USB otg issue - E 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good day. When I first bought my moto E 4g, i tried putting in my usb otg, but when I updated it on marshmallow, my usb otg wasn't read. Please help me.

Try using es file explorer and in the side menu under the tab "local" you'll find the name of ur pendrive. For me it only worked with es file explorer, i had the same issue.

I have ES Explorer bud, but still nothing happened. I still can't find it. But my charging port doesn't have a problem

[Q] Connect to SMB shares?

I use es fie explorer to connect to shared drives on my home pc on my G2 running CM7 without issues. However using the same program for my TP2 I can't connect. I've tried other file explorers as well all with the same result. Has anyone had any success connecting to smb shares? If yes, can you share your setup? Thanks in advance.

I have used ES File Explorer and Astro to connect to Windows SMB shares. I do not know of any special setup though? With ES File Explorer I just have it scan my network for shares and then pick the PC that has the shares I want. With Astro I have to specify the IP address of the PC that I want to connect to, but that is only a one time deal.
Try AndSMB. It works for me, while I cannot connect using ES File explorer.

Thanks for your replies, guys. Today's update of es file explorer fixed my issues.
I'm trying to connect my TF101 to a V-Gear Landisk (SMB share) on my network.
I can connect with my PC (on the same wired network), and see the top-level MUSIC folder and many sub-folders.
I have tried ES File Explorer, CifsManager, Mount Manager, and AndSMB with essentially the same results:
I can connect and see the top-level MUSIC folder, but when I open it, I don't see any sub-folders.
In some cases, I get error messages such as "path doesn't exist" or "timeout"; sometimes I just see an empty folder.
Can anyone help me get this working?
Thanks,
Eric

USB On-The-Go functionality for CM-based ROMS

I'm not sure whether I'm having hardware issues, but USB OTG function doesn't seem to work when I'm trying to connect a flash drive to my phone (XT1521). I've tried this on both CM13 (August Nightlies onwards) and RR 5.7.4. Previously on stock rom (6.0), USB OTG works okay when it comes to flash drives. Nowadays, my phone doesn't seem to detect flash drives, though it could detect other input devices, such as mouse. Please note that the flash drives are using FAT format. Is there anyone who's having the same problem? I'm really wondering whether this is an issue with CM-based ROMS for Surnia, or it's just my phone. Any helpful info would truly be appreciated.
well, Ive used cm13 and have been able to connect the pendrive using otg and was able to view the files. Try this=>
download es file explorer and then slide for the side menu and u will find a tab named "local", click on it and u will find the usb device connected. Click on the name of the usb drive and u will be to access it..
Note: Ive tried numerous apps but none except es file explorer could detect the usb device.

I've just downloaded ES File Explorer and did what you've just said. Sadly, there's nothing. :'( I do see the point of using ES, as some USB Drives seem to be rather picky with file explorers, even with my Xperia M back in the days. Is there any prompt appearing in your notifications drawer when you plug in your drive? I get nothing. ?

Help! Otg on Lenovo A916

I buy a Lenovo a916 phone not long ago;most of the phones have support for otg,so I tried in it,but it didn't work. I tried using different tools and procedures: I rooted it using Kingroot (it makes the phone really slow), and used differents apps, like SMP,version 3,25; USB OTG Helper, and USB OTG checker. I checked my phone, and there were two errors. I manually fix them (using es explorer, changing permissions and modifying some files), so the app said that I can connect the otg devices, but... nothing happened. Maybe I did something wrong. Can anyone help me? thanks.

USB Connector Unresponsive

For some unknown reason I can no longer plug in my USB Connector to my Note 8 and see what is on the external Flash Drive which I have movies and music on. I go to my ES File Explorer Pro APK and it does not show this additional drive. I am up-to-date on all my software running Android V9 1.0 . I know the USB connector is good as I can see what is on the external Flash Drive when I plug it into my old S7 Edge running Android V8.
Did Android V9 eliminate this function?
I did do google and searches on this forum and could not find anything related to this.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you.
Just Resolved my Problem
When I searched I went for USB Connector and could not find anything. Now I found this link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/problem-otgusb-n950f-t3732174
The Subject was: Problem with OTG&USB N950F
It resolved my problem and I can see the flash drive.
I downloaded and Installed X-Plore File Manager.
Hope this post helps others!!!!!
