I am pretty sure this is a warranty claim but I wanted to run it by the community. Excuse any poor typing I'm literally on a mountain right now.
I think some moisture got into the bottom port. My s2 always thinks it's plugged into a computer. I get samsung kies connection prompts when I get into the os and battery usage tracker shows the phone as charging when I look at usage with wild spikes up and down. Can't toggle USB dev mode because it always tells me to remove USB cable. Luckily I got a tibackup just a few days ago that I offloaded to my memory card.
When I power it down I immediately get the green battery showing it's charging. In a few seconds it starts flashing between that and a battery with a temperature gauge and a exclaimation point.
Only way to get her to turn on is by plugging into a power source and holding down power.
Did a factory reset same problem. Won't be able to reset the kernel till I get home in 10 days.
Any ideas or straight back to phones 4 u warranty claim? If water damage then insurance claim ( loved my baby. Thanks

Get some rubbing alcohol solution (Isopropyl alcohol) from your local pharmacy.
Pour it into a bowl.
Remove the battery cover.
Remove the battery.
Dip your phone into the bowl, and swirl it around.
Place on an air conditioner to have the alcohol and water sucked out from the dehydrated cool air conditioned air for overnight. If it is winter, put near the heater which also has dehydrated warm air.
Place battery into phone.
Turn phone on.
See if you have the problem again.

I'm having this same exact issue - I've even had my phone unplugged for about 2 hours, yet when I go to battery status, it says it's only been on battery for 2 seconds... how did your warranty replacement go?
There was somebody on a Dutch forum who has the same problem.
His phone was wet.
And if it is water damage, i hope for you that you have warranty and dont have big water problems ...

had it sealed in a ziplock bag, so no outside water got in - perhaps it got too hot in the bag or there was moisture in the bag when it was sealed? (I should've put in some silica gel or something..)

Sorry for going MIA.
Basically I returned this to phones4u, sent it in, and they processed a warranty replacement. They didnt say anything luckily about water damage but I think its because on a rainy day some water got into the bottom. From what I could tell they cleaned up the connector at the bottom with alcohol or something - it was spic and span when i got it back and the phone worked ok.
Side note, I recieved it and saw they scrached up my phone pretty good so i complained and sent it in a second time. Recieved it and the scratches were gone, but to do this they did a new screen replacement.
THe new screen had a bright red stuck pixel. I thought I could live with it but it drove me nuts as my original screen was perfect. So i went back to phones 4 u and sent it in a third time, this time they're saying they will just give me a swap. So although the problem was fixed a mess ensued and now i'm sitting around waiting for my "swap" and next surprises with dealing with them.
THey have been ok though I'm almost sure there is water damage on that phone but they dont seem to have picked up on it, i hope i can get it swapped and then dont have to worry about water damage again.

2 days ago i fell in the water and so did my Galaxy S3 :crying: . It didn't went on anymore bla bla. I started opening the phone and blow dried everything. It now went on but took 2 minutes to get passed the first standard galaxy s3 logo you always see on startup. Once it was up and running i noticed i had no touch.
My girlfriend has an Galaxy S3 and she was kind enough to borrow hers so i could find out if the digitzer might be messed up because i had no touch. And thank god the whole screen and digitzer are still okay. The touch still works when placing my lcd (+digitzer) on her Galaxy S3 mainboard.
So does anyone have a clue how i can fix this slow start up and no touch? Could it be that some parts are fried or still wet from inside some chips? (even after blowing it with hot heat for a long time). Or do i need to clean it with special liquid that also cleans some corrosion? If there is no sollution to all of this, might there be an adress where i can buy a new mainboard/ logicboard/ motherboard or maybe someone with a broken galaxy screen (since my screen is a 100% okay)?
Please help! I'd be really thankfull!

You'll never believe this! All the methods did not work but i knew with one test the screen with touch was still okay... The mainboard was malfunctioning. Soo i baked the mainboard in the oven 2 times at 200 C degrees for 10 minutes... and now its freaking working again!!!!!!
1. find out if the phone dropped in salt or normal water.
2. open the whole device and let it dry for 2 days in a lot of rice.
3. if still not working put the mainboard in the oven voor 10 minutes at 200 degrees (celcius).
3. if you havent smashed your phone because of frustration it should be working!!!

Alright, so me being the idiot I am dropped my Note II into water. Now it was only most of the way submerged, with the spen slot sticking out. I did manage to save it while the screen was still on and pulled the battery. For the past 2 days, I've had it layered with silica packets (the kind you find in shoe boxes) and paper towels in a plastic baggies.
For the first day, I could put my battery in and get the screen to come on, albiet once I tried to reinsert my sim card, the phone promptly died again. As of late, however, the screen hasn't been coming on and I am getting no startup vibration, only the red light in the proximity sensor flashes once.
You guys have any ideas to attempt to recover the phone? Or is it a lost cause? I'm already up on the Asurion 2 phone replacement policy thing, so I have no more insurance for my beloved Note II.

Unfortunately the promblem may have been with 1) the submersion and 2) with you putting the battery in before it was completely dried out.
If there was still moisture in it the battery flowing would have cause accelerated oxidation on exposed contacts. Also, the moisture decals are surely the wrong color so even if you got a warranty replacement you would be paying $200 once it was reviewed. If you fess up it went swimming with Asurion and already did 2 replacements then you may very well be screwed.
***!!! NO RECOMMENDED !!!*** but if you have no other option via Warranty or insurance and it is still wont operate in another day or two:
Remove Battery.
Complete Dissassemble. Youtube for instructions.
Using microfiber and distilled water clean all electronic contacts and sockets.
Submerge logic board in **DISTILLED** water and d step above again wiping all components with microfiber or qtip wrapped in coffee filter to remove oxidation.
Wrap in coffee filter and rice or silica for 2-3 days
Re-Assemble and pray.
This is not for the faint of heart and is a complete and total last resort.
I saved an iphone 5 my daughter sent swimming in a toilet this way

The "special" cleaning solution I used on my iphone **AFTER** the distilled water wash was 99% isopropyl alcohol. I used a non fiber swap and wiped down all the anodes/cathodes and everything that look tarnished or oxidized . It evaporates on application nearly instantly and pulls any oils/ grime and generally conductive goo off.
This is just my advice after a similar situation with an iPhone. It is NOT easy or quick. If you can afford buying a replacement I would buy a new device or if you have the patience to try this and have nothing left to lose then this worked for me. My daughter has been using the iPhone for a few months without a single issue since. Despite it taking a bath in a toilet of questionable cleanliness and unable to boot right after.
AGAIN: This advice is for the patient and careful. If you have any other options you would be best suited to follow them before this course.

Probably the RAM or whatever hardware - BIOS? - to show up the Model + Model number before the Boot Logo until the Firmware did `'already´ load still works, (very easy simple hardware) does still work properly.
But the Firmware load failed or the Voltage Management could possibly fàil too!. The same thing with the Model and it's number happ(ē)ned with a Galaxy SIII of one of my

Interresting Story
^Nanocoated Nokia 6220 Classic Survived since ~²Yrs Underwater, still works! (I switch on every 3 Months or so, battery around 60-70% still left since two years. I expected the Battery to require a charge every 5 Months in rare use cases and Discharges very slowly when not in use, i expected 8 Months with non use!. Now i did turn on the 6220 every all 3 months on and after 2 years, WONDER! STILL AROUND 60-70 % LEFT!) Who the hell made nanocoating? Thank you, whoever you are! I did the same with a solar calculator (eBay.de ArticleNumber: can't remember right now, i'll post if i'm able to.)
I know this has happened to me before. It would only get to the Model Number Screen and would go no further. The phone was not completely drenched, just the outsides, so I think water got into the power button and it made a contact, since it would keep turning on and off like that. I was very lucky since after 2 hours it worked with no problem, although I recommend you never turn it on even if it seems that it works since water could short-circuit it. Personally, I left it to dry out with the battery and the S-Pen out. Charging worked perfectly afterwards.

You may want to look on Swappa.com, I have bought several devices on there and just bought a mint note2 for $150 for myself as a spare, it's very nice and rootable.
I wrote this because I'm about sending the phone back to the service center for warranty the 3rd time in less than 2 months of use. And as having been owner of some Sony devices (phone and laptop) for 4 years, I really got p*ssed off because of this "flagship" phone.
1 week after buying the phone, I realized that its battery drained way too fast. The service center agreed that this was manufacturer fault and did a fix for me.
When I took the phone back and started using, it constantly reminded me to Close covers: Please close the external connector covers to secure waterproofing (see attachment). I began to worry as all the covers were really closed. I put it in a water basin, and no doubt that the water got inside: back camera and microSD port were full of moisture. The service center said there was problem with the flaps and agreed to fix this for me. I even requested them to print the waterproof test result.
Since then, I have just taken the phone back again for 3 days. The water still got inside after putting the phone in water, making the screen flickering real bad. I opened the flaps and there was no water inside the SIM and microSD ports, so I'm pretty sure the water has found another way in.
The indicator paper of my phone is still white (no red-ish or pink-ish). Now I'm packing the phone, along with the "passed" waterproofing test result and send them all back to the service center to see what these guys should answer.
* At the beginning I was really fascinated by the commercials from Sony. And after these experiences, I think they are all lies.
There isn't any sensor for the flaps. The phone only knows you've opened them because you have done one of the following. Either charge it, remove Sim or remove memory card.
Just to dismiss any misinformation.
My less than 2-years old Mi Pad 4 has recently died. It's done and dusted. But I am still curious....
1. The charging started being unreliable after about 9 months of daily use. I replaced the charging port. Since then, I had to replace it every 2 months or so! Surely, it can't be a normal behaviour of a tablet. I couldn't really work out what was the cause. Has anyone experienced the same?
2. Being so fed up with it, I decided to replace the battery. Found it was so impossibly tightly glued... then stupidly managed to poke it with a metal tool, resulting in burning my fingers, burning a patch of my floor, and killing the tab completely. The room got filled with toxic smoke. Sheer horror. So please don't make the mistake I made. I have in the past managed to replace a 'non-replaceable' battery in another device, but this one is really non-replaceable!!!
