Download Shortcut Master Lite.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite
Open, click 3 dots in top right.
Click Search.
Type "apn".
Scroll and look for: com.lge.hiddenmenu.ModemProtocol.ApnUnlock
Click on it and launch it.
Click on "Unlock APN"
Click the back button to go back to the previous screen.
Scroll and look for: com.lge.hiddenmenu.ModemProtocol.ApnSettings
Click on it and launch it.
On Sprint it will say Access Points.
Then it has Sprint LTE Internet.
Click it and scroll down to Apn type.
Add ,dun to the end of everything on that line. (Example: default, mms, supl, hipri, dun)
Click the 3 dots in the top right and click save.
This works on my rooted 997 on Sprint. Might be pretty universal for everyone. Let me know.

good call, im decompiling the system.settings and the hidden menu,
i was able to get hotspot and roaming controls back, as well as some other stuff im working on releasing this week,
thank you for the tut!
May be kind of a dumb question, but what's the difference between this and regular wifi tethering..??
It's just a shortcut app to get into the settings required to enable it to bypass provisioning bits and goodies. So it's the same as the tethering as normal, but uses the app download, to edit the files to turn it on properly and all that. That's the short version.
wow the stuff you can access using this little app is great,
already enabled a ton of stuff they didnt include, like soft reset holding power/volume down ( why did they not have that on? like its fun to take my case off when i need to get it unfrooze lol)!!
Weird...i cant edit that line

Missed a step in the OP. Added in:
Scroll and look for: com.lge.hiddenmenu.ModemProtocol.ApnUnlock
Click on it and launch it.
Click on "Unlock APN"
Sorry for the confusion.
If you search power. And launch the power.main should be 1st one.. After launch Its near the bottom. Says vol down plus power. Enable it.
I have followed all steps on my 997 and can now get the hotspot to turn on and devices connect but there is no data. Any ideas? Am I missing something?
I'm on H918 with TMO. The settings were very similar. I did a speed test tethering my tablet before following the OP, and a test after. It could be coincidence, but after the edit it was faster, telling me there may have been some throttling. before the edit.
Also, with the TMO phone, band selection is important. Frequently at home my phone switches to band 12 at one end of the house because band 4 is weaker, but band 4 is much faster. Manually switching it back to band 4 involves entering *#546368#*918# in the dialer. Creating a favorite in shortcut master takes me right to the hidden menu. Nice! Thanks @pdaddy !
I get thr, you've used your high speed tethering allorment for this month, tethering speed will be reduced to 128kbps
Im not surprised, but i cant find this on my Verizon VS995... Stupid verizon...
Worked on my device perfectly. The menu items were different on my rom but it only took a few seconds to figure it out. Thanks for sharing.

i did this and read every other thread concerning wifi hotspot/tethering but i not only is the "APN type" unavailable in the first place, i cannot edit any of the APN settings without a service code. there's a popup when i hit "edit" instead of "view" after launching the hidden menu from shortcut master.
anyone have this service code or know how to get around this?

I can not promise this will work since I don't have a Sprint device, but if you're rooted you could install my Full-screen Caller ID mod which include an APN unlock option in the app which is installed when you flash the mod.
Check the screenshots very last pictures, it shows the advanced menu options. You should be able to use them no problem.
The mod will for sure work for you since I had 2 of the devs here that have sprint devices confirm that everything works.
Good luck

I was using my phone today and was making a lot of calls to the same place and was really annoyed on how there is no fast way to redial your last dialed number.
What im thinking would be really helpful for nexus one users is to have a long press on the back button be a shortcut to call the last number dialed.
Now, i dont have much programing skills for this kind of job so i was wondering if i can get a developer willing to look into this.
Thanks!
or maybe force close app?
I agree. the return button should have a function to force stop from an application. or I need to do it everytime in Manage Applications settings page..

Actually there is a quick way to redial. If you look at the modified Phone.apk that Cyanogen uses in his ROMs, I believe its by cytown not too sure, he has an options in your settings where if you hit the call button it will retrieve the last dialed number

My thoughts exactly.
I dunno if either option would utilize the back button well. I mean there's an app on the market called force close and it puts a shortcut in your notification panel. Just pull down the panel and hit the force close button and ur done. Though this is not accessible with apps/games that take up the whole screen, it will work with majority of the apps. I agree that it should have a function but not sure what exactly. What about an undo function? Maybe if u unintentionally paste text or delete text, just press the button to undo. Keep sharing your ideas.

To redial, just hit the green phone button again without looking up a number.
POOF the numbers there..
Same on all phones, just hit talk again and it works.. (FROYO 2.2 confirmed)
Why not just make it remapped like we did on the G1 with the Camera button where its anything we want? It shouldn't be that different from how we did it to the G1 anyways
bright idea!
looking forward to it

Neither of these will work on the Nexus. It has neither a call button nor a camera button. Best we can do is the search button. And there are already apps on the Market that allow you to set the search button to anything you want. So all we need is an apply that, on launch, queries the call log and sends an intent to dial that number to your default dialer app.

yes, but you still have to go to launcher, press phone, then press the green on-screen button...
I think the OP's goal is to have a shorter way to access functions that are buried for lack of hardware buttons

No worries, program an app IMO.
Agreed 100%
I would LOVE to see the back button applied as a force close function...
Or am I still going to have to go back to the home screen and tap the "End All Tasks" widget?
OP: Great idea in a slightly skewed direction... I think more users would benefit from a force close function.
Would it actually be a good idea? I have to say the back button is the one I probably spam, and I wouldnt want to force close my ebuddy etc just because it didnt register the gap between my multiple back pressings.
Some programs already build "exiting" by back button in. (e.g. tvguide, astro).
Having a force close function so readily available will just introduce more headaches to applications that use states heavily.
I've used Widgetsoid widgets for years, but on my new Razr Maxx, the widgets to separately turn on/off the 2g, 3g and 4g connections just don't work. Most of the other toggles (e.g. WIFI, Bluetooth, etc.) work just fine.
I live in a city with great 4G, but my work often takes me to farflung places where cell connections are spotty. I find that my battery life improves if I can control these things. For example, if I'm not downloading a bunch of stuff, it's best to leave 4G turned off. If I'm in a very rural county, the only reliable signals that I'll find are 2G. In that instance, I save battery if the 3G isn't constantly trying to connect to a distant tower (or worse, getting a flaky connection that drops frequently).
Does anyone know how to tweak Widgetsoid to make this work reliably? If if not through Widgetsoid, what about some alternative widgets that do work?
Android (Google) doesn't allow any apps to get the rights for toggle between 2G,3G etc.
They only can Link you to the Menu.

Thanks for the tip, but this is not what I was hoping to find. If I were using Gingerbread, it would only save me a few keystrokes or taps compared to just going through the Settings Menu. I'll try the toggle that you suggested and if it is "smart enough" to do the job under ICS.
FYI... under Ice Cream Sandwich, the System Settings to turn off 4G is hard to find (see below).

LTE OnOff takes you right to that screen without having to remember some cooky number to dial, its really not that hard hell unless you disable the splash screen it even tells you what to select, honestly its quicker then GB, interms of what you had to do there, the downside is after each reboot you have to remember to go back and reset it.

This mod will remove the on screen 3 dot menu bar and restore the Option under Settings/Display, Gestures, and Buttons for Back Button Options, letting you choose Press for back, press and hold for menu (as shows in the screenshot). This mod will not enable Menu functionality in Prism (the sense launcher). This will work on Stock/Rooted, odexed or deodexed. Flash in recovery, wiping dalvik and cache afterwards is necessary. Contains a slightly modified Settings and build.prop with a line added to remove the 3 dot menu bar - built from ATT's 1.26.502.10
Also included is a mod to enable the back button settings, but leave the 3 dot menu bar. And one will go back to stock Settings. Note that this is based off of the ATT software like stated above. If you've flashed this to another build, and you want to go back to stock, you need your Settings.apk. If you're stock ROM was odexed, you also need Settings.odex. Put them both (with 7zip on a PC) in /system/app/ of the bk2stock zip and flash away. Not a bad idea to also use your stock build.prop if you're going back

Yea the 3 dot was permelanently removed by this mod.. no configuring it, so if you turn the back button menu setting off, you won't have any menu other than the in app menu that has been the android standard since Ics. I'll provide another .zip this afternoon that leaves the 3 dot menu but also enables the back button setting

This mod shouldn't remove anything other than the 3 dot menu bar. The debloat script should remove the kindle app, since Amazon let ATT call it ATT Amazon Kindle, it became ATT Bloat

Found the solution to adding the wifi toggle:
1 Get SqlLite Editor
2.Goto Setting Storage |System |
3. Edit field "notification_panel_active_app_list"
4. add Wifi
5. Hit save and reboot
You can also change the order items appear here.
Edit: Can also add WiFiHotspot and AirGesture
Edit2 :Blocking Mode Mode
Add DormantMode to field above
edit dormant_switch_onoff from 0 to 1, blocking can be toggled on off
Awesome find. Worked great !

And it looks like I'm in the right place but I don't have a field 202
Open Sqlite Editor and let it load the "apps". Click on "setting storage". Click "setting.db". Click on "system". Click the magnify icon at the top. Put "panel" without the quotes in "Filter Value" and click ok and you'll see it. It's not line 202 for everyone.

Open Sqlite Editor and let it load the "apps". Click on "setting storage". Click "setting.db". Click on "system". Click the magnify icon at the top. Put "panel" without the quotes in "Filter Value" and click ok and you'll see it. It's not line 202 for everyone.

That worked for me. It was line 486 for me.

Okay, I'm an impatient fool. I added the field myself but only included Wifi so my notification toggles only included one button for Wifi. I must have overwritten the original file because it if the only field when I search for 'panel'.
Can someone kindly help this foolish user by copy-pasta-ing the field from their phone so I can add it back? TIA!

Mine was something like line 1624. Just click on the table heading and sort the fields in alphabetical order to make it easy to find.
Oh, and YAY!
After soft reset...flawless victory. Mine was actually line 202

Found the solution to adding the wifi toggle:
1 Get SqlLite Editor
2.Goto Setting Storage |System |
3. Edit field "notification_panel_active_app_list"
4. add Wifi
5. Hit save and reboot
You can also change the order items appear here.

Hey guys,
Didn't get this earlier but I'm new to SQL Lite Editor
Getting an error of "Ran out of Memory while loading data. Not all records are displayed."
The only record I see on this is _id 1, volume_music with a value of 7

Just tried rebooting, didn't help. What is soft reset? Battery pull?
Edit: just did a battery pull and it's still not working. :/ ARGH!

Well whatever. I rebooted three times and the third time it worked. Who knows. Thanks!
Anyone know or able to find out what the 3 remaining blank toggle spots are? I was trying to figure out if the hotspot toggle would be one, but cant get it to show. I tried everything I can think of. I tried these 4 and nothing came up; Hotsopt, MobileHotspot, Tether, WifiTether.
As the title says, I'm taking apart the lghiddenmenu system app. From what I can see in the activities, it seems to be what handles dialer codes like ##data# or ##debug#. There might be a switch to unlock the boot loader somewhere in there... Maybe a custom dialer code.. Probably not but I can hope. So far what I've found in the apk has been a banner for the g2 and some low res pics of a chiwawa. I'll post back here when I find more.
I decompiled the app and went through it a bit more without getting anywhere exciting. After doing some googling I found the dialler code to access the menu. It seems like a lot of items are missing. I'll look into enabling them tomorrow. What I did find was the AAT testing menu which let me reboot into mini os. Unfortunately there wasn't a big flashing button that said unlock boot loader. Tommorow I'm going to see if I can find a USB vulnerability for mini os.

Giver hell man!
I wonder why Sprint went with the completely neutered version of this hidden menu over the other carriers.
Rebooting into recovery lets you adb sideload, but has to have a signed file. Any way to Figure out how to bypass or fake a signed file?

With root possibly coming out today. This might be helpful. Most of the stuff couldn't be opened unless you were rooted.
I came across this app last night in the play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite
I was able to access some menu's I haven't seen elsewhere. I have the Sprint G3. Some of this stuff is beyond me and I'm not sure if it's anything helpful.

Cool, we can finally turn off thermal mitigation to see if it improves things.
I cannot figure out how to use shortcut master (lite) to open the hidden menu that can change the fps.
Is this still needed on our Sprint variant?
Anyone have any tips on how to use shortcut master in this regard?
Thanks

1) Root your phone.
2) Open up Shortcut Master Lite.
3) Tap the menu > App Explorer.
4) Launch com.lge.hiddenmenu.
5) Be very careful.
I had removed my thermal throttling and my phone was getting way too hot. It actually overheated this morning for the first time. I just set it all back, though I left the fps high. Not sure if it will be as fluid. The phone has been as smooth as butter for the few days I ran it this way, but battery life has been complete garbage.

Thank you. I was searching through secret code explorer instead of app explorer. Haven't changed anything. Personally I haven't noticed any lag at all, so I'm inclined not to change anything.
I appreciate the reply.
Why has this thread been hidden so well... Ha haha. Seriously I cant thank you enough!

Does anybody else have the Dynamic LCD refresh setting revert to defaults? I keep disabling the governor, and setting it to 60FPS static. It just resets to default every time I go back to access the menu (using Shortcut Master). The thermal mitigation and high temp settings take, and do not reset to defaults. Just the LCD refresh setting......

I have the same issue. After a reboot, I reapply manually... which gets old.
