Very impressed, better than all 2015 Galaxy phones but together

For some reason, my mate 9 sucks in WiFi. it did from 30Mbps to 65Mbps max.
Tested on Asus RT-88U and RT-68U router with a 1Gbps and a 300Mbps fibre broadband.
To be sure it wasn't my ISP/RSP causing the problem, speedtest on PC is at max speed of ~900Mbps/~475Mbps up/down.
and again, to be sure it wasn't the WiFi signal, my other phones, HTC 10 did ~400Mbps down, even the old HTC Butterfly/DNA did >65Mbps constantly, where as the mate 9 fluctuate from 30Mbps~65Mbps.
Something must be wrong in Huawei software to cause a device equip with 11ac to be slower than 4 years old phone with only 11n.
i'm totally impressed by mate 9 wifi, i have everywhere in my house good and fast wifi signal, even in the kitchen and basement.
with all my old phones (allview x2 xtreme, oneplus one, lumia 630, xperia z1) i have only 0/4 bars wifi in the kitchen and i can't even send text messages over wifi. with the mate 9 i have 2/4 bars and i can even watch youtube videos on the same place.
No issues here. Its very good.
Extremely good, both with WiFi and Bluetooth. Far better than my LG G4 and GF's Galaxy 7.
I have exactly the same problem as limcc.
Upload speed is ok but down load 30 Mbps max. My other phones download with over 100Mbps.
If someone has a solution I would be reall grateful.

Same problem with mine...I may be sending this phone back to Amazon. I've had a few slow downs also that I never have with my OnePlus 3T.
Edit...I did nothing to try and fix the wifi speed, and now it's working better. I may keep this phone after all. I'll give it a few days at least.
This test was done after several tests that reached only 30-35Mbps.
I locked the screen, put the phone down for a couple of minutes and ran the test again. I don't know what's going on with this device
I have a problem too!! No more of 30-60 megas, with another phones let 300......
Any ideas??
Asus's problem or Huawei's problem?
Regards
Have you all tried changing the WiFi channel? My Mate 9 was running fine on 5GHz 128 under B126 but struggled after upgrading to B136. I switched to channel 36 and it's all good now.

You change channels in your wifi router.
I've disabled 2.4GHz at home as it's badly congested, all my neighbors seem to be using it whereas no one seems to be using the 5.0GHz spectrum. Do note that if you keep both enabled your phone will tend to connect to 2.4 as it typically has a longer range than 5.0.
Keeping it WPA2 only (disable WEP and WPA), setting the encryption to AES only (disable TKIP), and n/ac only (disable g) will also increase throughtput.

I used it when on holiday with a lot of wifi-hotspots.
The WIFI is incredible. Where the iPhone 7 plus from my girlfriend couldn't even see the WIFI hotspots, i could see and connect just fine.
That's pretty impressive
My master bathroom is a pretty much wifi deadspot in my house for my V10.. it's REALLY tragic. I got the Mate 9 yesterday and it gets .11AC in the bathroom! I'm amazed at it's reception. Man, I made a good choice.
This issue is happening other Huawei phones, such as honor 8 or P9 which support 11ac.
I believe it's a bug.
This happens when you are using wifi with channnel Bandwidth of 80Mhz or 160Mhz.
So the only workaround at this time is to change the router setting to 20Mhz or 40Mhz.
hi have the mate 9 pro and wifi problems with the speed... hava a 250Mbps broadband and full signal standing near the modem and in phone wifi settings it says the connection speed is 433Mbps and bougt a cheaper lenovo p2 and it has the same 433Mbps connection. but the mate 9 stuggles with only 130Mbps and jumps up and down every time i do speed test.. same speed test on the lenovo p2 and i getting the full speed 250Mbps every metering without any struggels att all it goes to max speed in a second i every test.. really annoning bug in the huawei and still now release for the wifi? someone most have the solution. mate 9 can get full speed stable also its just something thats stops it from doing so, tried wiped cache and tried factoeyreset.. same shi*.. just because of this little bug im thinking of selling my mate 9 pro and stay with lenono p2 but love the mate in all other ways... and huawei doesnt seem to care and thats worries me the phone have been out for a time now and still no wifi update... mayby there is a workaround? im trying everingrhing likes changing channels on router and changed to static but same shi*... even tried another router.... but i got a feeling there is a way to fix this... wtf this not i cheap phone and still cheap phones outpreform the mate 9 in wifi speed thats not right! so please anyone come with an solution to the instable and slow wifi on mate 9. kind regard G ?

I bought a Huawei Mediapad X1 recently, (model 7D-501U) so here are my thoughts after a few days in comparison to my Mega 6.3.
1) While the Mega's size is just the right side of the Too Big line for use as a phone, the X1 is just the wrong side. It's too wide to comfortably hold securely in one hand, and it's too big to comfortably fit in my pockets.
2) While having a bigger screen is always good, it's 1920 x 1200 resolution doesn't make high resolution photos or full HD videos any sharper to my eyes than on the Mega's 1280 x 720 screen.
3) The camera on the Mega takes significantly better photos than the X1 despite being a lower resolution (8MP vs 13MP). Photos on the X1 are dark and under-exposed. Using HDR mode helps in some situations, and adjusting exposure and brightness helps in others, but on the Mega you can just snap away in Auto and know that it's going to give a better result first time, every time.
4) The GPS on the X1 can see the same number of satellites as the Mega, but can't use as many of them. It's still useable, but the Mega consistently uses twice as many satellites for significantly better accuracy, (e.g. 10 feet vs 30 feet, or 30 feet vs 70 feet etc)
5) The X1 doesn't have MHL or Miracast for mirroring the screen to your TV. It should work with Chromecast though and I believe you can mirror your screen to Huawei's own MediaQ device, but that's another £100.
6) I find the button placement on the X1 more awkward, with both volume and power buttons on the right hand side. The layout on the Mega works better for me.
7) The X1 has significantly better battery life than the Mega
8) The X1 has a slightly better CPU and graphics than the Mega, which does make a difference in games like Real Racing 3.
9) Although the X1 says it can only use SD cards up to 32GB, it works fine with a 64GB card once you reformat it in the device, so there's no difference there.
So in summary, for me the size, poor camera and weaker GPS rule out the X1 as a replacement for my Mega. It still makes a good 7" tablet though, since the camera and GPS are not important for me in a tablet. I'll keep it for now but it won't replace my Mega, which is still a great device that can do anything.
If you have any questions about the X1, let me know and I'll do my best to answer.
Correction to the above - I believe the X1 does have Miracast, but I couldn't get it to work with Samsung's dongle.
Thanks for your comparison. I tried to grab the version 7d-501l as I read a page saying it's the LTE version and the 501u is 3G version but I couldn't locate a local vender that carry 501l. Can you please confirm if your is 3G version?
Sounds similar to my experience with the Huawei Ascend Mate. Great battery life, nice screen but terrible GPS and camera. Still loving my Mega after 6 months, haven't seen a phone yet that I would prefer. Maybe if they release a 7 inch Mega...

That's correct. 7D-501L is LTE and 7D-501U is UMTS, i.e. 3G. There's also a 7D-503L model that's also LTE, but I'm not sure what the difference is between the 501L and 503L. I suspect it's just a difference between the LTE bands that are covered, but I'm not sure which one covers which LTE bands.
Reason why Mega gets better location lock is because it has GPS and GLONASS

You'll find 3 photos in this folder. One taken with the Mega, default options, full resolution (8 mega pixels). One taken with the X1, default options, 13MP, and one taken with the X1, with exposure, brightness and saturation each adjusted up by 1. I hope that gives you a useful comparison.
I've decided that even though the default settings give rather poor results, with the settings tweaked the X1 does actually take pretty decent photos.

Yes, I'm sure you're correct. I thought it wouldn't be able to see the GLONASS satellites, but I guess it can see them, just not use them.
However after more experimentation, even without GLONASS the GPS accuracy on the X1 is still pretty good (20 feet or better), as long as you've got a good view of the sky.
As you'll see from the above two posts, I've changed my view on the camera and GPS on the X1 - they're both better than I thought, even if I still think the Mega has the edge in both departments. I'm also getting more used to the idea of using it as a phone despite the size although I'm still not keen on the button placement which forces me to hold it lower down the phone than I'd like. So for now I've swapped my SIM cards round and we'll see how I get on with it as my main device.
Also I've ordered a Miracast dongle, so I'll report back to let you know if it works with that.

I can confirm it does support Miracast, although I needed to install WiFi Display Helper to get it to work, since the setting for wireless display mirroring is hidden for some reason. Still doesn't work with the Samsung dongle though.
I'm seriously considering the X1 am I taking too much of a risk on being disappointed? My main worries are they don't have an app drawer in their stock modded os if I added a launcher would I get that functionality back? Does 4G work? (I'm assuming it will work on Straight Talk) Is the battery removable? Thanks for the help.

Lack of an app drawer is no problem - a launcher will indeed give you that.
The battery is non-removable, but the battery life is superb.
I've got the 3G version so I can't help you with your 4G question.

Bluetooth is fine. It occasionally disconnects and reconnects with my Sony Smartwatch 2, but then the Mega did the same, so I suspect that's the watch rather than the phone. Also my wife's car won't connect to the X1 for some reason, but it works flawlessly with my own car, bluetooth speakers and everything else I've tried.

United States will not be able to us LTE with this phone. With Straight Talk AT&T sim u will get HSPA+ which is marketed as 4G in the US... But it is really known as 3G worldwide. If you have straight talk with Tmo sim...u will be able to use HSPA+ in areas where they refarmed their towers to 1900mhz....unless straight talk has a roaming agreement...which I'm not sure if they do or not.
I have the 503L and using it with ST. Replaced cracked international Note 2 (which has no LTE).. But im happy with HSPA speeds.

Huawei seem to have implemented a car Bluetooth blacklist of some sorts to prevent automatic pairing in cars... Dont know why.
If you are rooted...you may want to edit the file to see if it will connect to your wife's car. Use a file exporer program goto \system \etc \bluetooth... Open file " auto_pair_devlist.conf " ... Remove or comment out # the blacklisted address line.

I got mine through Ebay 2nd hand from someone else in the UK, so I doubt if that helps you much.
I have to buy this phone and I am on a tight budget. Recently there was an offer on flipkart so I decided to go for it and accidentally I went into comment section which was filled with negative review.
My question is:
1) Finger print scanner working good? Even if it takes like 2-3 sec to recognise it's good for me. There many people wrote that it completely stopped working
2) how is the battery life with constant data usage ?
I would really appreciate if you can clear my doubts.
Thanks in advance!
Fingerprint is quite good with 16s August update. It is acceptable now.
Battery life is not so good. But it will last you for a whole day if you use it moderately. (I am sure you won't use it moderately when the phone is new.)
I would rather wait for Google device or go for One Plus 3 as it is slightly better in most respects and has excellent 3rd party ROM support from XDA community.

Are you it is'nt the VoLTE HD call setting in Dual Sim & Mobile networks? I had the problem with all my calls disconnect, the issue with that VoLTE HD call is set from factory is that far from all carriers support VoLTE.
Would that be? Cause some parts seems to work just fine... Is this region bound maybe?
But if I force only 2g or 3g instead of 4g, the issue still occur, wouldn't volte automatic should disable?

This phone is a beast, the hardware versus price point is quite competitive. The fingerprint scanner is working fine with the update...though it still misses it maybe 2 times out of ten, meaning i give the fingerprint scanner an 8/10. Battery life is average, for a non-gaming user you can do just about a day. but for a serious gamer and 4G user, about 3/4 of the day or less. the battery for me would be 5/10.
Then there is the issue with the camera. The camera app is crap. it struggles to maintain focus and in video mode during recording it can not auto focus. Using 3rd party apps helps but I feel a firmware update should be made available to address this issue at the core. I would give the camera performance a 6/10.

Shut up, for this money you can't do better. And a big portion of all the negative reviews when the phone came to the market were employees from firms like Xiaomi, Meizu etc. That's how Chinese firms do business, they have no code of conduct.
Fingerprint scanner has its quirks but nothing off-putting at all. It should be better from what I read above in more recent ROMs. Battery honestly is amazing. I can lay this phone down at night and get up the next day and it only has lost a couple of percents. A great step up from my Note 3.

I have the same problem, can't receive calls and can't dial out. When you go to settings -> mobile settings(donno exactly, but you'll find it) just where u see ur sim(s) etc.), you can't change settings when u get called (just call urself and try it out), so the phone DOES receive something. I'm gonna try installing another ROM to see if it fixes the problem, should i update you? Or did you already fix it? Thanks.

Flash cm13 or modify stock rom will solve the problem, God luck!
Hi I have it,
Fingerprint works in 8/10 times, that's not fast 1sc I would say and if he stops working you must do the calibration and it will work again.
Battery, well 5.7 QHD , 3100mah there isn't no magic, I would say 3,5 sot.

Good Morning Everyone,
Have been researching this tablet and wanted to find out if its worth it. Been reading the forum and it looks like this tab has some serious WiFi bugs and battery drain. I Have a galaxy note pro 12.2 now and its been great but is showing its age. Wanted to upgrade to the tab s3 for the spen as i really like it but i see many complaining about the s3 here on the forum. Doesn't look like Samsung is going to issue a fix for the battery drain issue. So wanted to get you guys advice who have the device. Get a Tab S2 that's getting quite a bit older now or the s3. Let me know. Thanks.
I got the tab s3 for school for taking notes, and I really like it. The wifi bug is annoying but you can turn off wifi and then the standby time is fantastic. I can get 8 to 10 hours of on screen time which is nice.

I’m hesitant due to the fact that if Wi-Fi is off during sleep I’m assuming notifications and such will not come down until you wake of the device? This seems to me like I’m limiting the use of the device for the sake of the battery life. With your Wi-Fi always on are you able to get through the day or what kind of usage do you see?
I could get through the day, overnight it would lose around 20 percent overnight maybe 30

Bug and stability fixes. My battery life has improved and it's not draining like in the past. Also, Netflix HDR support was added.
I tested out the LTE version SM-T825 of this tablet as someone said that this version doesn't have the wifi bug but that is not the case, it still has the very same drain issue. I did notice, however, that the drain issue went away when I was at a friend's place using an old integrated comcast router/modem, but that brings little comfort since it seems that most common routers do cause the drain on this tablet. And again in my home with the 2X WRT1900AC, my old Tab S2, S7 and current S8+ had no issues with wifi power drain so this is definitely something in the Tab S3 that causes the issue with most modern routers (tried just the 2.4 Ghz channel, an ASUS 68U and N11, an older netgear and the drain was still present).

What's the build date on your tablet? I wonder if Samsung made some hardware revisions and some users have the drain and some do not.

Nope, the LTE one was a korea model from July and it still had it.
I always keep Wi-Fi off with the screen off. I can sometimes go two days without touching my device. So keeping Wi-Fi off is important. I use my device to take notes and chat and listen to music. Very good tablet.

I been a big S-Pen fan since I got my 2012 model Note 10.1. Don't want a phone or tablet without an active stylus.

Thanks.

Personally, I think the 2015 (2016?) Tab A with Spen is a better deal than the s3. If you can live with a tablet that only has 16gb of storage. I'm not sure what the wifi bug is, but the most recent patch removed my biggest annoyance: "Samsung keyboard has stopped" messages when the keyboard wasn't active and the screen was rotated by an app. (intermittent, but frequent).
I also found a 10.1 tablet to be just a little too large for daily use.
Would I buy this tablet again? Sure, I like it a lot. Would I look closely at other options? Definitely. Windows tablets with pen support are pretty close to this thing's price. And MS Office's pen support it pretty useful, and cross platform.

See I was between this and the ,Microsoft surface 3. I decided to get the tab s3 because it's newer and can fast charge. The surface 3 charges so slowly due to being a micro USB charger. But honestly this is a great tablet. And really good battery life. My surface pro 4, which is a full windows tablet, can barely get 5 hours of usage. I'm 35 hours in now on a single charge with 2 hours of sot and 78% left.

I just got my s3, I wouldn't pay $600 for it, but I got mine open box in perfect condition from Best Buy for only $380. Definitely worth it at that price.
Finally made the plunge and got one for £450 with a second pen.
I got mine a while ago for $449 and the keyboard case for $60. It's got a bit of lag when playing some games, but for me the pen is worth it. I have it set to turn off wifi when the tablet goes to sleep, and the standby time is really nice. I'm down to 40% battery with 6hrs on screen time and 18hrs off charger. The iPad pro looks very intriguing, but I'm not a fan of having to leave Bluetooth on and charging the Apple Pencil.

So did the latest update fix The wifi bug or not ?
Heys guys,
I bought this phone some days ago and I'm still waiting for it. In the meantime, I've been searching and I did find almost no forums or threads regarding it. Of course it's not the best smartphone out there but still looks something crazy for as less as 150€.
What do you guys think?
Any customs ROM's outhere? They say in the website that Ulefone Power 3S comes with Oreo but it's not true. At least, for now.
The phone is amazing. But I'm bothered by device encryption. Can not be turned off.

Is that the reason why there are no customs ROMs?
I'm still waiting for mine to arrive from banggood. There are little reviews on this phone and I'm afraid that I didn't choose the correct phone (I own an Redmi Pro), if you know what I mean.
So I got my hands on this device last Thursday. So far, I'm pretty happy about it but there are a few things that are annoying me:
- My phone is connected to my 5Ghz wi-fi and my bandwith is 200Mbps up&down. On my Ulefone, I can't get more that 60 down and 80 up. Any ideias why? I have my router near my room and so it's not that far. The link speed on the wi-fi settings shows speeds of 135Mb. I tried to switch channels and frequency on my router and still nothing.
I've tried speedtest on my Leeco several times, next to my Ulefone, and the speeds are close to 200Mbps.
- There is no option to turn off quick charging.
- I noticed a litlle bit of lag on some apps but nothing special;
- Secondary cameras look fake. I mean, I've tried and put my finger in front of them and nothings happens. Maybe with the release of Oreo will they work? Hum, don't know...
- So far there are almost no supports forums or custom rom's or whatever but its a new phone.
On the other hand, battery life is amazing so far. Almost 2 days and frequently using apps like youtube, twitch, facebook, maps, etc... I like it.
Altought it's kinda fat, it suits your hand nicely.
The screen bright and colors are amazing...
But I don't know if I bought the wrong phone... I had a Xiaomi Redmi Pro before and I was about to buy Redmi 5 Plus for almost the same price of the Ulefone. (+/- 150€) but... I don't know. I wanted to try something different.
Hope I don't regret it in the future.

Hey. Got the phone on last friday. There are few minor downsides, but for cheap chinese phone, these are fair.
The LCD is bright and has nice colors, doesn´t lag/stutter much, is compact and sleek, and the battery life is very good. Tortured it with 18:30 ScreenOnTime with mixed usage (Browsing, time measurement, MP3 playing, Youtube vids playing, GPS and more) Wifi most of the time ON, brightness between 20% and 80%, I´d say medium brightness was 33-40% during the test period. If I really tried to squeeze longer time from it, saving power, it would do over 20h. Not bad. Camera seems to do better job when set at native resolution, and is medicore these days. But focusing is quite good and fast. I´m happy for what I got for the price. I only became gradually more and more power hungry, and I would like to see more. Hope you enjoy yours.
//Just measured Geekbencg battery score (3 hours test) at 7469 points. Killer score for what it is. I might do the full test soon. Doesn´t want to upload though.

Did you tested your WiFi speeds?
I guess the WiFi range of the phone is not the best too. I got better WiFi reception when connected to my 2,4Ghz network than my 5Ghz and the router is the same.
Happens as well cellular data is turned off when I receive or make a call. I guess it is not normal, is it?
There are a few things that I hope they will fix with the release of Oreo. God knows when they will release it...

I didn´t, as all I need is that it works. If you want me to test it, sure, I will. How can I do that? I´m also not sure about data when I receive a call. Will give it a try too.

Pretty simple. Connect your phone to a 5Ghz Wifi network (if you have one), download "speedtest" app from Play Store and then click "Test".
To see the link speed from your phone to your wifi, just go wifi settings, press on top of the network you're connect to and it will show some info including "link speed".

Thanks. I´ll see if I can get to the 5GHz Wi-Fi somewhere. In the meantime I tested this "data drop-out" while GSM call occurs, and it happens to me too.
I wonder if we ever get the Oreo update, and now I´m fingting with thoughts about upgrading to Power 5 model...

I own a Leeco le Pro 3 as my main phone and the Power 3S as a secondary one.
I already bought the Ulefone with that idea in mind. Apart from the battery and the good quality of the screen, it does not stand out especially in anything. In particular, the overall performance is only medium, I expected something better even for a phone of its price.
Another negative aspect is the lack of devs interested in building custom ROMs for this device (not only for its limited market success but mainly for the lack of support from the manufacturer, a problem when you buy a quite exotic brand like Ulefone)
Speaking about WiFi, the reason for buying my Leeco Le Pro 3 was precisely the high quality of the WiFi. I read it in a specialized review. Normally, the reviews are limited to saying that your mobile is compatible with WiFi ac and don't bother making real tests. That's why it struck me that the reviewer insisted so much on the quality of the Leeco WiFi. It turned out to be true. It is possible to get the maximum speed of your connection at 15 meters from the router.
As for the Power 3s, with a connection of 300 Mbs at home I rarely approach 160Mbs. And I usually have speeds of 100-120Mbs (while with the Leeco I even exceed the 300Mbs).
But do not torture yourself thinking that only happens with the Power 3S. I already had a similar poor WiFi experience with brands like Vernee (Mars Pro) and Xiaomi (Redmi note 3 Pro)
I do not know the reason and raising the question in any forum (as I did naively) is useless. What people will tell you is that it depends on the saturation of the channels in the 5Ghz band in your area and ask you to switch channels (as if the WiFi congestion only affected the Power 3S but not the Le Pro 3).
In my opinion, it must be a simple matter of quality of the WiFi circuitry (my Leeco has several WiFi antennas instead of one). Saying that you have WiFi ac phone means apparently nothing given the differences in speed between devices in the same environment and under the same circumstances.
Greetings from Madrid and sorry for any English mistake

Well, so far and after a few days of use, I'm pretty content with what I bought. We have to keep in mind that it's a phone with a cost of +- 140€ and, for this value, I think it's pretty good. The battery lasts 2,5 days using twitch, facebook, etc so it's really good. Cameras are ok (i've seen better, i've seen worse) but overall they are good.
Concerning wifi, well... you are right. No need to have 5Ghz if speeds are approximately the same as 2,4Ghz.
The only thing I'm sad it's, as you say, the lack of customs ROM's so far. And from what i can tell, there will be no customs roms in the near future. Maybe with the release of oreo?! But then again, only god knows when ulefone will release it.
Good news on the way.

Do you know if there is a way to get TWRP on Power 5?
Good day to you all
Does anybody have bought replaced battery for Power 3s?
Mine will be dead soon as it does not charge from time to time.
If someone have a replacement experience with this thing, it will really help me if you can share it.
Waiting patiently !
