[firmware] g930uueu4apl2 (sm-g930u) - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Guides, News, & Discussion

(January 9th, 2017)
This is the most recent firmware available for the unlocked S7 model G930U. I was able to obtain these files using the Samsung "Smart Switch" tool. I have zipped the files to save space and bandwidth, and to speed up downloads. Compare the SHA hashes to the unzipped files to make sure you have an identical copy. I have not flashed (tested) these files, I am providing them as is, flash at your own risk.

I've been trying to find some documentation on this update. Given its size (≈400 MB), it seems to be more than a simple security update. Does anyone have any details?

It has 3 months of security updates. I read that the USA models only get quarterly security updates instead of monthly.

I have been experiencing battery drain since this update, has anyone else experienced this?

are you sure

Problem fixed, had to do factory reset....

You are not the only one complaining about battery drain, I went over to the T-mob S7 forum and saw complaints there as well. I also just read this (Facebook and Messenger Server Update Drained Users Batteries More Than Usual)from lifehacker, maybe it's related?

I definitely experienced pretty noticeable battery drain after OTA update, but after doing a clean install through odin, no problem at all. On the other hand, I can't believe it is taking half a year to get to Nougat, it is kind of ridiculous - I can see why people are upset. I actually like Touchwiz, so maybe I can use that as justification for the wait lol. Galaxy s7 is a beautiful phone and worth it hardware-wise.

I find it a bit curious it's only a security update when carrier specific models are getting 7.0 at the same time. Asked Samsung but as per usual it's like pulling teeth to get them to comment on firmware updates.

Anyone know if Nougat updated on this version?

I'm not actually running this firmware, but as far as I know (just checked in smart switch), this is still the most current. So, no nougat yet. However, it does look like is some unreleased nougat firmware for the G930A https://forum.xda-developers.com/at...to-update-galaxy-s7-edge-firmware-to-t3541296

Can someone help me. I was on the previous version of the U software and I flashed the 4 files in Odin now the system won't reboot. I get a FAIL in Odin and "Unsupport dev_type" in the bootloader. Any advice?

I'm only a novice, so I can only offer novice advice....Not sure why it didn't work correctly. What model phone are you using? Have you tried flashing back to the previous U firmware in Odin? My last resort would be to flash stock firmware using smart switch. Maybe some one more experienced can chime in here. Hope you get it sorted out.

Somehow I managed to get it booted up again. I have no idea how many different firmwares I flashed but it booted up. Good enough to sell this phone which I have accomplished. There was a lot of confusion to me regarding what firmwares can be flashed on this phone and what is the proper method.
Some guides say that HOME_CSC has to be flashed other guides say CSC. Some guides say use PrinceComsy other say a different version. There is just too much unconsolidated information for this phone IMO. However, I have to say it was a very good phone. Just wish the bootloader was unlocked.

Is this software running bootloader 4? I looked in download mode and saw the SWREV: v4 (....) in the details

I tried this on my 930az, I'm on aqa1, used odin 3.12.3 but it said failed, sha256 invalid

Use 3.12 PrinceComsy odin to flash it. (Google and Androidfilehost are your friends) Put all four in the correct spots and flash it. I recently just flashed my 930az with the January security patch to this version. Worked perfect. I also did a factory reset in recovery. No issues at all.

What happened to this software? Installed it on my Chinese x820 Le Max 2 and it is working great. The FP scanner seems to be faster also! I am curious if anyone is planning to use this as a base for a custom rom, but when I came in the forum this evening, I couldn't find it
I think it was removed because the source was unknown. I think there were problems with encrypted partitions....
Works very well for me. I wiped DATA in TWRP after I installed update. Now all my firmware was updated by doing the update. After the update my phone was encrypted, I simply went into TWRP and wiped DATA after I installed his TWRP backup minus all the boot info. During boot is when that process seems take place, so only system was restored. I then made sure my DATA partition, that I could now see, was mounted and flashed SuperSu. I then added all my root apps as normal. The FP scanner is still somewhat slow, but works almost everytime. I am sorry that this was removed as it is actually better and faster than all previous Roms minus all the Chinese bloat, although a lot of it was changed to reflect US sources, such as all the videos. All in all a very good ROM.

I also forgot to mention my WiFi, Bluetooth connections work better now, as well as, my TMO WiFi calling. The firmware upgrades were needed and the device is faster and smoother now.
Jim, can you please highlight the steps need to be done to back up and not have encrypted phone? I am on the 15S pure evolution by teamspain. I don't know if my stuff is encrypted or not but please provide the steps to update to the 16S rom without any hiccups. Thanks!

Here are the steps I followed. Hopefully this will work for others. My phone is from China, but I do live in US. Supposedly this is supposed to be a US centric rom. Anyhow...
I first made sure I was on stock (15s) with stock recovery or simply flash via adb, a stock recovery image.
Next, I downloaded the ota - firmware-update <5.8_016s_sta.zip> and copied it to the root of my internal storage.
Using the stock file manager I renamed this file to update.zip. Still in the stock file manager, I clicked on it. This starts the upgrade process. After this is complete, all your firmware and most importantly, for me at least, the FP sensor.
However, if stock is fine with you, leave it like this, but your device will be encrypted.
So to remove the encryption which is on the data partition, I rebooted to fastboot mode and used adb.
At the adb prompt, I typed <fastboot boot twrp.img> This boots twrp without loading into your recovery partition.
I then wiped my data partition and re stored using a modified version of the TRWP backup file that I had also downloaded from the same source. I had unzipped this on my C: drive of my PC and removed the boot files <boot.emmc.win and the md5 file>
I then re zipped this and copied to my internal storage and flashed it using the restore option. This restored only system data. The device was now unencrypted and my data drive was visible in Twrp.
I then mounted the DATA partition from inside TWRP and flashed SuperSu.
After that I rebooted normally, I then proceeded to install all my rooted programs as normal. This process should also work with the Indian rom.
My x820 is also from china, how do I know if it's encrypted or not? Right now I have the teamspain rom installed, do I need to really go back to stock 15s or can you upload a stock recovery for us. Also how to wipe data partition, and restore with the modified twrp back up? The guy who uploaded the 16s stuff deleted the thread so we have nothing to go with. Can you reupload all necessary files, and how to remount the data partition again from twrp?
I don't have the files. That is why I was looking for them in the first place.

The two versions that have been encrypted, thus far, the Indian version and the US version. All the other Roms do not have encryption. If you can boot into TWRP and see your data partition and mount it, you are not encrypted. This form of encryption merely hides or makes your data partition invisible to third party programs, like TWRP.

It is leaked firmware for US models with August 1 2016 Android security update and we are still in July. LMAO.
X829_5.8.16s_EN_US_update (Official Firmware with data partition encryption)
X829_5.8.16s_EN_US_rooted (Rooted firmware with data partition decrypted) -> I don't know who rooted it so caution is advised. I am using rooted ROM without problem though.
Apparently, it works on any X820 (China) and X821 (India) model. But after flashing, your phone model will change to X829. I also don't know who leaked it and do not take any responsibility for the firmware causing irreversible damage.
I am uploading it to mega.co.nz right now. Uploading stock firmware will take 2 hrs and rooted firmware will take another 2 hrs. I will post the links when done.
Hi. Which languages is available in x829 version ? Do you know also which bands are activated ?

I figured that this was the case, since all the software, such vid files in Live, were US related where they are all Chinese obviously in the Chinese version. I also know they have been opening offices throughout the US, but haven't released anything yet in this country. Even though there might be a slightly different model released here in the US, hence the model number being x829, the software is working flawlessly with my Chinese x820.

If it is official firmware, then I don't see a point why it was taken down. There is no clarity. Did OP himself take it down? The links have disappeared from his site as well.

The OP did take it down because he did not know he was not supposed to release it because it was pre-release firmware.

Have you ever heard of a Cease and Desist order? People that leak software can get in trouble with the company that is developing it. Have you ever been a beta tester? I am currently testing for Microsoft and Honor and had to agree to not release any of their software until they are ready for it to be released. If you are a beta tester, you will get bounced from the program and if you're an employee, fired. Plus depending on the severity, you could also end up getting sued.
I am neither a beta tester nor an employee. But I do respect that the dude didn't want it posted.

[ROM][STOCK][DEBLOATED][5.1.1] Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 LTE 2016 (SM-T285)

This is a custom Rom I made for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 LTE (SM-T285), which suits my tastes.
If you have suggestions, send me a PM.
UPDATE 09/07/2016
================
A newer version that runs "root" (sepolicy constrained) scripts can be found here:

* Removed Touchwiz launcher and redundant samsung apps (Hancom office, Kidzone), replaced with Trebuchet
* Enabled r/w to the external SD Card
Installation Instructions:
Odin or Heimdall Required.
--FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK--
1. Make sure to backup of your data and have a copy of your stock Rom in case something goes wrong.
2. Make sure your device is OEM unlocked. (Enable Developer settings and Enable the OEM unlock settings)
3. Extract ZIP file below and flash the tar.md5 file using ODIN, for details on this kindly look for instructions in the xda site.
4. For Heimdall you can use 7zip to extract the system.img from the tar.md5 and just flash the system.img itself.

You have to go to download mode and then use Odin to flash. Unfortunately this does not root the T285.

Yeah the newest version checks for xposed and a bunch of other things. Actually a lot of people were pissed that they did this. You'd probably need to revert back to stock if you want to play. Only systemless root and xposed with magisk works for Pokemon go now.

To FRP unlock you have to go to developer settings and switch oem unlock to false. The stock rom should have it unless you are using a carrier locked version that I a! not aware of.

FRP is specifically designed to prevent flashing if you can't login to the device. You won't be able to flash unless the person has turned off oem unlock beforehand. I am not aware of any method to bypass this on this device.
Also the T280 and T285 have slightly different hardware so using a different recovery image is not recommended. Also since both devices have a locked bootloader, I highly doubt you can even change the recoveries from stock as I would imagine samsung using different keys for both. At the worst case it still always possible to reflash them back to stock if you do want to try

I've dirty flashed jedld's T285 debloated rom, then dirty flashed his T285 tinker rom on top of that. Both onto my T285M. Working flawlessly. Wished he'd kept the mail app, but without touchwiz I guess that wasn't possible.
Something else they blocked in the kernel or with SElinux on the T285M is screen mirroring. Can only cast directly from apps.
Still I am happy overall. Now looking for a castrated version of daemonsu!

Double Aargh...salt on my wounds ttb
Now my contact in S. America will not even reply to me
Contemplating on getting the Samsung J max 7.0 dual sim...yes no U.S lte but has an 8mp camera and a flash...similar to the T285 otherwise...can't say how many times I needed the flash for photos or even if for looking at labels peering into dim areas behind a monitor or tv..maybe end up in same pickle of no root...will see (number is SM-T285YD so it is based off the T285 it seems-maybe a Latin American version soon?)
Also trying to get the T705M from another source but taking forever...low hopes think it will come through

got another one - white color ...as a gift...God Bless - great device battery life is just incredible - nothing fancy but does its job...keeping this one (had it since early November) gave up on the 705m
Is this ROM compatible with Google Safetynet? I can't seem to log into Pokemon GO since I installed Tinker edition, so I'm thinking to switch to this one instead.
Haven't tried it but it should work.
Is the root part contained in boot.img or in system.img? In other words, when using Heimdall I should flash both system.img and boot.img, isn't it?
I'm getting bootloops with CM13, Omni and I don't know how I got Tinker working, I kind of remember flashing boot.img, then wiping, then flashing system.img, then wiping again.
EDIT: got this one working too by flashing boot.img (Heimdall complains it cannot receive confirmation msg) reboot into download again, then flashing system.img (this time heimdall does reboot the phone). however, pokemon go still wont connect due to google's safetynet compliance.
I'll try flashing recovery in case it is TWRP the one clashing with Safetynet.
PD: I didn't backup stock at the beggining of the process so I'm pretty much screwed with Pokemon until I can afford a new phone. But if someone has a stock ROM for T285MUBU0API2, please ping me.
EDIT2 Got pokemon working. I reinstalled TWRP (this ROM's recovery is the stock one, of course), then flashed unSU. It removed SuperSU binary and Google SafeNet got working again. I can't believe that, after so much hours I've put into finding the best custom ROM for this crappy phone, 95% of the time was spent in trying to get Pokemon GO running. I'm close to 40, FML.

[FOTA][MM][DOWNLOAD] SM-G930A APJ4 Update File

Today I have pulled an MM Firmware-Over-The-Air update from my AT&T Galaxy S7 and uploaded the original .CFG file and my compiled .ZIP files for flashing via recovery. Download the file of your choice and place it onto your devices external storage, reboot into recovery, select "Apply Update From External Storage", search for the downloaded file, select it, click yes, and wait for the flash to complete.
Another note: As normal, this WILL NOT wipe any of your personal data. But just know that your recovery might not allow you to flash from External storage if your device is rooted, which means you will either have to completely unroot and restore dm-verity status or try flashing the file via ADB.
If you have any troubles please feel free to write below about it. If this helped you, please be sure to hit the thanks button.
To be clear, I will capture the Nougat update for this device once it is OFFICIALLY released. The update file in this thread is a MM update.

Note that I believe this is just an update to MM. I would expect that you'd need to get the ODIN files for the G930AATT4APJ4 build and do a full flash / wipe to this one.

Yeap it doesnt apply for Beta they are always ahead of time only official releases match. (There's always that one build that wants to break the rules, but only happen with unreleased builds mostly because they apply the security patch early for testing and compiler gives that build code.)
It always has been that way with Samsung since the OG Galaxy S.
Check my posts from several years ago on earlier galaxies and you'll notice.

Can I ask you a question? how did you manage to compile .Zip file to flash from recovery? is it flashable from stock recovery? how did you manage to add original signature?

There was no compiling. You can flash the ota update files from stock recovery after renaming the file name extension from .cfg to .zip.

I didn't flash the update file itself, I had the ODIN files for it. They're the same thing.
When it comes to official updates, no signature modification should be necessary (Or possible, for that matter. I don't think there's a way to modify the signature. If there is, I don't know about it.). The only thing different between the 2 files is the file format.
Hope I answered your questions.

I have an Unlocked G930A (not really unlocked just using a cricket SIM) But I cannot Get the Software Updates For it because of AT&T. I have seen the information on reflashing it to the U software but i really dont want to have to restore everything to my phone unless i have to..
The Version currently running on my phone is vulnerable to the bluebourne exploit and im trying to get that patched. :/
On a side note. are you able to do a packet capture while scanning for the updates? There is one on the play store that will also let you perform a MITM on the application and you should be able to capture anything sent over SSL in plain text/hex/etc
I did Want to Ask you a quick question. How did you capture the FOTA package to begin with?
I wonder if it is possible to setup an Authoritative only dns server and then use it to spoof the location of the update servers. to create a DNS method that would allow the FOTA to be pushed to devices no longer on AT&T
Anywho if you can get those firmwares and get me full packet captures of just the update application while it is checking and downloading the update, i might be able to create a web application that is able to capture the headers sent by the phone that identify its model/fw version/etc and be able to push the firmware update Via the built in option in the settings, (although you may need to swap your dns settings for a moment and install a CA cert that allows validation of a connection. im not too sure if a CA cert will need to be installed because im not sure if they push the updates over a SSL/TLS connection. Using the data collected here may also pave the way to enable this to work with other models and carriers and manufacturers. (my hypothesis is that packet captures would be needed on any firmware updates "you" would want to push with this)
Basically Im thinking it might be possible to download those zip files along with the packet capture data to create a simple web application that is able to tell the phone there is a software update available. It would require using a 3rd party DNS server to "redirect" the connection to a server that doesnt care if your an at&t customer. It might also need a self signed CA cert installed into the device to Validate TLS/SSL. From there it might be possible to have the server 301 redirect the zipfile to another url that is behind a CDN to reduce the risk of ddos and keep the server(s) stable keeping the downloads reliable and fast.
Seeing how the Firmware update is already digitally signed by Samsung and/or AT&T it should probably install without an issue. I dont see the possibility of the wrong stock firmware being flashed on the wrong phone provided the manufactuer had a proper assert statement in place to verify the model and sw/hw versions, and im pretty sure a stock recovery wont accept a firmware signed by any key.
I might be Going off topic here, But one more question.
Do i actually need AT&T service to download the OTA updates from the Software update function in the phone settings.
What i mean by this is does the SIM card need to have an active plan on it? or can it just be provisioned to their network with out a phone plan and downloaded over wifi?
UPDATE: It Can Now be officially confirmed that Carriers and Samsung Deliberately block OTA updates when you unlock the device. there are thousands if not tens of thousands out there on a variety of devices as far back as the S4 that may not have been able to get updates. just because they used a Cricket Sim or unlocked the device. I also Spoke with AT&T customer support today and got told the blatant Lie that they push the same OTA updates through the cricket network to ensure that AT&T devices on it can be updates. I also went to samsung service center at bestbuy and they told me my phone was up to date when its not. Samsung Smart Switch Also Reports that my device is up to date when i know for a 900% fact it is not.
So it looks like Someone is going to have to write an app that Hijacks the Requests and replays a valid packet capture just to get the phone to update in its orignial intended built in method.
The sad part is the carriers would see this and just write a patch to prevent it rather then change their policies.
Basically The carrier has the right to deny you a software update because you left their network and leave you exposed to Critical Security Vulnerabilities.
That is their way of sticking up their Middle Finger at the FCC for mandating carriers unlock their devices and the end user who either met his/her contract obligation or outright paid for his/her device
[SARCASM] basically its like saying hey we know you paid for your device, but **** you, you left our network and even though the updates come from a samsung controlled server were going to ensure our middleware deliberately blocks your device from updating so you remain vulnerable and you information is stolen, That'l teach you for unlocking your device and leaving our network because we charge literally an arm and leg for service, how dare you as a customer go against our big monopoly that seeks to buy out every major ISP and cable provider in america but hey thats alright were still winning but because you left our network we will block these updates so we can further Sell your information and viewing browsing habits off to the NSA (Google TITANPOINTE tinfoil hatters!!!!) unless you want to send your phone off to one of our service centers where one of our butthurt technicians will see you rooted your phone and say it has damage and turn our free reflashing service into a paid repair and charge you through the ass for service, also did we mention were not going to update the software because our application is designed not to tell you there is an update available if you unlocked it or used our Subsidary cricket SIM in the device and didnt unlock it Or you can go on XDA and grab an odin package an potentially invalidate your warranty and then when your device comes to us for a cracked screen we can deny you the repair even though the modifcation wasnt a modifcation and has nothing to do with a cracked screen. [/SARCASM]
Anywho im going to Bite the Bullet and Grab an Assortment of AT&T contract Sims and Go Phone sims and Other Carriers, Im going to go to the local pawn shops and buy an assortment of devices and attempt to downgrade each and every single one of them back to their old original firmware versions, Dump all the FOTA updates and dump the packet captures and i guess i will have to research the possibility And be that asshole who gets sued for reverse engineering their software.

1.) Turn off the phone. Hold down Volume Up + Home + Power until you see a little Android guy. It will say Applying System Update or something like that possibly, and just let it do it's thing until a menu comes up.
2.) Select "Apply update from ADB". You can scroll using the volume buttons and select using the power button.
3.) Make sure you have ADB and the proper drivers installed on your PC:
http://dl.adbdriver.com/upload/adbdriver.zip
4.)Put the firmware in the ADB folder. You can rename it to anything easy to remember like "FIRMWARE".
5.) In the ADB folder, hold SHIFT + right mouse click and choose "Open command window here". Then type the command "adb sideload FIRMWARE" (where FIRMWARE is how you named your file).
6.) Wait patiently.
7.) The phone will reboot and will hang at AT&T logo. This can take another 10 minutes, just wait until it's done
Ok, so I'm a novice at best on flashing with Odin... just flashed my AT&T S7 for the second time today, loading the SM-G930U version of Oreo (G930UUEU8CRJ2).
My understanding is that the 8 in the firmware version (G930UUEU8CRJ2) indicates that it is bootloader v. 8. I also understand that once you update the bootloader, it is impossible to downgrade it... So when I realized I couldnt enable Wifi calling on SM-G930U firmwares I thought I would flash back to the AT&T firmware, and then debloat it to improve the performance. But i cant find an SM-G930A Oreo Rom with BL v. 8.
I thought this one might be, but the 3 files seem to be independant of each other, and the 3rd file that lloked like it might be BL8, is less than 50MB...
So Im hoping you can provide some guidance, and im hoping i didnt shoot myself in the foot with this SM-G930U firmware.
Thank you

Awesome! Thank you, thank you!
I actually really like Oreo, just trying to get Oreo and WiFi calling working on my phone (My Office at work fights all day for 1 bar of cell signal), I had hoped that WiFi calling worked in the SM-G930U variant since everyone talked about it running so much better, but alas, it still doesn't support WiFi Calling (Stupid me for thinking it might have had support added recently).
Thank you again
(My Wife is sure to get upset with me once again working on my phone again today... whoops)
Thanks , G930AUCS8CRJ2 is working fine so far. Do you mind sharing how you go about 'converting' a set of ODIN files to a flashable adb zip? Do you just unextract every single archive in the .md5 files? and then zip it all up? And would rooting to G930AUCU4CRI2 brick my phone now that I am on CRJ2? My bad for all of the questions.

I was thinking something like that was possible. I have baseband version G930AUCU4CRB5 Android 8.0.0 on the AT&T Gal S7 as mentioned, I never saw any updates from this version to go up to a newer version or get into regular updates from OTA. 2 issues I would like to also fixed, that came with the manual update to 8.0 oreo on my phone was the HR heart rate sensor on the back by your flash(red LED) always goes off.. And have tried to go to Samsung health and do some settings to turn it off, but seems to show back up eventually. Also, the issue of not having a working LED indicator, works fine when the phone is POWERED off. and charges. But in OS, it won't work, screen off or on bc of the update. If anyone knows how those issues could be fixed and if there is a possible newer update from my baseband mentioned below. And thanks for the response.
HI, Help needed
Hi,
I wanted to check if it is possible to flash the latest Oreo firmware you have here for downloading dirrectly to my samsung s7 that is currently running on 7.0? Current BaseBand is G930AUCU4BQK2
Basically what happened was that i lost all my contacts on my phone, I ended up download Dr.Phone to my laptop, which i used to try and recover my numbers. What i didnt know was that dr.phone rooted my device which has caused me nothing but headaches.
I now want to flash my phone and get updated to oreo and have my phone working normally again. Since dr.phone did whatever it did to my phone I lost use of my finger print scanner, had to disable samsung health as it kept trying to open on its own, my phone is lagging and freezing constantly..
I just want my phone to be normal again and unrooted and updated.
Lastly my phone is an AT&T device, that i bought second hand in Dubai, if i flash stock firmware is it going to carrier lock my device to AT&T again?
Any advice and help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

N970U and N970U1 Firmware Links Here

For those who aren't already aware, N970U is the model number of all of the US carrier versions of the Note 10. The N970U1 is the model number of the same device, but sold by Samsung SIM unlocked and with no carrier bloatware. Firmware is 100% interchangeable among these models: any U or U1 firmware version can be flashed to any U or U1 device at any time, assuming that you're not trying to downgrade the bootloader. A "U to U" or "U1 to U1" flash does not require a factory reset, but changing from one firmware to the other will require one. Also, U firmware is identical for the 4 base files (AP, BL, CP, CSC) for each individual build, no matter which carrier it comes from. So if you download 2 different carrier versions of the exact same build, the 4 base files will be identical. Where the firmware differs is in the USERDATA file - that's where the carrier bloatware and customizations reside.
This is not a "beginner's guide to Odin flashing" type post/thread, so I won't list basic, step-by-step instructions. My threads are geared towards those who already know what they're doing. If you're new to manually flashing Samsung firmware, I recommend you consult one of the "beginner's" posts/threads - there are tons of them here on XDA.
Happy flashing!

U1 firmware: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=297978
NOTES:
- DON'T QUOTE THE OP WHEN YOU REPLY, kthx
- I have an identical thread for the Note 10+
- My zips are compressed extra small for space and bandwidth savings. The default Windows extractor can't handle it, so you'll need a 3rd party tool like 7zip, WinRAR, etc
- My naming method for folders on AFH is: build - bootloader - Android version
So "SAT - 1 - 9.0" means the full build number ends in SAT, it's bootloader version 1, and it's Android 9.0. When bootloader and Android versions increment, the first build to have those changes will have its folder notated appropriately.
- HOME CSC file keeps data intact; using the other CSC will wipe data. Flashing USERDATA will also wipe data
- I know AFH servers/mirrors can be wonky sometimes, so if you want to download the latest version of whatever firmware you're seeking yourself, you can do so via SamFirm or Frija (plenty of links and threads here on XDA). I pay for a subscription to a site that gets beta builds and also gets the official releases (usually) before they hit SamFirm, so that's where my files come from. However, I don't have unlimited bandwidth on the site, and it's also quite time consuming to download the files, zip them up, and upload them to AFH. And, I do threads like this for every single Sx and Note x model - so I won't be uploading every single update version. The only full builds that I upload are ones where I get access to a new bootloader and/or Android version early, before they hit SamFirm.
- You can get USERDATAs from SamFirm for everything but AT&T and Cricket- those files will never be on SamFirm. So I'll try to always upload at least one USERDATA per bootloader increment for those carriers, and I'll also upload any full builds if AT&T is the only carrier to get that specific build, because you won't be able to find the files anywhere else.
- For USERDATAS (all the others are self explanatory):
AIO = Cricket
CCT = Xfinity Mobile (Comcast)
CHA - Spectrum Mobile (Charter)
TMK = Metro PCS
- the correct procedure for switching from one carrier's firmware to another is:
1. Flash full U1 firmware package including non HOME CSC
2. Upon boot, insert a SIM of the carrier whose firmware you want
3. Watch for the popup that says "reboot to apply new carrier settings" etc, and do it
4. After that restart completes, reboot back to Download mode and flash the full U firmware package, with the USERDATA file of the carrier whose firmware you want
Firmware is now available via SamFirm and Frija, but manual entry is required in a lot more cases than previous models. Hopefully that's just because the phone technically doesn't release until Friday, and that they change that on Friday or soon after.
Manual entry is currently required for VZW, CHA, and TMB U firmware, and for all carriers/regions/CSCs of U1 firmware

Thanks for the links. I wonder if my Note10 tomorrow will get a software update out of the box.

I only saw the news about the Verizon models getting updated. Theoretically that means that Xfinity and Charter should also have updates, since they all get the same updates at the same time. Not sure about any other models yet

By the way, I did use manual entry in SamFirm to find TMB firmware and download it. As a rule of thumb, I usually don't flash my phones right away after getting it, as I want to make sure that it isn't defective
Wonder if we need another Odin version or the regular 3.13/or Patched would work

Cool, my PC is ready and setup for Note10 Any idea if XAA firmware and the carrier's firmware are within the range/build date to allowing flashing? As I know the downgrade usually fails.

You can't downgrade if there's only one software version that's been released so far - there's nothing to downgrade to.
But even if it's months or years down the road, the flash will only fail if you're trying to downgrade bootloaders. As long as you operate within the same bootloader, you can flash anything you want
This is the one I'm getting direct from Samsung: SM-N970UZSAXAA. It is supposed to be unlocked. I asked for a Sprint sim Card. I hope it's not tied to Sprint, but can be moved to any US Carrier if I want to once the TMB-SPR merger completes.
SamFirm shows this firmware for TMB: N970USQU1ASH4 and I checked U1(XAA) as well and they are the same

Looks like everything is back to normal, in SamFirm. Manual entry is now only required for VZW U firmware, as has traditionally been the case. Also, if you type in an older version for VZW, it will automatically give you the newest version, if there is one. So you don't have to always know the exact newest version - entering in the correct details of any previous version should always trigger the newest one.
Also, SH4 is now showing as the newest build for U1, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Spectrum gets SH5 (no idea why), and Sprint is still back on SGO.

Received my Note 10 U1, tested it on original firmware XAA(build: ASGO) and just now completed flashing to T-MO without updating to ASH4 build and want the phone to find and update firmware to see if OTA works. To get to download mode, I needed to press Vol + and - and power and the same time.
Flashed 5 files: BL, AP, CP, regular CSC and USERDATA. Device shows T-Mobile logo at boot, has Advanced Messaging, Video Call and I don't see any bloatware except for couple of T-Mo apps.
Went through setup and was able to get new OTA with August 1 patch(screenshot)
Wow great job! Can I get the link for the 10+ ...
I have the unlocked one but I have att and the only way to get wifi calling is flashing the U firmware

You can go to my profile to find all of my threads. But flashing U probably won't give you wifi calling. It's been extensively discussed in my S10 threads, and it usually doesn't work if you have a U1 model

Quick question, did your provider codes change? I flashed the Verizon files and am still stuck on XAA? Any help would be appreciated.

Initially, before I put in TMB sim, phone was on XAA/XAA/XAA. Now after all was said and done, my phone shows TMB/TMB/XAA. Make sure you put in the sim when you get the phone and when it has original firmware, so it can apply sim carrier's settings. Then you can flash and get the results that you need.

That's not much information.
1. What's the current U build?
2. Which U1 build are you trying to flash?
3. Where do you get that error exactly?
4. What Odin version are you using?
5. Do you get any other errors, either in Odin or on the phone itself?

Sorry, the phone was purchased as a unlocked version from samsung, model number SM-N970UZSAXAA/SM-970U1 is what the box says.
1. N970USQU1AHS4 is the build that I was able to flash. And the actual problem is that I had a brain fart and didn't read your simple instructions and instead of booting the phone first I opened the box and flashed the firmware. The issue I am having is my "Service provider SW ver. is stuck at XAA/XAA/XAA and I'm trying to get it to switch to VZW.
2. N970U1UEU1ASH4 I looked at all the n970u1 firmwares on samfirm and this was the only one that had XAA.
3. After I load the files into their locations and hit start it checks the files and the fails on the 4th step, I can run it again and find out exactly if you'd like.
4. 3.13.1 patched I believe.
5. None
I may be taking the wrong route to answer my problem. I really need help with getting it to show the right service provider code VZW.
Thank you for your help.
