Using F2FS with Xiaomi.EU - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Do Xiaomi.EU roms support F2FS? I want to convert my filesystem to see how it performs but don't wanna brick my device. As far as I am concerned, Radon kernel does support mentioned file system, how about ROM?

The roms nope but if you have a custom kernel and a recovery that supports the filesystem you can go ahead with any rom

Can't get into 7.1xx ROMs

Hi,
I have been using Nexys Experience ROM and I am in love with it. However, recently I wanted to try a 7.1 ROM. I am officially bootloader unlocked and currently using twrp-3.0.M4-0
The problem I am facing, no matter how I try, I cannot boot any 7.1 ROM. I have tried RR, CM14.1 and their respective firmware but after flashing the ROMs never boot and stuck on bootlogo.
Possible Combinations I tried:
1) Flashed CM14.1 Firmware
2) Flashed CM14.1 ROM + Gapps
Result: Stuck on Bootlogo animation

I use f2fs on /data and /cache
Any probable solution?
Is there any errors occurred during flashing process?

Nevermind, I reformatted /data and /cache using ext4 again and flashed EU Rom. Seems to be working. I tried EU rom before but it wasn't working because of f2fs.
Will try any 14.1 rom soon.

f2fs is good but as I will need to go back & forth MIUi & CM/AOSP I guess it's better to stay on EXT4 for now. Until MIUI adds f2fs support.

Hows nexus rom? Is it better then miui in terms of performance and stability? And dual sims are working on nexus experience rom?
I am currently on latest Miui 8 MM 6.12.8 (Epic Rom).. I have ZCX twrp installed and bootloader unlocked officially, can you guide where to start so that I can go back and forth Miui Cm/AOSP, I mean is there anything which need to be backed up before moving to nexus rom so that I can easily come back to Miui 8 MM..

IMO Nexus Experience is the most stable ROM I used. And the dev doesn't push any useless updates. In my usage, it was so much better than miui. I didn't try dual sim because I have only single sim. But should work without any trouble.
If you are official unlocked first flash the twrp recovery from TheStrix's CM thread. After twrp you can install any MIUI from Xiaomi Eu via the twrp recovery. They update the rom when there is a new stable release. Xiaomi eu roms are better than global rom because it does not have unnecessary softwares and also the china based rom which is more stable and optimized. I also used a debloating script that stripped away all junks of MIUI.
If you want to switch from miui, flash any custom rom using the same procedure. However, you should always do a wipe (factory reset) before flashing any rom.

Thank you very much for guidance, I need both of my sims to work so its my main concern, If somebody is using dual sims on NX experience rom 10.4 kindly let me know so that I can flash it as well.
There is twrp-3.0.M4-0 recovery recommended by TheStrix on his CM thread, is this the one?
If we check nexus experience rom's page, they have recommended to use alka recovery only, kindly check below:
http://en.miui.com/thread-357205-1-1.html
And which version of Radon Kernel you are using? Is it 3.2?
Best Regards,

NX Experience is a very nice and smooth rom I have just installed it and I'm loving it.
Kindly let me know how to enable screenshot button in notification panel? I can't find it anywhere.. The only thing which I am missing right now coming from Miui, is three fingers swipe down to take screenshot, is there any alternative?
Did you install Xposed Framework? If yes then which version and from where did you download it..
Thanks & Best Regards,

How best to flash Lineage Os 14.1 by TheStrix with Radon, Magisk, and stuff

Hey guys, I want to switch to LOS14.1 by TheStrix, because it is now stable and bug-free.
There are some other things i want to flash too, so I just wanted to clear things up a bit.
I want to flash radon kernel, Arise sound mod, and magisk, because apparently magisk will allow me to use banking apps.
From referring to other people on the forum, i have the following:
1)Flash CM14 Firmware
2)Flash ROM
3)Flash GAPPS
4)Flash Radon Kernel
5)Reboot and setup phone
6)Flash magisk
7)Enable hide root
8)Flash Arise sound mod with arise magisk compatibility module.
So I have some questions regarding this procedure.
Do I have to flash supersu before flashing Magisk?
Is it worth it to switch data and cache to F2FS?
Do I need to switch recoveries to do this?
Is this the right order to flash the ROM and accompanying zips?
I am using the snapdragon redmi note 3 with fpc fingerprint sensor.
I have an officially unlocked bootloader.
I am currently on RR_MM official.
I would test it out myself, but i'm in college, so i don't really have time to do that.
If anyone would share their experiences or give me some pointers, it would be much appreciated.
No you must switch to RR n

Why is it a must to switch to rr n over los?
I actually don't really mind using either ROM, but I wanted to test out LOS for a while.
No its laggy too much
what i just did in the beginning was to wipe everything except the external sd card.
i would suggest to run the rom the rom first time without new kernel. i just updated my RR Nougat to todays release and wanted to flash radon just ahead, had some errors in recovery doing so. did a reboot, new rom was there but no radon. again flashing within recovery and no problems. with arise i have no clue, i dont use it
Quote from the Radon kernel v4.3 changelog, applicable to your step 4, 5 and 6.

If your rom uses magisk root, then don't flash radon immediately after rom, first boot to system once.

Is it possible to Dual-Boot MM and LP Roms using this Kernel?

So I've using this kernel for a while now
DorimanX LP MM
I use it to Overclock my GS2 and now it runs smoothly.
When I boot into recovery it has an DualBoot option so, I think it can DualBoot to LP and MM Roms.
Can someone confirm this? Thanks in advance.

I can't answer directly, but I don't think so.
The old JB and KK Dorimanx kernels used the preload partition to dual boot the second rom. This kernel also used a specialized recovery from StanTRC which was a CWM based recovery with dual boot support. So any rom that is too big to fit in the stock partitions (512mb) will not be able to be dual booted. Also if you are using isorec recovery, dual boot will not be supported.
Basically you need to use the StanTRC recovery(not isorec) and have an unaltered preload partition, AND have both the primary rom and secondary rom (and gapps if you use them) fit into the /system partition and /preload partition. Hope that makes sense.
Regards
Edit: Both roms also need to be compatible with this older recovery

Flashing over custom kernel

Hello guys, I'm on custom AEX treble build with Franco kernel.
My question is: can I flash other custom ROMs over custom kernel or will I have to go back stock kernel before flashing other treble build?

I am going to assume that you are going to do a clean flash/factory reset (deleting apps and their data). When you flash a rom it flashes a kernel so custom kernel is gone.
Although you didn't ask I will state it anyways. If you are trying different custom kernels you need to flash back to the roms original kernel before flashing a new kernel.

Thanks, the kernel module option is now available in the Wireguard app, but unfortunately is not working - when i click to enable it it tries but does not work. So if you encounter another kernel that supports it in the future, please post the link here.

Try this
Elindir kernel
https://github.com/androbada525/Eli...4/Elindir-v4-60Hz-kenzo-22032020-05.47.08.zip
Note:
Never flash custom kernel over another custom kernel.
Always dirty flash the current rom zip first .
before flashing this kernel. Dirty flash ur current rom zip To restore stock kernel.
Then flash this kernel and wipe cachedalvik.
Thank you! Will try next week (tried the v4 Elindir with no success but did it over another custom kernel, so need to try again over stock ROMs) since before i was trying different kernels i did a nandroid backup, flashed a kernel, then restored the nandroid backup. After restoring a nandroid backup i got a bootloop and had to return to an Android 9 backup., and i am not in the mood to set up my phone again this weekend. Your way (dirty flashing of rom to get old kernel back) sounds much faster heh.
BTW: Is the nandroid backup not working a specific ROM issue (Bliss) or does it happen with all Android 10 ROMS ? I have the latest 3.3.1 official TWRP.

Stay on android 9 . 10 roms got issues with flashing procedure.
To flash Most of the 10 roms u need to strictly follow
Wipe all, format data, reboot to recovery again , install rom and gapps. Only then 10 will boot.
Even before restoring nandroid u need to do format data command.
They say its happens coz of broken installation script on 10.
Android 9 flashing instruction is very simple.
Factory reset
Install rom and gapps
Reboot.
Now encryption on 10 is fixed in latest havoc, syberia.
I m waiting for bliss to fix it.

Or you can just backup the existing boot.img and reflash if needed? No? Also there's this twrp flashable module by AnggaSync which cleans the boot.img for flashing a kernel.
