering if anyone did. Maybe it is missing due the fact that mm is still in beta. What do you think?
They will maybe add it in later beta versions or final, i don't know if they will
I'm also confused about this. The option to move apps to sd has been removed. You can set the sd card as default storage location and when I downloaded music from my nas my only option was a location I hadn't seen before: /storage/32FD-3596 which turned out to be the sd card.
I haven't looked for hidden folders so I'm not sure if apps are partly or wholly stored there but I doubt it as I only have 5.7gb free of 10.4gb.
It looks like the common internal/sd storage hasn't been implemented. If storage is integrated at some point however, surely this will make occasionally using the 2nd slot with a Sim card impossible as removing the sd card would break apps fully or partially stored there.
it seems to me that Huawei has not implemented MM "adoptable storage" functions
(a little explanation of "adoptable storage" can be found here http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/10/android-6-0-marshmallow-thoroughly-reviewed/7/)
i can't find that option in the newer firmware for my honor 7
very sad
If they wont implement it they would spare the most valuable feature in mm .. If so id consider selling my h7 and get another phone.. Lets hope they will include it in the next build
Can anyone confirm moving apps to SD doesn't work?

So if I have under Android 5 apps moved to SD, they will be automatically moved to the device system partition again along with the Android M update?
Sounds either like a preparation step for a later upgrade including this new feature or like a limitation - does Android M still support apps to SD if the external storage isn't merges with the internal?

Nandroid - How to Backup - incl. migrated SD

Hi all,
I stuck with thinking and perhaps somebody knows if this is possible at all and how to:
I have an Onyx and I am on new bootloader, TWRP by BlueSpark and ROM is Crdroid Nougat 7.1
This works perfect as daily driver.
Usually I do nandroids out of TWRP for proper backup before trying other things and I use the OTG connection with a 128GB drive, also worked perfectly so far.
Lately I added a microsd instead of the 2nd SIM, and I migrated it to become available as internal memory, because I ran out of memory.
Also this is working well and as exepted.
Now I would like to go into TWRP and make a Nandroid. At this point I am not able to backup internal memery including the migrated SD card. I can only backup the "real" internal part, so I do not have a real snapshot of the whole phone to be on hand if needed to be restored.
How can I achieve that, I can't find the clue? There is no relevant partionion I can add, whatever? Is it possible at all? Perhaps it is related to the TWRP version?
Thanks for your thoughts,
D.
I don't have a link for it but I'll at least tell you what happened. When you choose to use the SD card as "adopted storage" Android encrypts the SD card so that it can store sensitive app data on it securely. Since it's encrypted TWRP cannot read the SD card now at all. I think there's a version of TWRP on here (maybe by the developer of Blu_spark?) that is for devices that are encrypted but since I myself don't use encryption I don't know where that is on here.

Phone crashes by copy to sd card

Hi @ all,
i faced a problem with my mido running los14 with original kernel.
when i copy bigger amount of filen (3-4gb) from internal to external storage and lock the screen, my phone just after few minutes crashes and restarts after a while.
i already had this problem with my redmi note 3. But never had it with my moto g5 plus.
so now on my mido, its back again. could it be enabled fsync?
i have a brand new sandisk 128gb sd card... cuz my redmi note 3 grilled my last one.
Has someone an idea what it could be? might be something to set in kernel auditor but i dont get clever out of this...

My Redmi note 4x OS in a continuously endless reboot loop

My Redmi Note 4x have a question with a continuously endless reboot loop after I add an external SD card (Sandisk Extreme Pro/ 32G) into SIM card holder that it be set as internal storage. However, the OS work normally after external SD card is unmounted.
Is there any way to set an external SD card as internal storage?
32G internal storage is not enough for me~~~
Thanks for anyone helping.

Are you on miui? Or on a custom rom? I don't really know if miui has an option to set sd card as internal storage, but i know custom roms have them. Regarding the bootloop, disable the feature from settings so you can end the bootloop

My suggestion is to upgrade to aosp extended v5.1 since v5.0 isnt going to be much updated plus it has bugs. Maybe that's am issue to the rom. Just boot in the phone without the sd card, then when the phone is on insert the sd card and format it normally. Then u can just copy the zips and flash them.

You can use titanium backup, but unfortunately that's the only thing :highfive:
More a question,if I only back up all the data, cache etc which are existing in AOSP ROM 5.0 except for system, can all things which are described above restore to AOSP ROM 5.1 after ROM 5.0 be upgraded and backup file be flashed via TWRP ?
In a nutshell, I don't want to lost things which were installed in AOSP ROM 5.0~~

As the above friend said, you can use titanium backup to backup all your apps that you have installed and then restore them after upgrading rom. It's pretty easy and from my experience you might have to configure some apps again, but all will be restored.

Samsung SM-P580 - root, TWRP, etc. - PROBLEMS!! HELP!

HELP PLEASE? I have a stock Galaxy Tab A - SM-P580 - 16GB (2016). It is running Android 8.1.0. I am using a 200GB SD card. I am running up against the wonderful internal storage issue. I have less than 1GB of free internal storage. It says I have 7GB in Apps. I assume the rest of the storage is being used by the Android OS. I would like to move a pile of this to the SD card but am not being allowed to. I have read about using various mods that will allow me to use the SD card (partial or fully) as internal storage and I have read pros and cons regarding doing that. I've using ODIN and TWRP and I have tried several times but I get as far as ending up with blue lines and no further so I flipped back to stock. I tried another method but once I reboot I end up with the "Swipe to unlock" message and am not able to get any further with that so once again I go back to stock. Can anyone out there PLEASE point me in the right direction - other than buying a new tablet with more internal memory. Thank you all!
Hello, first you have to install this TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/development/recovery-twrp-3-3-1-0-p580-oreo-t4048671 , then you have to boot on TWRP and install the adoptable storage zip that you can found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/how-to/patch-adoptable-storage-enabler-t3507387/amp/ , next you have to boot on System, insert your SD card and look for the option to reset the SD card under settings/device maintenance/storage/3 dots/storage settings/SD card/3 dots/format as... Be sure that you have a backup of your data and the original 8.1 ROM just in case. This only work with 8.1 ROM
