I did an Android 7.0 update last night. Prior to that, the battery life was great, and the phone almost never got warm. Now it's getting quite warm, and the battery life doesn't seem as good. Any ideas?
I second that. I'm getting pretty poor battery life.

Just like when the G3 went from 4.4.2-> 5.0, the G5 probably suffers a similar fate with 7.0. Ultimately it's the dead-end this device is doomed to suffer just in time for the G6 to launch in the next few months; only to repeat this terrible cycle when Android 8.0 is pushed out next winter...
So how do I revert back to 6.01? I found the kdz file, but I don't seem to be able to download it.
Two 4G symbols and images "Burn" into screen (disappears after 5 mins of screen off)
Yesterday (Friday 2nd December 2016) my LG G5 updated from Android 6.0.1 to Android 7.0, at first I didn't notice anything because my mobile data speed is 50mbps where as my wifi is less than 10mbps so I downloaded Android N update using 4G. However when I went to turn off the mobile data and turn on wifi I noticed I had two 4G symbols showing right next to each other, one says 4G+ with an up and down arrow and then next to it I have 4G with the ascending bars. Now when I turn wifi on and mobile data off only the 4G+ symbol disappears but the 4G with the 4 ascending bars stays around. It's only a very minor issue but it's really annoying seeing two of the same symbols especially when I'm very minimalistic when it comes to how my phone looks. Some info is listed below in case you need it.
Build Number: NRD90U
Software Version: V20a-TWN-XX
Android Version: 7.0
Baseband Version: 3.18.31
Model Number: LG-H860
If i can help you

for me all went fine my battery life improved by 30 mins sot and i have no heating issues.
Although i have to admit that mm felt a bit more smooth but i guess it will be fixed on the next updates, beside that all is fine.
yes it is getting heat while calling vedeo call. my phone is sea region
My is working perfect with Nougat even battery life improved and no heat problem.
Well, I'm pleased to report that the problem has apparently been solved. I found a post that recommended disabling automatic system updates and wifi roaming scans in developer options. I unplugged the phone over 2 1/2 hours ago, and it's still at 100%.

The reason why you are having two 4G icons showing on your device is because the one on top of the signal bar only indicates you are in a 4G network and the other one is an indicator that you are downloading or using the data with a 4G Speed.
Heating problem at first but as days go by heat is no more. . Nougat HK version here. Still waiting for ESA version. Battery consumption improved too.
I'm also having heating, battery draining, slow down and slow charging issues since the update.
Any links to some possible fixes?
Thx
Turned the phone on this morning and now the battery life is shot to hell again. What is going on with this nonsense?

I don't think that's what it is.
Just installed. I like it, its smooth, fast, I like the themes and we got native 60fps video recording. My phones gets warmer than usual and battery life (so far!) nit great but it could be some OS optimizations going on in the background. I'll give it few days, see if it gets better.
Edit: it seems that google photos might be causing the heat. It syncs all of my photos (not uploading, just to be able to see what is on the cloud) and it takes a long time! Wakelock detector shows it already used 10 minutes of cpu tine which is a lot! With that in mind, this process is done just once so..shouldn't be an issue later.
Install any cpu monitoring app to find the culprit or factory reset it. I updated it and it's been great so far, much smoother than before and no problems yet. And for the 4G icon as someone already said, the one next to your cel signal bars are for the network you're connected with, when you turn mobile data on there will appear another icon.

Hello to everyone
I have some issue with battery, camera, ram memory after update to android 5.0.2.
First the battery, my screen light is 40% all the time, i use viber, whatsapp, messenger and chrome about 2h a day. Before the update, my battery life could stand approximately 2 days without charging now is about 4-6 hours a day, Does any of you have the same problem?
Secondly camera, when i shoot a picture from a distance of two meters I realized that the image is blurry in low light, but when i take a picture with flash, phone can't focus the object, in daylight the picture is pretty ok.
And third RAM, after closing down an app, and again open that app i realize that phone force stop that app, but after closing a chrome browser my screen freeze for two seconds..
I lost some Features, smart pause, widget on lock screen, plug and pop, LG Software when plug usb to pc, lost two or three options in connecting method?
I apologise for my bad english.
Thank you in advance

It's official version for east europe.
OTA.
I used 5.0.2 from first release and I can tell you the truth. It just sucks. LG probably released this update without fixing bugs to make people angry... They did it intentionally to tell us "Sorry, but your phones are aging. They can't handle it better" and forcing us to buy new smartphone. Sad, but It's true. On Lollipop I saw they fixed some things that was broken in Kitkat like GPS, blinking screen on low brightness (in my opinion they just increased minimal screen light equivalent to 10% on kitkat but I can be wrong) and some others. Battery life is worse and RAM management is terrible. I tried to make swap partition or test some settings on Low Memory Killer but without success. Phone started lagging and freezing from sometimes to often. 2 days ago I returned to kitkat and I am on ART. It's faster and more stable. I recommend you to flash good old 4.4.2 too
Some people will probably tell, that fresh rom is always faster. It's truth, but my uncle have D620R too. He's using stock and updated Kitkat on dalvik without root. When I get his g2m in my hand I just noticed that Kitkat is much better compared to my slow Lollipop

Here's what I have noticed:
The image quality from camera is the same, gps is still bad (still tells location inaccurately), speed is the same as it was in kitkat, and I believe battery is almost the same as it was in Kitkat. There are also some added and removed features and added lollipop animations

After checking out for a few more days, I can definitely confirm that the battery is a bit worse that it was in Kitkat. A few days ago, after I woke up in the morning the battery went from 24% to 14% (It went down by 10% just being on standby). Plus, I tried charging the phone overnight but to my surprise the phone is not event fully charged yet? I slept at 10:30pm and I woke at 4am, I checked the phone it's still charging at 98%...
Anyone know's how to fix this? I'm getting terrible battery life and one reason I bought the G2 mini over others is it's battery life...
According to the official website, the 23A update provides Wi-Fi Calling performance improvements and a clarification to the USB connection pop-up when the device is charging.
The following things are noticed when you look at the update:
- There is no change to the android version, which is still android 6.0
- Security patch level is dated @ June 1st
- If you plug in your phone to USB (like your computer), it doesn't say "Charging Only" anymore, it says just "Charging"
- If you go to location preferences, the E911 only fib telling you that your location is always available in emergencies is no longer there.
The following issues have NOT been fixed and are still in effect:
- Messaging apps like Google Hangouts do not send or receive multimedia messages. To solve this you must use the default stock LG messaging app. Verizon and other carriers have this bug still, so we don't see it getting fixed anytime soon.
- Sometimes, the V10 doesn't receive phone calls. The only way to fix this is to restart the phone. Still no word on if this is going to be fixed either.
- Some people have had their 4G signal drop or turn into 3G signal. This is also an issue not just involving Verizon. We still don't know how this is happening and we are still looking for answers.
Anything that I am missing please tell me

I've not had a chance to check yet but one of the best features of the V10 was the BT performance for audio. This was broken after the v6 (Marshmellow) upgrade. Audio over BT was noisy, staticy.
Has anyone checked to see if this was fixed?
I do not, nor ever had, any of the issues that you say weren't fixed in this update.
I run BT to my car stereo every day.... never had static or noise.
I did, however, use to get a Toast that said "Check your connection and try again." From an unknown source... now I don't get it.
Sometimes my BT skips out for a second. I have difficulty staying connected to the WiFi at work. O tried Tile and TrakR to keep track of my keys that I lose frequently but the BLE doesn't stay connected. Confirmed fixes in 6.0.1. Do we have it? No. I'm thinking that I'll never buy an LG phone again. Verizon says LG has to make the update and LG says it's Verizon that has to do it.

Ever since the update, my CPU has been running non-stop and burning through my battery, even plugged in. *edit* like 3 hour battery life, after a full charge over night and a full charge of the spare battery over night, and i switch the battery and it too only lasts ~ 3 hours, with very little use.
The battery info in settings doesn't tell me anything either, its not one app running down the battery.
Anyone else ever see this after an update?
is the best solution to do a full system restore?
Sometimes, when I use the quick charger in the middle of the day I experience faster than normal battery drain. Pull the batter and wait 2 minutes then replace.
What we need is 6.0.1!!!!

So I got the LG G5 last month on the 16th March. So far the performace is really good, But there are a few irritating problems with the phone. Why is that the LG G5 Battery dies so quick? Literally I charge it over night and it reaches to a good 100% but then within like an hour or 2 it goes down to like 80 or 70 PER CENT Within those hours?! I've tried multiple apps like greenify, Juicedefender and the system battery saver NONE OF THESE WORKED I even disable animations close off each app but no it just drains and drains. Oh yeah another worrying thing as well. At random times my phone will get really hot and my battery will also drain on that too sometimes i have to take out the battery just to let it cool down, how do I reduce these problems i dont want my phone to catch fire for no reason.
Your tips can be really useful to me thank you.

I have the exact same issue. The phone has been factory reset last week. Very few software are running on it (and Facebook is not one of them)

Android Security Patch level : November 1, 2016

Software version : H83120a
Hardware info :

Nah man its complete stock.
same here
I have had this problem a few times now also. Each time I was using FotMob a British Football program - checking game scores etc. After putting away the phone it heats up and later no juice. Normally I can go for 2 days. I throw my phone on the charger each night and I may still be on 50%. I think there is a clear trend with some poorly behaving apps. I had this happen since my update to 20b. Completely stock. Not a solution but maybe more info.
I also have a G5 and when I had this problem before I just did the simple solutions like not using the phone while it is being charged, lowering the brightness of the screen, and turning off WiFi/Bluetooth/GPS. Switch off the apps that you don't use. Go to settings and tap on Application Manager. Select 'ALL' then choose the apps you want to disable. Another reason might be because you did not update your software yet. I hope these help.
Never mind. I found ways to stop it now.

This. But I only disabled Facebook messenger and replaced with Disa. There is also a lightweight version of messenger that is available.
Facebook app itself seems to be fine.
In my case after nugat the Facebook app kills my battery in 2 hours and over heats my messenger is fine.
So i just log in with chrome to Facebook and im back at 3.5h sot.
This has been a pretty interesting thread. Ever since I changed phones and got the LG G5, I've been trying to find ways to extend the battery life of my phone. Hopefully the time will come when we won't have to worry about the batteries of smart phones soon.
I am having similar issues but it seems to be when I am using Maps and Camera. When I have location turned on, and am using Google Maps, the phone starts to overheat very badly and the battery will completely drain from 100% within 90 minutes. Even if I turn off Location services, the phone remains warm and battery still drains quickly. The overheating and battery drain also happens when I use the camera. Very annoying as it starts to get uncomfortable to place in my pocket when it is so hot. I am on v20a-EUR-XX.
I think I will have to send it back to LG for another replacement... *sigh*...
check if you are using SD card more than 64GB and if so, remove it and try
Before android 7 never had this issue, i have h850 model. After android 7 the phone heats and drain battery fast, it is related to location i think some wakelock that is never stoped when using location, hope it will be fixed soon

Well, hopefully they release a supplemental update to address the issue. I love Android 11 otherwise. Does your phone have a random glitch with messenger or any app where you can open photos to attach or something and have to close the app then reopen and it works?

I have not had that issue yet. It is laggy. There is also an "out of focus/blur" screen when it transitions from screen to screen, or should I say, app to app. It appears intentional, like a transition between scenes in a movie, but there is no point to it. The phone used to just switch screens. Now there is a transitional screen. Like the "red loading bar" of old.
I am just very disappointed with LG. and the V series. I have had most of them starting with the V10.
Sometimes I long for the old times when if you did not like the OS, you rolled back to an older version or flashed someone else's ROM onto your phone.

How about no! Lol. I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G there's a reason it not my daily. Samsung still needs a lot to mature it's a huge improvement but still leaking key Android features. I can agree, hardware wise not entirely software. One has good things about software and the other has good things.
Anyone else having system ui crashes whenever they pull down the notification shade? I guess been a bug on several Android 11 phones: OnePlus, Pixel, Samsung
I reached out to LG, they said to do a FDR (factory data reset) and if that did not resolve the issues to send the phone in for repair (since I am still under warrenty).
I'm on AT&T and updated to Android 11 earlier this week. It resulted in a black screen soft-brick. I could still see the touches (from dev mode) where fingers tapped the screen. And if I held down the Power button, I'd see the typical Power Down / Restart / Etc. options, and tapping on them would generate the appropriate responses. But in all other instances, it was just a black screen. I figured my HEAVY de-bloating of Android 10 when I first got the phone caused something to break.
So I went ahead and did a full factory restore using recovery/safe mode and set it up as a new phone, and haven't had any serious issues since. I went ahead and got almost everything (minus Fluid Navigation Gestures, RIP) working the way I wanted, and embarked on another HEAVY de-bloating process. Seems like I took things too far, because, upon my next reboot, I was in the exact same black screen soft-brick state I mentioned above.
Another factory reset. Another session of restoring my apps, launcher, settings, and customizations. This time, I just used Package Disabler Pro for LG from the Google Play Store to perform some more restrained bloatware disabling, and everything's been pretty great. For Android 10 and the first attempt at de-bloating Android 11, I was using ADB commands to "uninstall" dozens upon dozens of system apps. Battery life is not quite as good as it was with my heavily de-bloated Android 10 environment, but I didn't expect it to be, and I'm not going to risk messing this all up again.
My only complaint is that stock AOD (and Sidelight Notifications) don't seem to be working properly, no matter how I configure them in Settings. I'm not sure what's causing the issue, but I actually developed this problem just a few days BEFORE the AT&T OTA landed, and it's persisted through a full Android point upgrade and two factory resets, so I imagine there's a conflict somewhere. Maybe with Fluid Simulation - Trippy Stress Reliever (my live wallpaper app of choice), Energy Bar, or Nova Launcher. I haven't been able to pinpoint it yet, but since it predates the Android 11 OTA by a few days, there must be another cause.
I do miss Fluid Navigation Gestures, but I'm happy to report that the new Android 11 gestures are way better than Android 10's. Not quite as customized as I had FNG, but I've adapted. Until/unless someone figures out how to hide the navigation bar without root, LG's gestures it is, I guess.
I have a Verizon V60 and since the update the processor is pegged to 100% utilization after just a few minutes of listening to YouTube music. Nothing I do will drop the utilization down besides a reboot. Again, after a few minutes, same thing. That's what you guys are seeing. I did a factory reset thinking that might fix it. It didn't. I restored all of my apps, but not my data just to be sure that nothing weird was causing issues. Even after the restore, the CPU was pegged at 100%.
Long story short, the SW is bugged. So was 10 (voice commands broken with Maps in Incognito mode for example). I've wanted to switch to this phone as my daily for a while from my Galaxy S10, but LG keeps dropping the ball.
Regarding the Samsung, it has significantly more features and regular updates. There is no comparison, frankly. I only like the LG for the form factor, large battery, speed and head phone jack amp. Otherwise, the S10 is just a better phone. This reminds me why I stopped buying Motorola phones. Buggy updates with broken core functionality.
I bought a V50 based on the positive reviews, and I ultimately sold it due to bugs (Android Auto was an absolute mess). The V60 has been better, but still far from perfect. I find phone reviews absolutely worthless as those people seem to restrict their usage to social media and photography. When it comes to using it as an actual phone, silence.
Sorry for the long rant. I will give LG another month to see if they fix this issue. Otherwise, I'm selling this phone and will never buy another LG.

Anyone else having system ui crashes whenever they pull down the notification shade? I guess been a bug on several Android 11 phones: OnePlus, Pixel, Samsung

Not on an LG V60, but I've got serious other issues I'm here about.
I don't usually post here, but gotten a ton of great info here over the years, including rooting a couple phones. Thank you to all who contribute.
Since the update I've found three of my favcorite apps, all paid for, afflicted with issues that range from a couple cosmetic glitches in AccuBattery, to one app that's completely unusable. I've done one factory reset since the update.
I have a support ticket opened for the worst one; Radio Paradise's streaming app, the beta version (only one of these in beta). After clearing its cache and data, then uninstalling, then restarting (power off/>10 seconds pause/on), then reinstalling, I can sometimes get a connection and start downloading music, streaming or caching. But just once. Then it won't reconnect to the streams at all.
The other one, Weather Underground's app, now won't even start. But the notification seems fine keeping time and temp on schedule. Try to start the app and it immediately shuts down.
All three of these apps, including the RP Betas, have been solid for a year (one attraction) and all run fine on an old V10 and V30 still on the wifi. Have for years.
If this gibes with anyone else's experiance I'd like to hear about it, I haven't found these kinds of complaints anywhere. My Spidey sense suggests a possible permissioning issue but I'm not sure.
So here is the XDA article about the feature drop
June Feature Drop for Google Pixels includes At a Glance improvements, Pocket Operator, and more
The June feature drop for Google Pixel devices is now available, and you can install it on your smartphone. It has a ton of new features.

And it really does look kind of..... underwhelming? like nothing there is very useful or important at large.
But the update actually brought nice stuff.
Check this article for the main take on the feature drop
June Feature Drop appears to cure most of what ailed Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro units
Most Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users have seen a big improvement in their handsets' cellular connectivity after installing the June Feature Drop.

I myself have noticed improvements in the time to fingerprint unlock, network seems to be faster and more stable in comparison to March, and my network battery usage went down from being around 30% to around 5%!
So all in all I'm happy with this update even though it didn't seem meaningful at the beginning. It makes this phone more fine tuned and worth.
Have you-all noticed any improvements?
Are you feeling it's better then before?
Yes much better. One day in only but noticeable for sure.
The OTA update isn't showing up yet for me.

I used the android flash tool it factory reset my phone but that's not big deal for me I restored my backup from Google one.
I have noticed the fingerprint sensor is working better my phone seems to not get as good reception but the network is also not using 30% anymore it more like 10 or 15 which is still high but where I'm at now doesn't really have great reception to begin with

Yeah, that's what I'm referring to. I'm manually checking for the update, and it's not showing up. I'll try restarting.

I usually wait for the update notification upon checking updates available. This time it didn't seem it was forthcoming anytime soon since my wife's P5 didn't get it either. So I sideloaded it yesterday. It took all of 7 - 10 min from recovery to reboot. Not sure what the delay is but I just didn't feel like waiting for them to do whatever the eff they need to do to release it.

i got my phone yesterday ....love it
I've definitely noticed an improvement in the fingerprint reader. I haven't noticed any different in network - but more so because I am usually on WiFi and generally don't have network issues when I am not.

Yeah, I ended up sideloading it. No issues, and everything feels a little snappier
I sideloaded it Monday afternoon. Wasn't having any issues before and am not having any issues after.
It's a little early to tell, but I think battery life has improved. I ended the day both Monday and Tuesday with a battery that was about 10%-15% higher than usual.
Being able to use music player like neutron working again is brilliant I had the update on Monday about 11pm I'm in uk
i installed June update 2 days ago. not sure if it is the update or battery guru which was installed at the same time, but now my phone ACTUALLY goes into deep sleep (as reported by battery guru)!!
Its always in deep sleep now for around 15/16hrs between charges and battery drain is down to as little as 1% per hr when screen off. Before I could lose around 20/30% from around 10pm (last phone use) until 6.30am when i pick my phone up the following morning.
One thing i am having issue with SINCE the June update is pixel launcher. Im getting errors saying it has stopped working. I Use Lawnchair anyway, but thats not the point. Just before I get the error about pixel launcher, the phone goes really slow.
A restart of the phone hasn't solved the issues and i have also cleared data/cache from the launcher to no avail.
I NEED TO CONNECT MULTIPLE BLUETOOTH DEVICES AT ONCE!
one weird error I have since updating. If I pull down the notification tab as soon as i click a notification, instead of opening it it will lock the screen
Noticed much improved battery life as well. A 2% drop in active usage and much better standby battery drain. Took my phone out of the charger at 1pm yesterday and I'm at 48% as of writing this message the net day at 6:35pm. Moderate active usage between then and now.
EDIT:
Forgot to mention that my phone doesn't seem to randomly overheat anymore while casually browsing the web.
EDIT 2:
Phone finally shut down today at 4pm, with around 50hours of total battery life and 6ish hours of screen time. This is probably the single biggest overall battery life improvement I've ever experienced just from installing an update alone on any phone I've owned.
NVM, I found the setting.
Definitely not better here battery or network wise after the June patch.
