OEM unlock in developer menu questions - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

Do we have to unlock it before we flash a rom? What if we go to twrp and format the entire device, means, delete absolutely everything including OS and flash a rom?

Of course you can wipe everything in TWRP including internal memory. Then you can flash ROM with sideload command.

Bootloader state error - Boot to TWRP when trying to unlock, still locked

Hey guys,
i've got the following problem: Unlocking the bootloader, installing TWRP and other ROMs went hassle free and worked flawless until recently.
Now, after having to reflash a clean OOS 2.2.0, it says the bootloader is locked again. TWRP is still installed. When trying to unlock the phone, it just boots to TWRP (which shortly prints an error message, but its too short to read) and shows that the bootloader is still locked in fastboot.
The problem is similar to this one:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/opo-back-from-the-dead-story-of-a-brick.144155/
In that thread, a solution is pointed out -- namely, this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54251992
The script is for OPO only, so I'm left in the rain. Do you guys know any other way out of my misery?

Install stock recovery and unlock bootloader again...
I'll give it a try. Would you point me in the direction of where to find the recovery.img for that?
EDIT: Phew, did it. Your way worked. I can't even count anymore how often I wiped and reflashed the whole thing in the last 24 hours...
I have exactly the same problem. I have the stock recovery file. Can i just flash it with TWRP ? and stock recovery will be loaded? because i can't use fastboot to load i because its locked
reboot into twrp
copy Stock_recovery.img to device folder
go to install
at the bottom select install image
select stock_recovery.img
reboot into fastboot
in cmd type fastboot oem unlock
reboot into stock recovery
wipe data/cache
format data
install from usb
go to cmd again
sideload oxygen zip instalation
in cmd write adb sideload drag and drop oxygenos.zip

Ido bootloop with custom rom

Hey,
whatever custom rom I try, I end up with bootloop - phone is restarting after It finishes optimizing apps. I've tried Collapseromer - CM13-6.6.28, ResurrectionRemix - v5.6.8 and some cm-13.0-RC2.0 from here. I'm flashing stuff from MIUI 8 Developer ROM.
Phone is Redmi 3 - ido (not pro version).
I've unlocked phones bootloader with app from Mi, found here. Checked if phone is unlocked with:
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
After that I followed instructions for installing TWRP here.
Code:
adb root
adb disable-verity
adb reboot bootloader
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-ido.img
fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-0-ido.img
In TWRP slected Advanced wipe -> wiped all partitions.
Next I've used adb sideload to flash the device. In case of RR rom used:
Code:
adb sideload ResurrectionRemix-M-v5.6.8-ido.zip
Restarted and after app optimization rom restarts.
Any suggestions are welcome and will be appreciated.
Here's how I have done 3 different Redmi 3 non-pro versions of the phone.
Unlocked the bootloader using a developer rom.
Copied the rom from here, to the internal storage.
Downloaded ARM64/5.1/Pico or Mini from here & copied to the same folder on the internal storage.
Downloaded TWRP 3.0.2.0 from here.
Power down the phone. Hold volume Down + Power and you will be in fastboot.
rename your twrp file to recovery.img & then use the following commands.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot boot recovery.img.
In TWRP swipe to modify the system partition. Select wipe & swipe to complete. Don't reboot.
Go back to the main menu and install ZIP files. Add the Rom in the 1st link & then add more zips, then add the gapps.
Once complete wipe dalvik/cache & again don't reboot but go back and wipe again.
Reboot and away you go. Not had an issue on any of the phones using that method.
Would also high recommend the ROM i've posted, been using it as a daily driver and it's been virtually flawless.
Additional wipes and your rom worked like a charm. Thanks.

First of all consider looking at the date of post.. it's from 2016 - obviously nobody's gonna provide you with any support in this one.
Second of all get yourself a newer rom - something reliable such as LineageOS for IDO and just adb sideload it from recovery or push it to internal storage and install with GUI.

How can I lock the phone back after unlocking bootloader, rooting, installing Xposed?

How can I lock the phone back after unlocking bootloader, rooting, installing Xposed?
Wipe installed custom ROM (System+data+cache+dalvik).
**Internal storage optional (You may have to flash TWRP again though).
Install MIUI recovery ROM pack through TWRP. Run MIUI initial setup. Reboot to fastboot and flash stock recovery, you can find stock recovery in MIUI forums. After that check for successful flash and successful system boot. Only then run the fastboot command to lock the bootloader :
fastboot oem lock
**Do not lock with TWRP. You'll hard brick your phone
***After flashing MIUI in TWRP flash lazyflasher or your device will be stuck
If you don't understand the complications in this method please ignore it, am sure there are some easier ways using MiFlash. Check MIUI forum for relocking and recovering to MIUI. If you wanna come back to the world of custom ROMs and Mods XDA is the place.

Thank You
BTW If you have the time could you write this more in steps like for a noob. If not it still kicks a$$ and thanks for reply
First you need to get rid of your current ROM and it's data. For that boot into TWRP and select wipe, in the list of partitions displayed select :
•System
•Data
•Cache
•Dalvikand confirm wipe. This step removes the ROM and data associated with it. Now the only thing you can access is TWRP and fastboot.
Also during wipe you can also select to wipe Internal Storage partition but after you do this you may lose TWRP also at the next boot. Now your phone can only boot into fastboot mode. So if you did wipe your internal storage also flash TWRP again from fastboot. If you ask how..:
•Download TWRP recovery from here
•Copy the downloaded file to any folder on your PC.
•Install ADB and fastboot drivers on your PC if you haven't.
•Reboot phone into fastboot mode(Power + Volume down) and connect to PC.
•Go to folder where your placed the TWRP image file.
•Open command prompt in that folder (Shift+right click mouse, open command window here)
•Type the following commands without the quotes :
" fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.1-0-mido.IMG "
•Now try rebooting into TWRP (Power + Volume Up). If you followed the steps right you should be able to.Remember this step is only if you decide to wipe internal storage also else it is completely not necessary.
OK now that you are left with a phone that only has TWRP we need a ROM to boot into, in your case you want a MIUI ROM. Download latest stable MIUI recovery ROM pack from MIUI website or just google if your having trouble finding it. For MIUI ROMs to successfully boot on a custom recovery you need to flash an additional zip called lazyflasher else your phone will be stuck at the MI logo. I'll attach the zip below. Okay so now since you have the required files copy them to your phone's internal storage.
Boot into TWRP and install the MIUI ROM zip first and the Lazyflasher zip after that. Reboot into system and phone should enter MIUI initial setup in some minutes(be patient MIUI initial boot can be long). Finish the setup.
Now you need to flash the latest stock recovery of your phone. I don't have it with me now so a simple google search will do the work. The procedure for flashing the recovery is the same as flashing TWRP which I have mentioned above. The only change you have do in the fastboot command line is the file name of your stock recovery.
After flashing check for successful boot, only then proceed with the relocking procedure as follows:
•Boot phone into fastboot mode
•Connect to PC
•Open Command prompt
•Type this fastboot command without the quotes :
" fastboot oem lock"•Once done reboot your phone.
Now you must have a relocked phone.
**Never relock your phone with any custom mods like custom recovery, custom ROM or even a MIUI which is rooted. Also be on 100% stock configuration before relocking device. Failing to do so will result in a hard brick.

Redmi 5 plus bricket - Stuck in mi logo - Nothing Work

Hello,
My Redmi 5 plus is stuck in MI Logo, i tried TESTPOINT and flash MIUI 10 - MIUI 11, Global, Beta, Chinese, all sucessful but the phone still stuck in Mi Logo. I can acess fastboot but the phone is locked, so i dont know what i can do to restore the phone.
Someone can help me? I searched the forum, found people with the same problem as me but no solution.
Thx
There is solution.
1. Enter fastboot and Unlock bootloader (using the same process mi unlock tool)
2. Flash OrangeFox recovery using Minimal ADB and fastboot
3. Format data Clean flash any aosp based custom rom (wipe cache, dalvik, system, data)
4. Let the room finish Boot and then reboot to recovery again
5. Then clean flash MIUI using Orangefox (if you wanted to flash it in the first place)
It should Boot now.
Is there any way for an official bootloader unlock except for boxes?

You have to use official mi unlock tool for unlocking bootloader. I don't understand what you mean by "boxes".

I'm trying exactly these steps but seems it goes bootloop aswell, doesnt boot both custom rom and MIUI.
I'm flashing with orangefox the MIUI.zip, not the fastboot, if i'm wrong let me know.
did you format data? it's not the same as wiping. it's under manage partitions in orangefox. it'll delete your internal storage

Yes, i formatted data and reboot to recovery to make partitions set-up before rebooting to system.
I'm trying again today something i missed. I'll keep checking this post.
Detailed process:
1) Wipe cache, system, data, dalvik
2) Format Data
3) Reboot to recovery (to make partitions set-up)
4) Flash my aosp rom
5) Reboot to recovery
6) Reboot system (and getting bootloop)
And i repeat the process for MIUI rom.
Update: I managed to solve this, as you can read here: forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5/help/redmi-note-5-plus-vince-bootloop-stuck-t4044219
Solved
1) Flash TWRP or OrangeFox (i did it with OF)
2) Clean Flash any custom rom, probably still bootloop
3) Reboot recovery
4) Wipe everything (dalvik, data, system, cache), also format data (format ≠ wipe)
5) Reboot recovery
6) Flash your MIUI rom
7) Reboot recovery
8) Repeat step #4
9) Reboot recovery
10) Flash again your MIUI rom
11) Reboot recovery
12) Flash persist.img file in persist partition, you can find this file in your fastboot MIUI rom downloaded at https://c.mi.com/miuidownload/index
13) Reboot system
14) Wait a lot, take a cup of tea.

How to go back to stock and install the latest update

Hi, I'm having some issues trying to install the newest update of A10.
I was on A9 with unlocked bootloader, root and twrp of recovery.
I first tried to install the .rar image via recovery but I couldn't find in the memory, but I already wiped system vendor and data.
So when I rebooted to try if the file was there or not, there was no recovery anymore.
Now I'm trying to flash the newest rom via fastboot but through the flash_all.bat it gives me fastboot tz_a error, so I'm trying to install a recovery through fastboot using this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a3/how-to/basic-guide-to-flash-recovery-rom-via-t3989603 but of course it doesn't work and when I reboot it doesn't enter the recovery but always in fastboot (even tho I press the + button).
What should I do now? Is there anyway to erase everything and install a clean OS from 0 just from fastboot? (Without the flash_all or miflash because it doesn't work)
P.S. I don't care about the data, I've done a backup of all my important files before
Thanks for the help
Sapper Morton said:
First, you have to understand what you did. You wiped your system and vendor image, and didn't installed a newer one afterwards, you didn't wiped your recovery (it's inside boot partition).
Further, .rar files will not be flashed through TWRP, .zip must be used instead, with proper format, there must be a compatible flash script inside.
You can't access your recovery, just because you wiped system; inside your bootloader there's a component responsible to manage the slots, bootctl and by default if it detects a corrupted or invalid system partition, it will always boot onto bootloader mode.
As for the tz_a error, you must unlock critical partitions flashing, just because, tz is a critical partition, thus, run in Fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock_critical
If you want to know your current state, use:
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
Your current slot is blocked by bootctl, but this doesn't mean your inactive is too, so, use:
Code:
fastboot set_active other
And reboot into TWRP again, that is, if you do have it installed in your inactive slot.
Fastboot/ADB and other tools, you will find it in here:
https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip

Thanks for the help but I managed to get into the recovery and install the rom via fastboot, the thing I was missing was a recovery working for Android10 (even though I remember recovery doesn't have nothing to do witg the installed OS), so I managed to install the recovery and root, and everything went fine after a few tries between various guides. Probably my partitions now are all messed up, but if I boot normally it goes into system (slot A), if I boot into recovery it goes into twrp and also works fastboot. Probably I also installed the OS on slot b, but I don't care as long the first partition works well
