lots of apps are available in playstore for dpi changing.
Yeah, but apps mess up icons...better to use adb or build.prop editor
Use easy dpi changer from playstore.
add/modify ro.sf.lcd_density=x in build.prop in case the dpi change messes up icons and images in apps.

When I used Cognition X2, there was a way under "Display" in settings to change the system font. I don't see that in Cyanogenmod. Do I have to use an app for this or is there something hidden deep in settings I can use?
Thanks in advance.

I'm wonder the exact same thing. It seems there is no font setting in cyanogenmod anywhere. Some are recommending an app called font changer which you can download from the market. Yet this app don't come with font so you have to download the fonts as well. I haven't tried this so far.
You can flash fonts in cwm if they are the proper zip file

Is it possible to change the DPI on stock or Sammy based roms rooted or is this only possible on CM9 AOSP based roms. I would like to keep a Samsung based rom for all the unique apps Samsung have developed for the S3 but I cant get away with the huge icons and DPI. CM9 based looks so much better so I am torn between the two.
DPI can be changed in the build prop on rooted roms via rom explorer .
Or in a custom rom Samsung build .

in /system/ find build.prop
open in text editor
find this
ro.sf.lcd_density = ''
and change the digits to any of u like
dont forget, changing the dpi in sammy roms will have the usual probs like unscaled dialer and a poor theming for camera. setting the dpi too low will crash the stock launcher, so install a secondary launcher before starting

Just tested on my S3 with stock ROM + root and it works. Just as a note, you should have a keyboard other then the standard Samsung, it keeps freezing over and over until you change it to another one.

Hi,
I tried changing /system/build.prop ro.sf.lcd_density to 260, rebooted device and nothing happened.
I am using leaked 4.2.2. I double checked and build.prop really changed.
Can anyone help me with this?

for rooted phones, flash the xposed framework.. there app settings module (i think) enables DPI settings.. (you may need to search for the module..)
I tried to set dpi to 300 and it works very well on sammy 4.3 ML2 rom. Dialer looks weird as mentioned above, but I use pixelphone app and issue is solved for me.
I'm trying to change the DPI from 320 to 240, but everytime the phone wont boot. any ideas? im using android revolution hd 9.0.0 with stock android jb launcher. ofc i made a backup, well my phone is running, but i still want to change the dpi. i used dpi density modder

Ya..it will work..just enable root privileges..open build.prop with text editor ..make changes and save...then reboot..
Hi,
I want to change DPI on my I9300 with latest stock 4.3 Samsung ROM (rooted) - XXUGMJ9 so I edited the /system/build.prop file using Solid Explorer and changed there ro.sf.lcd_density to 245. After reboot I didn't notice any change. I tried the Texdroider DPI changer but it's already saying that my DPI is 245. Any ideas what I'm missing? Do I have to install/flash anything else?
Thanks.
There can be 2 lines ro.sf.lcd_density in your build.prop maybe u missed one.

LOL, you were right, I changed only one line but there are two lines in the build.prop. Thanks!
hi guys
is it possible?
I mean.. i used several app on playstore
but some didn't work and some caused soft brick..
Do you have some hints? :fingers-crossed:
edit build.prop in system folder using a file manager with root privileges,
search for this line --> ro.sf.lcd_density=240, change the value as you like,
set permission to -rw-r--r-- and reboot.
to obtain more space you need to decrease the value (ex: ro.sf.lcd_density=192)
Do you know supported densit-ies in LG L9 P760 4.1.2 ?
If i set for ex. density 192, i still has 4x4 layount on home screen.

you can use a third party launcher (Nova, Apex...) or try this mod for stock LG launcher
I propose you custom launcher like Nova or Apex. You can change grid as you wish
