miui folder's size - Xiaomi Redmi 3 Questions & Answers

i got 23 themes installed (including 4 built in themes), and my miui folder size is 3.70 gigs, is this normal or what ?

why on earth do you need 23 themes?

Even when I count the sizes of themes one by one, the sum doesnt match up to 3.70 gigs, so what are the real space eater in miui folder ?

Was the hardwareAccelerated flag enabled in the manifest xml? It was pretty jittery before and now its smooth as silk, from what I have seen in other apps that flag is usually what resolves it. Anyways, great work man, the launcher is loads more responsive now!
much much faster thank you!
Great job doc! Waiting for what's coming next

Yes. That's where the launcher came from.
This is such a great improvement. I can't believe it's not included by default with the ROMs.

Awesome work. I just installed this, renamed my old launcher to launcher2.apk.bak, and put yours in its place. When I did this, all my widgets say "problem loading widget" i tried doing a reboot, but didn't change anything...any ideas?

Move the "problem loading widget" to the trash bin, and re-add them. Worked for me.

[Q] How to change font size for system?

How do i change the font size so font for almost everything will be bigger? On my nexus 4 and HP touchpad, there was an option to adjust the font size?
does the HTC Amaze stock don't have it because A: it's not a nexus B: it's not AOSP ?
AOSP

On AOSP style ROMs there's an option under accessibility to change the font size. On stock ICS I don't think it can be done.
All the AOSP ROMs here have font size changing options. For texts you can pinch the screen to adjust the size if it helps. :good:
Hit thanks if I helped!

Sense w/ ICS doesn't have a font-size adjustment setting, but don't fret. There are excellent 3rd party apps that will enlarge them for you. I use a small app called FontUp from the play store that fixes things with no problems. Setting font-size to 115% = large in JB or KK, and 130% = extra large. I've been using it since I got my Amaze with no issues. When you're 50+ like I am even with glasses having the fonts be a little larger goes a long way towards a more enjoyable experience. LOL
I hope this helps

does that app also affect things like the text for the power menu? This phone is for my mom and stuff that can't be enlarge is hard for her to see.
B4 i downloaded Big Font and it seems like it doesn't affect the power menu and apps.

I've tried Big Font too. This one seems to work better for most places, so it does a more thorough job. Unfortunately, there are still a few places that neither can change, this is because sense has hard-coded certain font sizes in these areas. Try it out, it's free, doesn't ask for crazy, permissions, and there are no ads or trackers. It's just a simple utility that does what it says it does.

video player replaced by mx
as for link2sd it will not be required since i will be providing swapper which swaps internal and external so no linking required
if some one doesnt want to use swapper he can use fooldermount(i found it better than link 2sd)

I have removed as much apps as i have added
i hv never used or made aroma scripts.
ill see about separate zip file for installing user apps
dont worry about ram as i have put apps that dont consume more than 5 mb
and there is always greenify(i have 126 user apps including whatsapp hike messenger fb and so on but hv 200mb free)
i will mention the user apps(which can be uninstalled easily as normal apps) Eg-FB alternative so u can uninstall it if u dont want it
apps wont exceed 3 pages in launcher
I promise speed because i want to use it myself
App suggestions(any dialer alternative or some thing?)

Try looking in the mipmap folders instead of drawables ( though some will be in drawables as well). Look at the chrome apk. There are several mipmap folders and the app icon will sometimes be in different sizes due to where the app icon will be seen ( app drawer, home screen, etc).
Some are in .XML format. If you have custom looking icons, they will be in the launcher .apk you are using but might be in .XML format.
ya , but with kitkat 4.4.4 and later samsung changed most icons to a custom file format like atc , astc or qmg ...these formats are very hard to convert back and forth so it is really a pain in the ass ... i think samsung prefers the iphone customers who like non customizable expensive crap

For night settings, I usually set my ISO as low as possible. By doing so, the system will automatically use longer shutter speed. About focusing there's nothing I can do but to tap the screen.

Any chance to port MIUI 6 or MIUI 7 stock camera like this way ?
Hola guys. I know this reply is kind of irrelevant but I have been looking for help from anyone who had this problem. To all of you. Particularly the ones who are familiar with MIUI. I will just stick to the point. If you ARE familiar with miui then you must have come across those flashy themes. You must also have found out the way to bypass the infamous theme policy WSM tools and Xposed and all. But I recently started taking interest in those flashy themes. You know that once you download a theme from the default Themes app the mtz file starts getting downloaded and as soon as the downloading has finished it gets unpacked into bits (com.android.contacts, com.miui.home, icons, lock_wallpaper, locksreen and so on) and gets copied to the MIUI folder in main storage and again into data/system/theme. This is the first problem. I can't copy the whole mtz file to a safe place because it gets unpacked as soon as it has been downloaded which is basically a zip file containing several other zip files that is, the 'bits' I was talking about. Second thing. the default themes app does not recognize mtz files downloaded from the official miui themes website. It declares them as third party themes. What I did was, took some of those 'bits' and replaced some XML files inside them and some png elements and put them back into data/system/theme. But miui has a way to prevent this from happening. As soon as it detects a modified file present in data/system/theme it reverts back to the default plain theme by deleting all files from data/system/theme. My guess is it keeps checking out verifying in regular intervals the checksums that it must have generated earlier. The same thing happens if I just replace a bit in the mentioned directory with a bit from another theme. So my questions are:
1. Is there a way to preserve the mtz file downloaded from within the default Themes app as a whole mtz file?
2. Can I make changes to just the Themes app so that it would apply any mtz file?
3. Is there a way to prevent miui from continuously checking or verifying the checksums that it has generated? (just a guess but I reckon thats what it actually does) because for an hour or so after replacing or modifying the 'bits' everything works fine but the reverting process takes place in an hour or so.
Thats all folks! jk. Any help or suggestion would be really appreciated because I think a thread like this was long since needed here. And dont talk about visiting MIUI's official forums. Most of the guys there don't know half the things that is really worth discussing. Thank you guys.
note- dont want to use WSM tools nor can I find one for miui7.
note2- if I change the permissions of the folder (data/system/theme) to 444 allowing READ permissions only, the phone would just reboot without warning and continue to reboot until the permissions are changed back to normal (755).
Good one from MIUI, thx.
