Hello everyone.
My power button suddenly stopped working. I'm running a Honor 7 (PLK-L01) with android 6.0 with emui 4.0.1. I'm not rooted. It has always worked before, but now it doesn't function if I press it. Short presses to wake the device, long presses to get the boot menu, it al doesn't work. I'm afraid that if my battery dies, I won't be able to turn my device on at all. Are there more people with this problem, or are there people who have a solution? I hope it's just a software problem, but I don't know how I can be sure if it is a software or a hardware problem.
I hope someone can help me.
Okay, it started working again. As soon as I pressed my volume buttons it responded again, like it was triggered by it or something.
Volume buttons and power button are very close together so maybe some kind of dirt got inside and stuck them.
yes, most probably some malfunction due to obstucles or small particles like dust,
its best once you get it cleaned
Service center is your friend to get it cleaned.
Yeah, could do that. But the closest service center is like 100 km from where I live ?

To avoid wear and tear in my power button, I use double tap to lock.

That cover can be b*t*h indeed. Becomes easier the more times you take it off though
press simultaneously:
- power button
- volume down
- camera button (alias trackball)

Where were you about one month ago? Since then I took the battery out tens of times and now at every press of the power button, the phone skweaks.
it work ...great tip
Don't know if its just me, But the power button and vol Control buttons are getting harder and harder to register as time passes by, Normal presses on these buttons don't work now,
For me i have to press very hard on the power button to actually register a press. I am worried that someday i will be forced to send it to the service center and its not even an year into this phone.

U should use alternatives like quick reboot and have a shortcut for reboot and shutdown on home screen ,which can help reduce stress on power button.

Sorry ,but i make a mistake here ,its not quick reboot ,its quick boot by sirius applications ltd.
yeah , kinda worried about that too
for lock the device , u can download Screen off & Lock from market
and for reboot , reboot to recovery , i prefer to use terminal emulator
Shrug. The minimal warranty for similar issues is 2 years here in EU. Dunno about other parts of the world.
This it's just a entry level android...most of us will upgrade to high end androids soon
I know most of u guys agree with me
it's called button savior
Screen Off and Lock by Katecca/Tools
Try this widget from the market. works great on the optimus One.
Hello guys. At first i´m so sorry for my bad english, so i´ll show you a video of my problem.
Phone - HTC Hero, Android 2,1

I can´t post outside links in my messages...

It will not go to sleep mode when pressing the end/power key. But it still takes phone OUT of sleep mode, but now I have to wait for the screen timeout instead of pressing the button again.
I tried to find answer to my question, but i failed... I tried Reboot, Spare Parts - i don´t know if it worked properly, Hard reset, but the power button still not working properly.
Thank you! Marty

Try to restore your phone to the default, or try to install a custom rom
Sent from my awesome X8 using Tapatalk
Now i did a ROOT and i try to flash in some ROMs but it still not works + it cancels my outcoming and incoming calls...
Sounds like you have a failing power button.. like I do.
It's a real pain in the ass... been looking for solutions for quite a while, besides physically replacing the circuit board the button is on...
I know this is old but for anybody researching the same problem... after trying MANY different apps for taking over power button tasks, the only real solution was to buy a replacement "Flex Cable" assembly on eBay. Takes some bravery to install but everything works now.
But that's just my experience.
I suppose that the simplest way out id button remapper that you can find hear at xda.
By using such software you can easily turn any of the other physical keys of your device into the power button.

True, and they did work once the phone was up and running. However, when something went wrong on my rom and I needed to get into recovery to re-flash... I was SOL.
Yes, remapping is applied only after the kernel is loaded... So remapping is quite useless if the phone is switched off.
My phone was working just fine and randomly the lock button stopped working and the home button brings up the power screen! This is extremely frustrating, any help would be great!!

that's a very remote possibility i don't think the power button would get damaged that easily. if it really bothers you, you could use a hard case for your phone to protect it from damages. However if that doesn't convince you, then, i'll let you know how to unlock without the power button.
Notice that your phone has sensors on the front? You can use that to unlock the phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389752
But I still don't know how will you turn on the phone in the first place if your power button is destroyed If I were you and my power button is damaged, I would buy a new mobile
Keep alarm so it will ask whether to switch on handset or not. I used this method on my nokia 5800 when its power on switch was damaged. This method can be followed on Micromax a116 also.
