Samsung Email app APK - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If someone can give me the APK to the stock samsung email app with the latest released OS I would appreciate it. I'm on a rooted 5.0.2 and can't upgrade without losing root. I doubt this will work b/c I believe the app is tied to the Framework for the latest OS but would like to give it a try and see if i can update manually.
Cheers

Install as system app in system/priv-app
Why don't you just update and re root?

I tried both of those and they failed. I think it has something to do with the fact I'm on Lollipop and the framework for 6.x is different.
Can't update and reroot. They patched the kernel so there is no way to root. Yay locked bootloader and US carriers.
Thanks

Did you install as system app? Set permissions to rw-r-r? You could try to manualy update the framework?

Yes, force closes that way. Copying the framework alone without a kernel update to go along with it will boot loop the phone. It is not that easy otherwise OS updates would be a breeze. I think I'm stuck with this for now.

[APP] Could anyone post the latest version of Google Wallet?

For anyone that can actually download the latest version of Wallet app (I'm on T-mobile and read about walk-around and it installs but fails to do otherwise)...
Could you kindly upload the latest Wallet.apk?
Thank you!

You mean this one?
latest version identifies unsupported device. so you might wanna think twice before doing that.
Yep.. I get insufficient privileges. This method used to work until previous version if I flash the CM9 NFC lib then copy Wallet.apk to system/app, but obviously since prepaid card no longer works, I wanted to try if the new version of Wallet.apk would work.
So I guess there's no fix unless I totally go back to pure stock or someone else comes up with the mod?
I have Nexus S on custom 4.0.4 ROM, rooted and bootloader unlocked.

Pure stock might be an issue too. I'm getting an update popup on my wallet app, and when I attempted to use it yesterday, it didn't work. I haven't tried again, but there may be an issue there too, just a head's up.

Jelly Bean 4.2.1 OTA

So I just received a 1MB OTA which took my version up to 4.2.1. At the very least, it fixes the missing December issue in the People app. Given the size, I doubt there's too much more in there.
Any performance improvement? Can you run an AnTuTu 3 test?
Keep root? Any problem with unlocked bootloader (but stock cmw and rom, only bootloader unlocked)?

It's not visibly faster, although I didn't have any performance issues before either. Disabling Currents pretty much fixed it for me. I can't find antutu 3 on the Play Store, is it just called "antutu"?

Sorry, I haven't rooted mine so I don't know.
Does anybody know how to get this update on a Rooted device with custom recovery?

Sideload possibly; but in any case, someone needs to provide an update URL.
Does the update keep root?
Cheers

Just download AnTuTu, and you'll get the latest version, I think.

Were you experiencing any freezing or reboots prior to the update? I wonder if this addresses that issue. If not, this thing is going back.

I dunno, maybe I'll just unroot, relock and grab the OTA...then try to re-root and unlock again.
Any chance you can still catch the filename of the downloaded file?
I have not yet received the ota update. I'm currently using unrooted 4.2nexus10. Buy I'm currently in the Philippines...
Can any expert tell me if i can still get the update or should i just manually download... If so how to manually apply update... Hope anyone out there could help

You should get the update eventually automatically. Otherwise (once someone provides an update URL) you can just take the package, and adb sideload it from Recovery (boot device to recovery; do update from adb or whatever it's called; on the PC, do adb sideload UPDATE-NAME.zip)

adb is for Android Debug Bridge
All you have to know is here : http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html

Then please tell us the exact filename of that zip file. It should look like this:
Code:
123abc456def.signed-manta-JOP40D-from-JOP40C.123abc45.zip
The numbers in front and at the end are especially important.
You can maybe clear data from the Google Services Framework and then try polling for the update.
I just want to know if I am unlocked and rooted will I keep those? I am still on stock recovery and rom, but I did add AOSP browser to system/apps manually so that may need to be removed I believe.

Im downloading ota rootkeeper just to be safe for now .
I'm still rooted after the update.

I don't think a 1mb OTA fixes performance issues. More like adding December back into the contacts calander

Until they realize they are not doing their customers any favors, never.
I knew better. Got an MDK device, rooted it immediately and have been running CM ever since. [emoji41]
If you guys are talking about Knox 2.0...get used to it. Knox is being incorporated by Google in Android "L".
Remember, with all the hackers out there, the average Joe and Joan want their privacy secured...all the banking that is done from the phones now?
And also Verizon is the largest carrier for military and commercial contracts...to keep them and get more the phones have to be as secure as possible.
Anyone try to see if Towelroot works with this build?
I think they need to find another root method. Towelroot only works on kernels june 3 and below. I have no idea if it will work if you used it
I'm not upgrading. All flashaholics like me will DEFINITELY just wait for a possible exploit for NC5 than hope for the almost nonexistent chance there will be an unlock in the new firmware. Just my $0.02

We have been able to use towelroot on the latest updates for the att S4, S5, and Vz S5 by flashing back the previous kernel, rooting, then reflashing the new unexploitable kernel. Vz S4 users will likely be able to do the same on NG6.

Least they could have done was give us 4.4.4 at the same time.

Downloading now. I don't care if I lose root. I'll test towelroot after the update.

Towelroot is guaranteed not to work. A better option is to grab the update from your cache/fota folder and post so that we can make a workaround to keep root.
Yep id give it to muniz.
Theres no way im going through the drama we had last time.

Lol, I remember and don't blame you at all.
It's confirmed that towelroot doesn't work. The version is still 4.4.2. The first thing I noticed was the GPS toggle in the notification area is now a Location toggle.
Any method of rooting?
Now that Towelroot is out, is there any way of rooting on the latest version? Downgrading, flashing an image in Odin, etc? Or are we pretty much screwed until a work around is found?

There is a very good chance that the kernel swap method will work on this latest build.
Someone just needs to grab the ota from their device. We'll take the kernel from the new update and package it into an Odin flashable .tar. You'll then flash the old NC5 kernel after taking the update, re-boot and root using towelroot, then reflash the new kernel. No guarantees but this method has been working on all of the latest Sammy updates.

I could give you guys the OTA if you tell me how to do it. I'm by no means an expert at rooting, but I've had a few years experience. So basically you'll modify the new kernel to allow downgrading to NC5, root, then update again? I had Towelroot before I updated, had OTA survival mode enabled in SuperSU, and had it installed as a system app, but I still lost root on this latest update. :crying:

Root for android L?

I have no clue how people figure out how to root and unlock bootloaders I'm just one of the lucky guys that get to use the programs that are made to let us be able to do the great stuff we can with android. But since that guy opened sourced bump do you guys think we will ever get stock android L rooted since now maybe LG will be able to patch the root and bump methods or will we be stuck on 4.4?

We aren't going to be stuck on 4.4 either way. If they patch it, someone will eventually release a version that doesn't contain the patch and can be flashed via twrp. Just don't take any OTA updates, otherwise you may lose root forever.

It's cool that you are trying to help other members that have this device, as I'm sure there isn't a ton of info. However, with that in mind, you should be more detailed with how you got it to work with the phone. First, does it come prerooted from the factory or did you have to root it yourself? If you rooted it, what program did you use? What version of the program? What update is the phone on? Build version of the software? This kind of info will help as if this phone gets an update to Lollipop, then installing Xposed won't work this way and will help eliminate confusion.
