New update VS99025A - Verizon LG V10

This one appears to be just another incremental security patch. Still on Marshmallow. [emoji58]

We will be on marshmallow forever. No way this phone sees N. I'd at least like to see 6.1 though. It has some good fixes..

Just a security patch

Yes, because that makes sense.... completely not true. Remember the LG G3? That got updates through android 6 I believe and it started at 4.4 and this phone is definitely able to run 7, so I don't really understand why you would say that.

Because Verizon's lack of interest in this phone at this point. We can't even get 6.1

Best case puts unlocked getting it from LG in March of this year. That means maybe, MAYBE a Verizon update at the end of the year. We are just falling to far down the developmental pipeline at this point.

6.1 has nothing to do with it. Do any of the v10's have 6.1? That doesn't have anything to do with Verizon, I've never heard of the v10 getting 6.1 at all. Also, maybe the xda dev pipeline but that doesn't mean we won't see an N update in march. You guys are negative towards this, look at the other lg phones that go the updates, popular or not.

Hello, I have a question : I am still on 23A and when I go to check it says it's up to date. I am not using verizon sim, I am on europe.

I have the 25A KDZ if anyone is interested.

Since taking the 25A update, my wife can no longer install apps I create in Tasker for her. No idea why not. They install on my V20 just fine. Tested installing apps from Amazon and they install just fine on her phone.
Mystified and frustrated.
** Update **
The reason for my inability to install the aforementioned apps had nothing to do with the update and apparently everything to do with the icons I was using for the exported apps. Once I changed the icons, the problem went away. Strange, though, considering the same apps and icons worked just fine on my V20.

Will this patch work with unlocked Verizon LG v10 North America? If so I would like the new patch. Another question, do I need to update each security patch in order or can I jump to the latest patch and it will install everything from previous patches?
Thanks

I don't think it has been released yet. Usually there is an email sent to the pre-release testers notifying them about the coming update. It looks like Motorola is bumping the feedback network solicitation daily so maybe they are looking to reach x amount of folks before pulling the trigger.
---------- Post added at 01:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:28 PM ----------
Also I would not update unless you will be happy with stock. There may be an unlockable bootloader within the next OTA. The electrify folks suffer from this after the 2.3.5 update (IIRC). My wife's phone will be testing the next OTA out since her phone is bone stock.

I too have read in the Development forums that this might be the 2.3.5 update the Electrify users are stuck with. I am using CM9 as my daily and to be honest, until (if) ICS is released to the Photon as an OTA, I have no interest in anything Motorola offers short of 4.0.

You are right - it does look like Moto keeps updating the Photon soak tester request thread on their forum.
Unfortunately, it's just a problem they have with their new forum software.
Mark (Moto forum mgr) has posted elsewhere that they are not looking for Photon testers (and that it's an old thread), but are looking for Atrix testers.

I quite agree - there are no signs that Moto has any release coming, but the only one I'd care about is 4.0.3.
I didn't sign up for the soak test but it did get pushed to my phone around 1 pm today, it is a forced update. But because I am rooted it put my photon into a boot loop and I had to reflash it.
So they are sending out the update as of today, wish I could have tested it.

weird have you ever updated your phone? still doesnt make sense to me as why a forced update when you havent signed up for anything .... ive signed up for the tests the same day i registered my photon on the motorola site a day or two after receiving it... when i got this phone i bought it cause it does everything i need it to do right out the box ( except for being rooted) i used to own a sprint hero was flashing and trying everything i could to get it to do half of what this phone does.... im satisfied with it in the state i have it in atm however if it was getting some new update just want to kinda know something in advance to prepare it for a smooth transition cause right now ive got it tweaked to no end... i know this contradicts my previous statement but that was when i had a hero not after owning a photon...phones great but as with everything it CAN be better
I had it updated a few months ago, but it was pretty weird getting a forced update. I wish I could've downloaded it to see what was new/fixed
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
I didn't have that issue with getting a forced update... If this isn't a 1080p update with other bug fixes, this may just be my last Motorola phone on Sprint, because Motorola does everything for every carrier other than Sprint for high end Android Devices...
I am hoping for a Photon 2 with LTE, Tegra 3, 1080p, better 8MP camera, blah blah blah...
PLEASE, let's not start an argument in this thread about the Photon having LTE, let's not go there...

How do you know it was the soak test? (I've seen no other posts about it being rolled out)
How do you know that it was root that caused your boot issue? (Last update, many of us were rooted, update worked just fine, then we had to root again)
Because the only update that Motorola is rolling out for the photon is the soak update. And i had the same issue with my Samsung fascinate, I was rooted and had a forced update and it is stuck trying to update then the android dude with the exclamation point.

Got word about this from Mark over at the owners forum. The "pre-release testers needed" thread is an old thread. It only shows up at the top because people are seeing and looking at it, thus showing it as active. They are currently looking for testers for the Atrix not the Photon. I done a little reading on the subject and though it is possible that there may be an update in the future there is nothing currently on the table. If and when there is it may give us 1080p on the camera or maybe even ICS, nothing will happen until Sprint and Moto agree on a release. And yes, there is the possibility that the bootloader will not be unlockable anymore. What xoes tbis mean for me? I'm freezing the updater and upgrader apk's and a few other items with TiBu. Only other thing cor me will be a custom ROM or ICS when it's to a point where it meets my needs as a DD.

I haven't heard such a thing. Motorola has yet to release an official ICS update for even the devices that were promised the ICS update like the Droid RaZR, bionic, xoom 2, etc so hopefully that is good news and hope for the Photon for ICS in the future.
It's just bug fixes, and possibly 1080p...
This is only Android 2.3.5, we currently have 2.3.4, please relax, lol, this is not ICS...
EDIT: The same thing the Electrify got, plus our bootloaders will be unlockable, (for now, anyways.)

But why would Motorola continue to make updates to gingerbread when they could be focusing on ICS? This makes it sound like the Photon won't get ICS. Also why just 2.3.5 and not the latest baseline in 2.3.7? Kinda of a dumb move by Motorola.

Totally agree with you. I have absolutely zero interest in 2.3.5 unless it unlocks the bootloader at the same time. Otherwise I'll wait for Moto or CM to release ICS.

I got a notification of an update approximately 10 days ago. I declined the same because I was in the middle of something else at the time & hoped to investigate the same before installing it. However since declining the same I have not been able to locate or retrieve the same.

I have my apps backed up from my rooted GS3 but my GS5 doesn't have root...how to

restore them? Best way? Trying to avoid individual APK extraction
Depends on what method you used to back them up from the S3.

Have to root the S5 then. Depends on the variant you have and the Build Number of the software you are on as to method needed.

What release of the S5 can I buy to ensure I can root it? 1st order was upgrade from ATT OF3, most recent. Returned it. 2nd was a Puerto Rican seller on Swappa who said it was rooted. IT came OF3, no root/su binary installed. Gotta return it tomorrow. I am thinking of Ebaying it AT&T and rooted, but I do'nt know if OTA will force itself later. Is there a variant I can buy that guranteed doesn't have a locked bootloader?
I am a student and dont have time for his ;( Massive waste of time. Like many, I ordered all the acecssors for this too thinking it was just a step up, no KNOX knowledge, from my GS3

Also it has a much larger form factor=less grip while running, falls out of my basketball shorts much easier.
You want an unlocked T-Mobile version or the international model that supports US LTE.

What does unlocked network have to do with unlocked bootloader? Not sure I understand you. There is no gurantee it seems that the OTA upgrade has been applied.
Something that really scares me about hte OF2 and OF3 is how compared ot the release date, how long no one has found exploits for the recent basebands...can it really be cracked is the question I ask. And as far as I know not too many devs are working with the S5 officially anymore.
The T-Mobile version has an unlocked bootloader. You want it SIM unlocked for use on AT&T. It's not the specific update of OF2 or whatever so much as the locked bootloader. With the T-Mobile version, you can just install a custom recovery, flash the SuperSU zip or a custom rom and good to go. You can also use roms for the International version where development is still decent.

What a kick in the teeth! No marshmallow for Z3v.

Agreed this 509 firmware is stagefright patched and was built like 5 weeks ago and its 5.0.2 I think this is all were getting and since the Z4v is no longer coming out I belive 5.0.2 is the end of the road for the Z3v. This 509 firmware is good though.
I can understand your frustration, but I wouldn't take it for 100% that Sony is intentionally excluding the Z3V... They will probably send the marshmallow firmware to Verizon, and because of that, we'll probably never receive it unless we get a lucky leak, but I doubt that because I don't think it'll even be a candidate for Internal Testing as I'm sure Verizon plans to push Lollipop, fulfill their year old promises, and be done with their EOL device.. so even if Sony does send them the firmware, Verizon is most likely going to sit on it until it's buried... But you have to think with articles like these, even if they are press statements from Sony, it's still likely that they could leave out the Z3V unintentionally because even though its a variant of the Z3, by saying the Z3 is getting the update, they could be collectively including the Z3V along with that... but either way, I agree that we'll most likely never get this update, and that sucks.... But I do think Verizon is going to give us the latest Lollipop for sure.... There's no reason not to jump it to 5.1.1 if Sony gave them the firmware, it's not a major update... I think they just wanted a solid Lollipop build in "testing" (an intentional leak out there to collect usage stats from people bold enough to flash it) with stagefright patches, etc to make sure they had a solid build before putting the finishing touches on the firmware. There is a different Kernel in the .509 version than the .485, as well as some other interesting differences that make me think they're gearing it for the latest Lolllipop... and really as long as we get that with working VOLTE.... I can be happy enough with that.

the thought did cross my mind that they would update 509 the rest of the way to 5.1.1 now that stagefright patch is out for z3 5.1.1 because it may be bad for business to have us on firmware we shouldn't have. I don't even care really Verizon made me sick with this shiit I guess I have to get a nexus phone next but I'm not doing that till they firgure out how to but an SD card in a phone. I wasn't trying to be rude either I have had this phone for almost a year since it first came out and have received no support for this phone at all I have spent literally hundreds of hours trying to fix this phone myself because verzions incompetence I'm not sure for the reason for the leak or how it happened but I doubt very much we will receive 6.0 and I don't really give a **** I would just like them to realease a Lollipop version so I can have a feature I was promised a year ago -advanced calling. Also quick charge 2.0 is a listed feature- it's not. Verizon = Liars. Look at the Z4v that's a disaster to.

I am pretty tough skinned, it takes more than what you said to be considered "rude" to me.
I agree B.S. what VZW has done with the Advanced Calling 1.0, I am tired of getting the stepchild phones and VZW keeping us from getting the next OS release due to heavy-handed control. I mean Z3 getting a beta test for Marshmallow, seriously? Maybe the guy who got the leak can get Marshmallow leak, but I would like to have the latest OS if possible and I am sure others will agree.
An AOSP with a unlocked bootloader, I miss those days.
Is this bogus?

If it was real we would have heard about it. If it is still wait until it shows up here on XDA.

It is fake
Man it was so great to have the Droid when it first came out. ROM competition was tremendous and you could lead anything you wanted; if you could dream it, someone was already working on it.
I have 4 of those beauts!

I have a similar experience. My last phone was a Galaxy Nexus, it was an embarrassment of riches as far as being able to modify it. Different ROMs everywhere you looked, modified kernels, etc... Thanks to baldwinguy77 I was running KitKat 3 days after Google introduced it, even before any manufacturers had released phones with it.
The Xperia's lack of popularity with the general public is probably the cause of it's noticeable lack of developer interest. Few devs have one so few work on it.
I really like the phone, it's battery life is second to none. I may have to be satisfied running Lollipop but at least it is rooted so there's that.

A2017G Nougat is out

Download it here: http://www.ztemobile.de/support/downloads/?product_id=2100# or https://ramonkoopman.stackstorage.com/s/kym5c03hAejToNT

Sadly, its 7.0 -_- Reminder: Chinese version is already at 7.1.1. Why EU users are treated so badly ZTE?? ):
just take a look at the link. it's from channel designed for beta testers, it even says words nougat tester and has a date of 24.01.. so it's just the beta released as full to shut the "haters" on the internet.
ftp://nougat_go:[email protected]/Nouget Go/Firmware/7.0/20170124/update.zip
Has anyone figured out the FTP-login data?
It is asking for authorization ...
Please guys report back if it's the same butchered Version the US got. Try to send a photo via Whatsapp please and tell me if it lags
Waiting for the 7.1.1 update.
Its probably Betatester and betatester lol
They forgot to make the Nougat file public on their FTP-Server >.<

Some Guy on the German ZTE Forum found a Link on the sources of the ZTE website for a 7.1.1 Version. ZTE deleted his comment very quick.
The login data are from him too.

I saved the link only.

Just installed it 10 min ago.
So far, it is rather smooth.
WhatsApp works fine (sending photos, changing status etc.) and overall I have the feeling that there is a slight increase in performance and speed.
No Daydream though as far as I can see.

I can, yes. But it might take a while as my upload speed is not that high..

I highly doubt that that 7.1.1. release would be final.
My guess would be an internal testing build or perhaps a beta version for the previous beta testing team.

Yes, but I would still love to have it running, it has the latest security patch. It's probably on the same level as the Chinese 7.1.1 release.
There are too many speculations. I think that the only difference between the models is the modem and a couple of bloatware apps. That's it.
That "beta" is literally taking longer because of EU regulations, the 7.0 release we are getting is from 24.01.2017!. It's ancient.
They probably took the B15, re-branded it as B01 or something and slapped their modem/apps onto the software.

I'm on it. Will post when its ready.
So far everything runs smooth. But if it is indeed the US' B15 version as a base I'll look at the performance again in a few hours.
Sadly there is no Daydream yet, so my Daydream View has to gather some more dust on my desk :S
On the other hand it could be a good sign that there is already some testing out on the 7.1.1.
Maybe we will get that update a little bit faster...
Any mirror yet? Please?

Have you searched for daydream in the play store?
Maybe you can install the app from there like on LOS.

SS Galaxy View2. Still in production? Anroid 9.0 or 10.0 rom?

1) I noticed the Samsung Galaxy View 2 still appears to be active on the Samsung and AT&T Websites, but is currently out of stock globally and has been for a few months.
Does anyone know if this product is still in production?
-------------------
2) If it is still in production, and becomes available again, I do recommend this product for anyone looking for the largest available tablet.
Despite its shortcomings (only 1080p ips, mediocre processor and ram) it remains the largest tablet on the market, and I love mine.
-------------------
3) @deadman96385 I know you probably never want to look at Samsung View roms again after that last project, but if production continues on the View2, you may want to buy one :good: and then consider developing an Android 9.0 or 10.0 port (Currently on oreo 8.1).
I doubt it would be a pain like the original View rom. The awful proprietary charger from the View is replaced by standard Samsung usb C port at the very least.
This looks like yet again the only tablet on the market of this size. And it is, at the very least, popular enough to sell out.
The Oreo 8.1 is still supported by the vast majority of apps that don't require deep learning, and still holds 12% market share >>> but with google pushing 9.0 dev I think a 9.0 rom would vastly extend life of this tablet.
Thoughts?
Be well!
Oh are ATT bootloader still locked?
Oh wait are ATT bootloaders still locked with no way around? I thought Samsung devices were unlockable regardless.
If locked then I guess that makes my post irrelevant. Can someone confirm for me?

RIP. Understood. Thank you.
Then I will ask one last related question since you are qualified to answer:
How long do you see 8.1 Oreo remaining usable with the majority of app? From what I can tell from the dev release, 9.0 was made so that most apps developed for 9.0 API 28 can easily be backwards compatible with previous api. Is this true? Should I be confident apps will continue to run on oreo for some time to come?
This question should help anyone who stumbles across this thread decide whether or not to buy a used (or new if they ever resupply) Galaxy View2. Because I think if Samsung was going to update it to pi themselves they would have already.
BTW - on sale at best buy right now for $399.

I just grabbed one, to use for a project, but I admit that it's kinda brutal that it might be stuck at 8.0 forever. you cant even install Signal on it.
Hopefully a way around this appears to update it to 10.0 into the modern era. Must be why best buy dumped it -- recession plus shipped with end-of-life software

a lot of apps dont run on galaxy view 2. mail and youtube and maps will probably always run but lots of niche stuff doesnt run.
Hopefully someone figures out how to get this device from 8.0 to 10.0
Got my View 2 a few days ago and I'm loving it so far!
It would be such a game changer if someone could (somehow) get v10 running on the device.
Right now I can't get AT&T messaging working - I want to receive my text messages from my phone on the tablet - whenever I try to sign in to AT&T messaging I am immediately taken back to the AT&T Messaging login page. I've contacted AT&T support and they said they have created a ticket for support to resolve but not a lot of hope there... At least NumberSync is working.
From the sound of it, it seems it's very unlikely we'll ever see an OS upgrade which is sad but I'm enjoying device as of now!
i heard that samsung might change their mind and provide an update for it! but it might be thru at&t only
