I'm running a Sprint M9 with ViperOne rom. It seems to have defaulted itself to English US but I'm in UK and would really like to change to that so I get my £ symbol back as default and the correct date format dd/mm/yyyy. When I go to languages all I get in English and can't specify UK or US.
I could swear you used to be able to do this here. Am I going mad? Did I miss my chance to change it on first initial setup?

I would like to write a message in Czech.
If I create a new email and then on the Edit menu choose Language then Central European I still get the Western European keyboard. I would expect to get a Central European keyboard. Even if I choose Cyrillic I get the Western European keyboard.
I can go to Start/Settings/System/Regional Settings and choose Czech and Pocket Outlook will display the month names in Czech but I still don't get a Central European keyboard.
Anyone know a solution?
2 things:
1. On a PC with a basic installation I only get the support for the locale selected. If I then want to write in Russian or Chinese I have to insert the installation disk to get other language support. It seems reasonable that Microsoft will not include every language in the PPC ROM where space is at a premium even though there is support in the applications for more than one language. There must be a CAB file somewhere that provides different keyboard layouts/character maps.
2. In the Czech Republic T-Mobile(your cash away) sell the XDAII as an MDAII and they have a different keyboard for inputting Czech characters. It seems to me that the ROM for the MDA includes the Central European language pack that isn't included in the XDA.
So 2 more questions
1. Is there a place to download a CAB containing the Central European keyboard etc?
2. If not 1 above. Does anyone have access to the individual CABs in the MDA ROM that contains the Central European keyboard? And can they send it to me
i think that language changes needs a new rom
I could get the T-Mobile Czech ROM from somewhere(?) and install it on the ppc but i don't want that. I only want to use a different keyboard.
I know there are products that can do this and I don't mind buying software but I do mind paying $25 for a piece of software that only does what the operating system should do.
Would anyone buy other versions of Windows if they only allowed input in the local language? If you bought a pc in Russia how could you post to this list?
What exactly is the change language option in the ms ppc products supposed to do if it doesn't change the input character set?
People!
What are you talking about?! No ROM change is needed - all you need is czech "input mehod" - keyboard! It is included on the CD the machine was packed with, called czech Language Extender and actually only adds the keyboard - the rest is preinstalled. If you are interested, I can try to find the CD on my shelf... :?
Concerning the ROM reinstall, it won't help - czech ROM is marked ENG! The only difference is the CD.
PS: I never tried to send SMS in Czech, bu it definitely works on the internet.
i must have pressed a wrong button somewhere cos my post didn't turn up.
that is great news. but i don't have anything like that on my CD. could you post it? is it a cab? is it easy to install? a beer or 2 if you can
I found the CD and will try to do something with it. It is a 5.5Mb executable, Czech or English.
We'll see...
looks promising but it wants a serial number.
any chance of posting one? 8)
Very sorry, my network went down yesterday.
I'll have a look at the serial when I come home. I installed it somehow so I must have it!
Here you go:

now it should work!
Thanks Bob but that is a bit more than i needed
I now have a variagated ppc. Half o2 and half T-Mobile. Although i do have a Czech keyboard
Even installing the minimum of the Leng it adds a lot of T-Mobile stuff and I can't seem to get back the o2 stuff.
I don't know why but it also removes all the connections. Even using the o2 Active connection setup causes the thing to hang after a reset.
It is a pity. But thanks again for your help.
Hi everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to read my thread, and sorry in advance for writing so much. Now I have searched EVERYWHERE, for about 3-4 hours now, with about 200 tabs, and still have found nothing. What I really want is to be able to ADD (sorry about capitalization, just everywhere I look it's always is change, not add) UI language (like the ones in Settings>Language & keyboard>Select language), not adding a keyboard as I already have done that, but a language itself, like Spain Spanish. I have a HTC EVO 3D running Android 2.3.4, now this phone originated in China, so when I do go to the settings and check the languages, there are two languages in Chinese characters, and one in English (Hong Kong SAR China), so a total of three, now when I look at people who bought their phones from other places have so many languages like English, German, Italian and French, but I only have two, I tried using MoreLocale 2, but all it does it replace not add, and when I change the language it returns to default (so I changed the Hong Kong English to NZ English via morelocale, as I am in NZ, and it did change it, but when I changed the language from NZ English to one of the Chinese ones, and then back to English, via the settings menu, it returned to Hong Kong English), I am not too worried about that problem, but all I want to do is add UI languages, would prefer without rooting, but if I MUST, then I am up for it. So is there a way of doing so, if there is, could you PLEASE tell me, I would SOOOO GRATEFUL.
Thank you again and I hope you enjoy your day
I'd like to know this as well.
Running android on my HTCHD2 (does the exact firmware matter?)
and I would like very much so to alter the UI language to Thai.
I realize Thai is not a very common language but my family there just can't read english, especially the kids. I tried some locale changers like Morelocale 2 and it helps make alot of things into Thai, but not the most important thing I need, the UI such as settings and menus. All of that is still in english.
I tried to see if i can download some sort of patch or rom but come up with nothing. So now I'm just gonna bite the bullet and would like to do it myself. Is there a way to just add in or perhaps alter one of the other languages(i'm not gonna use Korean for example) so I can actually make it all into Thai myself?
I have my language set to English but when I bring up S-voice it show it to me in French. I tried changing the language to french, then back to english but it still shows french. Can some one help? What do I need to do? Factory default maybe? I love the phone but this is crazy. Any help would be great!!!! Thanks.
If anyone has the same or simular issue with S-Voice
I figured it out. If you go into manage apps and scroll down to s-voice, you can clear the data. This will allow S-voice to default to your appropriate language. I bought this phone from some international whole sale company. It must have been used or at least set to French language and then defaulted back. Some how the S-Voice was stuck on French language. Hope this helps someone else out.
Thanks You

You certainly helped me buddy. Thanks. I just got S3 after no smart phones for over a year. I love this thing, but really was frustrated with French instruction for S-Voice. Mind you I am not too thrilled about S-voice itself but at least I can make work in a language I understand. Thanks a million!!!http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/good.gif
I got the One X+ last night from Telus (in Canada) and the voice search doesn't seem to be talking back regardless of what I change. I've also made sure the volume is up.
I've found that it seems either HTC or Telus has only provided English (Canada) as the only English selection in the devices system language. Could this be the culprit?
Is anyone else having issues with voice search talking back on a Telus HTC One X+?
Edit: Answered my own question. As I suspected, that was the cause of the issue. Gotta love when companies cripple features on phones by changing silly settings. Installed Locale Select (can't post the link, it's called Set Locale and Language in the Play Store) and changed to English (US) and it's working fine now.

Hey Archangel
I had the same issue and was wondering why was it not working, but now thanks to the idea you had now it talks back to me too.
Thank you very much :victory:
I just bought a S23 Ultra, model number is S918U1. It is for my father and he doesn't know English well enough so he uses his phone in Turkish.
I was expecting it to be the American model, however I was also expecting I could just change the UI language from the settings and everything would change.
I got a S10e from the US for him before and it was fine, all iPhones I get are fine. This time, when I change the system language not everything changed to Turkish.
I understand some apps and services not having multi-language support, but even settings page has english stuff, for example "Notifications" or "Display" which obviously have translations on international versions of the phone.
Is there a way to fix this language discrepancy or could I flash a Turkish/International ROM on it to get the full language support?
