PowerAMP with the V20 AMAZING!!!! - LG V20 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Takes that Hi-Fi Audio and Quad DAC to another level... Check out PowerAMP if you have not already tune the Bass and such accordingly but damn 10% Audio for me and I hear everything like it at 35% AMAZING! Plugged into my 5 Speaker Audio System with my SubWoofer AMAZING! TRY THIS APP FOR THE ULTIMATE AUDIO EXPERIENCE ON YOUR V20!

Ive been using poweramp for 4 years. Its pretty much the ONLY good music player app. The only one that comes close to it is player pro. Def worth the 5$ for the pro version.

i bought poweramp like 4 years ago, but i never use it anymore bc of google music. maybe i should just put all my music on my card again and use it. i don't have any headphones that would trigger high impedence mode though

I used to use PowerAmp all the time on my other phones but stopped in the V20 because gapless playback doesn't work for me.

Was connected to my 5 Speaker setup and the Sub I usually use headphones with the same config and it works fine however I recommend no higher than 15% volume or your ears will explode lol

I used the power amp with my 598 se and holy hell its like night and day. If I push the bass to 75 you can feel the air pushing from the drivers. I run at 50 for bass and treble and the sound is awesome. Thanks for suggesting power amp with this phone.

Not a Problem just picked it up myself a few days ago after messing with it for a couple of mins I bought it and It has change my Audio Experience with this phone like you would not believe... Makes the V20 feel like a Dream!

This may be a dumb question, but is there a way to use Poweramp's EQ and audio settings for Spotify? I love the sound of Poweramp but all my tunes are on spotify :/

Does the "beats" equalizer work with Pandora?

I listen to Pandora a lot and I plan on getting this phone tomorrow. I just was wondering if the equalizer works with Pandora and how the equalizer works in general with the ear buds. Thanks.
The EQ works for the entire audio output of the phone through the headphone jack, so it would affect pandora as well I would assume.

I've read reviews that say the Beats Audio is only available in the HTC audio app.
I believe Beats is only for the HTC music app, other apps will not have beats audio enabled.
just use Equalizer
https://market.android.com/details?...sImNvbS5zbWFydGFuZHJvaWRhcHBzLmVxdWFsaXplciJd
It does not work in Pandora. Only in the stock apps like the HTC music player. Maybe it will be added to other apps in the future, but I doubt it since it's rather specialized to one manufacturer of phones right now. I have heard of very good EQ apps like those posted in this thread though. I really don't think the Beats EQ setting is so special that it can't be replicated pretty easily.

I never listen to music on my phone with headphones anyway, just through the aux on my car stereo. even then I set eq through the stereo anyway. headphone wise I just use them with my ipod touch when I'm at the gym.
Picked mine up Monday.
Beats only activates when playing through the HTC music app and Headphones (any) are present. Sound is more Robust with beats activated, and much louder.
I was surprised at how much louder the audio became. Many times I've longed for more head room on my iPod or phone. Please be warned at High Volumes beats can cause hearing loss. I hope Dr. Dre and HTC put a disclaimer out there somewhere.
Maybe they only tested the software with the iBeats included.
I will checkout Pandora, never used it on mobile since it was not supported well on WM6.5. I did checkout Slacker, and it was the worst sounding crap I've ever heard. Anything that resembles bass has severe clipping. Haven't tried the beats earphones yet as I have a nice pair of Ultimate Ears Superfi 5 Pros, as well as a pair of Klipsch image S4's.

Actually it does work. Beats Audio is activated as soon as you plug in headphones. What you cannot do is control the EQ Curve in Pandora so you receive the default "other" setting.

Rezound's ibeats earphones blowing out over because too much bass?

Thanks to dsp manager, I up the the bass real high when headsets are plugged in and thanks to the ibeats being able to produce high amounts of bass, my music on the phone sounds amazing!
I was wondering if anyone's ibeats have blown out because the bass was set too high? If not, I may be the first to report this in the future lol, hope not.
I have heard them pop with some frequencies when the bass was up, but I have maxed them out and I don't think they will blow. Hey since the headphones came with the phone are they covered under the year warranty? Or do they have one from monster?
I have to make this quick. If you want more info send me a message.
The only thing that will blow any speaker is distortion which you will hear.
Never turn the volume up all the way. At this setting the sound will likely not be clean and clear but it has nothing to do with volume. Most audio sources will distort at full volume. If you want it louder use an app like PowerAmp and increase the preamp output instead.
If its still not loud enough get a headphone amp! I have one and the iBeats will go so loud it actually hurts my ears after a few minutes.

Don't quote me on this but I remember reading that they are covered.
Yes, they are covered. I was having problems with the control module on the headphones - the play'pause/talk button, specifically. I called Verizon and they told me I could take them to any official Verizon store - not the "authorized dealers, but an actual VZW location - and get them replaced.
The second pair works beautifully but I'm planning on selling them. I'm going to pick up a pair of the Beats Tour earbuds, which will also work with the phone.
And one last item of curiosity - I plugged in my Shure se110 headphones to my Rezound last week and, to my surprise, Beats Audio fired up. Pretty cool.

Using the sgs2 with a high-end headphone.

I've been considering for a while to buy a good headphones and I've decided to buy an audio technica ath-m50. The only thing that is bothering me is the yamaha audio chip. If I buy those headphones, I'll be using them most of the time on my sgs2.
Will the yamaha chip make the ath-m50 sound like a cheap low-end headphone?
If you happen to own an ath-m50 I wold really appreciate it if you could measure the hollow of the earth cups, diagonally and horizontally maybe. I've read that people with large ears may find them uncomfortable. The length of my ears are just below 7cm(I don't care, they are small, my mum told me that)
I've read supercurio's analysis of the audio chip but my question still remains.
Waiting eagerly for any response.
Get an iPod nano- excellent sound quality and a great price. I hate using my GSII for music though Poweramp is a great app

Well, if you really want to use a pair of high end headphones with the galaxy sII, get a portable amp like i did. I got a fiio e7, and it powers the ath-m50just fine. Listening to them straight out of the GSII audio jack wont let them utilise their full power. And dont get an iPod if you want really high quality audio. :-/ (Just a suggestion )

I've thought of this, the only problem is finding a store that sells the audio technica ath-m50. I live in London I'm sure there is plenty of stores.
However this would not be much help because I'm not very experienced with high end headphones, so probably almost anything will sound good to me.
If you want to listen to boom boom music with heavy bass then the SGS2 is inadequate .Expensive headphones are not going to do that much .
However as a user who does not have any boom boom music i find stock player headphones or slightly upmarket low end Sennheiser headphones fine .
Power Amp for me strangely lowers sound output level .
jje
I've the same experience as JJEgan with Power Amp. It seems to boost dynamic range at the sacrifice of overall volume.
For getting the best out of high-end headphones, you could always try Neutron Music Player from Android Market. It claims to use its own "32-bit audio music rendering core", although it's debatable whether this makes a difference, given that uncompressed CDs only have 16-bits per sample. People seem to like it, though.
Just recently I noticed something when listening to music using Poweramp with a headphone.
When you click on something such as the app drawer, the volume of the music that you are listening to increases for fraction of a second then it goes back to normal.
It can be very annoying when you are using the phone while listening.

Tried Neutron at the weekend, and these old ears couldn't see - OK, hear - what the fuss is about. No difference from Poweramp with a very unscientific ABX on my Sennheiser IE8s.
Definitely the worst UI I've seen on any music player though - so hideous that it should win awards.

Senn HD25-1s and Ety ER4-Ps both sound fine straight out of the headphone socket.
Using poweramp, without any eq or tone control tweaks, just ~30% crossfeed.
I read all the reports of crappy audio on the GS2, so when I got mine and tried it I was very pleasantly suprised.
Whereabouts in Poweramp settings is crossfeed...Didn't realise Poweramp supported it ?

[Q] What exactly is Beats?

I have the Beats mod in my cellphone, the audio is greatly improved from my experience (I am using a Motorola s10-HD Stereo Headset).
And I've read it's a disguised EQ with preset settings that uses the Beats logo.
For me it definitely sounds better than the Dolby Mobile and SRS EQ variants.
I want to know what type of boosts it has so I could try to mimic some EQ settings in my iTunes and programs like that to get a similar audio quality.
Side Note: I wouldn't think my Bluetooth headset would deliver good sound, but it blows my iPhone headset out of the water.

LG V30 Quad DAC issue, please help

Hello there,
I bought a LG V30 on the used market a few months ago and was using Bluetooth headphones for the majority of the time. Now I switched to wired headphones again and while the Quad DAC does offer a better sound reproduction generally, I've noticed an issue:
There's always a bit of static/buzzing in the background, especially noticeable on lower volume levels. Has anyone ever had a similar problem and knows a fix or would someone try to reproduce the issue?
I'd be happy if you'd report if you face the same issue:
1. Use wired headphones, enable HiFi mode
2. Play this -> https://youtu.be/exeRki77OMY
3. Start off at 0 volume and go up just one step at a time
When I do that, I can hear quite loud static buzzing on volume step one which decreases in loudness with every step (and the frequency of the buzzing also changed somehow).
H930 European / Stock Android 9 if that's important.

Which headphones/IEMs are you using? And which source and player are you using?
If using very sensitive IEMs, and if you're playing 16/44 (CD quality) tracks, you may be hearing the artifacts caused by the Android Mixer. Those are particularly audible at very low levels.
Try UAPP or Neutron from Play Store. They are both able to bypass the Mixer.
You can read more about this Mixer mess in the thread linked below:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/bypassing-mixer-48khz-upsampling-16-44-t3933075

When I'm playing a 30hz sine wave through the test version of UAPP I actually get no noise floor on lower volume levels. Interesting.
With my current Audio Technica CKR70iS it's a really severe problem in other apps and music players though. On volume steps 1-5 it's not only "noticeable", it makes up half the audio coming out my headphones.
I guess I have to ditch Phonograph as my standard music player now and buy UAPP or Neutron...

At 19ohms impedance and 108 dB/mW sensitivity, I guess CKR70iS would reveal the Mixer artifacts -- although it's usually more with Balanced Armature IEMs that have even higher sensitivity.
But with the noise being as pronounced as you describe, I would guess that your player uses DVC (Digital Volume Control). That could cause a lot of noise at low volume levels.
The trick is the player has to convert 16/44 to 24/44 (adding zero bits) since the V30 cannot pass 16/44 directly to the DAC (so-called Direct path). That's what UAPP and Neutron do. PowerAmp can do it too, but you have to configure it manually to "resample" 16/44 to 24/44. And then you have to remember to disable that when playing HiRes.
HiRes (including anything 24-bit) plays unmolested from most apps, including LG Music and even Google Music. Qobuz and Amazon HD resample to 48 Khz no matter what you do (last I checked). Tidal is OK with HiRes (which they deliver as MQA) but all Tidal 16/44 tracks (non-MQA) must be played through UAPP. Spotify you can just forget it.
UAPP is the best $8 any audiophile V30 user can spend. Some people don't like its user interface. I personally like it -- but hate the Neutron UI. Everybody is different in that regard.
