I currently have 4.1.57 but want to reflash back to 4.1.26 so that I can get root again. Before doing this, I'd like to backup my apps and data so that I don't lose some of my games, etc.
Are there any apps that will backup the data and applications without root? Normally I'd use Titanium Backup but this requires root so it won't work.
+1 I would like to do exactly the same thing! I have searched and tried but I can not find a process or app to backup "app+data" (game progress, app settings, text messages). I also have titanium backup pro but it obviously doesn't work without root. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

try mybackup from the market. I don't think it can grab app data or system data, but could atleast backup call log, sms, contacts, ect.
Unfortunately app data is what I need to backup. I've spent hours playing Game Dev Story and don't want to lose my game progress.
I don't really care as much about call log, sms's, etc.
Maybe there's a way to backup manually? Find the save files, put in SD card, flash SBF, move files back?

Is it possible to pull a copy of all the files on your system partition through ADB to your computer?

Does anyone know the syntax or a script to make a copy of your system partition?
Thanks

You can't without root.
Hi.
I've been trying to install Whatsapp on my YP-G70.
I tried to backup and transfer apk by using PC emulator (Youwave).
I've also tried to follow the indications indicated in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1435617
, but I haven't de able to achieve it.
Time ago, I seemed to see in the forum that, with a "custom" rom, can be installed app like Whatsapp.
Can anyone tell if with a specific ROM can Whatsapp be instaled?
(and what ROM is that)
Thk so much.
I`m spanish. Sorry if any spell bug
I installed BlueStacks (http://bluestacks-app-player.softonic.com/)
Installed whatsapp (http://www.whatsapp.com/android/)
Installed titanium and box (dropbox or any cloud service)
Open whatsapp and set
Open titanium and backup whatsapp
Open box and upload the files from titanium's folder
Download this files in your yp-g70 and move to titanium folder
Install whatsapp from whatsapp website on your yp-g70
then open titanium and restore app+files
then open whatsapp and enjoy!!!
I've tried to open and set whatsapp on bluestack, but it shows me the same mesage when y acept the terms (can´t identify your device / tablets are currently not suported)
Any idea?
Thanks
that's unusual... I dont have any problems and i've done that for a lot of friends... If u dont matter i can do it for you...
Done!
I wasn't able to do it by using bluestacks, so I tried it with youwave again, and I achieved it.
Thanks for the information, rafa.
It was very useful for me

Ok, u're welcome!
Build.prop
Couldn't you trick it into thinking you're a phone with some build.prop editor?
I installed winmount to find titanium folder (it's in a .vdi file on C:\users\"your windows user"\.virtualbox )

Can you please tell me what you did on youwave?
Because I want to do this so I can have whatsapp on CM7 or CM9 ROM.
Edit: Aha nvm, I managed to import Whatsapp from a ROM to CM7. I installed titanium backup and backed up my contacts, whatsapp and contact storage. Then I uploaded my whatsapp app and my titanium back-up app onto Dropbox. I then flashed CM7 with CWM. Then I flashed gapps to get google play store on my Player. Then I downloaded dropbox from market, downloaded my uploaded titanium and whatsapp app onto my device and installed those 2 apps. Then I restored my data of the 3 back-up files (whatsapp, contacts and contacts storage). Then I was able to use whatsapp on my Galaxy Player with CM7 ROM on it. I didn't need a computer to accomplish this.
The downside of this was that I didn't have my contacts names any longer. I only saw the number in the whatsapp chat. But I guess that's not that bad after all.

waiting for response!
I have working WhatsApp on "my" YP-G70, now I explain method I used:
you need root on Galaxy S WiFi/Player, another rooted Android device with GSM/UMTS module (and telephone number) compatible with WhatsApp and Titanium Backup installed on both devices.
Install and configure WhatsApp on the other device.
Make a backup of WhatsApp with Titanium Backup.
Copy 3 files with *whatsapp* in the name from Titanium Backup folder on your PC.
Copy WhatsApp backup files from PC to Galaxy Player in Titanium Backup folder.
On YP-G70 restore WhatsApp backup with Titanium Backup.
Enjoy WhatsApp on your YP-G70 device!!!

Sorry, I have not idea...
I am using whatsapp now for a while on this device. All those tricks didn't really work for me, so I'd installed WT's ROM. It said that it has whatsapp support. Just install that ROM and download the whatsapp apk (from its own site I suggest). For registration, I recommend using a phone without whatsapp, just to avoid any conflicts.
Good luck!

You have to have what's called "IMEI spoofing" on your rom. Since our device does not have an imei as it is not a phone, and some apps require am IMEI to function, some smart devs have figured out how to create a fake imei so that they will run. It is a simple hack, and should be included in *most* custom roms. That is why using data from a phone will work, as the IMEI is already set up. You could also optionally do it yourself, but then you would have to figure out how to decompile jarfiles, edit smali, and use adb fluently.
hey guys
i dont get the tutorial so is there someone how can describe a way, which works?
Thanks man

you dont need to edit anything.. if you already flashed rom, use titanium backup app to delete unwanted apps (stock contacts, sms, ...)
if you didn't flash rom already (or you plan to flash it again, and do clean install) just open minicm7***.zip on your pc with winrar/7zip and remove unwanted apps from system/app
you can also add wanted apps (go contacts, etc) there simply by drag and drop method via winrar/7zip, but i recommend that you put them to data partition, because probably they won't be recognized by market if they are in system partition, so you wont be notified for updates..
ok I will try the first one
and what if I want to install some selected APK on my sdcard and thats during flashing so I dont have to install them aftwre flashing and I want to change the launcher also
and thanks for quick reply

my suggestion is to remove all unwanted apps from rom, all except launcher because you need it (you can remove it later with titanium backup, when you install some other launcher). then flash rom and install all apps from sd card. (i know that its pain in the ass, but you need to do this only once) then install app titanium backup (it's paid app but it's easy to find apk on the internet, if you get me ) and then make batch backup of all user apps.
and then in the future whenever you reinstall rom, or even install some other rom, you just need to install titanium backup and select option "batch restore user apps" and then you can choose what apps you want to restore from previous backup, and all apps will install automatically, you only need 1 click and it's done. that will restore all your apps and all settings in those apps. i really think that's the best way to mass install apps.
An easy way to remove preinstalled apps, is with the flashtool, which you need anyway to flash kernel. There is a option called: clean junk apps.

How can I create a TOT or a KDZ file from my phone with all my apps and settings
If I flash the "original" TOT I can restore LG-backup, but will loose some settings and some apps
How do you flash the original tot file? Lgup? Going to flash it when mm is available for my variant.
Try titanium backup

Yes, LGUP, I want something equivalent to ROM backup on TWRP, Titanium only backups apps, not settings, themes and so on...
i read in many threads now that tw is only designed for same device restore
i didnt know that
can i use a root browser or similar to extract my old apps amnd (data) and migrate to g5 because i really need it... lg g4 is sold :cyclops:
which files excactly are needed ( data.ext4 for example??)
if you have root, use simply titanium backup to restoe Apps with data. But restore device settings is a big risk. Set it manually and dont restore it you can restore a many systemapps, but dont restore app and data, restore data only...
