My SGS3 works just fine for 2 weeks, until now.
Suddenly, it keeps randomly crashing and reboot into samsung s3 logo screen.
Oh, I have tried different roms (and stock rom also) but the crash still happen.
I also have tried wiping cache, dalvik, clean install, removing external sdcard, and restore factory setting. But none was effective.
Any ideas?
I had a similar issue with my Atrix and it turned out to be the SIM Card. Had it replaced and no more random reboots. I figured this out by checking the panic dumps...maybe there is a similar way to check this on the SGS3

Thanks for the response.. I tried it just a moment ago without sim card, and it still got the random reboot..
Any other people who got the same problem?
Is the phone unusually warm? The phone will automatically reboot if it overheats, but that wouldn't normally happen unless it's been left in the sun or overclocked.
I can get mine to go into a reboot loop if I play Asphalt 6 while outdoors, but the problem goes away as soon as I let it cool off for a minute or two.

Sorry to hear that man. Had a SGS with same issues. maybe Samsung has hurried releasing galaxy S3
I'd factory reset and only put on the important apps you use. Depending how long it takes for you to normally get a reboot you can slowly add new apps back to narrow it down. I had the same problem last year and thought I had a bad sgs2. But it turned out to be dolphin hd browser at the time that caused it and haven't had a reboot in a year. It could be something similar in your case. Hopefully its software related and not hardware

i just tried flashing normal ROM, after booting to "get started" page, approximately 3~10 seconds, my sgs just rebooted over and over again, until it show only black screen with battery icon on it (i think it may be charging animation while the phone is turned off).
ahhhh this is driving me insane!!
update : i just flashed hypergalaxy ROM and currently it is stable and not experienced crashing (yet ).
i'll give further report later today

Have you tried reinstalling FW with Odin? If yes does it still reboot after a factory reset with nothing installed?
yes, i have tried flashing stock rom using odin a few hours ago, but the crashing still happen.
my sgs3 now stuck at boot-standby5sec-crash-reboot loop.
so, i decided to bring my sgs3 to samsung service center tomorrow. hope they will replace it with a new unit
UPDATE : Samsung replaced my new SGS3 with a new hardware (not sure new device though, the flash counter reset to zero )
the problem seems to be hardware related
thanks for all your reply to my problem

I am having the same issue, I've had my phone since Saturday (6/23/12) and it crashes, reboots, apps crash, internet crashes, email crashes, etc. I can udnerstand a lot of apps may not be updated to ICS.. but no matter what I do.. everything crashes.. It's a bit ridiculous. I am a prior iPhone 4S user and am probably going to return this phone. I can't do much without it crashing or the screen freezing.. not being able to do anything for 2-3 minutes, etc. And they couldn't port any of my numbers from my prior phone because they didn't have the software update to do so yet. So overall, bad experience with the Galaxy.. and maybe I should have waited longer before buying this phone to work all the problems.

I'm very sorry that u have these problems.but there will always manufacturing faults when making so many units.only one thing to do,return it and get a replacement.when u get a fully functional galaxy u won't regreat it,it's a awesome phone.Samsung usually replaces the phone,so I think they will do the same in your case.anyway best of luck
After all the problem I've been through, finally I send my phone back to samsung service center.. they tried to reinstall stock rom several times, and in the end, they change the IC board to a new one.. and it does solve my probs..
SGS3 tebooting
Hi guys here is a peace of my experience
Bought the phone last year in November .2 weeks everything fine then it starts rebooting itself.retun it to the mobile provider and get it back in 3 weeks with conclusion that they experience the reboots as well and that the phone had some kind of software issue.in 3 hours i was back in the shop with my phone rebooting again.they send it again to service got it back yesterday with 4.1.1 android and they sad it may be caused with wrong customizing or not supported sd card, turned on the phone and had few reboots manage to update to 4.1.2 and today heavy gaming internet etc and no reboots so far.will test it till wendsday and see what happens.if it will reboots again then its going back to service and this time it is the 3 time so i will get a new phone.
Hi, i bought my huawei honor 7 back in november. It has been an amazing phone but since the past 2 months it has automatically restarted about 5/6 times. The battery was high enough every time and i wasnt playing an high profile game as well. It just restarted randomly when it was laying idle. Has anyone else faced this issue as well or is it just me? Pls Help!
If you are on stock firmware without modifications try to use the guarantee
Try a factory reset.
Don't forget to backup all your data before!
Envoyé de mon Honor 7
Yes. Can only confirm that the phone reboots at what seems random... on B371 at the moment.
Last time the phone was connected to my computer and hisuite (the software) was running.

As advised, try a factory reset.
Is it connected to the charger when this reboot behavior happens?
After factory reset also, if the issue prevails. it may be due to a Hardware issue. Try to contact service center if Factory reset didn work.
1 - Update to B380
2- Factory reset
3 - Don't install any apps for 2 days
4 - If you don´t get any random reboot, it maybe a app conflict.
5- If you experience random reboots most certainly is a hardware malfunction.
Hello,
i had bought a Redmi Note 4 and had received today, but when i try to use i had looked a problem because cellphone is randomly shutdown, after shutdown i need to wait about a 2 minutes to try to start again. After 6 minutes phone shutdown again, and i have same problem to start.
I can't believe that is overheating because its a new cellphone and as i said i had received today. I had tried a reset and no success, phone still shutdown.
Thanks
Overheating
I had looked that is a overheating problem, when system comes to 60 celsius cellphone shutdown.

If cellphone are "hot" it does not start, i need to wait to cellphone goes to cool to start and wait up temperature goes to 60celsius and shutdown again.

Hmm very strange, would start to think hardware problem if it persists between Roms. But you say it's fine other than after its booted into the ROM itself. Have you unlocked the bootloader, what Roms did you try?

Hi i had tried a 8.1.2 Miui, 8.0.4, global and chinese.
MY bootloader its locked, i'm waiting for xiaomi allow my unlock. When i boot on fastboot mode cellphone does not shutdown, but fastboot mode its only screen of fastboot, its not a system. I believe that cellphone is not heating, but its not sure.
Thank You
I'm believing that is a software bug, because when i plug he shows error message "Please plug out", and few minutes before i had started system and shows -3 Celsius and heat up to 60 celsius and poweroff again.
I had drain battery in fastboot mode and trying to solve this bug.
Maybe you could try flashing to the latest Global developer 7.2.9 & see how it boots then.
Other than that as gsmyth eluded too it's most likely hardware & I would be in contact with your seller A.S.A.P for a replacement.

Guys, do you still face it? I have new Redmi Note 4 with latest stable MIUI 9 and Android 7 and my phone just rebooted from no reason during a phone call...
I just had the same issue that started 2 days ago. I was running the latest official Lineage 0S and the device started rebooting every 2 minutes or so.
I tried wiping cache and dalvik which didn't help. Then I clean flashed the latest Pixel Experience and after about a day of using it the rebooting continued.
So this morning I flashed the stock fastboot ROM to see how that goes... and so far so good. I really hope it's not a hardware issue.
I will post here again if my rebooting starts again.

So? Did it stop? Mine is rebooting randomly. Tried every ROMs but dunno it didn't cause any issue in those although in a global stock ROM it happens frequently. Worth mentioning=> I had to root my phone. Wiped all my data, installed the old default stable ROM etc. still the issue persists. Did an analysis from Simple System Monitor app I gathered that everything is running okay except "pa_therm0" is showing whooping 95°C temp! Dunno it could be a wrong reading but anyone could help on this then I'd appreciate

Do you have a second SIM card inserted?
I figured out a while later that having a sim in slot 2 causes reboots. With an SD inserted and no SIM, reboots have stopped pretty much entirely. A friend of mine with the same device has the same issue even though he's running stock. I'm not sure if it's a factory fault of all devices but I'm afriaid I just need to use my phone as a single SIM device from now on

Yes I do have double sim cards inserted since 8 months. It could be a problem for my random reboot issue. But, recently I've cleared both Dalvik & cache partitions through the Recovery mode. People in other forums have mentioned that this solution has worked for them. Gladly till now there hasn't been any single random reboot happened by so far. Rest assure I'll keep you updated

Glad to hear it Wipe Dalvik & Cache is always the golden rule when dealing with custom ROMs.
Sadly though, it made no difference for me. Only thing that helped me is removing SIM 2

Well it seems like for me wiping Dalvik Cache & running on only 1 sim methods didn't helped at all. So I stopped using processor & battery hungry Snapchat app. Guess this should help.
You guys when you face such problems after you brought a phone you should definitely go and have it fixed or replaced it(or get your money back).Do not rush and unlock bootloader thinking that it will help you because if it is hardware problem it is over, and the service center has every right to blame you for its damage since you messed with it.Like my lg g4........

I only ran into the problem after unlocking the bootloader because I had only used one sim while everything was still stock. I know I could relock bootloader and send it in and probably get a knew device, but to me it isn't worth it. The cell service providers in my country are notorious for taking their time with repairs and replacements. It's not worth the 3-5 months it will probably take... I'll be just fine with a single sim.
I've had my honor 10 for over a year now, never experienced any issues, not even after updating to emui 10,however recently ive noticed the device restarting itself while not even in use,and these days its starting to sometimes freeze and reboot. Has anyone experienced anything like this, i am considering to do a factory reset however first id like to hear if anyone has any other ideas what could be the cause.
I'm experiencing exactly the same. I had no problem in two years but for the past two days I think my honor 10 froze and rebooted maybe 5/6 times... It's completely random, three times when I had the phone in hand, the other during night or non using period.
I'm also on emui 10 since it was available : currently on 10.0.0.177(C432E3R1P4patch01). @Anubiz_DK did you find any clues ?

My problem was the same, factory reseting it worked.
Started having same problem myself two days ago. I really don't want to do the factory reset, but it seems like it is the only way ?
Update, after the factory reset everything was good for a month, yesterday the issue came back, no apparent reason why
I had a similar problem, but after a couple of days it went away by itself.
Im also seeing visual bugs before some of the reboots, like colorful squares and such
I wiped cache partition yesterday and so far so good. Before wipe it was restarting 5-10 times a day.
Did the same today and it seems to help
Also i how much free ram do you have without an open app, seems to be conected to the issue, both time i had reboots it was around 800mb and 1.12gb,after wiping the catches ive stayed around 1.8-2.0 gbs
About 2 days after wipe of cache partition the reboots started again. No apparent reason why. Sometimes it happens when in use, sometimes it happens when not it use. Some times there are plenty of apps in background, sometimes 1 or 2. Sometimes it reboots 3 times in a few minutes, sometimes it goes 1-2 days without reboot. Heavy use and multitasking doesn't seem to trigger the reboot. Few times it even rebooted while booting and once it booted to safe mode.
Anyone tried checking if it could be a hardware issue, and are you all on emui 10
Im on EMUI 10. I can't think of any HW issue. Maybe RAM related?
The reboots started to intensify for last 4 days. I get about 5-15 daily at various situations. Formatting cache partition doesn't help anymore, i got one reboot about 5 minutes after wiping cache partition.
I just got August security update along with system update 10.0.0.180 (C432E5R1P4). Will report later if it helped with the reboots.
Well I got one reboot yesterday and one today. So no help here..
I have a new theory after traveling last night on a train, for a while there were no reboots, but as i was in a hell hot train last night the phone could not stop rebooting, sooo im imaginine its possible overheating issue

Hi! It's unlikely, IMHO, since my phone reboots too, but it's of ~room temperature, no signs of overheating. Maybe, it's thermal compound bug/lack, but unlikely.
At 4PDA, I've counted around 10 people having the same reboot issue. I've asked some of them here, but we don't know the reason for sure. 4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=904618&view=findpost&p=101416402
So, still guessing. One of them said that After downgrading to android 9.1 and resetting , her phone runs just fine. That trick does not work for me...
Important note : for the cases I've seen, it has started ~within 2 months (around Sept 2020)

I can confirm that. And I think it is quite strange. Could it be something with NPU unit?
BTW, I have early unit. I bought it right when the phone was available. In 5/18.
It had stoped. and it started again, honestly i have no idea at this point, there is no good reason for all this, im done with this at this point
I'm angry. I have sent my phone to RMA, the last day of warranty, 31st May 2020. The USB-C connector wasn't able to transfer data and it couldn't fast charge.
They actually accepted it and changed everything except motherboard. So 3 weeks later in June I got basically new phone back, with new battery, display, back cover... And because I wiped it before sending it to RMA, I did clean install and rightaway also a clean install of Android 10. Everything was working perfectly, battery life was great..
And then the damn reboots started, late September or early October. It pisses me of, since the phone has been recently refurbished in official service centre within the warranty. I was expecting to be able to use it quite comfortably for at least another year since the service. Possible up to 2 years...
The Zenfone 9 is a great little device. However, since today I have seen several automatic reboots of the device. Anyone else seeing this problem?
I haven't seen a reboot; any new app you've installed of late?
Good hint - I have installed one yesterday. Will uninstall and report back.
Unfortunately is still get 1-2 reboots a day. Not critical but annoying! Anyone else?

Yes I am. No worries. Device is great. Just software.
Did a hard reset - problem persists. Not sure what the cause is - working with Asus support on it.
Hi, a friend of mine with a ZF9 has got reboot every night during charge (he uses slow charge, this night he'll try normal charge).
He had reboot even during daytime, he did a hard reset yesterday and for now everything is ok, but I'll update with new info in case of.
I've been having those reboots for weeks now. There is an official thread on the asus forums talking about it. There are more than a dozen people who have also reported it and from the looks of it, Asus hasn't found the source of the problem yet. Out of curiosity, in which country did you buy it? Are you rooted?
my version is a french version. I neither had any beta OS on it nor was it rooted. I wanted to provide Asus with Logs but they rather wanted the device for repair, now I'm waiting for its return.
I doubt this is a hardware issue though as the reboots did happen in cold state w/o any system activities ongoing. The only special thing on my setup was that I used two sim cards in parallel.
I did a hard reset and he problem remained. I also used slow charging.
I'm from Italy and the phone of my friend is not rooted and with bootlloader locked.
I heard my friend minutes ago, and from when he deactivated programmed charging the issue seems to have disappeared. Have you got programmed charging on?
Yes, I have the upload scheduled. But I'm beginning to suspect that the problem originates from a lot in Italy. I just asked you because I thought it was from there.
Love this phone but also having the same issue. Bought from Asus directly (US site) too. There's a whole thread of folks with the problem too on their forum:
ZenFone 9 randomly restarts
Hi all, I bought an Asus ZenFone 9 from the UK online store. I started to migrate the apps from my old phone to the zf9 and once I finished I started to use my new ZenFone 9 as my main phone. However, I noticed around 3 dso that when i wentato unplug a fter charging the phone it looked as if it...

My friend hasn't got reboot since then for now, two days and a half ago.
My reboots do not happen while charging, FWIW. And they're always while the phone is idle (sitting on desk). I look up and see it's spontaneously rebooting...
I was having reboots on custom kernel, just updated to 32.2050.2050.34 without going custom kernel (still rooted) and have had no reboots yet.
Mine reboots while watching YouTube app, either with high brightness, while charging, or both. It seems to be less likely to happen if i clear cache from YouTube settings.
It typically doesn't happen in other apps. Phone is stock. EU version.
After testing for a few weeks, there is a good chance that the reboots on my device are due to Magisk (not modules)
