go back to stock rom first using ODIN. Install TWRP 2.8.6, follow directions on Alliance Rom Page.

I installed the ICS update I wasn't rooted, but I tried to root it with Odin, and I cannot get past the SAMSUNG logo.
I know that I installed a GB rom on an ICS kernal, I just would love some help on fixing it.

If you go back to the samsung site near the bottom of the page is steps to install an emergency update. Thats what you need.

i cant even enter to recovery mode..
i could enter to download mode but odin give me fail message...
what should i do...
Try using the .pit file also in Odin with whatever stock rom? your using hopefully it's not a 4.3 stock rom or you will be locked out from anything custom...
Once you have a custom recovery and using custom roms you shouldn't us Odin or Casuals unlock & root method ever again unless you have problems with recovery bootloops or radio etc...
I didn't understand what you meant when you said dn3 rom didn't have "unlock feature"
I've never heard of dn3 rom but I will go look.

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH OffTheChainz and Bonkurei!!!!
i found and use .pit file and my phone came back to normal...thank you !!!!!!!
and btw...if i unlock the bootloader once is this unlock goes to permanent?
@corean0213
Use this method and r515 build shared here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272066 Thanks to AdamOutler
I didn't have any luck with the newer builds working. Take your time be patient if you run into problems after trying multiple times you can always revert back with your pit and stock rom. Keep that handy for emergency.
Once you get TWRP recovery with Casual your golden.
I suggest trying Alliance Rom build 25 if you like custom everything, like myself or give OhTrent Rom if you want something very sweet and simple for your Note 2! Other people might recommend something else....
Glad we was able to help!
I've been using these forums for years and sponged my brains with info and absorbed some of it lol

Ive tried installing the 4.4.2 ROM Achidroid N7000 on my phone using TWRP but it skipped the MD5 check and said "Installation failed/aborted....". I then tried an AOSP 4.4.2 ROM but it said the same error message. After that, I gave up and tried to use the phone. When it booted up, it froze on the Samsung logo and wouldnt boot up completely. Ive tried doing a FDR through the custom recoveries but still the same thing happens. I really dont know what to do. I have an i9300 under 4.3.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Follow the guide in general forum on how to flash a stock firmware, download the latest one for your country from sammobile.com.
Factory reset after flashing in recovery.

I dun think archi developed any rom for the N7000. At least I didn't see any when googling. But if you flashed a N7000 rom on ur phone, even if u finally unbrick it, I bet there will be some hardware issues.

The first page alr said tat the rom is VERY buggy and is in the experimental state. Many things are not working in tat rom. So I have no idea why some one would wan it as their daily driver rom.
Issue Solved
Thank you guys. I was able to flash the ROM properly using PHILZ recovery.
i am trying to install cyanofgenmod rom on shostock 3 and i keep getting an error message status 7
could anyone help me please
thanks
Shostock3 does not use an appropriate kernel/recovery to flash any android 4.4 firmware.
see this post for details on using an appropriate kernel/recovery.

It means your recovery needs to be updated. If you're wanting CM11 you would need to flash RenderBroken's kernel. If it's CM10 you would need AJK 4.9 AOSP.
Flashing one of these version-specific kernels will give you the recovery you need.
EDIT: SteveMurphy's response covers it better.
Hello,
I have an old i9100 (international) with the original stock rom (android 4.1.2 Jellybean) and I want to upgrade to Lineage os 14.
First I tried to install twrp using heimdall, but the recovery mode is still using the stock one. Searching in the forum, I saw that first I need to change the kernel to one "isorec compatible" and I'm stuck in this step. I have never changed the kernel of an smartphone before, I don't know how can I do this and what kernel I can use to successfully install twrp.
I know there's a lot of links teaching how to do this, but this is one of my problems. Most of then have dead/missing links to download, or they presume I've already flash something to continue.
So I would like do ask if someone can show me a simple way to make my phone isorec compatible, so I can install twrp a lineageos?
Thank you!

E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
And the OP doesn't seems to know why either.
Is anyone know another good tutorial? I'm actually only need help to replace my stock recovery with twrp, once I get this, install any other rom is going to be easy.

It worked!
I install twrp using this tutorial, but I still can't install lineageos, when I try to patch it says that can't mount /system and stucks near the end of the process.
Do you know if I'm missing something?
Thank you.
