For some unknown reason I can no longer plug in my USB Connector to my Note 8 and see what is on the external Flash Drive which I have movies and music on. I go to my ES File Explorer Pro APK and it does not show this additional drive. I am up-to-date on all my software running Android V9 1.0 . I know the USB connector is good as I can see what is on the external Flash Drive when I plug it into my old S7 Edge running Android V8.
Did Android V9 eliminate this function?
I did do google and searches on this forum and could not find anything related to this.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you.
Just Resolved my Problem
When I searched I went for USB Connector and could not find anything. Now I found this link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/problem-otgusb-n950f-t3732174
The Subject was: Problem with OTG&USB N950F
It resolved my problem and I can see the flash drive.
I downloaded and Installed X-Plore File Manager.
Hope this post helps others!!!!!

Hi everyone, I have some problems on Win7 64 Bit with my gs3. When I connect it in usb mode it doesn't work. Very few time I can open the mass storage. I don't know if this is a driver problem, and another problem is that when I use Kies, the program find my s3 but there isn't sync with it.
So I can't do anything.

my experience
Hi, my s3 was bought this month and I've updated to 4.1.1 OTA. No root.
I've never used kies, but about the usb mass storage, it just doesn't do it. When you plug the s3 to a computer, it is always in media transfer, no mass storage mode. There is another mode possible, something I don't really know what it is, but no usb mass storage.
That's what I've found out on the net when I was also looking for it. I was very disappointed. Unless you root it, you can't use it as usb mass storage.
Now, what I do to transfer files, etc, is to use a ftp-server app I've download from google play (free), and use filezilla on my computer (also i7, 64b, like yours). It works nicely, no cables needed. It could be an alternative for you, as it is for me.
Hope it helps.
Mass storage mode was removed with in Galaxy S3, nothing you can do. You should still be able to transfer files. When I plug the phone into my pc, I can simply open it with the windows explorer and there I see all the folders. If this doesn't work, install the samsung USB drivers, they can be found here on the forums.
I checked the Samsung S3 on several occasions and could see the content of the sdcard0 (internal memory) and the removable SD card from the Windows Explorer on a desktop PC with Windows 7 using USB via the MTP protocol.
I did not download or delete anyting via USB.
I noticed both memories were a bit low on space and a few folders on the external card had files I could not understand, so I searched the Play Store for apps that would let me view details (like file and folder sizes) on the external sdcard. I used these apps to read the sdcard, but did not get any wiser.
I then obtained AirDroid from the Play Store and transferred files from S3 to the PC, but did not delete from or upload anything to the S3. AirDroid worked fine. I decided to use USB to delete S3 files a few days later. Before that I used the the PC for a couple days for reading online newspapers from Firefox, but did not do anything that should have changed the workings of the USB. There were a few Windows 7 updates (initiated at PC logoff) that progressed normally with no warnings about incompatible files etc. A few days later I noticed the USB connect to S3 had stopped working. For example I did not see the Auto-play dialog on the PC and nothing from the S3 showed in the Windows Explorer. I used the the USB data cable that came with the Samsung S3.
However, the the Windows Explorer USB connect still worked for a ZTE Blade III using the USB cable that came with the ZTE on the same PC.
Q1. how do I make Windows Explorer see the S3 again?
Q2. what may have been the cause? (can I download android apps or do something on the Windows 7 PC to help to pin-point the problem).

Install Samsung USB drivers

Thanks JJEgan,
What and from where should I download? The S3 USB connect was working for weeks. Could a faulty update from Microsoft have caused this? The S3 is not rooted.
I have downloaded from the Play Store that I assume contains well-behaved programs only, or are there play-store programs that are known to interfere with the USB by design/accident when they run. The PC Windows Explorer USB connect worked with the ZTE Blade 3 mobile after the S3 had gone wrong. If I install Samsung USB drivers is there a risk the ZTE USB connect would go wrong too/instead? I don't know what is required, so I might make the problem worse by downloading the wrong libraries or not doing it the right way.
Is there some program/app I can install on either the PC or Android that would pull in USB libraries and dependencies automatically, a bit like Synaptic package managers in Ubuntu?
Hi all,
I'm having trouble with copying files to the phone. When I connect it to my PC via USB The device pops up in explorer, but every time I try to copy something it fails. When I try to copy entire folders (I'm trying to copy Flac and MP3 music) W10 gives an error that it can't copy the files. When I try to copy files, it shows the copying dialog, but nothing ever happens, however long I wait. I've tried debugging mode, uninstalling Kies, Uninstalling the Samsung drivers, installing ADB drivers,... nothing seems to work. If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
I've also tried a new USB-C 3.1 cable, to no avail. I'm using the USB 3.0 port. When I try an USB 2.0 port with the USB 3 cable, the phone doesn't show up. Which is weird I guess but maybe due to the nature of USB-C.

I forgot to mention that I tried copying a picture from the phone to my pc, which worked perfectly.
Hello, I know your message was time ago, but I have now exactly the same problem with a Leeco LE 2, also with C-type USB, and searching for some solution I have found your question. ¿Did yoy manage to find the way to fix this problem?
Regards

You probably connected your phone to the PC as Camera(PTP).
When you connect your phone to your PC, the USB symbol should appear at the top of the screen. Swipe your finger from top of the screen down you will see the USB symbol saying USB for charging. Click on it you will see the 3 connection options, pick Media device(MTP) and you should be able to copies files between your PC.
Thank you for your response, but I'm afraid that this was right, I tried it with the MTP mode enabled.
me too i have problem of copy , I can transfer files to the phone, but I can not copy from the smartphone to the pc
MTP and usb debug is actived
i cant recover my TWRP backup
With version of software do you have?
Running 21s build with Server2016 and when I tried to cut the /DCIM/Camera directory frome the LeEco it just deleted it. Ughhhh.
Did you manage to solve this?
I'm in the same situation. I can't copy mp3 files to the internal memory of the device.
Hi guys I am new here and new to this whole rooting, custom ROM thing. This all started from a need of an android device to run an app for a motorcycle efi tuner. It connects through a USB cable and allows me to change some tuning parameters in the module. I have never owned an android device, but I did own a Kindle Fire 2. After doing some research I stumbled across tutorials on how to install CM and make it an android device....and that where I am at now.
I have successfully rooted and installed CM 11-20160815-NIGHTLY-otter2, android 4.4.4, Kernal version 3.0.72+
Now the problem I am facing is the use of the usb cable to link the tablet and module. I have a USB OTG cable and after some research it looked like I needed a powered cable, so I made one of those too. I have installed Stickmount, USB OTG helper and USB OTG Checker. Running the checker I see that my device has the USB OTG API.
The interesting part now is when I connect the powered cable to the module and Kindle it will open the app automatically but it says not connected. The weird part is that it detects it enough to open up the app. Also I have not been able to mount through stickmount.
I am not a developer and not familiar with a lot of the lingo so at this point I am stuck. I don't know what else to try its over my head at this point. A google search turns up very little on this, although I have seen youtube movies of it working so I guess its possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Anybody have any ideas? I don't have enough post to put this in the kindle forums is it possible for someone to move it there?
My deepest apologies if this is the wrong forum but I am trying to find out if anyone has been able to modify these pdms as its little more than a cell phone made by a company called Nuu and its their A1+ phone.
It appears to be stripped of all apps and not sure if its possible to root it to add the other android apps back but it would be nice if I could add them back and do things like re enable the audio plug.
I just got one of these and started to investigate such an idea, which is how I found this thread.
So far I have gotten it to be accessible in Windows 10 Pro by installing the Drivers from:
https://www.helpjet.net/Fs-34429584-64578678-97773923-devices.html
It shows up under Devices and drivers as Android. Which is the Internal Storage on it.
To view the files on it , you have to copy them to another drive on your computer.
Within Device Manager Android Phone shows and within it it shows Android Composite ADB Interface so it appears the serial port to access the phone is accessible.
I installed a 32GB MicroSD and in Device Manager it shows up under Portable Devices as does Android .
In Device Manager Drives, neither the Android or 32Gb MicroSD Show up as drives.
, but Android is viewable in Explorer as a 5.24 GB Drive.
So it appears it is susceptible to hacking, just have to figure out how to do it....
It will be cool if someone can extract applications and make them work in any Android smartphone to avoid using 2 phones.
