Why not a rom-based OmniROM? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

He'd find a developer who could build a rom based OmniROM? Is there a reason why is not such a rom? I'm just a user. I do not understand how to build rom. Thank you for your explanation. I would also like if there was a developer who would rom.
Excuse my bad English.

So many ROM we had actually, so why don't u choose developed ROM instead of asking for a new ROM.

Maybe because it would not have the bug camera?

No the bug of camera and led flash dont come from the ROM itself instead of the missing proper libs due to xiaomi half baked source. I am pretty sure if xiaomi released the new kernel or source the bug of camera n flash will be gone.
Alternatively u may use MM based custom ROM like RR MM, AOKP MM or even LinageOS MM as they will be as solid as miui MM, in a simple words the aforementioned bugs isn't present on all of those released.
Be smart and keep thinking guys.

Rom based on Android 6 already stopped development of last year. I am using a Nexus rom. Security is outdated. No. I want to again use miui.

Fingerprint issue on new hardware.

I bought the Redmi note 3 pro sd version on 27th june. I guess it has the new fingerprint hardware. Requesting previous developer who has built the cm radio zip to work the fingerprint on cm based Roms to create another zip for new hardwares or else it's really uneasy to use the ROM for us. Like it's easy but we really miss the fingerprint. feels like it's not there. Hope we'll get It on the new hardware soon. thanks. :fingers-crossed:
Have also the battery problem?

Fingerprint sensor works fine on official leaked MM rom but doesn't work on cm based ROM & ported MIUI 7.3.9 MM rom from special edition.
Use Official MIUI8 then.
Do you mean 6.6.23 by official ?
The point is we want to try other not miui roms too, also that leaked mm rom is full of bugs.

Absolute SMALLEST Marshmallow ROM for Kenzo?

What's a Marshmallow ROM for Kenzo with the absolute smallest install footprint?
EDIT: I'm using an FPC Kenzo, if that helps. I also probably won't be using GApps.
I'm also searching an Marshmallow smooth stable rom with no bugs like goodix, torch, camera or headset microphone.

I'm using cardinalAOSP and it's very fast, smooth and stable. Also it's very light on ram.
It has only small bugs: systemUI reboots sometimes while watching YouTube + auto rotation gets stuck in YouTube (turning off the screen and back on again fixes this).

If u talk about small rom in a term of its size u probably get the least feature that ROM can give to you, as I know small ROM like; slimrom mm, lineageos mm, as well as nexus experience give what u want.

Absolute smallest of smallest is Slim or DU (dark unicorn) rom. Feel free to try.

I am still using Umang's Slim 6. And still didn't face any bugs....so I haven't moved to any other ROM. If I want to change to other MM based ROM, it would be lineage MM by gismo.
You can check the cm13 based builds here. They are built with Umang96's device tree and proprietary files. I have been using them for months with no issues whatsoever. No modifications are made to the source files. The manifests used to build the rom are modified to point to Umang's repos, that's all. Other than that the source files are untouched. Obviously you need goodix patch and custom kernel for all cm13 based roms if you have goodix fp. The reason is because goodix has not released the source code for their drivers.

Officially Supported Custom ROMS for RedMi Note 4

Hey all,
I'm looking for a good Custom ROM for my Redmi Note 4 and have come across a few good ones but still I'm not sure if they're Officially supported and are Stable.
I've come across the following:
> Resurrection Remix
> Lineage OS
> Paranoid Android
So my question would be that are any of these ROMS reliable and worth flashing over the original MiUi8. Are there any other ROMS worth checking out? I would like a stable and officially supported ROM with regular updates and a stock android feel. I've been using Cyanogen Mod on my previous phones and then once that ended it's support I switched over to Lineage OS. Now the Redmi Note 4 is not really a supported device for Lineage and people have uploaded a few Unofficial Lineage OS ROMS so if any of you have flashed any particular ROM on your Redmi Note 4 I'll be happy to hear about and the experience it offered you. Feel free to post any information you have regarding this topic :good:
~RabbitWingz
May I suggest AospExtended? It's official and well maintained with regular updates. It has a stock feel and gives you some extras with it's extensions.

Bro I would like to tell you that the lack of official ROMS for our Redmi Note 4 is because Xiaomi has not yet released the kernel sources.
And if you're thinking of switching over from MIUI then yup it's totally worth it and LOS, and AEX are one of the best ROMS you can get right now, these two will get you pretty much everything you want for your device. Hit thanks if helped.

But there's one thing I personally don't like about AEX , I'm a Google fan boy so I always flash opengapps stock but well AEX doesn't really let's me uninstall dead Google apps (Google now ?) and such so yeah that's one and pretty much the only thing about it but again it's a really cool experience using AEX.

So well just go for LOS that's what I'm using and a cherry on top is that it's having all the OMS commits so substratum is fully functional but remember it's not as frequently updates as AEX so if updates are your thing than again AEX is better.
If showing off the shear performance of this beast is your thing (and simplicity too) then go for LOS cause I found the highest performance in benchmark from LOS and yeah Darkness Redefined is also good cause I've used it and found it pretty polished.

Hey man,
Thanks for all the information! Would Xiaomi release the kernel sources later in the future or are there no sure plans of that happening? MiUi is pretty heavy and all the bloatware and crappy Ram Management is a disappointment. For those reasons I'm really eager to switch over to a custom ROM and if Lineage OS somehow supports it officially later in the future, It'll definitely be my first choice. Also if you could provide me with a little more Info on the AEX ROM and it's features then that'll be great. Or just simply link it :good:

Bro for AEX just visit the forums and yes the kernel sources will be released in the future but for now we just can wait. Once they're released our device will be like REDMI NOTE 3 our device's forums will be flowing with ROMS and kernel. And like I said once they're released all the ROMS will go official.

Thanks once again The only thing that bothers me from flashing LOS is that only an Unofficial Build is available here on XDA so I'm not really sure how trustworthy it is. But you've used it and have you come across any bugs or performance issues? Bro if it's unofficial then it doesn't mean that it's not trustworthy but simply that right now it won't get OTA updates and it won't get updated with all the other devices but when the developer will want to update it and like a said our device is a beast and LOS just flaunts it. Have you checked who's the maintainer of the unofficial Los for rn4? Right... It's the maintainer of the official RR of rn3 ? as said already in a answer for you unofficial does not mean some random guy maintains it... Why don't you read and check yourself who the Maintainer is?
Since I switched to xiaomi the XDA threads are full over and over with the same boring unnecessary questions. ?

Can any dev please port the MIA1 rom to our redmi note 4 mido?
Its Already Ported For Mi 5x Plz Port It To Redmi Note 4

At the end you'll have the same experience with an AOSP based ROM on Redmi Note 4.

Not really, Mi A1 and Mi 5x have different device codenames and partitions. You can't just directly flash ROMs between them.
Flashing Mi A1 ROM on Mi 5x using miflash tool will result in "The system in damaged.", check it on MIUI Forums.
That's why devs ported and modified the Mi A1 ROM, for it to work on Mi 5x.

If you really want the stock Android experience on your device (mido), you should try AOSP Extended v4.5, it is based in AOSP and already in Nougat. With added features and customizations too.
I also want a port of that rom, it feels more original than the other aosp roms and my remote works perfectly.
Not everyone can use the custom roms. I have tried em all but my banking app will not work on any of them even with magisk.
So I would like a stock rom that works with banking personally. I will buy an A1 when it drops in price.
Previously I used moto g 1st gen and a developer ported a marshmallow rom from some other moto device, trust me guys no custom rom is as stable as the ported marshmallow rom... That is the reason I asked this question.

Haha.. I started this thread, so I know what this thread is about. Believe me dude no one in XDA is as ignorant as you to believe that porting rom increase their camera quality. Coming to your previous post.. do you even know what porting a camera means?? I think you don't, let me explain. It means porting the camera app so that it works on other devices which by the way is already done.

Don't worry, I can see the op marked in yellow next to your name "nightmare" ????
Your drama, going off topic in your own post...
Porting the camera is an ironic comment, but now I see how you didn't get it in first place.
To be serious, nevertheless, porting the camera app from a different TYPE of camera, will not make our camera equal. For crying out loud. There are hundreds of camera apps out there and some might work better than the stock app anyway. The reason I would like to see a port of a1 for note4 is the Android one updates that are supposed to happen on time contrary to the xiaomi ones.

Best custom rom

I'd like to know what is the best custom(in terms of performance, smoothness and battery drain) that I can install on this device. Thanks
The best custom rom for your device is the one "you" like best. If you want an experience like stock google then try Pixel rom. If you want massive customization then try havoc. If you want a better miui experience try xiaomi.eu or mi-globe. If you don't know what you want try them all.

I believe they're bot builds anyway, as the maintainer left some time ago.
I personally use the official Syberia ROM. Its super fast. Before that I used beta AOSmP for a while. It too was fast & lean. Some ROMs/kernels are kinda laggy, those are not.
The private beta of miui Q just got released for our device so there should be some builds come along soon using the PHH base for custom aosp Q roms.
