Sailfish OS (also styled as SailfishOS or abbreviated to SFOS) is a mobile operating system combining the Linux kernel for a particular hardware platform use, the open-source Mer core middleware, a proprietary UI contributed by Jolla, and other third-party components.
It's a beautiful OS developed by the Jolla and the mer team. The UI is totally guesture based. So say good bye to your boring Android navigation bar. The OS is fast and butter smooth with zero lags. This is a totally new experience and certainly a delightful one from the same old boring mundane Android which has had almost the same UI since 5.0 .
Flashing Process:
Note: This has to be flashed over CyanogenMod 12.1
1. Download CyanogenMod 12.1: CM 12.1(Download it from here. Looks like CM servers are officially down.)
2. Download Sailfish OS 2.0: Sailfish 2.0
3. Wipe cache, dalvik cache system and data. Copy the two ROMs to your phone.
4. Flash CM 12.1 first, then Sailfish 2.0 .
5. Wait. It doesn't have a bootanimation yet so it will stay on the bootlogo for a while (5 mins max)
Bugs:
This is an alpha release. There are some bugs that will be fixed in a while. Here are the bugs:
1. Camera doesn't work.
2 Bluetooth doesn't work
3. Earphones don't work.
4. Calling feature might not work. Although you can recieve calls, you might not be able to hear anything.
4. Front cam has issues.
What works:
WiFi
Hotspot
Calling
RIL
Mobile Data
Media Playback
Detects SD card
Jolla Store
Camera
Bluetooth
Earphones
Sometimes, if you cannot download some apps and the app store says failed, got to
Settings -> Developer Settings -> and setup a password there.
Then go to terminal and type these commands one by one.
Code:

Trick to use android apps
Not very convenient but you can use android apps. You have to restart everytime you want to use android. I will be providing two more images available in the links below (boot.img and hybris-boot.img).
When ever you want to use android, just flash boot.img via recovery. Similarily, flashing hybris-boot.img will take you back to sailfishOS. A little inconvinient, but until i try to get sfdroid support, this is the best catch.
So flash like this:
CM12
Gapps 5.1 (ARM) ----- (This so that you will have GPlay functionality when you go to android).
SFOS
boot-otus.img
hybris-boot-otus.img

It may be useful to mirror the last CM12.1 snapshot to prepare for when the CM download servers go down. Also, if you'd like, when I have time, I can backport fixes for security and device specific bugs and compile a better CM12.1 base. You would then be able to rebase your Sailfish sources off the updated device specific CM bits too.

I have installed otus and am running it right now.
Although I miss many Android apps and WhatsApp, I really don't care for now.
For the OS: It is really fast and smooth. It's like things just happen.
WiFi and Mobile Data is stable, can make calls and receive them with no big of an issue.
Please continue working one it

Most of the bugs will be fixed for otus. Surnia and otus have very similar hardware so porting won't be a herculean task, but will take a wee bit of time. Maybe end of this month? And bugs might be same or less or more. Most likely less or same.
Cheers!
Nice work dude. I'll be looking forward to the surnia version!
It would be excellent to have this on surnia

UOS By UTeam is an Android distro that made focus on improving the User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX). UOS is community driven and open-sourced. You are free yourself to contribute to this project.
Unlike others, the aim of our project is to give the best to user and maybe someday to be a stock-rom-replacer. We focus mainly on the user experience on the phone, so that we will carefully choose features to put into the ROM. Yet, in the alpha version, we are still working on giving the users as many features as we can.
There are some notable features that appeared on this version of UOS:
- UCamera
- UOS Launcher
- Incremental OTA updates

Gonna flash this as a secondary in MultiROM. Will update this post with any issues I've found for the users, and will report on your site as well. Great to see another new ROM
Edit: Seems like a mix of CM and DU with a couple custom apps. This isn't a skinned ROM like the post seems to imply.
Nevertheless, I hope you guys can get some traction and make good progress here!
Also, I didn't test but since this is CM/DU based, you should be able to flash Gapps without issues. I'd suggest OpenGapps Pico just in case, though.

Hi, we are currently trying to make it better, that's why we release our alpha version. Since it's open source, I hope someone with the same interest could join us and make it come true.
BTW, those screenshots was taken in the same version that I've posted here lol, I don't know what makes you confused it .

Sorry to hear that but could you describe the situation? I'm clearly don't understand it, what encryption ?
If you can point out the encryption software part, I will delete the whole project, but if you are another hater, please delete this comment, it makes nonsense.
I noticed a few things. I couldn't nstall the ROM as an additional using Multirom. Also, no music player as a opposed to the information on the website.
It's quite a good work and you deserve encouragement.
Well this is nice I'm already downloading, does this force encrypt and will opengapps do ?

AOKP-ANDROID OPEN KANG PROJECT
What is AOKP?
AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project. It is a custom ROM distribution for several high-end Android devices. The name is a play on the word kang and AOSP (Android Open Source Project). The name was sort of a joke, but it just stuck, just like our infatuation with unicorns.
We fork the source code of Android that Google puts out in the open with every major version release, and we then add the magical unicorn bytes (read: we add some of the coolest features that are both useful and make your ROM awesome).
With AOKP, you can generally do a lot more with your device than what you could do with the original firmware that came installed on it.
Why AOKP ?
We were waiting for when you'd ask this.
There are a variety of reasons why a hilly billy Android user, on a bright sunny day, would suddenly start using AOKP and loving it.
For one, AOKP is lightweight. Most OEMs provide a heavy UI layer over Android and have loads of bloatware (i.e. apps that not everyone use every day, but you cannot remove because they're "baked in" by default). Since AOKP is built upon vanilla Android source, it has neither of the above.
Also AOKP has features that you will not find on your stock firmware. You can have a multitude of toggles to quickly flip a lot of your phone's settings right at your fingertips, or you can launch apps quickly from any screen using our Ribbons.
You can change almost each and every aspect of the OS, from its looks to the way it functions, with total freedom. And did we tell you, AOKP helps you make tacos?

FAQ
How often will builds be produced?
When I have the time and when I want to.
Some feature is not working, can you fix it?
If it is working on Lineage, I'll look into it. If not then it will probably get fixed eventually by the Lineage team.
I dirty flashed and now have some issues
I recommend a clean flash and stock kernel. If you ignore this, then please don't post your problems here before trying a clean flash.

Hi bro
Congratulations for the new rom.
Just wanted to suggest uploading to another site like AFH or Mediafire, Mega is hard to download from using phone, and their app has a lot of bugs, thanks again :good:

I installed it yesterday, and I expected more functionality... I don't know if it was bugged on my device or this ROM doesn't support it, but Quick Settings panel wasn't working at all. Can't wait for updates though!

"Quick Settings" not working is a big issue, and other ROM users should have noticed that as well..but they didn't, make sure you cleaned install this ROM and wiped (system, data, cache, dalvik cache) before installing.

CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub... and at CarbonROM Gerrit.
Pre-Disclaimer:
THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL BUILD. The intent is to showcase what is coming up soon. @frap129 and I have been working hard on getting taimen on a level we consider DD ready, especially from a security side of things.
Please keep any problems with those builds in this thread, we don't accept any bugreports for unofficial builds anywhere else.
Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash!
Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
Notice:
This build includes GApps for now. We're still working on ways to not prebundle it.
Before you flash, make sure you're on the latest 8.1 stock builds (and bootloader), then flash the ROM in TWRP.
MORE IMPORTANT NOTICE: We are very proud to announce that we are the first and only custom ROM to actually get the Now Listening Feature working on AOSP.

Is this ROM still in testing? And I tread that were supposed to have latest stock 8.1 build.. what's that supposed to mean?? I'm running RR Mod rn.. and I really wanna try carbon.. any help??
ROM is running very smooth! And it seems like it's the first one which doesn't push the cores of the G5 to 2GHz all the time so battery consumption is pretty low.
I had some crashes in the beginning after restoring APPs from Titanium Backup but by now no further issues. Camera is okay but could be better (crashes from time to time, 'Open Camera' is doing quite well!). But I guess this is due to the fact that Motorola hasn't released Oreo yet and some parts for building the camera parts properly.
- Magisk v16 works fine (had to install it twice but then worked)
- BT working
- ext. LTE support (can't test VolTE cause I don't have it)
- Safetynet passes
- SD Card access working
@rrajesh011, @vache - you did a very descent job! By now it's the best Oreo ROM I've tested.

Hello everyone
My device is officially gone as you are reading this message, which means there will be no more PE updates by me in the future.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone in this community, especially the testers and developers. Nothing will be possible without you guys
To those who are interested in following my work, my next device will be the OnePlus 7 Pro, and I will keep you guys updated on this channel.
Lastly, if you are interested in continuing PE support for OnePlus 5/5T, check out our official_devices repo for the requirements and application form.
Once again, it has been a pleasure working with you all!
Cheers.

Why don't you try it and help the developer by letting him know what works and what doesn't.

LTE is not working
Thanks a lot for the build..It is running really well..fingerprint works after reboot and also Netflix works as well.. for sim card not detected I think after reboot into rom we need to wait for 5 mins for the system to detect the sim.that how I was able to connect.i don't have any call issues.
The only thing bothering me is that when I make a call or receive call LTE drops to either 3g or nothing and can't use data while on calls..it didn't happen with pie..so no volte for me.i am sure how to get logs for this..
Which TWRP is working,? All of my TWRP ended with error 7.

It's probably because the magisk version works with root, but hasn't updated safetynet stuff (dunno the proper terms, haha)
Yeap, Iam those unlucky ppl. My Sim did not get detected. I still flashed for fun. Sytem UI, Device Personalization Service, and many other app was keep crashing. I went back to pie.

do you mean upgrade or make it more better?
Congratulations!!!! Amazing ROM!!!
Sent from my j5xnlte using XDA Labs
Hey, I finally tried this rom. And I will say this rom is perfect for me. I mean seriously, I can't believe that you don't have any pc. It's first time when I experienced this type of smoothness in any android q roms. All of the other roms are good but they are not very responsive , specially when you swipe across the notification panel.
Also , this rom has truly functional gesture navigation , which is my favourite I mean there are many other q roms out there ,for this device but none of them provide the back gesture , which is only present in your rom and as it is pixel experience then it is also clear that this rom feels much smoother than any other rom. And one more thing which I noticed is this rom booted in less than 3 minutes which is really quite empressive . Before the release of this rom , I was using aokp Oreo rom ported by franssisco funes because that rom is very smooth and stable than any other pie and q roms but now this rom is going to be my daily driver.
And once again thankyou very much for this great gift.

Hey dude! Thx a BUNCH for bringing PE (10.0) for this device, I have been testing out many ROMs and I'm download it and gonna test it today I hope, but my fear is it won't be getting more support and updates.
But as far as I could understand, it has a maintainer, right? So that means it will still be supported...?
And is there any chance of this build getting official support?

I am trying to make it more and more stable but i will not assure you of regular updates or making it official because right now i have only $30 credits left in my Google Cloud out of $300 credits of trial and i don't have a single dime in my credit card since from last one and half year, so therefore i apologize for not making it official and for regular updates?.

Oh dude, sorry if I "sounded" mean, I didn't mean it, I am Brazilian so I might type stuff in a bad way sometimes, but anyway, you're a genius just for having done it all without a PC, and I just started testing it and I really wanna use it as a daily driver, battery seems to be way better than in other ROMs, I just hope you don't drop support for it, that's what I meant. And I hope u get more money soon.
