Vanilla Android ROM (6.0.1) for Xperia M4 Aqua? - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

If available, can you please provide me a link on how to install it?

There is none and wont ever be for this phone. Never anything gets to stable state for this device devs just keep moving on to *new builds*. Either inexperianced devs try to build custom roms and fail then abondon project or they switch to other projects

Damn, I'm sad to hear that, since this phone has so much potential but the fact that nobody cares about it just kills me.

Not really... Sony is the one giving them AOSP base that they just compile and show here as work in progress... But when it comes to fixing they just dump it sad truth. Other phones with same hardware already have custom roms

Let me explain you, Sony barely supports us; this phone was never officially supported in the open devices program, and there was times when we could boot aosp roms, but mostly they don't boot. Why? We don't pretty much know, but what we do know is that this is a crappy phone for reasons that I can't tell you. So, the best you could do is wait, and understand the devs because they are surely working, and if you want news, stop bothering them, and check out their git accounts.
Finally, you just have to know that we are not magicians, we work with what we are given.

Let us take some Pressure From Racht.

Hello People, I'm Moon And trough my world of android have i gotten lowend devices for own use. i love them because they're so cheap and still Great.
I have come from the GT540 Optimus to the ZTE blade and now the x8,
(I kept the Blade trough.) I am a big fan of Racht and his sense ports, what i want to ask you people for, since Racht seems to have disappeared should we do what developers and friends of him do. We finish what he started.
Most important is currently The GL Drivers I think, Maybe some RAM Management. The free ram is very low. (about 40\50mb) This causes Rosie to reload after coming from other apps. this would be cool to fix.
I asked XDA MEMBER # Kenia1234 (he ported it to the SGS)
About 3d\open gl and wifi. this was his reply.
however as regards 3D I fixed it using my device's libs under system/lib/egl or under /vendor/lib/egl and of course using a CM7 powered kernel...
as regards the wifi, it's a little bit more complicated...you'd need to have the bins of your device under /system/bin and the firmwares all in order, as the kernel wants to...
hope this was useful!!

I think he needs a little rest...
racht said that he will port HTC kernel and that means fully working Sense rom as soon as he's back.
I don't know where he is or what is he doing, but he's on xda often. (last activity today).
And I think he's getting Xperia Ray - his post here. Also that's the last thing he posted.
Anyway, the man will spoke, and we shoud donate to him a new device if he's selling his one. To continue development. But, we need to wait until the man spokes!!
I appreciate racht so much, and I hope he doesn't forget our X8.
OH.

I See, Thanks for Providing this information to the masses.
The Ray is the best Choice after the Arc, For me, Since i like big screens.
But yes. Lets just hope for the best. the Guy i updated on, (On the op) is doing GB sense too. We should let Racht Rest and hope for the best.
In racht's last Sense Port there is a lot of bugs. I really love that rom but it has a lot of bugs.
I was without SIM Card and in the Notification Bar it was showing that i used %S(something like this) tries for the unlock key and blablabla.
SD Safe to remove bug in ROOT Apps
I tried to connect the phone to my car radio and it doesn't show anything in the phone, only the icon changed to charging, but no led, no popup for connecting, nothing. And the radio does not recognized the phone. (i think it will happen the same in the computer, i think)
3d, wifi, 3G and vibra not working, as it shows on the original topic
So this is what has to be worked on
I cannot help you so much because i'm not a good java developer, i can only understand some parts of the code, but i cannot write it. But if you want a beta tester i'm here to try to find the maximum bugs i can
I will love if someone could continue what Racht did
I am following the news.
As I have said some months ago, X8 is now added to official CM tree, you can see here :
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=shakira
So, I guess thats the end of CM story (even that I prefer tweaks by doixanh).
Sense rom depends on kernel features that do not work on .29 kernels.
See HTC threads, all new roms require .32 or .35 kernels, lets hope X8 will get a new kernel ported.
And thanks again for support

Blagus said that we have to port HTC kernel first, but it's .32 or newer kernel. We have only .29 now. Therefore it follows that we can't have sense on X8 now.

i did see a porting guide for paranoid tho, but i you know **** like "compiling frm scratch" goes over your mind XD.
lets leave that^ to the developers.
if there was a guide like an easy to do copy paste thing. we could have ported it using this cm build.
back in the day we could port miui rightt bysuch a way.
moreover is the developer edition of our device happening ?
if so we might attract some developers maybe. if that happens, i dont think it might happen well

True mate, lot of guides are there but a normal user who do not have any basic knowledge of compiling will be stuck with a bricked device. I think there is no developer edition of our phone going to happen any soon.

Why still in beta?

Most of the official ROMS are still in alpha, beta or nightly with no milestone version. Why is that?
Because most people don't rely on roms....xposed framework has greatly impacted my usage of roms.
I dunno why. Most of what I have used certainly didn't feel like a beta.
I am pretty gosh darn thankful we have what we have considering the limited number of newer devices with Verizon that can be tinkered with.
Exactly,
You should be thankful for what you have and not question what you don't.
A lot of devs and myself have jumped to the nexus 6, yet we still come here and build for you guys.

Well you need some perspective glasses. My question was just that, a question. If you have a problem with my question, maybe you should've asked someone else what they thought I'd the question instead of jumping to the conclusion that my question was other than a question. Don't be a troll.
Why would you insult someone who is contributing to the community? He was just saying that you shouldn't worry about the state of the roms here just be thankful that there is something for you to flash since a lot of developers have moved on from this device. I don't think your original question was wrong but the way you handled the responses were. Again just be thankful you have what you have or install Linux and compile the roms yourself.
Wow... His question didn't seem too insulting to me, just a bit ignorant and curious.
Most 'Unofficial' ROMs are work that someone has ported to the device; they are not supported by the teams that made the original.
Official ROMs are created by and most supported by the team on the specific device; the download is usually a link to the team's website. However, in many cases, they may only have one device among them and have not tested everything to the extent that either a test group or the public at large would, naturally. Development is always a WIP, so the BETA indicator is almost universal in custom ROMs where there is not major funding. More often, stock-based ROMs are called stable, because they are working with the base of a stable product that includes all the proprietary drivers and frameworks, vetted by a commissioned dev team at the OEM and another at the carrier.
Some devs/teams here are able to do more testing than others, but the BETA is often an exemption for anything that might not have been found in limited testing. In short, a ROM is often in beta because it has not been thoroughly tested by numerous testers on a specific device, providing detailed feedback and some debugging to the dev team. The more that users here dig in and try to help as opposed to saying "Does this work on this?" or "Why this don't workee??", the more stable those Beta ROMs tend to be--and some are rock solid or only have a few niggles.
Also, if the codebase that a dev starts with is a beta or nightly release (e.g. CM or PA), the child/forked ROM will most always carry over the alpha or beta label.

But I wasn't complaining. Simply asking a question about alpha and beta ROMs for the device. How is that insulting? If that was insulting, then every post made should be insulting. Why go any deeper? I just asked a question.

I get it, but you have to know your audience a little. Here, it's a bunch of developers and enthusiasts who freely give their time, skills, and work. While your question was about labels and versioning, the way that it is written, some may take it as "Why isn't your contribution further along and/or more stable than it is? Hell, it's been a year! How do you account for this?"
That BS isn't right when it's coming from someone who is paying you thousands for your work.

Lets try to get OFFICIAL support from Cyanogenmod

I know that there is already a thread on their forum asking for support BUT a second livelier thread cant hurt. Go ahead over and vote YES for official support.
PLEASE note that I'm NOT guaranteeing anything. I cant even guarantee that they will respond. But It cant hurt to try right?

I don't know if it'll help any, but i've voted, would be nice if we had official support. Having official support would make having this phone more bearable until whenever I can get an upgrade, would like to get off of Touchwiz.

You have to understand cm is losing many fans here. If you ask why then just have a look around. The main reason is they merge untested code, enclude bootloader, radios and other stuff that they should not be messing with and have even bricked a bunch of nexus devices. Also you have to keep in mind that many developers have walked away from Samsung devices due to their lieing to devs and the locked down nature of their devices.

Well my best advice would be for someone with the device to dig in and see what they can get going. What you need to find out first is if the bootloader can be unlocked, then finding the kernel source for the device. Without those 2 basic things no one will be able to do anything for the device. If you find them in your favor (wish you all the luck in the world....you will need it with samaung) then the rest is not that hard. Getting device trees up and then syncing up to the source of your choice and boom. You got a rom

You should try MIUI, it seems to fit your criteria...
I don't think you fully understand how is the process of "cooking" a ROM.
That ROM must be open-source (i.e.: the source code is free to use for everyone), ROMs like Samsung Experience, Oxygen OS, Vibe UI, Color OS etc. are NOT Open-Source, so how to build those ROMs if you don't have access to the source code? Of course, there is a workaround for this, that's the porting of a ROM, but it requires insane amount of work, time to fix bugs and errors. Also worth noting that the device MUST have the same (or at least very similar) hardware, you can't port ROMs for kenzo from, say, OnePlus 5. And even then, kenzo has some old blobs and drivers, so porting ROMs is even more difficult.
Hope that helps.

I see People here on xda are hopelessly rude when someone asks these kinda requests. What's the matter guys? Ever heard of something called 'freedom of speech' . C'mon guys we're better than this. Accept one's perspective. In a way he's right. I've been feeling the same for a very long time now. Everyone just tweaking the same stock android a bit here and there and naming it like: super cool os, cosmos os, crazy fast os and stuff. Hell, some don't even give screenshots of these roms cause they know it's all the same.
No offense btw, really. I respect every dev's selfless efforts into Making all the free roms for us. But u know someone needs to think out of the box once in a while. We got so many devs here, instead of divided efforts why not try a collaborative approach and cook something which was really hard for someone to do alone. Kind of like bringing TouchWiz ui, Xperia or any other cool stuff. It's just an example not to taken too to the point of though, if these OSs are hard to port.
No offense to anyone thanx to all the hard working devs :highfive:

and they must collaboratively cook a ROM , so that they can fix almost all the bugs and make ROMs better than they really are.
IMO they try to cook one ROM, fix some bugs and then move to new ROM that's very frustrating. I have tried almost every ROM out there for kenzo and all have some bugs here n there. bugs like low net speed, excessive heat compared to miui , lags etc.
Sorry for my English BTW.
