Lineage OS 14.1 on Galaxy S2, working but can't get root ("unable to mount /data")
Hello,
first, I nearly read all tutorials and tried the whole day to get this working but I failed for the last step.
I want to install LineageOS 14.1 on my Galaxy S2 (GT-i9100) and get root.
What I have done so far:
1. Repartition because the partitions from stock samsung android 4.1.2. are to small. (attachment)
2. Flashed via Odin3 3.07
stock_kernel_twrp_1120-signed-for_Odin.tar
lineage-14.1-20170315-nightly-i9100-signed.zip
open_gapps-arm-7.1-micro-20170318.zip
Lineage OS ist starting and everything works great so far.
3. Stucking here:
UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.79-20161211114519.zip
addonsu-arm-signed.zip
I can't install SuperSU or addonsu because of the following error:
"unable to mount /data". This message appears in TWRP whenever I tried to format or mount "data".
Would be great if someone can give my little help.
Greetings ENFI
EDIT: After installing LineageOS my TWRP Recovery is replaced by an other Recovery. Flashing "stock_kernel_twrp_1120-signed-for_Odin.tar" again results in a bootloop.
Have you tried enabling root from developer options? If yes then where did you get the addon zip? The one from LOS thread works for me. If that doesn't help, you can switch to other N roms that have root enabled by default. RR is my personal favorite.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Labs
I enabled root in the developer options. But the available option was only "adb" and not "adb + apss".
Today I did all the steps again and now it is working. I have no clue what I did wrong yesterday.
There is only one thing I don't think it's right is the information about (free) memory space. I attached 2 screenshots.
The device has only 16GB, no external SD-Card is inserted. LineageOS now tells me there is ~15Gb "internal shared memory" and "7GB mobile memory". That can not be true. What's wrong? Partition problem?
I recently rooted my device. ( my first time, go figure) After many errors and even a bricked device, I finally managed to root the device and unbrick it. I believe the opperating system was deleted in the process along the way and I had to flash a stock ROM onto the device, resulting in a downgrade from 6.0 to 5.1.1. I still had TWRP on the device and was able to put the needed superuser zip files on the SD card when in TWRP mode because that's the only time the pc recognized the phone. After install in the Superuser files in Twrp the device rebooted up and I ran a root checker and it says that superuser was installed correctly and I have root access. Now here's the issue, I went to go and turn on unknown sources and when I click on fingerprints and securiry, I'm met with an error message saying com.android.settings has stopped . this happens In a few other areas of the settings but not all. I also had downloaded another app (NT Hidden Settings) that I was hoping would allow for me to turn on unknown sources and when I click on the option to turn on unknown sources, I get anmessage saying system/bin/su missing. I now am lost and have no idea what to do. I tried copying a file named su from the xbin folder thinking that may fix the issue but it didnt. Any tips or ideas? If I have to unroot the device and reroot I have no problem doing so (although I'd probably need a concise tutorial because I had very poor luck getting as far as I did..)
Hi everyone,
I have a LG G3 (AT&T) version d850, running lineageOS 14.1, rooted (verified with root checker) and bootloader unlocked.
Thing is, after flashing lineage and gapps through TWRP, my internal storage has stopped working.
I've read from a lot of threads from xda and other forums but i still can't find any possible solution
With this i mean: i can't see files from the internal storage (/sdcard/ which points to ->storage/self/primary) from the explorer that comes within lineage, nor root browser nor ES file explorer, i can't push files with adb unless im in recovery mode, can't open camera because it says "internal storage is running out of space. Tried to change ownership/permissions but it was useless, even with the Fix permissions script that i found here at xda.
Im not by any means an android expert as im just starting to explore this kind of things, i'll be thankful if someone can help
Greetings
Hello!
I have recently purchased a Xiaomi Mi 6 and flashed LineageOS Sagit 15.1 along with addonsu-14.1-arm64-signed.zip on it.
My sources where
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-...i-mi6-t3754382
https://download.lineageos.org/extras
After installation, I was following these steps to enable root access:
https://www.theandroidsoul.com/root-...-on-lineage-os
But I dont see the option "Root Access" in the developers section. I can only see "Manage Root Access", which is greyed out (I guess because no app has root permissions yet).
Does anyone have an idea why that might be?
Thank you!
BR,
Philipp
P.S.: fyi, I tried to install Magisk as well, but after installation it wouldn't let me boot into system. I always ended up in the default Recovery Mode. Then I switched to addonsu.
So maybe someone knows whats wrong here
