New LG V10 Update - Few bug fixes - Verizon LG V10

According to the official website, the 23A update provides Wi-Fi Calling performance improvements and a clarification to the USB connection pop-up when the device is charging.
The following things are noticed when you look at the update:
- There is no change to the android version, which is still android 6.0
- Security patch level is dated @ June 1st
- If you plug in your phone to USB (like your computer), it doesn't say "Charging Only" anymore, it says just "Charging"
- If you go to location preferences, the E911 only fib telling you that your location is always available in emergencies is no longer there.
The following issues have NOT been fixed and are still in effect:
- Messaging apps like Google Hangouts do not send or receive multimedia messages. To solve this you must use the default stock LG messaging app. Verizon and other carriers have this bug still, so we don't see it getting fixed anytime soon.
- Sometimes, the V10 doesn't receive phone calls. The only way to fix this is to restart the phone. Still no word on if this is going to be fixed either.
- Some people have had their 4G signal drop or turn into 3G signal. This is also an issue not just involving Verizon. We still don't know how this is happening and we are still looking for answers.

I've not had a chance to check yet but one of the best features of the V10 was the BT performance for audio. This was broken after the v6 (Marshmellow) upgrade. Audio over BT was noisy, staticy.
Has anyone checked to see if this was fixed?

I do not, nor ever had, any of the issues that you say weren't fixed in this update.
I run BT to my car stereo every day.... never had static or noise.
I did, however, use to get a Toast that said "Check your connection and try again." From an unknown source... now I don't get it.

Sometimes my BT skips out for a second. I have difficulty staying connected to the WiFi at work. O tried Tile and TrakR to keep track of my keys that I lose frequently but the BLE doesn't stay connected. Confirmed fixes in 6.0.1. Do we have it? No. I'm thinking that I'll never buy an LG phone again. Verizon says LG has to make the update and LG says it's Verizon that has to do it.

I have never had an issue sending mms in hangouts. Sounds like you have an individual issue.

I use Hangouts with my Google Voice number. I am able to send SMS and MMS.

Ever since the update, my CPU has been running non-stop and burning through my battery, even plugged in. *edit* like 3 hour battery life, after a full charge over night and a full charge of the spare battery over night, and i switch the battery and it too only lasts ~ 3 hours, with very little use.
The battery info in settings doesn't tell me anything either, its not one app running down the battery.
Anyone else ever see this after an update?
is the best solution to do a full system restore?

Sometimes, when I use the quick charger in the middle of the day I experience faster than normal battery drain. Pull the batter and wait 2 minutes then replace.
What we need is 6.0.1!!!!

No battery issues here. Do a full reset.

is this a staggered rollout? i havent had the notification yet and ive checked manually and gotten nothing, vs990 on selectel wireless

This is the newest update for Verizon Wireless.

I like the V10 initially but it has gone down hill since the recent updates. I should have stuck with it's stock configuration.

It needs 6.0.1. Plain and simple.

Benefits of v6.0.1??
I'm still at 6.0
verizon software version VS99023A

We're all still at 6.0. LG hasn't made 6.0.1 available.
6.0.1 has all the new emoji as part of the OS and there are a bunch of fixes for connectivity.

Wow, sounds good. The emojis I could care less about but audio quality over BT took a crap with the recent updates.

I don't know if it fixes that. I know that Bluetooth Low Energy has connectivity issues.

Would be nice if they made some way for us to roll back to MI1... I've noticed less stable wifi, as well as she chews through battery at almost double the rate of 4.2.2. Should have waited to update, newer isn't always better. I think my 4G is more powerful now though.
That's for AT&T version. Not sure how much is different compared to verizon version.

hmm interesting. I actually just got my S4 coming from my S3. Battery life is a decent bit better than my S3. But I haven't had any issues with it so far.
My Verizon S4 4.3 has been running fine. No problems with WiFi or battery life. Maybe Verizon did something right when they agreed to have 4.3 released.
My battery life sucks since the update. Another thing I noticed is my data use has been a lot higher and I haven't done anything different. I got a text last week that I'm at 90% of my usage...I have never even gone over 75% before.

I haven't noticed any specific issues, but I am with everyone else on the data usage. I have used a surprising amount of mine. I do wish that exterior development was a little more supported by the companies :/
Via Betterbatstats app I am draining at 3.1% after 4.3 update,
Not really that bad for me.

I'm noticing a lot of wi-fi issues on my work connection which has a weak signal. I've gone from being able to connect (with frequent drop-outs) to not being able to get a stable connection at all. Really wishing I wouldn't have taken the update.
I saw a website last night on the pulling of the 4.3 update. It seems almost every carrier is affected by these bugs. There is a list of issues that the site posted...blank black screen...WiFi issues...music player launching...Verizon car charger not working. The ones I've noticed are battery life...Verizon car charger...phone going between eG and 4G a lot more often. Here is the site I found this all from.
http://www.androidpit.com/android-4-3-update-s4-problems
I've also notice a issue where my Samsung charger while charging my phone said to use the OEM charger for better charging performance..I think the update has a bug that is causing the charging port to report false indications or not work at all (Verizon car charger). Dunno but it looks like were stuck with it until VZW or Samsung pushes a update with fixes.

I'm rooted on MI1 and froze OTA updates, so am happy not to be a test bed. Wife's S4, unrooted, had the 4.3 update pushed onto her phone over the weekend but I haven't heard any complaints from her...so far.

Huh, here I thought it was due to my tinkering. But since 4.3, I've had the battery drainage and charger issue along with terrible performance. Even before this disaster, I was getting tired of the weak vibration and ringtone, and slow performance. Its loaded with so much crap that it can barley do its core functions. I'm so turned off that I've been actively looking for alternative. Hell, blackberry is starting to look good.
I can go about a day and a half to two days of if I'm not using my phone much... I haven't noticed that that's any difference from pre mj7

Those running Lollipop - what are your thoughts?

Now that there are a couple of versions of the 'official' Lollipop update floating around for the Z3v and people are using it, what's the verdict? What are your thoughts? Was it worth the wait? Is it running alright, better, or worse, than KK? Any problems or concerns?
It might help if you let us know which version you installed (.485 or .509), if you're rooted, and if you did a clean wipe and install or flashed over your previous version.

It does not. I don't think it works on either build, but I'm running version .485, FYI.
Multi-user / guest mode also has been deactivated and is missing.
Im actually enjoying the update, fun little things here and there. Im greatful to have the update everything works well.
I have the unrooted .485 build. To my knowledge almost everything is working perfectly. Battery life is the same if not better. I love Sony's take on material design. The only two things missing are multiple user accounts and the ability to do voice over data, but I do not think that will be turned on until Verizon officially releases the update. Since verizon hasn't released it yet, I'm positive they haven't "hit the switch" to turn it on for our devices.
I'm waiting for Verizon to push this to my phone but am a little concerned that pdanet/foxfi will stop working for me when it comes. Any thoughts on this? What are my risks of waiting on not rooting? Wi-Fi hotspots is critical for me.

I'm actually experiencing a dramatic DROP in battery charge longevity and haven't been able to find out what's doing it.
Other than that, the upgrade is "OK", but without the missing features that we're waiting on Verizon for, I'm not sure it was worth all the hassle.
I just look at it as good practice for when 2 have to go through all this crap again when they finally do release the good stuff.
Edit...
After having whittled down some of the background apps that I had done in K.K. (per Gigaspx's list), I am now experiencing much better battery life. Also, now that I have Xposed-lollipop-z3v working to tweak the interface, it's looking less foreign to me and more intuitive.
I had both versions installed and clearly prefer 509. I had WiFi issues with 485 and my phones was overheating while wireless charging. 509 fixed those issues and everything is working fine. Compared to 4.4.4 everything is faster and I rely like the new lollipop interface. I haven't done any testing but I think that the battery life also improved.
I'm on 509 and have seen a few odd things.
My GPS locked up the other day and would not update my location. I had to reboot to fix it. This has never happened to me on this phone before.
Hitting recent apps lags. It takes long enough to come up with the list of recent apps that I start to question whether or not I hit the button every single time.
Settings from Tasker profiles that have always worked without a hitch are not being respected. For example, the screen will continuously turn off after 5 or 10 seconds but when I check the settings for screen timeout it says 2 minutes. Re-applying the profile works as expected after.
Other than that I'm enjoying LP. I'll have to do some testing to see what I can fix.

so can we downgrade from lolipop to kitkat?

I'm starting to have a constant wakelock. No idea why and I cant fully charge with a wireless charger.
I have only had lollipop a couple of days now (flashed 509). So far I like it. Battery is about the same, never have had any lag, maybe lollipop is a little faster? Several things I like - BT seems more stable, lock screen controls are now more consistent, and the security features are better (I use a pin to lock my phone). I generally like the small changes to the interface.
Things I don't like. The volume controls is not intuitive (muting etc). Themes don't work as well either. Can't seem to get navigation buttons to change.

I had Bluetooth problems updating to non root 5.02 without doing a factory reset. I switched back to 4.4.4, rooted and then updated with dual recovery and have had no issues for the past two weeks. My sony smartband talk watch was having a lot of problems which prompted me to go back to a clean factory reset 4.4.4 and then root. I used kingroot and installed recovery before flashing the prerooted 5.02. I'm getting 5.5 hours sot and its very stable.

Is it possible that the update fixed some battery drain issues? Its been rather amazing. Charged to 90% yesterday 8am. Heavy notification use, ambient mode, gestures on, navigation to home and ran 6 miles using two tracking apps and pandora. 45% at 12 hours later. I was at 65% before the run but kept the screen on while jogging so i could read my progress. Loving it. Cant wait for custom roms!

Service randomly dropping

I have an AT&T H820. I've been having issues for about a month with my phone randomly going from having good service, then going to no service. Sometimes it'll cycle between the 2 for half an hour or so. I've done factory resets and even gotten a warranty replacement.
The only thing I can think of is possibly something to do with the battery since I had to use the one from the replaced G5. Since this has been happening the battery life is abysmal, even when it's not cycling between service and no service.
Any help is much appreciated!

Well its nothing to do with the battery. I bought a new genuine battery and it still will occasionally drop service. It must be a software issue or with an app unless I just got really unlucky with my warranty replacement phone.

I also have those same 3 new mystery battery draining items since after the H82011K update, this software patch is S#!T. AT&T's customer support is abysmal when it comes to accountability for bad OTA's, I have contacted them about several other problems caused by H82011K and they tell me it's LG's fault (I think they're lying personally). I also noticed WIFI is wonky since that latest patch. So pretty much good luck to us and godspeed to the Android N update - hopefully it doesn't break this poor phone any further.

Seems everything is fine. And your battery is original too without problems. I have a solution for u for sure...
SOL1:- If you are rooted then go for app like Greenify where you can hibernate your apps like Spotify etc.
SOL 2:- If you know flashing then maybe yoy should flash a kernel. Or maybe a compatible ROM.
(Kernels like Decipher or Halogen are awesome) but check the compatibility.
Hage a good day. Cheers [emoji4]

That would be great if it was possible. Unfortunately we have the H820 (AT&T model) which is bootloader-locked and thus unrootable. Development on that is also apparently at a standstill if I'm not mistaken.

I have the same notification, both actually: the first one 23.5.A.1.291 and the second one 1.1.A.0.1 with my Xperia Z2
I updated it with the 1.1.A.0.1, it's OK, the phone don't reboot. But I don't update with the 23.5.A.1.291. I don't want to lose the root, xposed, and root apps (it was hard for me to have them on my phone (and I don't know why I can't access anymore to recovery, with locked bootloader)).
Anyone notice any additional battery drain? Might be just imaging it but it does seem like battery not as good.

i update 2days ago.. so its too soon to say
so far its 1% per hour(average) standby with wifi+data ,so.. you might be right
i'll continue to follow
the next night ill try without data\wifi\bt or stamina mode
my best record so far is 0.11% per hr (1% every 9hrs)
my worst drain yet is 15mins for 1% for standby (wifi whatsapp via browser)
i still didnt get .350 update for some reason
in 60 days we should've get android 7.0 i think (i forgot the date)

Apparently some Z3C report the same problem (like here) , not sure if it can be related. In either case I prefer wait and see if there is an evolution about this update.
I wasn't going to install it but you can't get rid of the notification and then it annoys me ?

Yeah the notification appear this morning and it annoys me too x)
I just stop the service, and freeze the updater app with Titanium BC, and it seem to work.
