What do you guys think of Simmtronics XPad? Its for just $81, looks decent, anyone bought one and tried it?

AW: Simmtronics XPad
Got one on the CeBIT. Has a nice format and fits good in my hand.
As expected for a 50€ tablet the battery drains quite quick after four to five hours and the display is really oldskool - reminds me of my first Android, HTC Tattoo, but it's even a little worse. It has a single core CPU and is therefore not really high performant, but sufficient for surfing and watchin Video Clips.
So, it's no serious tablet comparable to modern devices, but a cheap option for the basic tablet experience.
Sent from my SIMM-X720 using xda-developers app
do you guys think this tablet will have the GRID support? considering the nvidia built cpu and gpu?
Old post to answer but from what I've read, probably not.
Google has limited OpenGL on the N9 unlike the Shield.
One other thing to remember is the N9 does not have a heat sink to aide heat migration away from CPU/GPU so heat build up is a issue after a good length of time on the N9.
I can play half life on Shield until end of game without heat building up on back side so bad I'd comment on it, where as on N9 I doubt you can do the same.
Clearly Google didn't have gaming in mind with the N9, but more so regular media consumption like web an movies IMHO.
Trade offs, a guy almost needs both tablets
Ftr, I tossed an turned which tablet to buy a good many days but settled on local instant satisfaction as Shield LTE was in stock an a fair bit cheaper but with maybe more options.
I still want a LTE N9, but for regular usage, not gaming.
YMMV.

Hello,
My question is pretty much what the title asks. I just got rid of my tablet, prematurely (don't ask lol), and it is a great tablet. I want another one, but I am wondering if I should wait until the Z4 drops. I mean, I really only watch movies and Netflix, with the occasional PS4 Remote Play and PC gaming with Limelight. I can get a brand new 32GB white model Z2 Tablet for $400. Do you think that the Z4 is going to be much more powerful and feature rich than the Z2?
What do you all think?
Thanks!
My guess is that it will have the same performance as Z2. From what I have seen and read about 810 it is not much of a performer, so an increased resolution should put it on par with 801 in Z2.
I've owned Z3 Tablet Compact, which is a bit faster than Z2, for a while and it was OK but I expected it to be so much more. Though it was quite faster in games and had a snappier UI than iPad Air.
But it still may be worth waiting for the release of Z4, since the price of Z2 should drop considerably.

Utter nonsense.
Snapdragon 810 is significantly more powerful than 801 both in terms of CPU and graphics performance, and it's the GPU that will deal with the extra resolution anyway, leaving the processor free to bring its performance benefits elsewhere. Plus there's a whole lot more to this than performance anyway -- the Z4 Tablet is way ahead of the Z2 Tablet in terms of battery life, screen brightness, size (it's almost 12% smaller), weight (11% lighter), built-in storage (32GB vs 16GB), has no cover over the USB port, has a better front camera, has better audio, etc. etc.
Basically the only ways that the Z2 Tablet is better than its successor are the inclusion of the magnetic charging port, and a lower pricetag. European-market pricing for the Z4 Tablet without the keyboard dock is around US$600, so you'll save about 30% on the older, lesser model.

Ok 810 is good performer. What i was saying is that Z4 UI will perform the same as Z2.
There is 77% more pixels on Z4. How much more powerful is 810? Even if it was 100% more powerful how would that translate in usage. That is roughly 10% better performance. On the videos i've seen z4 drops frames and stutters occasionally, same as Z2 and Z3 TC both of which I've used.
Battery has the same capacity. Sony has absolutely top power saving features but will it manage to draw that much more out of it? I expect battery life to be the same.
Using percentages to describe size reduction is soo apple. Point is, the new tablet will be
12 mm shorter, 5mm narrower and 0.3mm thinner.
All those things are great but for the use he mentioned it is not worth the price difference.

Congratulations on ignoring the bulk of my post.
Trying to use pixel count to estimate the relative performance difference between the two tablets seems silly to me, especially when you're only focusing on CPU.
Like knoxploration said, the GPU is what matters. The Adreno 430 in the Z4 can easily best the Adreno 330 in the Z2.
Still, I think we're splitting hairs. Both tablets seem great. It just comes down to personal preference. Go with the Z4 if you want the latest and greatest, or stick with the still very capable Z2 if you want to save some money.
Personally, I think the Z4 will finally convince me to get a tablet.
Edit: If you want a formal comparison between the Z2 and Z4, here's an article from PC Advisor:
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/...2-tablet-vs-sony-xperia-z4-tablet-comparison/
Edit 2: And if you want benchmarks between the Adreno 330 and Adreno 430, here's another link:
http://blog.gsmarena.com/adreno-430-benchmarked-trounces-adreno-330/
Sounds like price is your most sensitive issue. Otherwise it wouldn't be a concern... I have a z2 and z3 compact, never had any performance issues, and I fully intend to get the z4 asap.

Actually I wasn't focusing on CPU I thought that Adreno GPU was a part of Snapdragon processor. I think it is but if I've made a mistake, I apologize. I have looked at HTC M8 vs M9 for comparison since they both have the same resolution displays and have sd 801 vs 810 (or Adreno 330 vs 430). I looked at GFXBench results to draw my conclusion so it was actually the gpu performance that I have been referring.
You're right, solmiler! Excuse me while I remove my foot from my mouth.
I owned Z2. It's super smooth especially for an android tablet, which you usually wouldn't install to much software on it.
Considering the poor performance of 810 when temperature goes high and the higher resolution it has, I would recommend you to go for a Z2 if you get a very good deal on it.
I bet Z2 and Z4 will have almost the same performance.. and Z2 would be way cheaper and easy to get.

If you are heavy user so w8 for Z4 Table
cause with 64Bit you ll get better performance (more ability for heavy usage)

Interesting article about the Snapdragon 810 heat problems:

it mainly depends what size you prefer. obviously the Z4 is a little bit more cutting edge with a higher res display, faster processor, better camera, but both are lovely tablets that can still run anything at their respective resolutions.
i always thought i'd go for 7-8" tablets when i bought one because they are a good portable middle ground, but phones are already quite big these days so i went for a Z4 so it actually makes a noticeable difference in experience compared to the phone, and the Z4 is one of the lightest 10" tablets ever made and as a result feels really easy and comfortable to hold even in one hand compared to other 10" tablets that might have given you feeling that they are too big.
Ive played with a samsung tab s 10.5 (its pretty light too) and i just prefer a smaller footprint. My old nexus 7 was the perfect size but im willing to go up to 8inches if the z3 is the best smaller android tablet
I've got both and surprisingly the performance of both isn't too different to each other, even though one has a QualComm 801 32-bit v 810 64-bit. I think there are still optimisations yet to come for the Z4.
Its down to screen size for now and if you really want that expensive keyboard. For me, yes, 10.1 inch screen for fun + work / productivity is great. Z3 is still an excellent tablet.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned about this phone being overpriced, I already have the LG G5 and the X Performance, was thinking about getting this, but now I have to reconsidered, Hong Kong is selling this for HKD4198, which translate about USD540, I was expecting it to be about USD 350 to 400.

Real street price in the whole Hong Kong down to 3798 now but I think still a bit high but more accepatble now.

I will probably let the price drop before I go for it.
I returned my Z5 Compact for a full refund (charger wouldn't go in any more) and the X Compact was exactly the same price (£360). Otherwise I would not have gotten the X Compact. Hopefully they figure out a locked bootloader root for Android N though!
Personally I'd go for it.. Mine was worth every penny. The camera seems a huge improvement over the z5 and it runs so smooth, could easily be fooled in thinking it has 820 snapdragon.
I consistently get 5-6+ hours SOT too, with heavy usage.
Here in Sweden the XC has basically the same price as the Z5C - which one would you go for? I'm tempted to take the Z5C because we have root and some mods and 4K videos - but the XC seems to have the better camera overall..
Hey Guys! I'm planning to get the X Compact to replace my Z3 Compact as my second phone, is the battery life good? Or possibly even better than the Z3's?
Thanks in advance

I don't own the phone but I've been reading plenty of reviews and stats. the battery on the XC is quite worse than the Z3C and even than the Z5C, but it will still get you comfortably through the day. That said, battery on the Z3c was stellar, I owned one myself.

Ohh, thanks! I guess for now I'll save my cash for a better phone. Probably a non sony one, Idk what happened with their devices, their flagships have less battery and they justify it with "Qnovo" technology.
I hope Sony returns to the way they were before

My Primary phone is currently the S7 Exynos, it used to be the Z3 Compact and I had the Z1 Compact as my secondary ( before I sold it ). Not advertising here or anything but I suggest for now you try different brands, since Sony atm is overpriced, you could get a significantly better device for like half the price of their current flagships.
A good alternative to the X Compact if you are looking for a compact phone would be the Z5 Compact. It has better community support and generally is a faster phone compared to the X Compact, otherwise I'd recommend the S7 Exynos or the G5, both are great phones for their price, especially the G5 which is kind of cheap right now compared to other flagships. The removable battery is also a plus.

Z5c got TA backup so no void warranty with root and started to have some mods or customer kenerl/rom to flash now. But that phone real gets hot without thermal mod and stock camera bad without mod camera, with rooting the phone is good to use, without root no doubt XC is better.
Camera is the most important thing to me. I'm also thinking to up to XC for the laser focus and IR sensor but after used the Z5c mod cam, my plan is pushed back bcoz the z5c cam is better now. I'll wait for XC price go down next year.

The XC is faster on benchmarks sure, but its because of the newer architecture and benchmarks don't matter when using phones. Especially when they're both essentially running premium hardware. You're not building a gaming computer here, what matters here is real world usage and both phones perform really fast and the difference is barely noticeable if not almost non-existent. That being said the X Compact's "faster" performance on benchmarks doesn't justify its 499$ Price Tag ( Amazon ) while you could get the Z5 Compact for a hundred dollars less Z5 Compact 399$ ( Amazon ). That being said both devices would perform equally in a sense when in real world usage, so It would really be impractical to throw a hundred more bucks.
This is just my opinion though, I'm not saying the X Compact is a bad device, in fact it looks beautiful and performs beautifully but sadly with that price I believe Sony ( or other manufacturers ) have better offerings for a lower price tag.

I thought the Z5C has better benchmarks? I don't really pay attention to benchmarks, all I really care about is real world usage. It's easy to spot that the X Compact is faster than the Z5 Compact in real world usage.
In the UK, on amazon, the X Compact is cheaper than the Z5C. I returned my Z5C because the charger wouldn't go in, if the Z5C was the same price I would've gotten that but I'm glad I didn't.
I think the Z5C is much more beautiful than the X Compact. X compact is easier to hold though.
I agree about the price tag (mine cost £360, exactly what I paid for the Z5C last year). There is definitely better phones for the money, but I have small hands
http://www.androidauthority.com/snapdragon-652-vs-802-whats-difference-686684/
Z5c SD810 got a much faster GPU over XC SD650 before it suffered from heating issue. XC is faster bcoz it got 3GB ram in multi-tasking or play resources hogging games. I've played XZ and XC in phone store, I don't think normal use XC faster actually I felt Z5c is acting faster with it's unbeatable gpu. And yes, I think XC is quite ugly.....

I do own the phone, and the battery gives me several days which includes playing videos via 4g, number of phone calls constant data push notifications for emails etc.
I've not even started to tweak it yet as I don't feel the need. I've read a number of these reviews too, and things like 'the battery capacity is lower than [insert whatever]. A direct compare clearly isn't taking into account the fact that the XC sips its power carefully, rather than drinking pints at a time.

Agree. I charged my phone on Friday, was out for the whole weekend and only needed to charge it on Monday (this is with Google now turned off and email on manual checking).
With google now and email push I get 2.5 days of charge. Battery life is insane on this phone.
I don't know why people who don't own the phone feel like they're in a position to offer opinions or advice to other people.
