Galaxy S5 MM 6.0.1 PK1 (Mostly) Stock Deodexed Rom
This build is based on the marshmallow stock G900PVPS3CPK1_G900PSPT3CPK1_SPR build.
This is a first release. Even though it has been tested, please report any issues.
Features:
- Rooted
- Busybox
- Hotspot enabled
- Knox Removed
- ItsOn Removed
- All toggles enabled including hotspot and flashlight
- Usb/battery popups removed
- Signature verification disabled
- .5 animation scales default
- Screen mirroring fix
- Usb debugging on by default
- Carrier label removed from statusbar
- Hidden menu hacked to allow use without prl. Prl write enabled, don't know if it still works on 6.0 though.
- Recovery & Download Mode added to stock reboot menu.
- private mode does not work (not really too interested in fixing it right now, the standard fix doesn't work)
- All apps updated, all stock apps included. Use debloat tool to remove Sprint bloat apps, even if they've taken updates. Only app I left behind is sprint zone because users are always asking for it.
Known Issues:
If you try to edit the toggles, flashlight will disappear.
There is nothing I can do about this right now.
To restore the stock toggles, wipe data on the Add Toggles app and reboot (I use Titanium backup).

Nice work!! Does the mini bootloader include modem too?
edit: already downloaded and check the file and the answer is yes.
Just to be clear, the mini bootloaders are for jumping back and forth between lollipop roms and marshmallow? Would this be flashed through Odin and then just boot into recovery to flash ROM of choice?

Yes. You have to flash those through Odin.
Has anyone else noticed HORRIBLE battery on pk1, vs say ok4 or pca?
Im on the stock pk1, not this version here. Just wondered if its just me, or if its everyone and maybe this is addressed in these roms posted here.
Thanks.
Thanks @tdunham for this rom even though you moved on from this phone. Just moved over from cm13 back to this rom and it's working great so far.

I don't see why not this is just a stock rooted rom with minor mods nothing that much changed. I personally don't really install viper but it should work if you were able to install it on other tw based roms
first, thank you @tdunham for making this. I had an issue using the 3.0.2-1 TWRP as it wouldn't allow SD card access, so I went back to 3.0.1-0 and it worked fine.
EDIT: i can't seem to get v4a to work. Any ideas?

I found 3.0.2-1 also solved flashing issues. I have noticed access to my ext sd is like its not there. I wondered why. Im gonna try 3.0.1-0.

Mine dropped from stock ok4 to pk1. Gonna flash this in the next day or so.
Forgive my ignorance. I've never run a debloat tool. I usually just remove what I don't use but guessing this way is cleaner. Should I boot up the rom and set it up first or run it directly after flashing the rom?

perhaps the bloatware is eating at it. also the battery is a mess after a new flash, needs few days to settle
Debloat , kill all the garabage and let it cycle the battery few times.
Ive tried both stock and debloated, still crappy batt.
Ill flash this n see if its just a quirk on my end or if just so happening that my battery is giving out.
I dont see an option to mount SD as internal storage, is that not available on this build?

Before first boot is best. Doesn't really matter probably.

Never use an aftermarket battery, they are really not worth it.
If getting an extended yield battery, only purchase the best name brands like zero lemon. I had a cheapy aftermarket standard battery and when I bought a genuine stock, there was a huge difference.

Unless something has changed, this has never been an option on stock Touchwiz.

At first: my recovery.
The only custom recovery i could find for E120L is from Tegrak.
Unfortunatelly it's too buggy and couldn't install any of my updates.
That's why i've made my own recovery. So, to install my ROM, you need to flash my recovery. It covers functionality of Tegrak's recovery.
- based on official UE11 (Android 4.0.3) recovery
- adbd starts as root
- local (independed from system's) busybox.
- independent from main system partition and boot image. So, you can still use my recovery if system partition is broken.
- verification of signature has been patched out. So, you can install any hand-made zip.
E120L_recovery_by_sorg_v2.zip
Unzip it and Flash TAR file in Odin as PDA part.
To enter recovery mode:
1) Turn phone OFF
2) Press VolUp + VolDown + Power buttons at the same time
3) Keep buttons pressed till "SAMSUNG" word disappear.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is my version of ROM for E120L.
- based on E120L UE11
- English (default) and Korean languages.
- deodexed/zipaligned
- rooted (SuperSU 0.89)
- adbd starts in root mode.
- busybox
- fast dormancy off
- SMS send/receive of any lenght (both ANSI and Unicode) should work (see descripion below)
- SMS application replaced to customized one from i9100.
- added + to button 0 in dialer
- removed video call unavailability notification icon from status bar
- boot/shutdown animations/sounds are taken from E120S (original were too boring)
There was no intention to clean ROM from Korean bloatware. The main purpose of my ROM is to make this phone working. When main functionality will start to work as in normal phone (especially SMS functions) then it's possible to clean it.
flash procedure:
1) Put this E120L_UE11_v5b_by_Sorg.zip to MicroSD
2) insert MicroSD to your E120L and boot into recovery (my recovery) mode.
3) choose "apply update from external storage" and choose E120L_UE11_v5b_by_Sorg.zip
4) go back to main recovery menu and then choose "wipe data/factory reset". Note: you HAVE to do this in order to make my ROM work correctly. It doesn't matter which ROM you've used before. Even after stock UE11 you have to wipe the data.
5) choose "reboot system now"
First boot will take some time. Be patient
About SMS: For me it works fine now. I can send any length of SMS with both ANSI and Unicode encodings. Also i can receive SMS with any length and with correct caller id.
Thats was the main purpose of creating this ROM.
But, some users reported they still cannot send SMS... Currently i have not much details to figure out where is the problem.
So, try my ROM and tell if SMS functions are working for you or not.
Download:
E120L_UE11_v5c_by_Sorg.zip
E120L_UE11_v6.1_by_Sorg.zip
Changelog:
v6.1:
- cleaned from bloatware
- better fix for SMS. Now should work without problems with any 3rd party SMS app.
- GO Launcher Ex as a main launcher
- 15 configurable toggles (QuickPanel Settings)
- Circle Battery mod
- Extended Power Menu
- Some tweaks in Recent menu (long click on Home button)
- LGU Hidden menu doesn't require password
- MyPhoneNumber Utility
- Boot/Shutdown animations from SGS3
- some other fixes
This version is still based on UE11 ROM as a stable and well explored by me.
I don't have SHV-E120L anymore (traded it to SHV-E210K), so this is my last ROM for SHV-E120L.
v5c:
- missed SMS didn't shown on lockscreen
- added correct AMSS and MDM parts to ROM to make sure modem version compatible with ROM version.
v5b:
- first release.
P.S.:
If you cannot send SMS then it's because your SIM-card has no "my phone number".
Install attached MyPhoneNumber (v6.1 already includes it) utility and write your own number there (starting with +). Number will be saved to your SIM-card and SMS will start to work.
P.P.S.: Some users complain for bad GPS. In case you have this problem, you may download attached GPS fix. Install it through recovery.
I don't accept requests for adding/removing applications.
But bugreports are welcome!
Eager to know how this ROM turns out. My friend (who bought my E120L) is eager to get on ICS - I just need a rom that's stable so i can flash it for her.
Quick question - do other SMS apps work?
I've tried Go SMS. Works on my phone.

Of so, then it's good. At least it works not only for me, but also for someone else
Actually, i never used delivery report. I may look into this problem, but not sure if i will be able to fis it.
Anyway, it's not a big deal if won't work
if someone have problem with SMS, then:
1) check Settings -> About Phone -> Status -> My Phone Number. Do you see your phone number there?
2) In contacts application, click Set up profile (Me) and write your mobile number there (in international form, starting with + sign). Restart phone and try SMS again.

nope. They are completely different devices. Samsung apps tied to framework, while framework tied to native libraries (/system/lib), but native libraries are platform depended and cannot be transferred from S3 to S2 HD.
May be port of S3 LTE to S2 HD will be possible since both platform are similar (not the same though) - Quallcomm Snapdragon. But again, not much hope there.
Here's a Stockish ROM for your N915P. This ROM has Knox, Sprint ItsOn, and secure storage removed. Nothing else was done to this ROM. I'm new to the Note Edge so I may upload patches to remove any other traces of Knox or ItsOn or optimizations I happen to find while making my own ROM.

DeOdex note:
The first boot time for this DeOdex ROM is very long. Approximately 5-8 minutes. Your phone will get hot as the splash screen remains on the yellow Sprint boot animation. I recommend keeping your phone in a cool environment while this is happening. The heat, if not properly checked, can make boot times even longer as the system throttles speed in order to deal with the heat. This doesn't happen on the Odex version.
Install instructions:
-Are you currently on the OC8 bootloader and would like to stay on it?
--Simply flash the baseband with Odin, and the ROM.
-Are you on the update from OTA or flashed the OG1 TAR?
--Flash kernel only.
-Are you one of the unlucky ones to take the OTA and hose your system trying to root and are now on another ROM?
--Flash ROM only.
-Are you on any build after OC8 but not the current OG1?
--Flash the baseband and ROM. Bootloader is optional and not available in this thread as of yet.
Wiping is only necessary if you are coming from a different base, such as AOSP/CM. If you are coming from a touchwiz ROM, wiping isn't needed, but won't hurt.
Changelog:
9/5/15: Initial Release.

Thanks, will flash tomorrow.
Thank you so much freeza!! Patiently waiting for the deodexed version and for the baseband.
Added modified stock kernel v1.1 and baseband.
Freeza if I'm on 5.0.1 still just flashing the baseband may give me better service ? Technically...
Downloading now still waiting on the deodex will play with the stock to see how it is thanks
Ok, flashed rom, kernel, and modem. Took a while to boot but all is running well at the moment. Thanks for supporting our device!!
DeOdex uploading....
What What!!! By far the best developer on a Samsung!! Thank you so much for your hard work brother!! Real Talk, i still have your rom on my Note 3! It runs flawlessly!! XD
Get your DeOdex on, guys! ;D
Thanks so much for this!!! I love the separate edge screen and have no reason to "upgrade" to the Note 5
Thank you freeza NICE WORK WITH THE KERNEL
When I saw you had been requested to come help this phone achieve root I knew great things were going to come to those who waited. I've had other devices where you were there to help gain root and again you came through. I purposely didn't take the OG1 update because I knew in time this device wasn't going to be ignored. IMO it is the best NOTE device out there and it will be mine until they make a NOTE EDGE 2 (With SD card and removable battery). Thank you for the quick response and the hard work you do to make this happen.
Cant get either one of them to boot. Both the odex and the deodex wont boot, they both flash fine and then after the phone reboots it stays on the yellow sprint screen Maybe for up to a minute then reboots and it cycles that way. Never boots. I've tried not wiping/Factory restarting as well as wiping/Factory resetting. Have also tried formatting through TWRP to no avail. Have also tried flashing the kernel and wiping caches after flashing but Nothing is working. Have also flashed the baseband.
Im currently on OF6 if that should matter.
Edit: md5 Sums have also match up. Have downloaded both from my phone and a pc to no avail.
Edit 2: tried both TWRP 2.8.6.0 and 2.8.7.0. Also tried clockworkmod recovery and that didn't work either.
I had success but it took some time. I downloaded the deodexed debloated rom, the kernel, and the baseband. I had a method to how I wanted to do this and here is how i got there.
I was running OC8 rom rooted.
1. I odened the baseband tar file and rebooted. But unfortunately it bootlooped on the initial splash screen (note edge) so
2. I ran TWRP recovery and installed the kernel file. Rebooted phone and it ran fine. I looked at the settings about phone and saw that the baseband and the rom all said OG1 but i had not installed the rom yet. So i figure it was a trick to get the baseband to install. So
3. I went back into recovery. Wiped dalvik cache and regular cache and installed the new rom. It installed fine and i waited the length of time for the initial boot up. But this time as it was "Android is starting" it rebooted and got stuck on the sprint splash screen and kept randomally vibrating. Having the ability to remove the battery
4. Rebooted back into recovery, wiped everything including internal storage, and reinstalled the deodexed rom. It installed fine and went to the initial startup screen where it tries to initialize and it rebooted one time, back to the initialize screen but continued without a hitch.
I currently am running OG1 5.1.1. With root.
At times during setting up the phone it would randomally vibrate for no reason...short bursts...but it hasn't yet again rebooted, restarted, or crashed. It is faster from what i see. Probably because there are almost no google apps installed. I've had to install chrome, youtube, and maps. But all seems fine. My signal and speeds are the same so the baseband didn't do much to change that. But so far so good.
---------- Post added at 11:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:27 AM ----------
I did try to install over my odexed OC8 with this new rom but because there is so much different about the files that are installed IMO formatting the phone was the only way to get this to work.
---------- Post added at 12:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:30 AM ----------
One final thing just in case it isn't known: when you wipe everything in TWRP, excluding external storage, you have to restart the recovery before trying to install a rom. It will say you have no OS installed, but you are restarting the recovery not booting a rom, so that's fine, but you do lose root status when wiping. So the next screen gives you the ability to gain root again, but you have to restart TWRP to do that. In the past i tried to figure out why installing after wiping didn't work, and 99% of the time it was because of that. I also don't like installing new roms over older roms (even if they are the same base (touchwiz to touchwiz)) because i feel I would spend more time troubleshooting why something isn't working instead of just starting over. I find less hassle doing it this way.
I odin baseband .tar file, than reboot it to recovery, and flash kernal and odex room at the same time, saw some red messages when kernel was flashing, than odex rom was next but it was successful when it was done. (I did not know if kernel falsh ok so i reflash kernel again) reboot to system and after the android system updated all its ok. No problems so far.
Oh and i inclided the supersu at the same time i flash kernel, odex rom and supersu.
1. Odin baseband tar file.
2. Flash kernel, odex rom and supersu.
3. Re-flash kernel.
4. Reboot to system and profit.
(Maybe i did un necessary steps, but its working. )
Was running great but have been experiencing Google account and store issues. Tried odex and deodex versions with similar results. Anyone else having issues?

Just starting to have random freezing. And not able to select my apps froms the edge screen, i can only scroll through it. Will remove all the app shorcuts and re-add tham again.
**update 1.
I removed all shorcuts from the edge screen and added them back, all work but some i have to select them a few times before they open.
Maybe i have to reflash, reset, clean and wipe.
**update 2.
Clean install of odex rom, and kernal 1.1.
No more lagg but the edge screen does not work properly. Not able to select and open some of the favorite app shorcuts.
**update 3.
Factory reset, cleaned and wype, odin sprint lollipop update (uf something), downloaded OG1 update. Installed all apps from scratch. And the edge screen does not work. I can scroll, side to side, up and down, but when i select an app it does not open it.
** update (last one)
Foud the code to test the phone hardware.
*#0*# on dial screen. Tested all and it came out good. But i notice that some how the edge screen its not as whide as it used to be ( like its more to the right of the phone) so where i use to touch to select an app its now more to the right emd of the edge, thats why i was able to scroll but not select the app.
Its all good now. Now second round of flashing.
Will give it another try at the room.
Thanks Freeza and sorry about the problems i had and hopefully did not cause anyone from not trying this great work pr yours.
I left all the problems i had so tje next person trying this room does not get discureged from trying. But allways fallow direction.
** last update
After setting and resetting, flashing and un-flashing, rooting and un-rooting. I can finally wrote that all is good. Running latest lollipop 5.1.1 and freeza's new 1.1 kernel, I can reprt that all is smooth as butter.
Thanks for the hard work.
Thank you so much for your hard work Freeza! So glad I'm finally running 5.1.1 on this beast :]
The ROM is working pretty well, but I have noticed that every now and then, the phone will be rather laggy. Turning the screen off and on again seems to fix the issue, making me think that the processor is being throttled while the screen is off (good) but isn't being sped back up when the screen is turned on..sometimes.
It's not a huge deal, but I was wondering if anyone was experiencing the same thing.
No issues here.
Starting on OG1 had to flash bootloader, kernel, deodex rom and supersu to make it stick. Two days now and battery, signal and speed seem improved.
Thanks freeza!

I guess the delay (I've been out of the house all day) worked out for the best in the end I wonder if anyone ever use Knox. For me, it's just a big PIA. Once it's all up and running well, I'll be glad to spread the great news to the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 Google+ community I'm also part of. Some there just updated to official firmware, but they have no clue what they're missing. Especially since this tablet comes with tons of unneeded business apps that's just begging to be killed off.

Knox is an important security feature, however once device rooted, knox gets crazy, starts popping up almost everywhere, therefore it needs to be removed (fully removal or partial removal depends on device configuration).
there are bunch of unneeded samsung apps, and knox apps, etc...once debloated all these, you would see good performance improvement of course.

thanks again for letting me know how to remove knox.:good:
I installed the official firmware using the version of Odin provided and it failed to boot I then installed TWRP, which did work and installed the ROM, which also failed to boot I think this old Odin does not work.
I then installed the official firmware using Odin3_v3.10.7 provided by sammobile.com (it’s now AP instead of PDA) along with the firmware and it booted just fine almost immediately Let it boot up, finished the startup stuff skipping everything, powered down, then back to Download Mode and flashed TWRP using the new Odin3_v3.10.7 and otherwise followed the description and it is all working fine just now :victory: Advance Wipe did give an error about something with E: but a second wipe gave no error. I generally always wipe 2-3 times anyway.
It does say something in red text top left corner on boot about kernel not supporting seandroid, or something like that, but I assume it is due to some necessary changes that were made for the ROM to work.
I do wonder why the provided Odin is an outdated version I strongly recommend using the new one like I did.
It is still early, but everything seems to be working perfectly so far.
Quick app recommendation: The app “GMD Gesture Control * root” is amazingly useful and just one more huge benefit of being rooted. Not being forced to use the buttons is great. It is very awkward when they are halfway covered by a stand or in an odd place depending on how you hold the tablet and they are tiny and using customized swipes and taps is the bomb
There's way more development for the Note version, so you making this is all the more appreciated and I am now off to recommended it to anyone willing to listen

I think it may have been your drivers for samsung, bc I used the odin I provided to flash both uk and us .tar files with no issues or non boots
as for the non seandroid supported that is to deal with the permissive kernel that initially gained root access
Hmm, I didn't install any new drivers between the first and second attempt. If somehow it did that in the background I didn't notice or maybe it's a Win 10 issue. I used to have Kies installed but since my clean upgrade to Windows 10 I haven't bothered to install it. I just had the drivers that auto-install when you plug it in.
Whatever it was, I'm just really happy it works now. I've now spread the great news to the 90 member 12.2 Pro Tab Google+ community and the general Pro Tab one with 698 members so more can enjoy your little gem.

win 10 prob im running win 7
I now feel like a complete noob lol. I can't get TWRP to flash for some reason. I'm on windows 10 using the newest version of odin. I went to teamwin to download the img.tar. I've tried different ways to do this. I download then go to pda click on my recent files and click on the winrar zip and start. It fails. If I extract the zip to a folder it comes up as a recovery.img which can't be detected in odin. I add the .tar and it pops up fine but then fails or freezes for awhile and fails. I've installed trwp and roms too many times and never had this issue. What am I doing wrong? Help!!! Lol

Good to hear it's working for ya. It's not a Win 10 issue, at least if using Odin3_v3.10.7 and running it as administrator (as one always should imo). There's no PDA option. Then you were using old Odin. In the newer editions it's called AP unless you just used the old terminology.
Also noob is not a newb. Read this, it's very funny and accurate: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Noob
Bonus info:
I tried the unofficial Xposed made specifically for Samsung. It didn't work. Only needed to flash the Uninstaller zip, clean caches and reboot (but I had a nandroid ready just in case). Damn Samsung and their fiddling with ART. I miss Xposed, but you can't have it all. Loving the ROM. I had these super annoying reboots always a bit more than an hour apart at times, same apps as now. Could be fixed firmware, no Xposed or a combo. Either way it's great to be rid off.

download the one from the link on the bottom of my first post it works. remember to install the alpha 4 xposed app(make sure no modules are selected) flash wanam xposed framework arm version(not regular xposed framework) in recovery wait 5-8 min to boot and done
also do a search to see if the modules you are using are lollipop compatible because not all of them are
and if the modules are not lollipop compatible and you have them activated upon reboot you will bootloop
Yep, Xposed works now and now on to finding compatible modules. The xposed you listed was the one I used but I probably had some restored stuff from Titanium and/or didn't install the apk first. Don't remember. Note to self: Don't flash anything when you've only slept a couple of hours the night before.
I ran the new Aroma installer. I did end up with all that business bloatware despite deselecting it in Aroma, but that could just be from letting the restore thing run with pretty much everything during setup (mistake), I'm not sure. My bad. I've just uninstalled it all since using Titanium so it's all good now.
Damn, the first post looks totally pro now. You're learning fast my friend

the site is going through maintenance- just wait until monday when it is finished
All Samsung odin files are md5 files. when you put them in odin. odin first hashchecks the file before flashing. The first things it tries to flash is the bootloader and other important bits. which take about 3 to 4 seconds. that fails if the files and phone do not match. its all very safe.
MD5 doesn't guarantee that this is an unmodified image, it only guarantees the integrity of the download.
I flashed the Sammobile version of this yesterday, so far so good. I simply flashed it without wiping and rebooted, and all my apps, homescreen, etc, were still intact. Wifi calling was also back, it had disappeared on the previous build, no idea why. I then booted back into download mode and flashed TWRP & SU. Took about 15 minutes in total.
I'm currently on CM13. What's the quickest/easiest method to get the modem update?
I have a nandroid of stock. I suppose I could restore that, use ODIN on PC to flash stock recovery, update firmware, and flash back to TWRP.
Is there a faster way or a method that doesn't require a computer? Does Mobile ODIN work for this?
Nandroid, download the update from Sammobile and flash it with Odin, install TWRP, flash CM13, don't wipe. Don't know if mobile works. You don't need stock recovery. /data is not touched by the update, so no need to wipe or restore it.
Instead of flashing CM13, I could just restore the system from the nandroid, right? I have a lot of system apps that I would need to set up again otherwise.
Sure would be nice if we could flash just the modem update with Mobile Odin.
Yes. Why do you run CM13?

I had been waiting for bugs to be worked out of 14.1, and for xposed to support it. I've decided that 13 is now too far behind in security updates, so I've just installed 14.1. Hoping I don't have to go without xposed for too long.
I should have been more specific in my question! Why run CM at all rather than a debloated Samsung rom? I used to run CM in the early days, but gave up a long time ago because of the problems with proprietary drivers. There's always something that doesn't work, or doesn't work as well as a rom based on stock.
All the features work for me without problems on CM13. The phone is a bit snappier too.
I gave up on stock because TouchWiz is too limiting. I uses the flashlight a lot, and with TW you have to put a shortcut on the homescreen. On CM, I can put a shortcut on the lockscreen, or swipe down the notifications bar while on the lockscreen and use a notification button. I also leave my screen on for extended times when doing things like cooking. CM has had the notification button, for years, that lets you change the screen timeout.
I don't think TW has a single feature I actually use.
Anyway, I'm back to CM13 for now. CM14 still has a few bugs I don't like. Primarily, a bug were I sound really far away on a phone call.
You just don't know how to use TW! The notification shortcuts are configurable, you can move the flashlight button to the top, and it also works on the lockscreen. With xposed, you can also change the size of the icons and add more of them to the initial drop-down.
I'm aware that the notification shortcuts are configurable. The flashlight wasn't even an option as a notification shortcut or lockscreen button on stock MM 6.0.1.
It is on mine. All four versions of 6.01 I've used, including a modified rom.
