I have a Edge 6 and out the blue it stopped booting up as normal and instead booted to a very dull screen. Also, it will only power up if it's connected to my charger or to a PC. As soon as I unplug it it turns off.
I then turned it off and held down Vol down - home -power button then turned the charger on at the wall. It boots to a dark unreadable screen so I pressed the Vol up and get the screen in the picture. I had to turn the flash off, you can just about make out the split screen blue at the bottom it has lots of unreadable writing and in the top black with 2 blue boxes with blue arrows in it saying "Download".
I then tried Odin and a few roms to flash it but they all fail. Is this dead or is there a way to unbrick it ?
I have tried to upload a picture or link but XDA isn't letting me

it goes as far as;-
Firmware update start
Start download
sboot.bin
FAIL!
Complete (Write) operation failed
succeed 0 failed 1

Thanks for the FW, it flashed fine with the fw you sent but the phone is still not working. This time though the light on the front in constantly on. The screen is really dull and it's showing 2 Samsung Edge logos side by side at the top half of the phone screen (dark blue) and light blue at the bottom with very small writing. These keep going on and off every 2 - 3 seconds. I'm beginning to think it's knackered for good.

Is the phone rebooting on the "powered by android screen"?
When you boot to download mode or recovery mode is the screen okay?
It won't boot to download mode without the charger in and the screen remains really dark. If I hold the vol down , home and power and then plug a charger into the phone (tricky job ) I get this really dark half light blue half dark blue screen with writing and 2 warning triangles like a spilt screen but its night impossible to read it its that dark.
then if I press the vol up it goes to download mode but it wont do this without the charger plugged in while holding all the buttons in.
Has anyone else had this really dark screen problem were you cant make out the writing it's that dark ?.
can anyone help me please , thankyou
Bump*

Okay I need some help to fix my phone because somehow I did something to my phone it really did not like. I will try to keep it as short as possible.
Since last week I was running liquidsmooth nightly LS-KK-v3.2-2014-10-13-umts_spyder on my xt910 and it was running as smooth as it could get.
This morning I decided to simply reboot the phone for no particular reason, battery above 90%, it shut off, it turned back on, showed the motorola logo and then a black screen. nothing else and I have not been able to make it show anything else.
volume+, volume- and power button in every combination, result in the same situation.
on the black screen I can press volume keys to make it vibrate but I am not sure what it actually does.
windows recognizes the device as motorola usb composite device and an MTP XT910, so far so good. Even RSD lite shows it as xt910 and connected though all device properties (IMEI etc.) are N / A and flashing results in "phone could not change to fastboot mode"
I found a similar problem described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1767469 (especially the last post).
Since the last reboot I installed plants vs zombies 2 and reinstalled google chrome, nothing else has changed.
I can't get into the fastboot menu to select ap fastboot, I tried doing the right steps at the black screen blindly but apparently it is not the same screen.
I am pretty clueless what to try next and I am not even sure if the phone is still being charged when I connect it to the charger.
sooo what to do?
thx a lot

You have a black screen but the phone isn't really turned off...
When you see that black screen, press and hold the power button until you see the white line flashing for a moment, like on Tv,that means it's turned off.
Immediately after that press all 3 buttons,vol-,vol+ and power button to get into the boot menu and then choose AP Fastboot from there.
Sent from my Razr XT910
interesting, first turning it off by holding power allowed the three-button combo to bring up the fastboot menu. thanks a thousand times.currently flashing sbf image
:highfive: worked

just a quick thought, is it possible that I provoked the black screen by using liquidsmooth on the system1 slot?
Not likely. Liquid Smooth has been in my #1 slot for quite a while. (Not stock side, just 1st slot on safestrap....)

Hi Guys,
my SGS6 Edge is not turning on, i have tried VolUp+Power , VolDown+Power also with home button nothing helps to turn on.
Do you have any idea
i have this problem too.
phones currently unresponsive, blue light flashing and none of the power/volume/whatever keys seem to be doing anything.
trying to let the battery drain and hope it boots back up once its switched off but cant find a way to reboot it at the moment.
Try to go into download mode...voldown+power+home...it never fails..once there you can cancel the download mode and the phone will (or at least should) boot normally...if it doesn't go into download mode as well..then...it's FUBAR

none of the options worked, phone was completely unresponsive with just the LED blinking every now and again.
i found that disconnecting the battery worked perfectly and now my phone works again, it only needed a reboot.
My Togari (with standard Sony Lolipop ROM) battery charge was at17% so I have connected it to a charger.
It did not get the red light on for some reason so I have switch the phone off. The red light came on and I have charge to 37% so I thought I switch the phone on. So I did that but instead the usual quick start up the phone went to black screen with a white popup message about checking 200 applications. It went from application 1 to 200 and the message changed to “Android is starting” in bold and the red arrow rotating next to text :”starting applications” below. This started two hours ago and still continuous this same. Looks like the phone got stuck in some kind of a loop. Attempted to press the power button to switch it off but to no avail. Any thoughts how to recover would be greatly appreciated?

Resolved. I switched the phone "OFF" using power and volume up pressed together. Restarted and is OK.
Anyone has any idea what I could do with the following.
Device turned off while in water. 3 weeks later, I plugged the device in a charger. The red light was blinking in the top left corner. I left it plugged in for maybe 15min. The screen cycled between the red lightning bolt in a circle, and to a green one. Briefly on green it would turn off, and eventually show the red one again. 15min or so later I went into fast book mode. It said something about RPL being locked. I shut it down, went in eRecovery instead. From there I did a shutdown. And then tried to start the phone. Low and behold it turned on. I plugged it in my computer but the charging showed 2%. So I turned off the device and left it plugged in for the night. This morning, the device didn't start. No red blinking light when trying to charge it, and no fast boot, nor eRecovery.
any idea?
I really don't get it. Does the Mate 10 Pro have 2 different memories that could work independently? I was able to get it to wake up, and tried to get into fastboot. What I got instead is a "Software Install Failed" message with a URL to emui.com that is as useful as a thumb in my forehead. When trying eRecovery, I tried, wipe cache partition, didn't change anything. I tried reboot system, brings me back to eRecovery, so I tried Download latest version and recovery. It connects to my wifi (how on earth does it finds the password?!?) and downloads a 3099M bundle (8.0.0.143). Then runs the recovery system. I get a Recovery Success screen, then reboot. Guess what? Goes back to the same eRecovery screen. I can't get it to normal boot at all. And shutdown? Well.... that's the mystery. If I do shutdown. Then when I try to start the phone, screen stay black. Like the last time. Not sure what I did to get it back.
Hi all,
I got this Xperia M5 that's been giving out warnings about memory being full and I suppose it finally gave in. It only partially boots after like a full minute of showing you those blue waves. When it 'boots' the screen is black and nothing works, except you can see the status bar with just the battery icon, no-SIM icon and the clock.
Weird thing is when the device is powered off, you can press the power button once and it'll display a large battery indicator which shows the percentage normally-- I've seen this go up from 0 to over 90 something incrementally.
But when it's 'on' the way I just described, the battery is always at 0% with a red ! next to it.
Anyway, when it's in this weird half-life mode, you can actually pull down the notification bar normally, and tap stuff as well. Flashlight works, you can see an actual WiFi list (nothing happens when you connect) etc. When you launch stuff through here though, like settings, it won't open anything. It'll make the sound as if it's launched something but the remainder of the screen will still be black.
Using the dedicated camera button, I can access the camera. It works (sort of), meaning you can see the camera display where the screen used to be black. And it immediately says "system process is not responding," so I'm guessing this is a system issue where it can't load basic stuff like the homescreen?
Whatever you do or don't do, it stops responding after a couple minutes and shuts itself off.
Stuff I've already tried:
- Safe mode (volume down + power), just 'boots normally'
- Recovery mode (volume up + power) done that for over two minutes, does nothing or just 'boots normally'
- Hold down the tiny yellow 'off' button under the SIM/SD cover, did nothing.
- Xperia Companion: PC won't recognize the phone either in that zombie state, or when it's off, so I tried 'device cannot be detected', shut phone down, held down volume down button, connected USB still holding down, waited for a while and viola, nothing happened.
It's factory OS, never messed around with it and I don't know the version (could be 5?).
Any ideas?
Guys at this point all I'm wondering is if anyone ever managed to brick a phone that's as semi-responsive as this one, in the history of bricked android phones anywhere.. I mean how could it be bricked when you can (sort of) boot and even open the camera?
you said it boots in download mode?

No I wouldn't say download, it's weird-- there's the status bar at the top and soft navigation keys at the bottom, but the homescreen in between these is black. I tried tapping this black area to see if stuff is there logically but you just can't see them, but there was no interaction, no sound or anything.
I am able to pull down the status bar to reveal the usual buttons and such, like I mentioned before you can turn on the flashlight, click to see a list of available wifis etc. But you can't access settings through here, I mean you tap settings and the main part of the screen is still black.
The only way to get the screen to work is to open the camera through its dedicated button, where the camera display works normally, you can switch cameras etc. Tried accessing the gallery through here but it didn't work.
I just don't wanna buy a new phone when this one doesn't seem bricked at all. If it like didn't respond at all and nothing appeared on the screen I wouldn't think twice before buying the first phone I see on Google.
im afraid that you have to flash stock rom again if you will boot into download/fastboot mode.but your problem seems strange.what was the last thing you have done before phone stuck like this?

Not my phone but it'd been going on about low memory for a while now. I got the PC to recognize it once in that zombie state, so I'll try that with Companion if I can get it to half-boot again. I'll post updates if anything happens.
