First off, thank you for working on and sharing this Kernel.
Second, I quoted only the part that has grabbed my concern, has this been thoroughly tested?

Well the only device I have tested extensively using this method was on my Oneplus One. I used a similar method to allow the phone to accept the full charge while in OTG. That was in September of last year and OTG was used fairly often by me until a couple weeks ago. Not a thorough, engineering based method for testing yet the phone worked fine for me. They are some safe guards I'll add to the hack to make sure a powered accessory (dock) is plugged in first. I however settled on using 1500mAh at 5V which is the same rate as a standard charger for what I've researched so far. I could probably drop it to 900 or 500mAh even.
For the LG V20, I'm using a Mokin Type-C dock with charging/OTG and HDMI by the way.

Sorry for the delay. This is H918 T-Mobile. I will update the title and post. I've added some CPU overclock tables and KCAL to my branch as well but have not got around to compiling it. The charger code has also been tweaked to allow selecting the charge rate to 500, 900 or 1500mAh. I'll try to release the update tonight or tomorrow.

I have the same thing elliwigy, I'm going to give this a shot as I'm having a pretty significant problem with my kernel crashing right now. I'll update if I get this up and running.
:::EDIT:::
Flashed, appears to be working. I had to go back and do step3.bat and boot2.img flash afterwards though.
Will update if it crashes in deep sleep state which is what the stock kernel did after flashing US996 stock deODEX rom.
:::EDIT2:::
Still getting Kernel Crashes. However could have been due to a process error during root and bootloader unlock.

I can see that.
But for anyone else lurking in the thread, it helps that someone confirms that it works.
However I would note that my phone is still extraordinarily laggy, I still get vibration and red triangle message each boot.
Any thoughts bud?

Thanks bud. All I'm left with then is process error in the rooting and unlocking steps.
Dang... Gotta wait till I can flash back to stock and retry from the beginning. These kernel crashes are happening more frequently. Can't find a stock ROM for VZW.
Quick side question for anyone lurking.
I don't think Sprint roms will work for VS995 but we did get the US996 to work for VZW users. Any other ROMS compatible? Or is that trail and error also?
I appreciate your help elliwigy. And to all our awesome devs and contributers.
Just saying thanks. This seems to have fixed many of the issues with my LS997 rooted on DirtySanta.

you can use the us996 since it seems you wont be able to keep vzw firmware if it wont boot... you can redo the process but use us996 rom.. also, i dobt think we should clutter this thread with dirty santa talk.. use that thread

Yep. Me too. In fact, I would almost dare to say that my phone is running even better than it did before I rooted! There's absolutely zero lag now, everything is working (except for WiFi calling I think), it boots fast, battery life is excellent, etc.
Very very happy right now!

Guys was there a revision on this kernel? I see 0.3 now in the download and I think I flashed the original. Using VS995
Changelog?
Also, the size of 0.3 is like 1/2 of the original one? Is this correct

Yeah, I've updated the kernel with some additions and changes. Should have made an announcement post. Main changes are KCAL color control, CPU overclock frequencies (1728/2265, for little and big cores respectively) and finer control over charging current for docks. The zip is correct, yet it's still compiled for the H918 but if it works heyyy!
Do I need to flash the new one or how does this work?
Latest went smoothly on my h910

Does this kernel have f2fs support?
Also, THANK YOU! It fixed any issues with the Sprint rooted phones I had for the most part Still no FM radio support, though.

Notice: Saurom RCV users, there is a fix so that you can flash other kernels. The problem was caused by an incompatible library being flashed over Saurom's RTL modded library. In the future, my kernels will ship without modified libraries, and a cwm zip containing only the libraries will be offered (for those who need them).
For your pleasure, here is a new kernel for the ATT Galaxy Note. This kernel is forked from Da_G's Overclock kernel, so you are still getting all the features of that excellent piece of code.
For those a bit confused as to what 'Ghost thouch' is, and why it is removed:
Samsung added a bit of code to the touchscreen driver on the non-intl version of the note to detect 'ghost' touch input events, similar to the raindrop detection on the original Motorola Atrix (and others). While a nice idea on paper, this had un-intended consequences when trying to perform multi-touch input that continues longer than around 5 seconds; such as playing some games. It is now disabled in this kernel.
Edit: There also seems to be a pleasant side effect that I hadn't noticed... keyboard input is improved. Makes sense I suppose, since now there isn't this constant check for false touches slowing things down. Let me know if you see this on your device.
Please READ:
1. I have only tested this kernel on the ATT Galaxy Note running stock rom
2. This kernel has no option to turn ghost touch detection on and off (I am considering this for version 0.2)
3. I will likely not fix the issues where more than 6 fingers are not reliably detected.... why do you need that many fingers on the screen??
4. As always, you are flashing something on to your expensive phone and it very well could kill you, burn [more] holes in the ozone layer, intoxicate innocent kittens, etc. (oh, and break your phone). You always flash at your own risk.
5. The only change at the moment over Da_G's 0.2 kernel is the touchscreen stated above. As such, all the other good or bad remains the same.
Have fun, Let me know what you think.

Kallsyms version of my Kernel is now up (file ending with suffix 'k'). Please confirm that it is working for you guys that use that feature (I do not).
Per request: Version without su/busybox (and install script) is now up. Please NOTE: this kernel does not remove root, just no longer installs root.
An oversight of mine has resulted in android reporting kernel version unavailable. Apps such as cpuspy report correct kernel name/ version.

When you flashed this was it on top of a custom rom or stock? Just trying to decide if I want to flash on top of saurom.
Flashed on Saurom RC4 and it booted fine. It seems I don't have anymore keyboard problems with this kernel either. I can finally type fast again!

As stated above, I have only tested this on stock att rom. That said, as Da_G's kernel works with Saurom, I can not see how this would cause any problems.
As people confirm it works in 'X' situation, I will update the op.

Any chance of getting this with the kallsysms function that DA_G implemented in one version of his kernel 0.2? Thanks it would allow us more screen improvement with the touchscreentune app available (which works well to re-calibrate the pens offsets btw)?

To us canadian users stuck on the JB modem's.... pretty much the only problem I have noticed by installing the hybrid modem made my morislee is that the autorotation is inverted...
I was wondering if there was a way to make some other xposed module or patch of sort to invert the inversion ....
Not having autofocus while taking a video really blows ...
So if anyone got ideas... do brainstorm please...

A hybrid modem will most likely not fix the rotation issues. The issue is with the dsps.* image files in the modem. They are the firmware that is sent to the Hexagon DSP processor, and they are signed, so they most likely cannot be modified. They control sensor function, which includes both rotation and camera autofocus. A userspace patch would be needed to fix autorotation if those firmware files are used.

Stuff like this keeps schooling me every day, brain starting to hurt
That being said, I setup an Ubuntu environment earlier today, from one of the guides in chef central, using 12.04 64bit, got all the packages, but i'm terrified to sync a potential 10 gigs of stuff, what exactly should i be syncing to on github for our device, and say for illusion rom to try building from source?
and as I side project today, I nearly got a zte x500 to take a custom rom and recovery from the stock recovery, after noticing ZTE signed their packages with the test keys, just needed to figure out the mmcblk for recovery for the cricket score <edit> I know the syntax that particular updater script needs now, but dont have access to the phone til monday. the person is getting a new phone anyway but it's my pet project to flash a custom rom and recovery from the stock recovery and good practice doing updater-scripts from scratch </edit>
Been a fun day.

BETA TESTER NEEDED:
I've released this ROM on the other 3 8960 devices already and now that cm10.2 has gone into nightlies here I thought I'd bring this ROM over. Here's a preview build for those that are interested. I do not have this device to test with, however I had great success on the ville and jewel (I have the Evita) and expect nothing less here. If the feedback here is positive I'll merge this into official nightlies with the other devices.
This is built using the CM device trees so all current device specific CM issues will be issues here as well. Screen flicker and sim card warnings are the major ones I see in mdmowers thread.
full_fireball-cfxe-OPENMASTER-20131019.112802.zip - 178.63 MB
GAPPS
UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip - 1.14 MB - needed for root, rom does not give root access by default so if you want rooot flash this as well
Check out codefirex.com for more info on the ROM and the team. Basically this is the closest thign to PURE AOSP you will find anywhere, highly optimized and built with a custom built GCC-4.8.2 toolchain.
This uses the 3.4 CM kernel tweaked for gcc-4.8 builds and as such follows all the same requirements as CM-10.2. NEWEST FIRMWARE/HBOOT are required. S-on still? You will need to fastboot flash the boot.IMG after flashing the ROM.
This will be updated more in a week or so when the official builds start up.
Thanks to the CM team for all their work on this family of devices, especially mdmower for his work on fireball for all of us to enjoy.
Most of you guys here on the Incredible 4G don't know me but I've been deving for Evita for a while now, since there was no support for this ROM on any of the other devices in the 8960 family I decided to branch out with this Rom and bring it to all of them.
***I DO NOT OWN A INCREDIBLE 4G AND THEREFORE CANNOT TEST THESE MYSELF. ***
DISCLAIMER: I will not be held responsible for any damages caused to your device by flashing this ROM. Your warranty is now void.
By proceeding you accept the risks involved with flashing ROMS. While I test everything on my own device, I cannot garauntee yours will not explode into kittens and rainbows.

KNOWN ISSUES:
ROOT ACCESS : On-going disscusion within the team but as of right now root is not available to userspace. Root currently works over adb only. Flash the superSU.zip and carry on if you need root access for apps like TiBu or root file explorers. Otherwise you really don't need it
BOOT ANIMATION : i'ts just full of struggle, it's an old animation made for smaller screens. It freezes and goes blank screen on first boot. Don't be alarmed, it'll be OK. New custom boot ani is being designed now by a fellow team member
BROWSER : Ocassional FC on embedded browser streaming video. You tube and links that open a video player are fine, just embedded video.
FIREBALL SPECIFIC ISSUES:
Somebody tell me something...I need a tester for this!!!
I expect the same CM issues :
Screen flicker ( if you get this flash something else asap)
Possible Data connectivity/sim card issues
ROM is still under construction so i'm sure more will surface but this should be more than ready to be a daily driver.

Can you give some more details about what's in this rom? I went to the website but couldn't see anything besides status updates. Is it a stripped down CM?
Sure thing, its basically straight AOSP compiled with a custom 4.8.2 toolchain (compiled w/ROM for each device) and all the linaro type build flags and -03 flags. Highly optimized, slim and efficient. You won't find a lot of the mods and features all the other ROMs out there have, just what Google gave us.
You may find that doesn't fit your style and if so cool, its not for everybody. What I'm really interested in is hardware testing since I do not own this device(I have the one xl).
Is camera/WiFi/data/calls working... That kind of thing. I know this device is having some issues that the other 3 HTC 8960 devices are not on cm10.2.

Okay.. gave it a try. The rom itself seems to run really snappy and quick. My 4G took a bit to connect and never turned blue but I did have internet. Camera and all seemed to work fine. After trying a few things I realized I never installed gapps so I rebooted back to recovery and flashed them. That was as far as I got. The phone went into boot loops. Pulled the battery and wiped it clean, tried to restore my cm10.2 backup and it locked up upon rebooting itself. Pulled the battery again and attempted to get to recovery which took 3 tries. Wiped the phone again and restored one more time and cm10.2 seems to be working fine now.
Maybe it didn't take cause I flashed gapps afterwards.. I dunno. I'll try to flash both rom and gapps together when I get another chance.

Finally got somebody! Yay! Thanks for trying...to be honest this build is almost a month old now and quite a bit of the data issues I think have been resolved since then.
I can't speak to your boot looping deal, that is defiantly strange behavior. It should not matter when or if you flash gapps. At this point I'm happy to known it boots. Ive held off doing anything with this one as I haven't had anybody to test. I've got a few other things going but I'll get a more current build up in a few days.

Flashed the latest release and here's what I've got so far. The first boot took some time, as expected, and when it was done my phone was roaming so I couldn't log in. I remembered this problem with previous versions of cm so I just rebooted. 2nd boot went much quicker and my phone was now on lte. I checked all the settings for radio and the network, system and CDMA were all correct.
Upon trying to reconfigure the hardware keys it seems that they were set up for a different phone. There was home, menu and search keys listed but not back, home and recents buttons like we have. The camera and video seem to work as well as any normal cm version would. I couldn't find the swipe function for the keyboard if there is one.
The 4gLTE, WiFi and GPS all seem to work fine. I had no trouble locking into satellites or routers. Text messaging works fine also but I didn't have a chance to test calling yet. I'm working right now. I decided to install all my apps and play for awhile until TiBu told me there's no root and that's when I realized there no Superuser installed. Other than that the ROM works smooth and fast. I'll be back if I find anything else.
Su zip in op will fix root. Long argument among the team but for now this is how it is.
Keep forgetting to fix the overlay for that hw key. "Menu key " is our "app switch key". I had to hack it to get the buttons I wanted before we added hw key remapping and forgot to remove the hack.
Thanks again for testing it out.

FYI I fixed those hw keys locally for the next round. Let me know how it goes after a bit and if its solid I'll merge it it for nightlies with the rest of the 8960 family

The zip you provided worked great. Restored all my apps no problem. Came across a bug though. Tried to play Apollo but got no sound. The app seemed to be working fine, just no sound. So I tried Pandora and the sound came on but for only one song then went out again. I was using my headphones. I've used BT for calls and that works fine but I haven't tried streaming audio to my car yet to see if that works.

Been running this for a couple of days now and it seems to work very well. The only requests that I could think of would be swipe for the keyboard and the option to have the volume keys control fast forward/rewind for the music player but other than that this rom seems pretty solid right now. Great work guys and thanks again!
I'll be heading to France in a couple of days and plan on buying a Sim card when I get there for the local network so I'll let you know how it works when I get back.

Hello all, I am looking for a way to enable all cores on the Honor 5x. If you use Kernel Adiutor (and I'm sure you do) you'll notice that 99% of the time (save for a reboot) your little cluster is offline when using any AOSP ROM, now the only way I've found to enable them is to edit the value in the active file located in /sys/module/cluster_plug directory. The issue with this method is that it just enables them, 95% of the workload is still handled by the big cluster, even when it's straining itself the little cluster fails to pick up any of the workload. I have done clean installs of the Blaze kernel and the issue is still not resolved. Any incite into this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You'll need to mess with:
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/core_ctl/min_cpus
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/core_ctl/max_cpus
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu4/core_ctl/min_cpus
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu4/core_ctl/max_cpus
It takes integer value ranging from 0-4. 0-4 meaning how many cores you want online per cluster.
The only issue is that I don't have /core_ctl directory that you've specified, I don't recall ever having it on this ROM, though I could be wrong. I'm using the krexus ROM in case I hadn't specified before.
I know, reading the stock ROM forums I got very excited to see the before mentioned information that was posted only to see that said (/core_ctl) directory was missing from any AOSP ROM I had used. This is the one thing that is holding me up from giving up my Windows phone as my business phone (the lag as a result of only being able to use 4 cores is intolerable in my line of work) even giving a link to what all these directory files mean would be very helpful. Thanks.
You could google what those directory means and that would give you that answer.
I have done this (and I consider myself well versed in the ways of the interwebs and I rarely come up with anything useful but I've been working on a solution for my original question and feel I am close to achieving it. I will post once I do.....though if anyone has ANY suggestions at all I'm open to try, all of my discoveries have been made through trial and error.

I can't recall if I mentioned it or not but I'm using the blaze kernel at the moment (as far as I know it's the only custom one available for this phone?) Also the CPU control I desire is available inside the stock KIWI ROM, just wish I knew of a way to "port" that hotplug to a AOSP ROM.... thinking SELinux policy is prohibiting me from achieving the CPU control I'm after, but not sure if it's the only thing at play when it comes to this issue.

It's a messaging app. Just like Whatsapp, but with some diferences. You can check it in the Play Store. Telegram group link is in the Blaze kernel thread.
Wow thank you, I dirty flashed it (since version 2 dirty flashed fine) and didn't have pleasing results, going to do a clean flash AOSP, but those hotplug features are exactly what our phones need! Who's ready to hunt down some flagships?

Don't bother with blaze kernel. It's heavily flawed. As soon as you turn on hotplugging phone will crash and you have to reboot. Unfortunately development seems to be halted.

I currently have blaze kernel installed and using the method I've mentioned before am able to enable all cores, but with very poor load balancing, and the beta version is far from RTM at the moment so guess I'm stuck with version 2 for the time being.

I have noticed this as well, which is unfortunate because the dev seems like a very talented coder who is quite capable of the task at hand, sometimes life gets in the way of the things we would like to do so I'm just going to be patient and hope he picks back up on the project.

It's been that story for many developers man. A great project paused because life hit hard again. I believe he'll come back to it soon.

I had thought of doing this, though I don't see any cm 12.1 links in the Honor 5x thread, just 13, (though I'm at work at the moment and have to be stealthy about my research...errgghh Damn kids and their Snapchat) and I have to admit I've kind of fallen in love with the Krexus ROM and am apprehensive to flash another. Just need that hotplug support (and OTA updates would be nice as well
I know there's a whole thread dedicated to working modules but I wanted to start one for this phone, basically just what works what doesnt, I'm running
AD Blocker Reborn
Amplify
Greenify
Flat Style Keyboard
And Xmessenger
They all work perfect if anybody is running anything else that works feel free to let everybody know
I should say I'm not as well versed in Xposed as some people, I started using it in Kit Kat maybe maybe lollipop not sure but I'll try my best to answer any questions that get asked
Did you get the autotint feature to work with the flat style keyboard?

Edit: I just installed 3.7.1 and it detects Xposed and works great

Released officially for Nougat a few days ago, I'm on WETA Rom and everything is pretty smooth, I made this thread so people can post what works and what doesn't specifically for this phone, there is an ongoing thread for all working modules on nougat but that includes AOSP ROMs and not all of us are running AOSP, also haven't run into any major issues boot times are a little bit longer but I haven't noticed a decrease in battery life or performance
Guys, do you xposed might work on Tilde's ROM?

If it's a stock based Rom I can't see why it wouldn't work, same goes for an AOSP Rom, as always make a Nandroid backup in TWRP before flashing just in case it doesn't work

I went to WETA for customization and the aroma installer had a bunch of stuff I could choose from, rooting in general it's just something I've been doing since my first Android phone, I'm amazed at what I can do with basically complete control, as I say to my friends that don't know what root is, if I want to do something I more than likely can, music didn't sound good enough to me so I installed viper4android music sounds amazing and I couldn't go back to stock, I wanted my battery to last longer so I installed greenify to force doze when I turn my screen off so I can get iPhone levels of standby drain, also it's just something fun to do there's always new stuff going on, Xposed just got released officially a few days ago and I honestly can't wait to see what comes of it.

Yeah i had started with the VS995 Verizon variant when I first went to the V20.. but after we switched to MetroPCS (via TMobile service).. I noticed that without all of the GSM bands.. my connection was HORRIBLE.. plus I did not have the WIFI calling / SMS features... so I switched to the H918 variant... SO Glad I did.. love the knowledge I could unlock my bootloader.. and it seems to have some of the default features that Verizon had locked out... IE FM Radio.. etc..
right now i'm on the 10q software.. so not sure if i'm locked out of anything or if thats still able to root / unlock and flash safely.
