hardware issues - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

Hi
I already send back two broken le max 2 phones back to china. First x820 with charging problem - phone won't charge and there was not enough juice in the battery to do anything via QFIL. Second one - x822 had a screen issue - touch sensivity get crazy, then I have got horizontal dark stripes on screen and on the finish I crack the scrren with the finger near "recent apps" button.
Now I wonder that I should try luck with third le max 2 phone. It is still beautifull inside with nice 2k screen phone. And the price getting lower so I can get 6GB version now.
Let me know if many of the le max 2 phones have hardware issues - I want to know from user because retailers always say it is single case... Thanks

Most of the le max2 have fingerprint sensor issue.

If you buy it, and it doesnt work you ask for a €50 refund and keep the phone.

Think "most of" is probably an exaggeration. An unacceptably high number, sure. But it's probably still a small fraction of the total. Of course many people with this problem have been vocal about it in forums so it can seem like most of them have it, but people with no problem obviously don't make threads about it.

Most phones are shipped with sellers' modified ROM, I still believe that was the issue. when buying the phone, insist stock ROM and in the factory sealed box.

Not so sure about that. Many of the complaints about faulty fingerprint scanners seem to have been from Indian users, who bought sealed stock domestic devices rather than reseller imports.

I bought the phone from indian online shopping portal Flipkart . Factory sealed stock ROM but fingerprint failed in the next day itself. Replaced the phone within one week. Still now no issue in the FP sensor.

I can confirm this, it happened to me too. After changing to stock ROM it worked very well. And after 6 months I can say that there is no problem with it.

Charging issue is mostly happening due to faulty charging cables. Of course the user starts to panic at first and the lack of other USB Type-C cables around the house made them to search for answers on the forums. Of course it also matters the way you are handling the cable as well. The Le 1s that I gave to my mom is 1 year old, still using the original cable, mine is showing no problems as well. I could mention that the cable of my wife's S6 edge+ has issues if that counts. To me this seems nothing important as a cable costs few dollars.
What I have is a broken LED. I don't see any other color except Red and a pale tint of yellow that is nowhere to be seen during the day. This yellow is replacing the normal green. And I don't see the blue color when going to recovery as well. It was working though when I bought the unit. I believe it's related to the noise that my phone makes when I kick it with the finger, and as far as I know, I'm alone with this problem. Thus I would not count it as an issue if 1 user reports a problem out of few million units sold

I have some small charging issues. For some reason after using then disconnecting the supplied LeEco QC 3.0 charger, it becomes useless (unable to charge anything) for about a day. It's very strange. Also, I bought an Aukey QC 3.0 powerbank, but it won't charge my LeMax2 unless I turn off the phone's fast charging.

You can do it manually in the buildprop, or there is an app floating around in the Official MoKee thread to switch it on and off easily.

Is the Z2 really THIS bad?

It's hard for me to imagine a Sony product that isn't made of the highest quality.
When browsing around the Sony forums and other places on the net, I keep seeing the same complaints. The magnetic charging ports are falling out which is allowing water to leak into the phone, ruining the phone. The phone also shuts down after downloading a lot of data over LTE or recording with the camera, due to overheating. I also see reports of people being unable to hold conversations because one party can not hear the other.
Are these people over exaggerating or are these real complaints? I was just ready to pull the trigger on one when I started seeing all of this stuff. Can anyone chime in that has had their phone over 1 month and has ZERO issues with it? Maybe there are just a select few that got a bad batch or something.
If you post can you also please post when you bought the phone or when you think it was manufactured. Maybe we can narrow this down to a time frame or specific region.
Just try to buy week 22 or higer (you have a little sticker that you pull out in sdcard compartment.
Yes, there are some things that we wouldn't expect from Sony but that was older batches.
I can record 5 min 4K video so can't see problem here.
All other manufacturers limited 4K to 5min, that's why they didn't have same problems.
Sony decided not to limit duration, so sometimes there will be overheating msg and closing camera.
I don't have any problem you said, I know for those guys and I'm sure that's all true but that's not general flaw and issue, that's perfectly normal...
If you aren't satisfied with Z2 you can always return in or change for another device...

I came from M8 and S5, after having the z2 for 2 months, there are couple things I really don't like about the z2, it is noticeably slower, say you click on the camera icon, it doesn't come on instantaneously, the in call voice quality and speaker phone are only ok, not great, volume is a bit on the low side.
The in call quality and dim volume is a deal breaker for me, I am looking to switch to the G3 or Note 4.

Well a huge problem is that I live in the USA and Sony will not cover any manufacture defect because there is zero warranty coverage in the US. I went through this with a Motorola phone I bought from Canada once.
So how long have you had your phone? Do you use the magnetic charging connector at all?

Yea I know that's why I wanted to ask around and see how many people weren't having problems. To me its got the best specs by far of any phone. I think the sound issues and maybe a bit of lag can be fixed with custom roms and what not. I just don't want to end up with the charging port popping out and then I don't realize it and go for a swim. The phone is going to cost me a lot of money and I won't have a warranty.

My advice - don't pay 600-800$ for device without warranty.
You never know..
I have device for a two months, I had Z1 (still have it) and I don't have any problems with both.
I totally agree with that post - nobody will open thread - my device is working perfectly -
All you can see here is problems and guys seeking for help but that doesn't mean it's faulty device.
As I said, I'm perfectly satisfied with Xperia Line and will buy Z3 as well...
That will be perfect device

Well that sounds absolutely great! I just ordered a white one from Amazon.com after reading all the great reviews on it. People are saying its the best phone they have ever used. I also picked up a charging dock. May need to get a second one but we will see. Does the phone come with a magnetic charging cable or a regular micro-USB cable?
I don't own a Z2, but what I can say is that that magnetic conector thing is half Sony's fault, half use of cheap third party cables's fault.
AFAIK, the connector wasn't meant to be used with cables, but only on stationary charging docks. The constant movement of the cable and device while using the device while charge might be the culprit to "invoke" both parties's fault I mentioned above.

I haven't heard anything about any Z2s shutting down from overheating, the camera closing on over temp is common though. How much time it takes before it hits the set point depends on a lot of variables, but basically the higher the ambient temp and/or the more heat generation inside phone(using data, high CPU loads, continuous live view, etc) prior/during camera use will impact it. I live in a warm region and when testing I got 6min of 4k before hitting alarm.
My phone is put on a magnetic dock every night and everytime I get in my and my port is doing fine.
My phone is from week 17 and has a the of center issues but everything works fine.
I didn't add a squaretrade warranty (not sure if could since didn't add it within 30 days of purchase), if I have a warranty issue prior to the US having parts I'll just send it to it's retail country.

I have w17 version and i haven't encountered any defects of any kind. This phone is awesome !
I have a week 20 phone without any issues and I consider it a fantastic device! come from note 1.
I've had my Z2 for a month now and couldn't be happier. No problems with over heating (Haven't done the 4K recording thing though), plug in my magnetic charge cable overnight (well, mostly every other night - what an awesome battery!).
I immediately installed Nova and have settled on Smart Launcher pro.
Also, was too impatient for OTA .402 update, so I did that myself.
When Sony support stops, I'll probably go CM but, for the moment, it's all good.

Thing is how to verify this when the box is sealed.
week 22 is may 26 to jun 1
is this date printed on the bar code on the box itself ?

I came to Z2 from Galaxy Note 3, before that I had HTC One.
Z2 is the best for me among the 3 devices, it is not ideal but ticks all my boxes.
I have a 14W17 and while it gets warm when recording 4K, I did not manage to overheat it. I made a test yesterday just to check out, Ireland, Dublin, around 20 degrees yesterday in the shadow. I was walking in the sun and recording for 5 minutes, 4k video with steady shot, so even more demanding for internals. The phone was warmish, but not as hot as I thought.
Afterwards I checked and the CPU temp was 61 degrees while battery temp was 37 degrees, so yes, it gets warm but not so hot.
What was making this phone really hot was the AR mode or the special effects app, that lets you put things like falling satelite, ghosts and other stuff postprocessing. Those two made the phone hot, but nothing else is able to make mine this hot and I do not care about those two modes anyway.
I would really recommend this phone but I would never buy it without any kind of warranty. I would never buy piece of electronics that is that expensive, without any kind of warranty.
Anyway, look at M8 forum, Samsung forums. Those people that are happy, usually don't praise the phone on forums, but those that have problems - do... I was really worried and almost certain, I would not buy Sony but I said oh well, let's try something new (never had Sony phone before, only sony-ericsson). I do not regret it for now, even just for battery life it was worth it for me, I don't care about waterproofness whatsoever.
Noise cancelling headphones is a great plus as well!
Z2 should be available later this year is USA I think, if not, maybe Z3?

Exactly this, most people come to the forum are looking for help solving a problem or require specific needs but the truth is that these people are a vast minority of all the users of the phone rather than people making threads praising and complementing the device except for example if you look in the battery thread or the camera thread.
I've got a week 15 model and I love my phone, it's the best phone I've ever had, the previous phones I had that I considered the best were the Xperia X1 and the Motorola V3X.
Anyway, don't be dissuaded from the phone because of complaints you see in forums but that warranty issue, that's a bit dodgy, I wouldn't buy something if it didn't come with a guarantee or warranty.

You should be able to inspect the device before purchasing it and if you're purchasing from an online retailer you should have 7-14 days exchange/refund as per distance selling laws (if applicable in your country) if you're not happy with it after inspection, you wouldn't buy a car without taking a look inside/giving it a test drive would you?

Way they do it in my country is they show you a demo model that is tethered with a security cable. You can play with that one as long as you want.
Then if you decide to buy they offer you a sealed box, some may open it if there is a possibility of a sale otherwise not. Prefer to buy from a shop than online.
I understand that there is date printed on the barcode of the box itself, so wondered if there was a correlation between whats printed on the microsd tray and the box itself.
This way its much easier to distinguish newer batches from old without opening the box.
Can anyone confirm ?

Battery Replacement - is it possible? Where to buy?

Hi guys,
my Nexus 9 started to randomly shutdown around 40-50% with some strange noises and screen artefacts. I know some people faced that as well. I've tried to go trough that google support bull*hit and finally when we agreed it's battery issue, they stopped answering - seriously.
So I've removed the back cover - it's pretty easy. The battery is 2 pieces, one is ok, the second is probably dead - very bloated. So I need a new battery and it will probably be ok. BUT the battery is impossible to buy
I've contacted our local HTC partner repair centre, but they told me, they no longer do repairs, they just send it to HTC, so they cannot say how much will the battery replacement cost :silly:
So finally the question - is there any way how to get a new battery for the Nexus 9? Swap is super easy and paying half a price of the tablet for battery replacement, which I can do in 3 minutes is just lame.
Anyone saw Nexus 9 battery as spare part? Anywhere? I've found a guy in Poland, but he's not replying to my emails.
Thanks!

Don't waste your time putting a new battery in it. It's a hardware issue. My first N9 thr exact same issue after 4 months of use and ultimately had to be replaced. There's another forum here on XDA pertaining to the exact same issue. Under 50% screen locks up with a scrambled image and loud noise from the speakers. It's a bad motherboard and the only fix is a new motherboard or new Nexus 9. Trust me on this. You can replace the battery, but it won't help this issue. Sorry

Furthermore, both Google and HTC know of this issue. I swear they instruct their tech people to play dumb.
Sadly that make sense. After I've send a few photos, when I was quick enough to take a photo of the display before shutdown, google support went silent!
These are not a good news, but I thank you for reply and sharing some light on it. I will consider buying a new tablet then.

Makes sense. My N9 has had minimal use (displaced by Pixel-C). Brought it out of hibernation a while back, and it kees crashing (even when on charge!)
I've had this problem with crashing and loud noises several times. Previously I had a charging issue, under warranty the mainboard was replaced. A long while after that the problems with scrambled screen and loud noises started. I then disconnected the battery, and reconnected it, and the problem went away for a long time. But it has returned and even returning more often.
So I ordered a replacement battery via ebay (straight from China), and yesterday I finally found some time to replace it. First thing I noticed the tablet is more responsive, snappier.. It hasn't discharged enough to reproduce the problem, but I had trouble lately with updating apps when it wasn't on the powersupply, which convinced me it was a faulty battery. Now it's updating without charger no problem at all.
2,5 weeks after replacing the battery, and the problem did not come back. I'm happy with it.. pretty easy fix..
So the same problem has been happening to me also, got the N9 up to 7.1.1 and this started to happen a lot more. Seems to be when the battery is low (under 50% or 40%, somewhere around there) and usually when I'm looking at the Chive app, mostly again with animated GIF's they have. I'm not sure it's happened with games since I mostly game on my N6 since it has more RAM so it plays a bit better where the 2GB on the N9 is too laggy.
Any way, so this happens now too. So some say bad motherboard, others say bad battery. Has anyone gone through the trouble of the motherboard replacement? Or have actually had HTC replace the motherboard on warranty? If yes, has it made the problem go away? Has anyone else bought a battery off eBay (I can't find them new OEM anywhere and I hate the idea of a Chinese knockoff so close to my hands and face - ya know, fire) and had the problem go away?
I've replace all manners of parts from various phones so I know I can do it to the N9, which is just a large ass phone. I have to give up my N9 for some Samsung tablet (sorry 7" tablets are too small). I love having a 8"-10", pure vanilla Android tablet. I wish Google would make another one that was like the N9.

Some people have just unplugged and replugged the battery and had great success.
I changened by battery last week. The problem is gone and I have 6h oof screentime back. Change is easy, would recommend everyone to do so.

I couldn't figure out how to unplug the cables.
You need to pull it vertically from the board. I used a guitar pick to make it a bit looser, then I pulled it of.

Is it still working?
I am pretty sure is the battery connector. I unplugged and replugged the connector and the problem was gone for a few days. I could finally solve it applying a contact cleansing spray to the connector and then using a special kind of glue which is typically used to prevent screws for unfasten. It has worked perfectly since then, no need to replace the battery.

Just wanted to be sure this was the root cause.
Already exchanged my battery in the meantime.
Thanks anyway!
I installed a replacement battery six months ago due to shortening run times on the original battery. I purchased it from newpower99.com for $60. They have an instructional video on their site that shows how to replace the Nexus 9's battery. It worked well for me, giving me a run time that was comparable to the run time when the Nexus 9 was new.

Anyone experiencing touch screen issues while charging?

Touch screen does not work properly while charging, no matter what charger or usb port from laptop I use.
It seems to be "over" reponsive, not really possible to scroll and use it because screen takes every touch like a touch "to open" an app or something.
Really annoying.
I am on MIUI V7.1.3.0LHPCNCK, but problem was there on other rom as well.
For me too
Inviato dal mio Redmi 3 utilizzando Tapatalk
Me too, can anyone fix this?
I don't have this issue. Checked on PC, Xiaomi powerstrip and original charger - screen seems to work as intended.
Some people on the webs said that replacing power souce helped.
As you can read in first post I used different power sources, and low power charging USB....
Same issue in my case, the phone is kind of unusable while charging! Hope it will be fixed in the next MIUI updates

Touch screen issued while charging fixed after updated 7.2.4. Received 2 days ago.

Im having this issue also, but doesnt bother much now coz i only charge when i was a sleep. The battery gives me juice all day long. Good to know it has been fix in 7.2.4 at the moment im still stick with tampered rom that came with the divice but im waiting the Global Rom #will this be real
use other wall charger
iam notice when i use asus zenfone 6 charger this issue can be fixed. so i think use lower amp will fix this. but charge time will slower than original charger
Had this issue on 7.1.1. Now, on latest developer build, all works fine, and on stable 7.2.+ I heard this bug is fixed too.
Yeah when on 7.1.x, for me it's the opposite, while charging screen becomes less sensitive and I have to push harder for it to register. It's mostly fixed in 7.2.4, runnng ok in 7.2.6 now.

The first rule is you don't talk about when pointing a problem is always use default setting, so you should. There are two version of digitizer for this phone, most likely yours is the same as mine, the other one I think is sold only to European market. And always use original wall charger.

Issues with G5

Hi all this is my first post,
I have owned an LG G5 September and it has been flawless. A couple of days ago while plugging my G5 out of the charger, the tap to change usb connection persisted and from doing research on the forums it seems like this can occur at random without much being able to be done to fix it. Since then I have experienced extremely high battery usage from android system and I have noticed that when going into the lock screen of the phone, I am given the prompt to scan my finger with a red exclamation mark, as if i have already tried and failed to scan my finger. However the fingerprint scanner does work regardless, what i have noticed is that when scanning a new finger in settings, the phone vibrates very rapidly somehow fully registering a fingerprint in less than a second rather than vibrating and telling you to change positions of the finger. Also the fast charging capability has stoped working as a result of my phone thinking its plugged into the computer.
To sum it up, is it really possible that a single unplugging of the cable can cause the above problems? Also do any of you think that replacing the bottom port and hence the usb port (the root of the issue?) will fully resolve all problems?
I have already:
Reset the phone to factory settings
Restored from backups
Put it in rice to remove any moisture
Please ask me if any other information is required to come to a possible solution.
Cheers
Sounds like either got wet somehow or battery defect. My battery got wet and was having same issues. Did you get it wet? Don't use it untill problem fixed. Water + electronic= rip

hi man same problem here. usb notice randomly appears even if it isn't plugged and also fast charging doesn't work. I've used compressed air to clean usb port and seems that the notice doesn't appear anymore, but the fast charging still not work

Either got damaged or water damage. Probably get a new battery will fix that. I'd be a little is hesitant using the phone if it is water damage, if I was you. Might wanna take battery out untill you get new one.

Well i ordered a new battery, should be here on Monday. I'll report the results.
Well I got the new battery, unfortunately this hasnt resolved any issues. Next step is to try a new bottom piece, that should do the trick if not rip G5 and money.

Why not ship it to LG?

It has sth with usb socket in your phone. Look if there is some dust or anything. Clean it carefully with needle or sth while phone is power off. Battery drain is because phone thinks it is USB cable connected, when USB is connected phone can't enter into deepsleep state. If anything help try to replace this part which holds battery and have USB socket. I think it is still cheaper than sending phone to service.
Sound Problems
I have random sound problems since i have updated my LG G5 (H850) to Nougat.
Specifically some times the notification sounds not working. (fb messenger - sms - ringtone) Its like i have muted the sounds but all the sounds are enabled.
Also i have noticed that when this problem occuring when i try to watch videos from youtube or video streaming sites, its shows me an error message and i cant watch the videos.
When i restart the phone it fixes. It think its a software problem because i have not those problems at the past running marshmallon.
At the moment i am running official h850 20c update. I have tried factory reset but the problem insists on.
Have you ever noticed something like that or heard anything about those problems? (i have also a friend that he has the same problems with his LG G5 since he updated to Nougat)

Basically the story goes as this: I bought it from one of the biggest electronics retailers here in the Netherlands (Mediamarkt) and I asked them if they can carry out reparations and they said it needs to go to LG. So I attempt to sign up my G5 for the reparation programme LG has, only to be told at the end of the form that the G5 is not being serviced here anymore. I call LG's customer service and I was given the reason "due to extremely low sales the product is not supported anymore in the region", LG also told me that Mediamarkt has to carry out reparations because there is a mutual agreement between the two even though Mediamarkt claims they are unable to carry out repairs and no such agreement exists. So as a consumer I am stuck between these two big companies and the standard 2 year guarantee is basically useless, which is why I am hoping a new bottom port will bring everything back to what it was.

Yep I agree completely that it most likely has to do with the bottom port, I also believe a new bottom port will fix most if not all issues. I dont have many options anyway I need to diagnose the phone myself otherwise I've lost my money and device.

Aka you've been screwed over. That situation right there would make me not wanna ever deal with either company ever again. You should try to talk to someone at LG higher up, like manager or something.
LG tried screwing my brother over with a promotion. Well after talking to manager he got things fixed.

Go back to media markt and be a pain in the arse.
If you ask customer service nicely they more often will feed you with standard replies. Tantrums tend to help, sadly.
Double check how things are legally. Quoting the law also helps and or asking for a supervisor.
Good luck

Redmi note 3 touch stopped working after flashing stock rom

I have a strange issue related to kenzo(rn3). My battery was swollen. So got rid of it. But when I went to buy a new battery the touch stopped working. So I tried to get it repaired in local shops bcz mi center were charging 4k. But local guys couldn't fix it. The issue was may be of motherboard. After some days I again restarted(with charger only, didn't bought battery) as usual, this time the touch worked with no problem even after restarts. So I bought the battery and was using the phone. But the battery backup was not good bcz of miui 9.5. So I searched for a good sot rom. I downgraded to miui 7.6.3. No imei issue happened but touch again is unresponsive. I tried installing miui 9.5 with no luck. I think the issue is on the software part. I clean flash installed roms every time by miflash. Help anyone. Please.
I think your problem is a unique case, I can't relate. However, I DO get those touchscreen problems. I get that very-very-rarely. A forced restart by holding the power fixes it.
I recently changed to MIUI 9.5.6.0, haven't gotten any of it yet. I previously came from Official Nougat LOS, and then changed to xiaomi.eu ROM before finally change to this genuine stock MIUI. I got that issue in both LOS and xiaomi.eu.
Restarting couldn't help me.

Maybe there is some hardware issue. But why after flashing the stock rom it doesn't responding.
Do you use original touch? Or focaltech?
If you change some hardware i recommend to reinstall rom and kernel (the rom with fastboot).
Equally the battery (i think) may not generate this issue.
Oh! I remember in other device my charger freeze my phone... But its very rare... What charger do you use commonly?

I once got the touch repaired at the service center. It was 2 years ago. I have installed rom in edl mode. When the touch again worked on its own, there was only charger connected to it. The issue may not be with the charger. May be I should try with more local repair shops.

i dont know... do you can ask to developer to only focaltech compilation... equally i dont know... I believed that Focaltech was compatible in recovery but not in system (i never have Focaltech and im not sure if your problem is it.)
Your problem is very rare... but make me remember similar problems in notebooks with touchpad and steel case...
in some notebooks if the case is steel and you touch the case, the touchpad not work but if you dont touch the case work perfect (yeah... this is rare but in my opinion is "ground" (talking about electricity) problem.)
i dont have more ideas, your problem is very strange and probably hardware.
Good luck bro

Thanks for the suggestions. May be its more hardware related. It was just a luck when the touch worked on its own. May be some shorting is there. One more point I want to add is that when the battery was swollen the display bent too. Some impact may be on the motherboard too. The local repair guys confirmed touch is good. May be the motherboard is dying.
U.U
Remember: you can use keyboard and mouse USB if you need to use "Titanium Backup" or other app.
What's happened is most likely this. The swollen battery bent the mainboard's PCB and either cracked some solder joints or lifted a pad/broke a trace. Now you have bad, intermittent connection. You could probably reflow the joints using a hot air station but you wouldn't be here asking for help if you had the required tools. If it's a lifted pad under a big chip, that's simply too much work (anyone that can do that would ask for at least the cost of a new phone).

From what I have seen on the pcb, there is a probable smd part near the power ic. You correctly inferred that I don't have tools to fully inspect/try blowing hot air. But I did tried blowing hot air using a hair dryer. I also do suspect that repair shops I went didn't tried that. Thanks for the suggestions.

Some more questions. What is a lifted pad?
Some more insights are, Once the touch was worked on its own, it worked pretty well. I then purchased the battery and installed. Used the phone for 2 days. And then I downgraded and touch went unresponsive. Could it be really a hw issue? Well I too think that it's a hw issue. But couldn't help myself question this. Maybe there is some irregular voltage being supplied. The touch might now be accustomed to the power provided by the old battery?
Some devices can work with charger without battery (notebooks, some tablets and phones, i dont know if all)
Try with this to test if work fine all... If yes i recommend you test your battery voltage/ampers.

When the touch worked on its own, it was only without battery because i dumped the old one and didn't bought new because the touch wasn't working. When the touch worked it was connected to the charger only. Battery is giving output of 3-4 Volts.

The voltage when checked fluctuated bw 3 to 4. The multi meter reading was not showing volts after decimal. I will check. Again with a more accurate multimeter in a while.
The battery model is bm46 though. And what does 3.85 depict on the battery?
what i dont know (again)...
4.4v charger voltage (after pass of diode and otherf circuit?)
3.85v to output? (phone use)
if yes your multimeter reading is good (3v and 4v).
i try to help you with ideas but is very rare this.

Well, modern electronics use lead free solder with a melting point that's somewhere around 250°c. Basically you need an extra 100 degrees to reflow and I doubt your hair dryer can go as high as that. It's only good enough to melt adhesive.

A lifted pad is when the copper contact is ripped off the board as a result of excessive flexing or overheat, usually under a big IC. This ends up damaging or cutting the trace leading to that pad. To fix that, you can only micro solder a very thin insulated wire under a microscope. You may need to desolder the component resting on that pad first to fix the pcb.
Certainly, a component might operate just a bit out of specs but since you don't have schematics, you'd have to do hours of guess work, assuming you already know how. I suppose you could randomly replace likely culprits and hope for the best but... Well, let's say it's far from ideal.
