Fire TV Controller 2 on 6.0 - Nexus Player Accessories

I'm trying to get an Amazon Fire TV game controller 2 to work, but When I click add accessory, it never connects. both are in sync mode.
This says it works with the nvidia shield: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sh...zon-fire-controller-2-nvidia-shield-t3285100/
but I need to connect it over wireless. How do I do that?

gaming with controller

has anyone who has a dock been able to connect their dual shock 3 controller to TFP? I thought it was plug and play.
Just watched a video of someone doing exactly that. I believe its wireless via bluetooth also, but that may happen in ICS. Don't remember.

I *think* it will be PnP in ICS. Till then, you can purchase SIXAXIS app in the market, it's less then $2.00
I went out and bought a PS3 dual shock controller just to do this then found out that it only works if you use a usb cable, bluetooth is not compatible.
I found that to be lame.

You should check the Android Market, I'm pretty sure you'll find some applications letting you play with bluetooth.
Only certain game actually support a joystick. I think there is an app you have to install that works like a driver for it, but I have not tried it myself. However, it was said a WIRED PS3 or Xbox360 controller would work.
Bluetooth is supported too, but there are very few joysticks that match this. There is a Logitech PC controller and a Gamestop Tablet Gamepad that are supposed to work via bluetooth. Not sure on the requirements. I plan on getting the Logitech one to try this out; however, not sure when I will get around to it.
Here is a video of it in action:

Gamestop
Gamestop appears to sell/support a wireless controller.

Actually no, any app on the android market that would let you use the PS3 controller via bluetooth does not work on the prime unless you root it.
I had the gamestop controller and it is a total POS. It works with some games but they are not controls you can use to actually play the games just using that controller.. GTAIII for example.. You can only control your movement, you cant attack or jump or anything else.
The only game it works for is shadowgun. It doesnt works for any emulators, fpse, snes, sega or n64.
The Sixaxis app will let you connect a PS3 controller to your tablet, but you have to be rooted for it to work.

I imagine the emulator apps would need support for the controller programmed into the app itself, the tablet just recognizing the controller is there wouldn't be enough. each app will have to know what part of the screen to associate each controller button with. with PnP supported in ICS hopefully many more games & emulators will support controllers.
i got it to work. It is plug and play. You just have to go into controls and configure buttons. awesome for gaming.

The way the gamestop controller works, its not registered as a controller at all. It replaces your input method so basically its registered as a wireless keyboard that you cant setup.
My PS3 controller worked just fine being plugged into dock. I love shadowgun on it now. It is a hard game to play without controller.

Through bluetooth on the Droid and Nexus phones I've used it on. I assume it will work the same way on the Prime once we have superuser.

prime +controllers little support please?

Hey guys, I am considering 2 buy a new controller for my prime. i currently have a PC wireless xbox 360 controller, for this to work on the prime i need 2 use the usb dongle given 2 me when i purchased the controller. also Something is wrong with the probably my tabs understanding of this controller as when i use it in gta or whatever it thinks that the joystick is looking upwards(this does not happen on my desktop). Was wondering if any1 else had that problem.
Also reasons for considering changing is that I do not understand how I can map keys on my controller. there is only 1 app available for this(for the xbox 360 controller) called joy something if im not mistaken. If any1 knows of a tutorial of this I would be great full if you share it with me.
What controller does the trick for you on android devices(any links to it?)
thanx in advance guys
PS(has any1 got to play asphalt 7 with a controller? love racing games)
i'm using a ps3 controller, works perfectly with all supported games .
With the sixaxis app, you also can configure mappings for non-controllergames like Modern Combat 3

i tried the ps3 controller(snatched it off a friend but i was annoyed that I had to use the stupid wire:/) anything else working with sixaxis but not being a ps3 controller(its also expensive to buy 1:/)
You dont need to use the wire if you pair your controller with your tablet.
Yes u even can connect a ps3 controller to your Tablet without using the usb port on the dock. But you need the mac adress of the controller.
Here is a "How to" connect Ps3 controller without usb via bluetooth:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1503887
1. Installed the Sixaxis Controller app, opened it, and found the local bluetooth adress on the bottom-left of the screen.
2. Downloaded and installed Motionjoy Gamepad Tool on my computer.
3. Connected my ps3 controller to my computer using USB, and clicked "BluetoothPair", then "Custom MAC" on Motionjoy.
4. Entered my prime's bluetooth adress, and clicked "Pair Now".
5. Removed the usb cable and went back to my prime and changed input method to "Sixaxis Controller".
6. Clicked "start" and waited for it to say "Successfully Configered Bluetooth" on the sixaxis app.
7. Pressed the home botton on my ps3 controller and voila, it's connected!

[Q] PS3 controller with Kindle HDX?

I see that Kindle Fire HDX now supports bluetooth controllers. I was wondering if anyone had tried using a PS3 wireless controller with it. Did it work? I know in the past you could use A Playstation 3 wireless bluetooth Sixaxis controller but you needed to have a rooted android device and run the sixaxis app. I'm wondering if there support is now out of the box or if you still need root to make this work.
Can't you try it?
I went ahead and tried with my PS3 controller and HDX 8.9" The HDX would not see the PS3 controller when I scanned for bluetooth devices so it looks like it won't work without root and the rest of the software needed.

You need to side load the six axis controller app then sync it to your ps3 controller I have done it on my phone, but havent tried yet on the HDX. If I have some time over the weekend I will try to set it up and see if it works.
Did that but I can not find where to enable sixaxis support under keyboard and language so yeah its still not useable becuase of the settings setup in Fire OS
I also do not have root becuase ADB is not working with my Kindle Fire HDX apparently
Edit: Ok managed to get root by using another PC but the sixaxis app does not see the controller still even with root and the IME set to Sixaxis Controller. I type the address that the Pair tool on PC gives me and it basically tells me no controller found.
I was basically following the steps on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779347
Same error here

Have you tried it using an OTG cable?
OTG does not work in general, so you will not have it connected anyway.
As for gamepad I have purchased nyko playpad pro and it is working.

Accessories I've got to work on mine, keyboards, Controllers, OTG, etc.

These are the accessories I use to play/test apps/games on my Nexus Player. I've previously had (still do) ATV 2, Matricom Gbox MX-2 Midnight.
All of these work very well with the NP, haven't had any issues with navigation within menus or anything in NP, Kodi or 3rd party apps/games.

Remote-Nexus OEM

setup for xbox wired
Was there any specific setup required to make the xbox controller work with games from the playstore?

None, on the games I've played so far it has just worked with no 3rd part apps or any configuration at all, just plug n play.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
I've tested a Logitech k400 keyboard + touchpad, Wii U Pro controller through a mayflash adapter, and an Insignia 4 port usb hub. All work with no problems.
The wireless xbox 360 USB adapter also works. Everything connects with ease, it just can't interpret the dpad buttons.

game controller

hi!
I've recently bought the fire HD 6, and was thinking if there are any compatible bluetooth game controllers.
I was thinking to connect it to the TV and use it as a sort of android game console.
Thank you very much
Root and use a PS3 controller is probably your best bet.
The Ouya controller work just fine. Just press the OUYA button (located on the low center in the controller), and when two light start blinking, search as any device at bluethooth menu.
The Ouya controller has an integrated touchpad and can be used as a mouse on your screen. But if you're planning to play a game, remember it's depend if that game has the controller button mapping or you'll need to use Tincore Keymapper to do it manually.
I already rooted my KHD6, so I did the controller test after root, but I'm pretty sure you don't need the root to make it work. I use the same controller on my NON-ROOTED Fire Stick TV and works just fine.
PS4 Controller works like a charm, Played Pokemon On Myboy for a little while, while it was linked to my Chromecast.
I would say a PS4 Controller works out of the box as well, as I wasent rooted at the time.

I just bought this controller about week ago and it work with HD6 (I only use GBC,GBA, and Drastic emulators). They work good so far. I haven't test any Android games yet, but I assume it work fine. This controller is awesome. I used with my HD6, phone, and laptop. Recommended!
