Absolute SMALLEST Marshmallow ROM for Kenzo? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

What's a Marshmallow ROM for Kenzo with the absolute smallest install footprint?
EDIT: I'm using an FPC Kenzo, if that helps. I also probably won't be using GApps.

I'm also searching an Marshmallow smooth stable rom with no bugs like goodix, torch, camera or headset microphone.

I'm using cardinalAOSP and it's very fast, smooth and stable. Also it's very light on ram.
It has only small bugs: systemUI reboots sometimes while watching YouTube + auto rotation gets stuck in YouTube (turning off the screen and back on again fixes this).

If u talk about small rom in a term of its size u probably get the least feature that ROM can give to you, as I know small ROM like; slimrom mm, lineageos mm, as well as nexus experience give what u want.

Absolute smallest of smallest is Slim or DU (dark unicorn) rom. Feel free to try.

I am still using Umang's Slim 6. And still didn't face any bugs....so I haven't moved to any other ROM. If I want to change to other MM based ROM, it would be lineage MM by gismo.

You can check the cm13 based builds here. They are built with Umang96's device tree and proprietary files. I have been using them for months with no issues whatsoever. No modifications are made to the source files. The manifests used to build the rom are modified to point to Umang's repos, that's all. Other than that the source files are untouched. Obviously you need goodix patch and custom kernel for all cm13 based roms if you have goodix fp. The reason is because goodix has not released the source code for their drivers.

No fingerprint scanner at all on any customer roms or kernels.

unlocked bootloader(unoffical) with cofface twrp. Tried numbers of nougat roms and marshmellow roms with different kernels. Have got the fingerprint option to show up but doesn't recognize a fingerprint being pressed on the sensor at all. not sure what the deal is. It worked before i unlocked and flashed.
On what rom were you before?
I was on Santosh's CM13 /w Radon Kernel as my daily driver then moved to AOSCP and have been using just AOSCP. Just want the fingerprint scanner to work.

Sounds like you have the goodix reader?
Did you flash the goodix N fix, then a supported kernel like agni?
I'm not sure which I have... How can I tell for sure? Also if I do have the goodix can you show me where to find these patches? I've searched and can't seem to track them down.

Most of the Nougat roms indicate the need to flash the patch for goodix, and then kernel as well if the built-in one doesn't support it.
Which ROM do you want to run? I have goodix and have tried Beanstalk, AOSCP, CM14 Strix version and they have all worked when i used the patch + agni kernel.
I'm using AOSCP now but I'm down to change to whatever as long as everything works and its relatively stable as this phone is my daily driver. AOSCP has been working fantastic with a few reboots here and there.

Best N3Pro 7.1 ROM?

Hi. On every 7.0/7.1 ROM i have lot of problems with camera. I know the situation with source from Xiaomi but is there really no good rom where everything works fine? After trying seven roms with 7.1 i must again go back to CM 13.
What roms do you use?
I don't know if I'm biased or not, but I use minz1's LineageOS ROM.

Try to use Google camera. It minimise problems, but the well known ones (like flash out of sync ecc) still like in all nougat roms
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using XDA Labs
I'm using Slim7 official and camera works fine 95% of the time. Flash also works most of the time and video recording is fine as well. Just use Google Camera and it'll be fine. I'm on MIUI firmware, as I haven't flashed any other firmware.

Why not a rom-based OmniROM?

He'd find a developer who could build a rom based OmniROM? Is there a reason why is not such a rom? I'm just a user. I do not understand how to build rom. Thank you for your explanation. I would also like if there was a developer who would rom.
Excuse my bad English.
So many ROM we had actually, so why don't u choose developed ROM instead of asking for a new ROM.

No the bug of camera and led flash dont come from the ROM itself instead of the missing proper libs due to xiaomi half baked source. I am pretty sure if xiaomi released the new kernel or source the bug of camera n flash will be gone.
Alternatively u may use MM based custom ROM like RR MM, AOKP MM or even LinageOS MM as they will be as solid as miui MM, in a simple words the aforementioned bugs isn't present on all of those released.
Be smart and keep thinking guys.

Rom based on Android 6 already stopped development of last year. I am using a Nexus rom. Security is outdated. No. I want to again use miui.

If you were to rate nitrogen OS, what would your review be?
I have been using Slim with Radon for quite a while now, and I have gotten an amazing experience.
Going to try Nitrogen soon, to see what the hype is all about!

Is it buggy?
aospextended
i have been using AospExtended from more than a month. very satisfied.
before that tried almost every rom but has issues. could not continued to use as daily driver.
also realised most of the lineage based roms are buggy and Aosp based are more stable.
no one can give you honest answer. try it for yourself.
i suggest AospExtended by AmolAmrit.
nitrogen is also very stable

Can you please tell the procedure to flash Slim ROM, coming from MIUI 8 stable? There are many guides and I'm not sure which to follow. I don't want to lose imei and stuff. Can you please?
EDIT: Nevermind, flashed it
Unlock bootloader using the official method.
Install TWRP using the official guide on the TWRP website.
To do both of these, watch RootJunky's guide on YouTube.
After you have TWRP installed, put all these files on your phone or memory card. Use Firmware and Goodix Patch from Slim thread only. Use OpenGapps
Boot into TWRP and then make a full backup, then go into Wipe -> Advanced Wipe, wipe System, Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache.
Then go to Install and install these files in this order.
The latest version of Radon Kernel for Nougat, in balanced setting, is recommended for best performance and battery.
- Flash*Firmware
- Flash*Slim 7
- Flash Gapps
- Flash*SuperSU
- Flash*Goodix Patch*(If you have goodix FP)
- Flash*Radon Kernel (Choose Goodix FP, and Balanced settings during installation)
- Reboot and wait for 5-10 minutes.

Extended or nightly? And which build?
Best oreo rom by far that I've used is not even on xda. It's alexey711 lineage extended. Smoothest running and has a ton of features. Bluetooth works great. Pretty much a perfect rom. It's on androidfilehost under his directory.

I've been thinking about giving it a shot on Cosmic. Reviews are great and all I need is a stock experience with stability (and gcam, lol).

You can, but I have, bluetooth headphones connection problems, call drops, and a few other bugs that I can't recall (lol). If customization is your requirement I suggest the Resurrection Remix rom.

Why don't you update it unofficially? Unlock bootloader and install a custom Rom :silly:
There are tons of custom Roms to choose from.
MiracleDROID (previously elixirOS) is the most stable in my experience
2nd place are Firehound
but it goes back to everyone personal reference...
