I am currently roaming in roaming in the U.S. at quite high prices. I want to use my phone to get notified of new e-mails, whatsapps, and facebook messages. However, because roaming rates are quite high, I want to make sure my phone doesn't use any other background data. For example, updating weather widget (w/o my manual refreshing), or checking my apps for updates. Especially checking for app updates is a huge waste of data. I tried disabling the update notifications in play store, but it still seems to check because when I go to "my apps" it already knows which of my apps are out of date.
Is there an app that will only let selected apps access my data?

If your phone is rooted you can take the app "LBE Privacy Guard" from play store. With the app you can set the permissions for all your apps.
regards
Thanks! I am using LBE Privacy Guard now but Android is still eating away at my data. I disabled 2G/3G data usage for all apps except Whatsapp and Gmail. in thee Firewall section I can see how much data my apps are using. Over the last 3 hours Whatsapp has used 5kb and gmail has used 122 kb, according to LBE no other app has used any data, yet it shows that I have used 372 kb over the last few hours. At $1 per MB on roaming I will be spending about $1.50 a day at this rate even if I do not send or receive any messages. This is too much data usage for background apps I am not using. And when I am roaming on Y-mobile my charges go up to $16 per MB, which would really be too expensive. And unfortunately there are no SIM cards in USA that you can just buy for prepaid for a few days.
Have you disable "background data" and "auto sync" under settings on your phone?
regards
originally I didn't because then i figured it won't check my whatsapp messages anymore. But I tried it just to see what would happen. I have now disables EVERY app to use internet and turned off syncing. I still used 832 kb of data in the last 12 hours.
Google should really work on this. I wish they had a feedback line. How can they make it possible to turn data off, but not make it possible to limit my data use when data is turned on?
As much as I travel, this is a dealbreaker for me. does anyone here have an iPhone and can confirm if data can be completely controlled on it?

If you're rooted, install Avast Anti-Virus. It provides a nice firewall. It supports different sets of firewall rules based on Wi-Fi, Home data, Roaming data.
By default, its in "Deny Selected" mode. Just, switch to "Allow Selected" mode and allow those apps in Roaming column.

This has got to be the funniest statement ever, iPhone has no flexibility. Turn on WiFi and data turns off. Turn off WiFi and data turns on.
There is no way you can make it so it restricts certain apps.

This works great. I have firewall all google apps. when I try to go to the store it tells me no services. How about services that are not an app?

You'll have to hunt down that by yourself. Google that or ask here..
Have you tried droidwall ?
It can enable/disable data connection (wifi and or 3g) for each app and service individually.

Hey I am not sure what that means. In EL29 i was able to stop background days in one of the set up options. In FF18 that option I'd no longer available.
That's all

TeslaLED.
I use the xposed module that turns it on when you hold volume up while the screen is off, for me it's much more convenient than an app or the quicksettings widget.
On stock the widget is called assistive light.

I can't seem to reconnect my watch after I change my rom even though I backup and restore every app. It hasn't been too much of a problem since I could just reset the watch and have it all set up in a few minutes. But since we can store offline music now, it is a very long process. I had to redownload every song. Is there a way to just reconnect the watch without resetting it?
Try to pair it from watch, i mean put ur phone on discoverable mode and let ur watch search for it and then pair ur phone from ur watch, hope it helps

Thanks, I will give that a try next time. Have you successfully re-paired your watch to your phone after a rom change?

I've had to "reset" the watch which is found under the watch settings menu. This forces you to re-pair the watch and establish the connection again.

Yeah, that is what I have been doing. But that requires all the music to be re-downloaded which takes hours. I'm hoping there is a way to get around that.

what do you mean by redownloading music? the G Watch doesn't have a speaker to play music from.
All it can do is interact with your phone and allow you to switch music, lower and increase volume etc from your watch.
So all the music files should be on your phone, not on your watch.
Resetting the G Watch doesn't affect your phone in any way, shape or form.
With google play music, downloaded music on your phone are transferred to your watch. Then pair Bluetooth buds/speakers to your watch, then you can play the songs from your watch, even without the phone.
Apparently the OP is having a problem: each time you reset the watch to connect to a new phone rom, the music is lost.

what a incredibly useless feature if you ask me, the G watch is not designed to be without phone anyway. (Besides the fact it only has 2gb of storage, only 1/5th of my music would fit on it.)
that aside, yes, resetting the watch is just like any factory reset on any device. every partition gets reset, that includes user data.
thus you lose the music.
I believe I re-paired the watch before without factory resetting it, just had to re-sync all my apps after it connected.
Though I'm not sure how I did it back then.

While it may not be a useful feature for you, for others who like to work out with music, it may be more convenient to take just take your watch and headphones without lugging around your nexus 6 when running your laps. Unless you are running a marathon, 2-3 gigs of music would be plenty.
To the OP, I am a flashoholic and use MultiROM on my Nexus 5 and switch between three different ROMS regularly, Without BeeLink, I don't think we have a solution yet.

Since no one has really said anything...I found a way that might work and you can try. Open up the wear app and hit the three buttons in the top right of the app. Hit the pair with new wearable and let it find the watch. Then follow the original process.
When this happened to me I had to reflash a custom Rom since I was using one before. It was the only way I could get my watch seen in my phone.
There are three fitness apps on the ZW2: Google Fit, Jawbone and Asus Wellness.
Which one are you using?
Are all three equal? Are the apps loosing the collected data when I do a factory reset on the watch?
What happenes with the data on the apps? Are they collected by Google/Asus?

if u have allowed welness to collect data, you will not able to turn off collecting data (I cant find the option in zw2 welness app)
Google fit has option to turn off collecting data
You mean if I allowed it on the smartphone?
Do you mean the message when first opening the app?
I found an "inspire Asus" button in the settings and deactivated that, perhaps thats the option?
I tried Google Fit but somehow it was deleting my step counter. I read the same on the play store comments, happenes quite a lot
€dit:
Perhaps you mean the backup of Fit data to the google servers?
In Settings-Accounts-Google-"Tap on Google Account" you can deactivate syncing the fit data.
How does sleep as droid do for you? I also use fit but keep wellness for sleep tracking. Tried sleep as droid but killed my battery.

Sleepasandroid worked extremely well in Android Lollipop on the Zenwatch. Not in Marshmallow anymore
I'm sure Asus wellness is best.
So, I just received my watch today and I was excited to set it up, but one thing didn't work. The Watch Face Settings inside the Mi Fit app doesn't seem to do anything in the sense that when I try to access it, there is a blue line showing something is loading, but then I am greeted with a blank page.
It need active internet connection to load the watchfaces.
Check your phone Internet connection.

I have the same problem
I've been having the same issue since I bought the watch. It's pretty frustrating, since I am not a big fan of the stock watch faces. I've already tried clearing the data of the app and setting up the watch from scratch.

Did it help? Yesterday I restored my watch and mifit app to factory settings but this did not help
hello , to all
to use Watch Face Settings you can try to use some VPN software to change location to Hong Kong for example...
- sometimes here are problems with connecting to amazfit server from non-china locations((
I tried using HonkKong server using Turbo VPN(android app), doesn't seem to be working. If it works for anyone do let us know
Can't check it now... I have this problem earlier.
Now watch face settings is working (Mifit 3.2.3.1 LolexMod, Bip FW v0.1.0.43)
I try to use Honk kong VPN
And.. The same problem, i cant see watch faces... My version is 3.2.7.2
Same problem. Installed a new watch face through the application notify & fitness for amazfit
Fixed
I managed to fix the error by connecting the Bluetooth clock and being connected, erase the cache and that's it.
I hope it will be helpful.:good:

This doesnt work. It seems something is broken on the page that gives all the list of watch faces. I have another app for custom watch faces which shared a message about something on similar lines.
Solution
I had the same issue, "Local watch faces" is not showing anything, but they seem to be loaded under "Online watch faces". So download a new watch face, for example with "Amazfit Bip & Cor WatchFaces" app, remember the watch face your are substituting. Then go to "Online watch faces", choose the watch face you have substituted (which will still show the original image, not the new watch face!!!) and there you go, your chosen watch face will be loaded to the watch, not the original one.
Quiet confusion really, took me a while to realize this.
Solved blank watch face settings for Amazfit cor
Hello,
I deleted all watch faces downloaded for my amazfit cor. I reinforced to close my Mi app.
I reopened Mi app and reopened Watch Face Settings. It worked again to me.
Hopefully it helps you guys with the same issues as mine.
