Hi, well i had a crash course in flashing etc last night after messing around with a LCD Density app. I was running stock 2.2 and after messing around my streak would not get past the dell logo (before animation)!
Managed install Clockworkmod and Dj_steves 1.9.0!
Luckily i was using Titanium Backup Pro when i had stock and i am slowly getting back to how i liked before i buggered it up!
Just got a few questions...
1. Whatsapp restore messages!
I restored the app and it said it was restoring messages but it doesn't. Then i thought i would delete the app and install a fresh copy from the Market, i let it install and it said it was restoring but again nothing! Using Root Explorer i can find the large restore files on my SD Card but have no way to bloody restore them. It's driving me crazy! Does anyone have any ideas???
2. Am i using the best ROM? like I i have always had stock rooted so have not kept up with the scene!
Hope someone can help, i'm just not very experienced with flashing, restoring etc. I'm a IT Tech though so not stupid, will give anything a go just need my Whatsapp Messages back!
Thanks!
Cant help you with Whatsapp but I can recommend ditching the Titanium backup and Clockwork MOd.
Once you get it up again, flash StreakMod recovery and use MyBackUp Pro.
Clockwork and Titanium don't play nice with the Streak. And in my opinion yes, you are using the best ROM, IMHO
I'm actually having the exact same issue with a Galaxy S II - has whatsapp ever solved this for you? I contacted them - but have yet to receive a reply.
Really annoying...
Hope my thread help you, although your problem occurred 4months ago...

Hiya guys, nice to be on a new section of the forum
I've got a bit of a problem.....
Just bought a SGS-III and traded my old Xperia Play in for it. Before trading it in I did a full Nandroid backup, and THOUGHT I had backed everything up using Titanium too, however, my messages weren't backed up
I had some messages on that phone that I need to get back, so have been trying everything I could to find them in the Nandroid backup and add them into the system og my new SGS-III.
If anyone can help it would be great!!
This is something REALLY important to me, and for once I am really begging for help.
I was using Go SMS and Go Launcher Pro on the Play and I have already downloaded Go SMS onto the SGS-III.
The XPlay was on Gingerbread 2.3.4 and the SGS-III is on 4.1.2.
I have now tried AppExtractor from the market, and using unyaffs to get files from my back-up. Neither have worked for me
Found this and tried it, but still no luck

I did this yesterday using Titanium Backup for my SMS/MMS
You need to go into Preferences and check the *Migrate system data [Experimental] option
Then you go to More - Extract from nandroid backup
There it is listed as Dialer Storage
You can probably do the Phone log this way to but I did look for it.
I would recommend you do a current backup of [SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage before you attempt this.

NOTHING seems to be working for me, I am starting to get really desperate.
I still haven't got anything to work, so PLEASE, if u have any ideas please let me know =/
Hi Folks,
I apologise in advance for my limited knowledge, I am not as techy as I would like to be, but here is my issue:
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100T) running Android 4.1.2. I made a habit of backing everything up on Kies version 2.6.0.13091_9.
Kies claims to have backed everything up but when my phone had some issues and was wiped, I tried to restore which worked fine except my sms messages where not restored. I have 3 years worth of sms's that are important to me.
Likewise, messages and content within programs like viber no longer appear but program content like say Whatsapp does.
My internet searches on resolving the matter lead me to here; can someone please bestow some of their wisdom upon me and help me get the complete backup back on my phone?
Thanks
Helpless Amateur.
Back up with cwm/twrp recovery. Make a nandroid of your rom and don't forget preload . Use google to back up you're contacts.use an app of play store to back up you're messages. BTW have you heard of Efs? You need to back that up too. Use hc ktool to back that up. It's also on play store.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your response, but my phone is already wiped and the only backup I have is what kies backed up (claiming it backed up everything including txt messages which are very important for me). I need to find a way to restore from that back up that I have.
Regards
Dunno much about kies, used it short, so I cant help here...
But when you deal with your problem and you feel that you need be much careful in the future:
I am using 3 thing when backing up. (and I do it often, I exchanged many ROMS)
1. Titanium backup is a must.
2. SMS Backup - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore
3. Next Launcher Backup in its preferences...
Good luck finding your sms...
I've tried helium and didn't like it. I've been told not to use titanium when flashing certain custom roms and I've even gone into the play store and meticulously deleted all the old apps that I've downloaded on my profile only to have google not restore them on my LG G2. (they were restored on my nexus 7)
It's just kind of a headache. So I find that after I flash the stock gapps, I only d/l a few apps that I NEED. Is there any hope of a permanent solution?
Good evening everybody,
I have been starting to flash different ROMS, and what is the best way to restore data and apps? (titanium backup? Or something else?
It takes a while to re-download Everything from the Google play store.
I am on skydragon Rom with VZW.
I have titanium backup and also jrummy ultimate backup pro.
Thanks again for the info

Personally I think you can't go wrong with titanium. It's a lot easier with the pro version. But as far as restoring apps you can't beat it.
Sent from my VS985 4G
Cloud services, augmenting locally stored zips and APKs for me. Choosing apps like Nova and ChompSMS that allow a local settings backup are key to the ROM-hopper.
Between a custom Gapps package, TBO, and pulls from APKmirror and some zips, I get most of what I need. As far as the data portion, that's where cloud services really come in.; often all that is needed is a log-in and it's there.
I should say that I am a productivity user, not a gamer.
I Used Titanium backup pro and flashed a new ROM. So far so good. thanks again for all the info
